How to Choose the Right Proxy Server for Your Needs

When it comes to online security, a proxy server can be a great way to protect your data and privacy. A proxy server acts as an intermediary between your computer and the internet, allowing you to access websites and services without revealing your identity or location. But with so many different types of proxy servers available, it can be difficult to know which one is right for you. Here are some tips on how to choose the right proxy server for your needs.

Understand Your Needs

The first step in choosing the right proxy server is understanding your needs. What type of activities do you plan on using the proxy server for? Are you looking for a secure connection for online banking or shopping? Or do you need a fast connection for streaming video or gaming? Knowing what type of activities you’ll be using the proxy server for will help narrow down your choices.

Consider Security Features

When selecting a proxy server, it’s important to consider the security features it offers. Look for servers that offer encryption, which will help protect your data from being intercepted by hackers. You should also look for servers that offer additional features such as malware protection and anonymous browsing. These features can help keep your data safe from malicious actors.

Evaluate Speed and Reliability

In addition to security features, it’s important to consider the speed and reliability of the proxy server you’re considering. If you’re using the server for streaming video or gaming, then speed is essential. Make sure that the server has enough bandwidth and is reliable enough to handle large amounts of traffic without slowing down or crashing.

Choosing the right proxy server can be a daunting task, but with these tips in mind, you should be able to find one that meets your needs and provides a secure connection. Be sure to research different servers before making a decision and make sure that they offer all of the features and security measures that are important to you.

rsAccessedDenied - Reporting Services error

  • 9 contributors

The Reporting Services error rsAccessedDenied occurs when a user does not have permission to perform an action. For example, they don't have a role assignment that allows them to open a report, or they didn't open their browser with the required permissions.

If the error occurred while accessing the report server directly through a URL, the exception is mapped to an HTTP 401 error.

If the error occurred while using the web portal, the exception is typically mapped to an HTTP 401 error, or other defined HTML error page.

If the error occurred during a scheduled operation, subscription, or delivery, the error will appear in the report server log file only.

User action

Permission to access report server content and operations are granted through role assignments. On a new installation, only local administrators have access to a report server. To grant access to other users, a local administrator must create a role assignment that specifies a domain user or group account, one or more roles that define the tasks the user can perform, and a scope (usually the Home folder or root node of the report server folder hierarchy). You can use the web portal to create role assignments. For more information, see Role Assignments .

This error is also caused by local administration of the report server. For more information, see Configure a Native Mode Report Server for Local Administration (SSRS) .

Playing with database servers…

Sql server database articles, tips and scripts., ssrs : rsaccessdenied : the permissions granted to user are insufficient for performing this operation (rsaccessdenied).

February 18, 2017 by Sql Times

Interesting one today:

Setting up a new SSRS machine on one of the virtual machines in our lab, we ran into this interesting error after walking through the initial steps of install & configuration. Turns out, this is a common error after fresh installs. Following is the error message:

Following steps have helped resolve it.

Resolution:

SSRS service runs under the security of a user account; My guess is that this account needs permissions to access the content on the SSRS site & folders. So we need to carry out two steps to assign proper permissions.

Folder Permissions

  • Site Permissions

Trusted Site Settings

Open browser with Administrative Privileges and point it to Reports Manager URL. Go to ‘Folder Settings’.

In the properties page, go to the Security tab and click on ‘ New Role Assignment ‘

ssrs_permissions_error_foldersettings_2

In the new page, add the user account for ‘Group or User Name’ field. Then assign ‘ Content Manager ‘ permissions to the user account. And hit okay to save the settings.

SSRS_Permissions_Error_FolderSettings_3.PNG

Site Settings

Use the same browse (with administrative permissions), to go to Site Settings on the right.

ssrs_permissions_error_sitesettings_1

In the settings page, go to Security tab and click on New Role Assignment .

ssrs_permissions_error_sitesettings_2

In the new page, add the windows user to the ‘Group or user name’; Assign System Administrator role and hit OK .

ssrs_permissions_error_sitesettings_3

Go to Internet Explorer, Tools -> Internet Options -> Security tab > Click on Trusted Sites. In the new window, enter the URL for Report Manager and close.

