How to choose the best time tracking app?
Choosing the right time tracking software seems simple when looking at the most basic options many of them deliver. But taking a closer look at the combination of features they offer, making a choice requires a careful examination of all the options available.
While some apps place greater emphasis on invoicing, budgeting and profit in relation to your tracked time, others focus on employee monitoring, or simple, straightforward work hours tracking.
Before selecting an app that falls short of your expectations, consider the following first:
- How do you usually work? Are you a freelancer? Do you run a company?
- How big is your team?
- What is your planned budget for a time tracking app?
- What are the basic features your time tracking app needs to have?
How did we choose which time tracking apps to review?
With countless time tracking apps available on the market, we needed to set some ground rules for picking the ones that would make it to the final top list.
Since a great time tracking app should help you streamline your workflow, just like a perfect assistant, we eliminated all the apps that made the process of measuring productivity too complicated or time-consuming.
After a great deal of thought to the further criteria for the selection, we agreed that for even the most demanding expectations, a perfect time tracker must include:
- A real-time timer,
- A time tracking reminder,
- Visual reports on how you spent your time,
- A variety of additional features,
- And multiplatform availability.
How will we decide on the best time tracker?
After laying down the criteria for the top list of the best time trackers, it was necessary to define the conditions that an app must satisfy to earn the title of the best among its competitors. Since one man's meat is another man's poison, a perfect time tracker might not suit everyone's standards.
This is why the best time tracking software should be adaptable enough to satisfy the needs of the largest number of users. With that in mind, the best time tracker should:
- Work for everyone and have enough features to cover a variety of time tracking needs — The more features a time tracking app provides, the greater its adaptability to different professional settings.
- Be affordable — Ideally, it should have a free plan for testing the features out.
- Be simple and easy to use — A perfect time tracker should help in saving time, not add up to the number of wasted hours.
- Have great customer reviews — Nothing tells more about an app than a great deal of happy customers.

The bigger the size of the team, the bigger the price, which is also Toggl Track's biggest flaw. Depending on the number of users, time tracking with Toggl Track can add up to $1,000 per month for 100 users, or $12,000 for an entire year, since its Starter Plan adds up to $10 per user per month.
If your time tracking needs go beyond the Starter plan, the Premium plan is always an option. But since the price adds up to $20 per user per month, you would have to set aside $24,000 per year for a 100 person team.
How did the users rate Toggl Track?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.7 ( 1773 reviews )
Most of Toggl Track's users speak highly of this time tracking app due to its quick and easy time tracking options and its intuitive interface.
However, some users mention its price as a downside, especially when working in a quickly growing environment.
#3 Harvest — Best for tracking expenses
Known for its accounting features, Harvest is a time tracking software that comes with a wide array of options that help increase the transparency of your workflow.
![write a review for time tracker Best for tracking expenses Harvest screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/harvest-timesheet.png)
Who can use Harvest?
There's hardly any doubt that Harvest can be used by almost everyone — from freelancers to large-scale companies.
However, if you're a freelancer who needs to keep track of only one or two projects, you might find Harvest more valuable and cost-effective than an enterprise would.
Since both free and paid versions come with the same array of features, and the only difference between them lies in the number of users, choosing Harvest as a team time tracking app could be a pricey decision, especially compared to its competitors' plans.
What additional features does Harvest have?
Apart from giving you the option to track your time across a variety of different platforms (Desktop, mobile, browser), with Harvest you can:
- Receive automated reminders to track time,
- Add your time manually
- Get visual reports of your performance and project progress,
- Edit and approve timesheets,
- Create and send invoices,
- Get paid with Paypal and Stripe integrations,
- Look into your profitability analysis,
Coming with 50+ integrations, Harvest lets you and your team automate both the time and expense tracking process.
How easy is it to use Harvest?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 462 reviews )
According to Capterra reviews, getting used to using Harvest is not as simple as is the case with its competitors.
Its users mainly indicate that although Harvest delivers a plethora of options, the process of setting their workspace up requires a bit of time.
How much does Harvest cost?
Although Harvest comes with a free plan, it covers only 1 user and 2 projects, which might not be enough if you're looking for a way to test the program out before you decide to switch to a paid version.
