10 Great Websites for Free PowerPoint Templates
Download instantly without having to register
If you’re looking to create an awesome presentation in no time, you can use the free PowerPoint templates, though it’s limited in terms of creative designs.
You can find a wide variety of free PowerPoint templates online that can bring more to your work. All you have to do is download the ones you want, open them in PowerPoint, and edit them however you like to fit your own needs.
Here’s a roundup of websites from where you can get the best PowerPoint templates free of charge and create stunning presentations.
Also, be sure to check out our YouTube channel where we made a short video going over a couple of the options mentioned in this article.
Best Websites For Free PowerPoint Templates
Presentation magazine, behance slide template collection, powerpoint styles, google slides templates, slides carnival, free-ppt-templates.com, slide hunter.
This website offers more than 67,000 creative, free PowerPoint templates. It has more than a dozen categories to browse from such as medical, business, nature, educational, wedding, architectural, Christmas, travel and weather. You can search for them by popularity, color or tag.
The templates are both regular and animated, and are added or updated frequently. They’re also easy to download as you get the file immediately on your computer, plus you get to see a screenshot of what they’ll look like on your slide deck.
There’s no rating system though, and most templates are very basic, but at least you have a wide variety to pick from.
Behance is a showcase site for creatives from all over the world, so you’re bound to find some really professionally designed, extremely artistic and attractive slide templates. The best part is that you can get creative PowerPoint templates, download free of charge, and use with your PowerPoint presentation.
You can use the search filter to find some of the best templates you can use by using variables such as user ratings, most appreciated, or categories like infographic or business presentation and more. A preview of the template’s slide designs is also available so you can see what your deck will look like before you download it.
If you plan to get templates from Behance though, you’ll also need access to Illustrator or Photoshop.
PowerPoint Styles also offers free PowerPoint templates and you can find one that fits your needs by sorting the list according to the most viewed, recently added or top downloaded templates. It also provides categories and tags to help you find general templates, or cartoon, abstract, social, textures, telecommunication and other types of templates.
Each template has a screenshot so you can get a sneak peek of what the actual design looks like, and they’re downloaded as PowerPoint files making it easy to add to your presentation.
You can also select any color you want to see the templates with your preferred one as the primary color, which is good if you’re building a slide deck for your brand.
The main drawback of this website is the ads on the site that make it hard to find the proper download button for the template you want.
Showeet displays its free PowerPoint templates with lots of information about each one, and you can browse the popular ones by tags such as fun, business, pattern and more. Each download page also comes with preview images, plus instructions and tips on how to use the template and make it interactive.
They’re also updated and added from time to time, but you’d need to follow them on social media or subscribe by RSS to get updates on their latest template designs.
The main drawback is that each template is stored in a ZIP file, so you have to extract the files before using them on your presentation.
Google Slides templates are stylish and royalty-free so you can use them when you have upcoming presentations and you’re pressed for time so you can’t design your own from scratch.
You don’t have to fill out a registration form to use the free PowerPoint templates on this site. Plus, you get handy links that can help you if you’re new to creating presentations in Google Slides, or you’ve not used it in a long while.
For low-budget projects, Slides Carnival is a great website to get free PowerPoint and Google Slides templates. You can use theme-based menus on the site to find templates, browse the most recent themes, type a keyword in the search bar, or sort through the well-defined categories.
The site also offers supporting material with information that explains why the templates work well so you can make a better decision.
This website makes finding a free PowerPoint template much easier as it’s clutter free and there aren’t any ads.
The templates are professionally designed, clean, and easy to find as it organizes them by category, featured, or most popular, though you can also filter them by creative or corporate. You also get to see preview screenshots, which makes it easier for you to narrow down your choices.
You don’t have to extract the downloads from a ZIP folder as they download directly, and are stored in PPTX format so you can use them on your presentation.
However, you need a user account to download the templates, and it has fewer categories you can look through.
This website for free PowerPoint templates offers professional-looking templates in categories such as music, technology, educational, medical and countries. You can filter them by editor’s choice, top 10, or most popular, though its search filters aren’t intuitive.