Now you can open browser and open Report Manager without any security warning.

ssrs_permissions_error_trustedsitesettings_1

Once the permissions are set, close the browser and re-open it without administrative permissions. Going forward, it would work without needing to open browser with elevated permissions.

What if I need to change the user which the SSRS project is being deployed? The Visual Studio makes the deployment with the local domain user, which I don’t want in the external server. How can I change the settings of the deployment so I log in with server admin user everytime I make deployment to the server?

SSRS Permissions set but end user is getting rsAccessDenied

My users are getting " The permissions granted to user 'IIS APPPOOL\WITSVAR' are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)".  The folder permissions in SSRS look to be set properly.  Actually we have 2 applications and 2 SSRS folders.  The other is set up identical and is working fine.  see attached.  thanks!

Thanks.  I did see this.  But we have 2 sites, both using ApplicationPoolIdentity.  The original site works great with SSRS (WITS), but this one in question keeps returning the rsAccessDenied error (WITSVAR).  Also tried changing the site to DefaultAppPool, adding this pool to SSRS as Browser.  Same results.

How to fix Reporting Services permissions are insufficient for performing operation (rsAccessDenied)

sql server reporting services rsaccessdenied

If you are getting the following error while trying to access or deploy a SQL Services Reporting Services (ssrs) report server on your localhost:

Here's what to do:

  • Open Reporting Services Configuration Manager -> then connect to the report server instance  -> then click on Report Manager URL.
  • In the Report Manager URL page, click the Advanced button -> then in the Multiple Identities for Report Manager, click Add.
  • In the Add a Report Manager HTTP URL popup box, select Host Header and type in: localhost
  • Click OK to save your changes.
  • NOTE: If you don't see the 'Site Settings' link in the top left corner while at http://localhost/reports it is probably because you aren't running IE as an Administator or you haven't assigned your computers 'domain\username' to the reporting services roles, see how to do this in the next few steps.
  • Then go to: http://localhost/reports   (you may have to login with your Computer's username and password)
  • You should now be directed to the Home page of SQL Server Reporting Services here: http://localhost/Reports/Pages/Folder.aspx
  • From the Home page, click the Properties tab, then click New Role Assignment
  • In the Group or user name textbox, add the 'domain\username' which was in the error message (in my case, I added: DOUGDELL3-PC\DOUGDELL3  for the 'domain\username', in your case you can find the domain\username for your computer in the rsAccessDenied error message).
  • Now check all the checkboxes; Browser, Content Manager, My Reports, Publisher, Report Builder, and then click OK.
  • Your domain\username should now be assigned to the Roles that will give you access to deploy your reports to the Report Server.  If you're using Visual Studio or SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio to deploy your reports to your local reports server, you should now be able to.
  • Hopefully, that helps you solve your Reports Server rsAccessDenied error message...

Just to let you know this tutorial was done on a Windows 7 computer with SQL Server Reporting Services 2008.

You are unable to access the reporting site for our TFS project. You are able to view individual reports from VS, but you cannot get to the reporting site to edit them. Whenever you try to go to it (By right clicking on Reports->Show Report Site in Team Explorer), you get the SQL Server Reporting Services Error.

You are unable to access the reporting site for your TFS (Team Foundation Server) project.  You are able to view individual reports from VS, but you cannot get to the reporting site to edit them.  Whenever you try to go to it (By right clicking on Reports->Show Report Site in Team Explorer), you get the following error page:

SQL Server Reporting Services Error :

"The permissions granted to user are insufficient for performing this operation. (rsAccessDenied)"

Now, this error message is fairly well described but almost every solution work towards that you don't have any permission set in Reporting Services.

You need to set the permissions up via SQL Server Management Studio. Run it as administrator, click Connect in Object Explorer, select Reporting Services from the dropdown, then enter server name.

then you can add your user and apply the permissions you need.