If you're looking for an unlimited number of projects, Harvest Pro plan adds up to $12 per user, which would even out to $14,400 a year for 100 users.
How did the users rate Harvest?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.5 ( 462 reviews )
Harvest's users mostly praise the app for its reporting and invoicing powers that make expense tracking much simpler than keeping spreadsheets or doing it manually.
Still, a great deal of reviewers claim that using Harvest takes its toll on managers' time, especially if they are the ones in charge of setting the software up and running and adding projects to the projects listing.
#4 Hubstaff — Best for monitoring and productivity tracking
Well known for its employee-monitoring options, Hubstaff quickly became a go-to software for busy managers looking for a way to keep track of their employees' productivity levels.
![write a review for time tracker Best for monitoring and productivity tracking Hubstuff screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/Hubstaff-screenshot.png)
Who can use Hubstaff?
Even though Hubstaff is an option for both freelancers and teams, large companies might find greater value in using this time tracking tool.
Considering that Hubstaff comes with features for monitoring and tracking remote workers' activities it might be the best solution for larger companies whose managers can't always keep track of all employees.
What additional features does Hubstaff have?
Along with automating your time tracking habits and creating in-depth time reports, with Hubstaff, you can:
- Review and approve timesheets,
- Insert time manually,
- Review and approve time off,
- Automate work tracking based on the GPS location,
- Look into all the apps used while the timer was on,
- Go over the URLs visited during the time tracking activity,
- Take a look at screenshots to see how time is spent,
- Send automatic payments based on the time tracked,
- Create invoices,
Hubstaff also comes along with 30+ integrations, but streamlining your workflow with them comes with a cost.
If you're interested in integrating Hubstaff with even just one of the offered apps, you will be able to do it only after upgrading to a Starter plan.
In case you're in for the unlimited number of integrations, you will have to upgrade further, to an even pricier option.
How easy is it to use Hubstaff?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.4 ( 1225 reviews )
Judging from its users' reviews, using Hubstaff does not come off as intuitive and clear-cut as it is with some of its competitors.
Some of its customers mention having issues with using the dashboard since getting the gist of it required them to devote a certain amount of time to it. Others point out that setting the software up hasn't been quite simple.
How much does Hubstaff cost?
Hubstaff offers four categories of paid plans. Depending on your company's needs, you can choose from Hubstaff Starter, Grow, Team, or Enterprise paid plans.
There is also a free plan available. However, it has limited features and is available for only one user.
If you are looking for a plan that could cover your remote company's time tracking needs, you'll have to opt for a subscription plan starting at $7 per user per month for a Starter plan, $9 per user per month for a Grow plan, or even $12 per user per month for the Team plan.
Hubstaff's user support also varies depending on the pricing plan you opted for, ranging from two days to two hours.
If you're in for unlimited options, a customized plan, and two-hour email support, you should choose Hubstaff's Enterprise plan.
How did the users rate Hubstaff?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 1225 reviews )
Most of Hubstaff's users appreciate its monitoring options that help them keep an eye on the way they spend their workday.
Yet, some of the users find various features confusing, especially at the onset, so they emphasize the lack of intuitiveness as its major downside.
Also, when having to attend a virtual meeting, users report that they find Hubstaff a bit distracting. Since the app keeps track of their keystrokes and device activity, when inactive for a while, it tends to alert them of their idle status every ten minutes.
#5 Time Doctor — Best for tracking and analyzing performance
Similar to Hubstaff, Time Doctor gained its reputation for enabling its customers to monitor their workflow in great detail.
![write a review for time tracker Best for tracking and analyzing performance Time Doctor screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/timedoctor-screenshot.png)
Who can use Time Doctor?
Although mainly marketed as an employee monitoring software, Time Doctor could be used by freelancers as well as larger teams.
Due to its monitoring features (screenshots and web usage) freelancers can get valuable information on billable hours and hours worked that they can share with clients and bill them accordingly. Large companies, on the other hand, are able to obtain real-time data on their employees' time and workflow habits.
What additional features does Time Doctor have?