Another drawback with this site is that the PowerPoint templates you download are stored in archives, not directly as PPTX files for easy and quick use with your presentation.
Slide Hunter lists its free PowerPoint templates under different topics including strategy, education, planning, charts, cycle, 3D, arrows and more. Some of them offer multiple screenshots so you can see what you’re about to download, plus related templates you can choose from.
However, you have to extract the templates from a ZIP file before using them on your presentation, and there’s no content description or information about the number of slides or length of the slideshow.
This popular website for free PowerPoint templates stocks a massive collection of professional templates in different categories such as wedding, business, religious, graduation, nature and abstract.
You can easily find a template that matches your needs by filtering your searches by category, keyword, tags, themes or backgrounds.
You can see user comments and download counts on the download pages so you can decide whether or not you want a specific template you like. Plus, you don’t have to register or wait for an ad before downloading as they download instantly to your device.
However, some templates can be large and take some time to download, and there aren’t enough screenshots to show you more about the template you’re downloading.
Get Your Next Presentation Template
We’ve highlighted only 10 sites where you can get free PowerPoint templates from, but there are many other options out there. However, you can get a wide variety of designs for different purposes so you can impress your audience, and ace that assignment or land your next client.
We’d love to hear your recommendations for great websites where you get free PowerPoint templates from. Share with us in a comment below.

The 8 Best Free PowerPoint Alternatives
Professional results for tight budgets
- Swansea University, Staffordshire University
Microsoft PowerPoint is a great tool for creating professional-looking slideshows and presentations. However, the home version requires a Microsoft 365 subscription, and the free mobile app locks some features behind the sub as well. Fortunately, there are plenty of free PowerPoint software alternatives out there. Here's a look at some of the best options and how they compare to PowerPoint.
Best Direct PowerPoint Replacement: Google Slides
Very similar to PowerPoint.
Free to use.
Compatible with PowerPoint.
An internet connection is strongly recommended.
Where there's a need for an app, Google seems to have it covered. Google Slides is its PowerPoint equivalent and it's a lot like Microsoft's app. Very simple to use and offering full compatible with the alternative, you can access Google Slides via your browser and easily create custom presentations with audio and your own images, all entirely for free. It also offers great live collaboration features for teamwork purposes.
The only minor downside is you need an internet connection to at least get started but the service does also work offline with presentations syncing once you're back online.
Best for Designers: Prezi
Video editing included.
Can easily make data visualizations.
Stylish user interface.
Free option is pretty basic.
Presentations viewable by all.
Prezi is a great option for designers who have a vision but aren't technically proficient at achieving it. Its simple drag and drop interface makes it a breeze to organize your presentation just how you want it. Backed up with other Prezi apps that mean you can create videos or more stylish data visualizations than simple graphs, it's ideal for industries that are more visual than others. A series of pre-made templates makes it all the more attractive.
Prezi isn't as free as it seems though. To get the full wealth of features like advanced image editing, offline access, and narration, you'll need to pay a subscription fee.
Best for Quick Results: Zoho Show
A theme for every occasion.
Quick to create something.
Need to be online to use it.
Simple to use yet highly effective is the sweet spot for quick results, and that's certainly the case with Zoho Show. You might need to be online to use it, but it's worth the connection with an intuitive user interface that adapts to what you need to do. You can easily embed videos, tweets, and images into your presentations with some neat transition effects making things more interesting.
Collaboration tools further sweeten the deal with annotation features meaning you can work together well as a team and fast.
Best for Animations: Powtoon
Great animation tools.
Easy to use.
Can export to social media platforms.
Branding applied on free presentations.
More about animations than slideshows.
PowToon tackles PowerPoint presentations from a slightly different angle than a lot of its competitors. It's primarily great for creating full animations and videos rather than presentations that you would click through and present yourself. That lends itself perfectly to the internet which is why it's so useful that you can export your presentations to various forms of social media.
With a drag and drop template, you can create something within about 20 minutes from your browser. The free version bundles in branding logos so viewers will always know you've used PowToon to create them but that's a small price to pay for an otherwise very accessible and simple to use piece of software.