Besides letting you start a timer as soon as you clock in and sending you a reminder in case you forgot to track your time, Time Doctor allows you to:
- Manually add and edit your time,
- Receive summary reports of your productivity levels,
- Approve and automate timesheets,
- Streamline payments,
- Look into chat and web histories,
- Go over screenshots of your activity,
- Receive distraction alerts,
- Track your time offline,
Time Doctor also comes with 60+ integrations, yet their availability depends on your subscription plan.
How easy is it to use Time Doctor?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.5 ( 396 reviews )
Time Doctor's users have rated this time tracking app as fairly difficult to use. The major hurdle when using the software was a complicated process of navigating around the app, especially at the beginning.
The users also mention that customizing the software takes a lot of their time, which might not be the greatest solution for customers looking for a quick and easy solution for time tracking.
How much does Time Doctor cost?
Time Doctor, unfortunately, does not come without cost. Since there's no free plan you won't be able to try its features out before deciding whether it's worth your time.
However, if you still decide to go for this time tracking app, you can choose between three different plans. The Basic plan starts at $7 per user per month and it gives you only the main features such as time tracking, activity tracking, screenshots, etc.
If you choose TIme Doctor's Standard plan ($10 per user per month) or their Premium plan ($20 per user per month), you might end up paying from $12,000 to $24,000 a year for 100 team members.
How did the users rate Time Doctor?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.5 ( 396 reviews )
Openly praised for providing detailed insight into its users' work habits and performance, Time Doctor found its use among a great number of customers.
Still, looking into the Time Doctor's overall ratings, it's impossible not to notice this app's slightly lower rating compared to the rest of its competitors.
Judging from the app's customer reviews, most of its users' dissatisfaction comes from the complexity of the setup process.
Other users also mention that the app doesn't recognize the time they spend in meetings as productive time. Instead, it tends to identify meeting time as idle and inactive, so keep this in mind as a possible point of frustration.
#6 TimeCamp — Best for tracking billable hours
Primarily recognized as a tool for perfecting its users' invoicing processes, TimeCamp has made it to our list of the best time tracking apps for 2022 because it simplifies bookkeeping by letting you keep track of how you spend your time.
![write a review for time tracker Best for tracking billable hours TimeCamp screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/best-time-tracking-apps/timecamp-screenshot.png)
Who can use TimeCamp?
Similar to its competitors, TimeCamp can be used by everyone, both individuals and teams.
But it's necessary to mention that all the additional options a freelancer might find useful when working with clients are not included in the free plan. Still, if they decide to switch to a paid plan, they might not find this decision as cost-effective as a larger team might.
This is mainly due to a variety of features not essential to an individual — such as hiding time from other users or supervising other team members.
What additional features does TimeCamp have?
TimeCamp comes equipped with multi-platform automatic time tracking and detailed reports. Along with trying out these features, with TimeCamp, you can also:
- Track different goals,
- Create project templates,
- Filter your projects with tags,
- Set up budgets for different projects,
- Issue invoices,,
- Approve timesheets,
- Set billable hours,,
- Set time estimates,
- Keep track of your team's idle time,
- Track GPS location,
TimeCamp also offers its users more than 100 integrations, but similar to Time Doctor and Hubstaff, you can only make full use of these options if you upgrade to a paid plan. Time Camp's free plan comes with one integration only.
How easy is it to use TimeCamp?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 545 reviews )
After taking a closer look at what the users of TimeCamp had to share about their experience with the software, it became evident the app navigation was not as simple as they might have expected, so a number of them found it too difficult to use.
Users also point out the difficulties they encountered when trying to track time in the TimeCamp mobile app, sometimes even resulting in lost data.
How much does TimeCamp cost?
If you're looking for the basic time tracking features coupled with several reporting options only, TimeCamp's free plan could come in handy. However, if your business demands you to set up different billing rates, send out invoices or provide productivity and time budget reports, TimeCamp's Starter, Basic, or Pro plans would be a better choice.
Starting at $3.99 per user for a Starter plan, $7.99 per user for the Basic plan, and $10.99 for a Pro plan, TimeCamp seems less costly than the majority of its competitors.
Yet, the plan with billable rates, invoicing, and labor costs can add up to almost $13,200 a year for 100 users.
How did the users rate TimeCamp?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.7 ( 545 reviews )
A great majority of TimeCamp's users appreciate the apps' reporting options and non-distracting device activity tracking. The users also speak highly of the profitability analysis that TimeCamp offers, since it allows them to maximize their efficiency by learning how to better allocate their time and resources.
Still, users' slight dissatisfaction with the phone app and the app's inability to perform to the same extent as the desktop/browser version has probably made an impact on TimeCamp's overall score.
#7 RescueTime — Best for tracking focused hours and blocking distractions
Being a super simple automatic time tracker, RescueTime aims at helping users analyze the way they spend their time and assess their productivity levels.
![write a review for time tracker Best for tracking focused hours and blocking distractions RescueTime screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/best-time-tracking-apps/rescuetime-screenshot.png)
Who can use RescueTime?
Even though RescueTime is marketed for both individuals and businesses of all sizes, it's lacking some of the employee management features. This makes it more suitable for individuals who want to keep track of their productivity levels throughout the day.
What additional features does RescueTime have?
Besides reminding you to do focused work by starting an automatic Focus session based on a gap in your calendar, RescueTime gives you the option to:
- Select and block potentially distracting apps and websites,
- Get detailed reports on your productivity levels,
- Receive real-time alerts reminding you to stay focused,
- Set your daily goals,
- Be reminded to take a break.
Apart from letting their users learn more about their day-to-day habits, RescueTime offers integrations with Office 365/Outlook Calendar and Google Calendar. This option enables users to automate their focus time and calculate the exact hours they spend in meetings.
How easy is it to use RescueTime?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 123 reviews )
Judging from its users' reviews and its overall Ease of use score, it would be only reasonable to conclude that RescueTime is a bit difficult to use. Yet, since the number of reviews is significantly lower compared to other time tracking apps, and most of the recent comments praise RescueTime for its intuitive interface, perhaps judging this time tracking app as difficult to use in 2022 would be unjustified.
Due to its automated productivity tracking that starts measuring your progress almost immediately after you log in, RescueTime actually simplifies its users' time tracking.
How much does RescueTime cost?
The cost of using RescueTime mostly depends on whether you plan on using this software for improving your own productivity levels or you intend to help your team retain their focus.
If you're looking to assess your individual performance, RescueTime will cost you $12 per month. In case you're trying to help your team refrain from distractions by using this app the price could go a bit lower — $9 per user per month.
However, using it for a prolonged period might not be as cost-effective as it seems at first since managing productivity levels of 100 team members could cost as much as $10,800 a year.
Another downside of RescueTime is that it does not offer a free plan, so except for signing up for a free trial and giving your payment information, there's no chance to test out the app before purchasing it.
How did the users rate RescueTime?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 123 reviews )
Most of RescueTime's users appreciate the app's non-intrusive way of keeping track of their habits. They also emphasize that the automated process of recording how and where they spend time on their devices helped significantly decrease distractions.
However, users also mention that this automated process proved faulty when the app is installed on multiple devices. Namely, if you would like to listen to music on your phone while completing your tasks on another device, the app might categorize your background music as a distraction.
#8 Everhour — Best for budget management
As a famous all-inclusive work hours tracker, Everhour comes with both project, team and budget management features that help teams stay in line with their budget, tasks and project scheduling.
![write a review for time tracker Best for budget management Everhour screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/everhour-screenshot.png)
Who can use Everhour?
Mostly oriented towards businesses, Everhour offers features involving task management and collaboration that might not be as relevant or necessary to individuals and freelancers.
In line with that, Everhour certainly proves most valuable to teams and small businesses.
What additional features does Everhour have?
Being a comprehensive tool with both basic and advanced time tracking features, Everhour might be a good choice if you want to:
- Enter and edit hours manually,
- Mark billable hours,
- Get reminders to track time,
- Break projects down into smaller tasks,
- Track time off and holidays,
- Look into your team's attendance and timers,
- Set up your project's budget,
- Track expenses,
The app also comes with a smaller number of possible integrations when compared to its competitors. Namely, Everhour integrates with only 15 different tools.