Best for Mass Branding: Renderforest
Plenty of options for expanding branding.
300MB cloud storage for free.
Exports can be low in quality.
Content is watermarked.
RenderForest thinks of itself as more than just a PowerPoint alternative. It tackles everything you might need from creating logos to designing promo videos, music visualizations, landing pages, and websites. That's on top of its extensive animations and intro creation. That might sound intimidating but the service keeps things simple, so it won't take you long to mock something up and develop it.
Stick to the free version and there are some restrictions such as branding on your videos, lower quality logos, and so forth, but it's a solid start for an otherwise entirely free service. In particular, if you just need to concoct a quick 3-minute video for a presentation, RenderForest has you covered.
Best for Non-Designers: Visme
Plenty of templates to choose from.
Can set up five projects at once.
Charts and widgets support.
Limited cloud storage.
Visme branding on free plan.
Been asked to make a presentation and you don't know where to start? Visme is perfect for those that aren't well versed with graphics as it offers an extensive template library. The free plan limits your options a little but there are still some decent choices here. In addition, the service provides cool ways to make stats and data look exciting thanks to chart and widget support. It's all done through a simple drag and drop interface too that makes it super simple to add video and embed other content.
Just bear in mind that storage options are a little limited and everything on the free plan will contain Visme branding.
Best for Office Replacement: LibreOffice Impress
Full program rather than browser-based.
Similar experience to Microsoft Office.
Not quite as intuitive as alternatives.
LibreOffice is a popular free alternative to Microsoft Office, so it makes sense to use LibreOffice Impress if you want the closest experience to Microsoft's package. Unlike most of the others here, you need to install LibreOffice on your PC or Mac which means it's no good for Chromebooks or moving between different systems. However, in exchange, you get an intuitive experience that makes it simple to create slideshows, whether you're handing them out to a class or conference afterwards, or simply projecting them on screen.
Bear in mind you have to seek out templates yourself though which may be off-putting for the least technically minded user out there.
Best for Apple Users: Keynote
Simple to use.
Apple Pencil support.
Cloud based as well as app based.
App is only on Apple devices.
Keynote is Apple's direct competitor to Microsoft PowerPoint and it's a great alternative, especially if you're a Mac user. With app support for iOS and Mac, it takes seconds to get started. Alternatively, PC users can use Keynote via the iCloud website and easily work across multiple devices.
One of the best features is the ability to use the Apple Pencil on an iPad to create diagrams or illustrations making it great for skilled artists. As well as that, Apple provides plenty of convenient templates for personal and professional projects.

How to get Microsoft PowerPoint for free
Need to create a digital presentation? There are loads of options to choose from.
Google Slides, Apple Keynote, Canva and Prezi are all worth considering, but there’s one app that probably comes to mind first.
Microsoft’s PowerPoint remains the go-to for many people, combining ease of use with an excellent range of features.
But there’s one big problem: you usually need to pay to access the app. This starts $149.99 / £119.99 for a standalone version alongside other Office apps, or £79.99 / $99.99 per year as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription.
However, the good news is that there are three totally free (and legal) ways to use PowerPoint totally free of charge. Here’s what you need to know.
Option 1 – Web version
Accessing Microsoft PowerPoint and other core Office programs is free via the web, and all you’ll need is a Microsoft account.
Head over to office.com and click ‘Sign in’ to enter your details. If you don’t yet have an account, choose ‘Sign up for the free version of Office’ and follow the instructions.
Anyron Copeman / Foundry
Once that’s complete, you’ll be taken to your main office homepage. From the left pane, choose ‘Create’ then ‘Presentation’ to open a new PowerPoint document.
As you can see, there’s also the option to create documents in Word and PowerPoint here, alongside Outlook and a free version of Microsoft Teams. These are all ‘Web Apps’, meaning you can only use them via your browser and not a desktop app. When you work on a file here, it will be saved to OneDrive, Microsoft’s cloud storage service.