Also, since Everhour does not have a desktop app, the integrations are only available in the Everhour Web version and browser extensions.
How easy is it to use Everhour?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 284 reviews )
Although a great deal of Everhour users have chosen this app because of the variety of different features it delivers, sometimes the robust set of its functionalities comes at the cost of its simplicity of use.
Precisely because of this complexity, a number of users have marked this time tracking app as difficult to use. Some users have had issues creating reports due to the difficulty of navigating throughout the app to import the necessary data. Others mention the issues they had with setting the software up, since the provided tutorials did not clarify all the processes enough.
How much does Everhour cost?
Everhour offers a free plan, but only for 5 users.
If you would like to try out Everhour, there is only a 2-week free trial, but you can gain access to the account only after leaving your payment information. After the trial expires, you can retain access to this time tracking app by choosing either a Cloud or a Server-based plan.
The Lite plan is limited to 10 users and costs $6 per user a month. So, if your team has more than 10 members, you would have to go with the Team plan which is $10 per user a month and can add up to $12,000 for 100 users per year.
How did the users rate Everhour?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.7 ( 284 reviews )
The majority of users greatly value Everhour's project and budget management features and highlight its detailed time analyses and seamless integrations as its major upsides.
Still, although Everhour offers customizable and detailed reports, some customers don't find them user-friendly enough and have reported lags when trying to access this feature.
#9 Timely — Best for scheduling and task planning
Because of its automatic time tracking option that runs in the background and the option to schedule and plan the week ahead, Timely is a popular solution for users who are unsure where their time goes and would like to improve the efficiency of their time management with the help of AI.
![write a review for time tracker Best for scheduling and task planning Timely screenshot](https://clockify.me/assets/images/Timely-screenshot.png)
Who can use Timely?
There are no limits to who can use this time tracking app for managing their time.
Timely can be used by freelancers who are looking for a way to make accurate time estimates and bill their clients accordingly.
Teams and businesses of all sizes can use Timely for project tracking and reporting.
It's worth noting that, although Timely works in the background to collect the information about its users' device activity, the automatically tracked data is private, so users can choose what information they want to share with the rest of the team.
What additional features does Timely have?
Apart from giving you the option to track your time both manually and automatically, Timely lets you:
- Look into your time reports,
- Create customized reports,
- Enter and edit time manually,
- Receive reminders if you forget to log your time,
- Mark billable rates,
- Plan and log time for others,
Along with the list of time tracking and project planning features, Timely provides 15 additional integrations. .
How easy is it to use Timely?
Ease of use: ★★★★★ 4.6 ( 207 reviews )
Even though Timely's most valued feature is the automation of time tracking, a number of users found the initial process of setting up the software time-consuming.
As with all AI software, it takes a bit of time until the app starts understanding each user's habits. However, until the process of automation becomes precise enough, users might find it a bit confusing and difficult to catch on where their initial hours went by.
How much does Timely cost?
Apart from the two-week free trial for starters, Timely does not offer an option of choosing a free plan.
If you would like to work out how exactly you spend your time, the lowest entry point for achieving it with Timely is $11 monthly per user for a Starter plan.
If your needs go beyond the Starter plan, and your time tracking habits require you to track an unlimited number of projects and view your team's activity, you can unlock this set of features by purchasing either Timely's Premium ($20 monthly per user) or Unlimited plan ($28 monthly per user). This would amount to $33,600 for 100 users per year.
How did the users rate Timely?
Overall rating: ★★★★★ 4.7 ( 207 reviews )
Most of Timely's users have chosen this time tracker for its automated tracking feature that helps them focus solely on their daily tasks. Many customers also speak highly of its project tracking feature.
Still, it takes a bit of time till the app gets the gist of the users' work habits, which makes the adjusting part slightly tiresome for a number of customers. They also mention that it took a certain amount of time to explore and get used to the interface until they were able to get the full value of all the features that Timely delivers.
What is the best time tracker?
Putting each of the time tracking apps from the list under very close scrutiny has ultimately revealed both their strengths and weaknesses and the range of professional settings that these apps can prove their greatest value. Let's go over each of the criteria we've covered and see whether it's possible to single out one top performer time tracking app.
Which time tracker works for everyone?
While Clockify, Toggl Track, and Everhour are essentially work-hours trackers, Timely and RescueTime have emerged as tools for monitoring productivity. However, analyzing their features in greater detail has shown that only Clockify performs strongly in every professional scenario and can be used by both individuals and organizations .
Hubstaff and Time Doctor, on the other hand, show up in their best light when used as employee monitoring systems. Harvest and TimeCamp, although not lacking in employee monitoring features, bring to the table handy invoicing and expense tracking systems as well.
Which time tracking app is the easiest to use?
Even though each of these apps essentially offer time tracking features, their ease of use varies. While apps such as Clockify, Toggl Track, and RescueTime promise smooth sailing, most of the other apps on the list require a bit of time to get used to, which could be problematic when looking for a tool to help you manage time.
Which time tracker has the best user reviews?
Upon looking at what the users had to say, it's easy to see that there isn't a great difference between the overall customer satisfaction with each of the time tracking apps.
Which time tracking app is the most affordable?
Taking a closer look at each of these time tracking apps' affordability has revealed a major gap between them. Most of the apps (with the exception of Rescue Time, Time Doctor, Everhour and Timely) offer a free plan. However, the majority of these free plans come with a range of limitations, and upon deciding to switch to a paid plan, users usually discover that this choice is quite costly.
The only time tracker that stands out from the crowd is Clockify for offering a wide range of features to an unlimited number of users . Also, Clockify's paid plans are visibly more affordable than any of its competitors.

Time-tracking software sits on the boundary of its bigger sibling, time management software, which offers a much more detailed approach to workplace time management. Instead, apps that are designed to primarily track time are typically cheaper and have fewer features, placing more of an emphasis on the unit of time rather than project completion and delegation.
In days gone by, workers will have clocked in and out of their workplace and managers had very little insight beyond this. As technology emerged, spreadsheet software would be used as a database with limited dashboarding functionalities.
As our requirements have grown, made only stronger by the lasting effects of the pandemic on things like hybrid working and multi-location businesses, time tracking has become a cloud-based activity that should be both easy and effective.
With that in mind, here are some of the best time tracking apps available to suit a wide range of wants, needs, and most importantly, price points.

![write a review for time tracker My Hours website screenshot](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/sEgVh92fZzK59roFFPWS3e-320-80.png)
1. My Hours
Reasons to buy, reasons to avoid.
My Hours is a free time tracking web app designed to make it easy to manage workers’ time, which should make invoicing and project management clearer. The timesheets are easy to understand and can be shared with colleagues to help organizations understand their spend across different departments, which is useful for grant-funded bodies that need to allocate resources in a specific way.
The dashboards present the type of information you need in a really simple but effective way, showing timesheet overviews in relation to budgets, projects, and productivity. While each dashboard uses the same source information, there a several layouts to choose from to make sure you’re getting what you need.
As well as a web portal, there are Chrome and Edge extensions, plus iOS and Android apps. We would like to see better support for desktops, and in particular Apple hardware, given how easy it is today to develop apps. Even so, it remains a really enjoyable tool to use. There’s a paid plan with support for invoicing and more, but for a staple time tracking tool, the free plan works great.

![write a review for time tracker Harvest website screenshot](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/Ufh2pzgGdRjdXgS4mgzEx-320-80.png)
With customers including Volkswagen, Dell , and Yale, Harvest offers more than just time tracking, which makes it good for businesses that deal with clients, or their own subsidiaries. For admins, the amount of data that can be collected makes it great for analyzing, visualizing, and budgeting.
End users will appreciate the endless integrations that make it easier to log certain workflows. You can link straight to project management software like Asana and Trello , communication platforms like Slack , and payment gateways including PayPal and Stripe.
There are Windows and macOS clients, as well as iOS and Android apps, so most bases should be covered. It comes at a cost, though, because unless you just need one seat and a maximum of two projects, you’ll need to pay $10.80 per seat per month for Pro which removes those limits.