In fact, you probably have Google to thank for this software being available in web app form. Its free Docs, Sheets and Slides software and their integration with Google Drive made it difficult for Microsoft to keep asking users to pay.
Check out our guide to the best cloud storage services to see how both compare to the rest of the competition.
The web version of PowerPoint is a more stripped-back version of the software, so the comparison to Google Slides is more reasonable than the full desktop program. Nonetheless, both services should provide everything a casual user is looking for.
Option 2 – Use on mobile
Perhaps again in response to Google, Microsoft’s Office mobile applications are completely free and available across modern mobile devices.
You can download the Microsoft PowerPoint app for Android and iOS . While Microsoft understandably reserves some premium features for its Office 365 subscription, the mobile apps are still very capable and offer integration with OneDrive.
Option 3 – Check if your school or workplace gets it free
Many employers offer Microsoft 365 apps to their employees free of charge. Even if your work email address ends with the name of the company you work for, it may still be used to sign into a Microsoft account. Of course, you may be working in an office job where Excel and the like are already the defaults.
If your school has signed up to Microsoft 365 Education, all staff and students should be able access Office apps for free. To check, enter your education email address on the Microsoft website .
But if your school isn’t yet signed up and you’re in a position to change that, compare plans and begin the sign-up process here .

5 golden rules of PowerPoint design
february 6, 2024
by Deb Ashby
Wondering how to design the perfect PowerPoint presentation? It's easier than you think–just follow five simple rules to get started:
1. Consider using templates
When building a slide deck, it’s important to maintain consistency throughout. We want to ensure we are using consistent font styles, colors and themes. This can be tricky when designing from scratch, so why not start from a template?
Microsoft Create contains hundreds of pre-made, customizable PowerPoint templates, which means you don’t have to start from scratch and the fonts and colors are already set for you.
Simply choose a template from the gallery, customize it as needed, and you are done!
2. No walls of text
We’ve all seen PowerPoint presentations where slides contain too much text. The human brain struggles to listen and read at the same time. If you are presenting to an audience, keep the text on slides to a minimum.
Consider employing the “5-5-5" rule. No more than 5 lines, no more than 5 words, no more than 5 minutes. Think short and sharp memory joggers instead of rambling paragraphs.
Where possible, consider replacing text with visuals to represent your point. People remember images more than words.
3. Be mindful of colors and fonts
No one wants their audience to leave with a headache after an hour of straining to read slides. We need to ensure that our presentation is easy to read for everyone – even for those in the nosebleed seats at the back! Think about the font you are using. Is it appropriate for the presentation? What about the font size? Can people at the back easily read? What about people with visual impairment? Ensure all text is at least 24pts.
When it comes to color, ensure all slides have good contrast. Dark backgrounds should have light font and vice versa.
4. Use animation sparingly
Animation can really liven up an otherwise flat presentation. However, it should be used thoughtfully and sparingly. Too much of the wrong type of animation with objects flying in and zooming around the screen, while fun, can look confusing and unprofessional.
Animation should be subtle. With every animation you add, ask yourself, "Is this going to enhance my presentation or distract from it?"
5. Engage your audience
When presenting to an audience, there is usually an awkward time before the presentation begins while the speaker waits for everyone to arrive. During this time, people may start scrolling on their phones or get distracted with work emails, and it can be hard to pull the audience back.
To avoid this issue, work to grab your audience's attention before the presentation even starts. Instead of just having the title slide on the screen, consider creating "kiosk slides." These are a series of slides that contain a combination of interesting things for the audience to look at or engage with. Maybe you have an interesting image? A funny quote or fun facts? Or maybe there is a question you want them to think about prior to the session?
Create these slides and have them automatically cycle round before the presentation starts.

AI Presentation Maker
When lack of inspiration or time constraints are something you’re worried about, it’s a good idea to seek help. Slidesgo comes to the rescue with its latest functionality—the AI Presentation Maker! With a few clicks, you’ll have wonderful slideshows that suit your own needs . And it’s totally free!
Generate presentations in minutes
We humans make the world move, but we need to sleep, rest and so on. What if there were someone available 24/7 for you? It’s time to get out of your comfort zone and ask the AI Presentation Maker to give you a hand. The possibilities are endless : you choose the topic, the tone and the style, and the AI will do the rest. Now we’re talking!
Customize your AI-generated presentation online
Alright, your robotic pal has generated a presentation for you. But, for the time being, AIs can’t read minds, so it’s likely that you’ll want to modify the slides. Please do! We didn’t forget about those time constraints you’re facing, so thanks to the editing tools provided by one of our sister projects —shoutouts to Wepik — you can make changes on the fly without resorting to other programs or software. Add text, choose your own colors, rearrange elements, it’s up to you! Oh, and since we are a big family, you’ll be able to access many resources from big names, that is, Freepik and Flaticon . That means having a lot of images and icons at your disposal!
How does it work?
Think of your topic.
First things first, you’ll be talking about something in particular, right? A business meeting, a new medical breakthrough, the weather, your favorite songs, a basketball game, a pink elephant you saw last Sunday—you name it. Just type it out and let the AI know what the topic is.
Choose your preferred style and tone
They say that variety is the spice of life. That’s why we let you choose between different design styles, including doodle, simple, abstract, geometric, and elegant . What about the tone? Several of them: fun, creative, casual, professional, and formal. Each one will give you something unique, so which way of impressing your audience will it be this time? Mix and match!
Make any desired changes
You’ve got freshly generated slides. Oh, you wish they were in a different color? That text box would look better if it were placed on the right side? Run the online editor and use the tools to have the slides exactly your way.
Download the final result for free
Yes, just as envisioned those slides deserve to be on your storage device at once! You can export the presentation in .pdf format and download it for free . Can’t wait to show it to your best friend because you think they will love it? Generate a shareable link!
What is an AI-generated presentation?
It’s exactly “what it says on the cover”. AIs, or artificial intelligences, are in constant evolution, and they are now able to generate presentations in a short time, based on inputs from the user. This technology allows you to get a satisfactory presentation much faster by doing a big chunk of the work.
Can I customize the presentation generated by the AI?
Of course! That’s the point! Slidesgo is all for customization since day one, so you’ll be able to make any changes to presentations generated by the AI. We humans are irreplaceable, after all! Thanks to the online editor, you can do whatever modifications you may need, without having to install any software. Colors, text, images, icons, placement, the final decision concerning all of the elements is up to you.
Can I add my own images?
Absolutely. That’s a basic function, and we made sure to have it available. Would it make sense to have a portfolio template generated by an AI without a single picture of your own work? In any case, we also offer the possibility of asking the AI to generate images for you via prompts. Additionally, you can also check out the integrated gallery of images from Freepik and use them. If making an impression is your goal, you’ll have an easy time!
Is this new functionality free? As in “free of charge”? Do you mean it?
Yes, it is, and we mean it. We even asked our buddies at Wepik, who are the ones hosting this AI Presentation Maker, and they told us “yup, it’s on the house”.
Are there more presentation designs available?
From time to time, we’ll be adding more designs. The cool thing is that you’ll have at your disposal a lot of content from Freepik and Flaticon when using the AI Presentation Maker. Oh, and just as a reminder, if you feel like you want to do things yourself and don’t want to rely on an AI, you’re on Slidesgo, the leading website when it comes to presentation templates. We have thousands of them, and counting!.
How can I download my presentation?
The easiest way is to click on “Download” to get your presentation in .pdf format. But there are other options! You can click on “Present” to enter the presenter view and start presenting right away! There’s also the “Share” option, which gives you a shareable link. This way, any friend, relative, colleague—anyone, really—will be able to access your presentation in a moment.
Discover more content
This is just the beginning! Slidesgo has thousands of customizable templates for Google Slides and PowerPoint. Our designers have created them with much care and love, and the variety of topics, themes and styles is, how to put it, immense! We also have a blog, in which we post articles for those who want to find inspiration or need to learn a bit more about Google Slides or PowerPoint. Do you have kids?