![write a review for time tracker Buddy Punch website screenshot](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/xn9KgYeaWjhEdyeuAECX5F-320-80.png)
3. Buddy Punch
Buddy Punch was designed to replace the process of manually clocking in with pen and paper, or spreadsheet software, with an affordable and easy-to-use interface. The company claims to design all of its features around the end user’s experience.
Punching in and out - one of the most commonly used features of the app - supports not just username and password, but a four-digit pin, QR code scanning, and even facial recognition. Buddy Punch can also handle GPS data for multi-location businesses or those whose workers venture out and about, or work remotely from time to time.
Take one look at the BuddyPunch website and you’ll notice the sheer amount of features crammed into the app, plus support for scheduling and handling payroll for some plans. So much so that it can virtually replace some HR software depending on the business’s size and needs. Pricing works on a per-user basis, plus an additional base charge regardless of employees, but there’s no free plan, unfortunately.
![write a review for time tracker Deputy website screenshot](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/bFH6J5Lw6sScmTFrxK5W8R-320-80.png)
Deputy clearly has larger companies and professional bodies in mind in the way it creates timesheets that can be verified, approved, or exported to be shared. HR teams might also value the automatic wage calculation feature, or the dashboarding.
Because of the emphasis on time management, Deputy can integrate with payroll software and accounting software like Quickbooks , Xero , MYOB , and PayHero. However, integrations with tools typically used by end users are limited to a handful of cloud storage providers, like Box and Dropbox .
Beyond time tracking, Deputy aims to cater to other employee-related requirements. It has its own employee scheduling service and a platform for onboarding new team members. Expect to pay $3.50 per user per month for scheduling or time tracking, or $4.90 for both combined into the Premium package.
![write a review for time tracker Clockify website screenshot](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/qaarEtJTAV8NLtM6iKKfad-320-80.png)
5. Clockify
Tiem tracking apps come in a variety of flavors, including free, freemium, and paid-only. Not very much comes free, these days, but Clockify is one such example, which has no paid plans in sight.
It doesn’t boast all the advanced features that some of its rivals do, but it has absolutely everything you would need in a time tracker including a stopwatch-style timer, submissions for approval, templates for designated projects, and reminders. You can also set up a kiosk for workplaces to handle workers checking in and out.
As well as connecting with Outlook Calendar and Google Calendar, you can pick from a number of desktop clients including Windows, macOS, and happily, Linux, or Chrome and Firefox extensions. There are also iOS and Android apps available, making it one of the most widely available systems despite not charging a cent. If value for money is important to you, then Clockify excels.
![write a review for time tracker RescueTime website screenshot](https://cdn.mos.cms.futurecdn.net/TFuHPQRLHFFwTchSNDJFum-320-80.png)
6. RescueTime
As the name suggests, RescueTime places an emphasis on freeing up your time and making the time you spend at work more productive, which is a happy and healthy twist on some of the other, more corporate solutions.
With the app, you can set focus times and compare focus sessions with previous sessions. It also features automatic distraction blocking and surfaces some of the most common distractions for you specifically, which can be alarmingly eye-opening! This is all in an effort to improve the fewer than two hours that the company says a typical worker spends focused on work each day.
Balancing hard work with wellbeing, RescueTime is also a backer of the four-day working week. Expect apps for all the major platforms - so Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android - and all of that in a tidier and reimagined interface. Rather than occupying an entire app, RescueTime sits in the task bar on desktops and handles most of the tracking in stealth. Note that beyond a short trial, the only option is one paid plan.
We've also featured the best time management apps .
Should I pay for a time tracking app?
Compared to time management software, which typically costs, time tracking software is a much more affordable option. If you don’t need the premium features, and you can make do with time-only related resources rather than wider HR tools, you can almost certainly find a free time tracking app that meets your needs.
Larger organizations and enterprises might not have such luck, either because of the limitations of free plans in terms of number of seats, or that they simply require much more detailed analyses that call for premium solutions.
As a rule of thumb, and especially in a tough economy, taking the time to find a free or affordable option is certainly time well spent, in our opinion.
To test for the best time-tracker apps we first set up an account with the relevant software platform, whether as a download or as an online service. We then tested the service to see how the software could be used for different purposes and in different situations, with varying requirements as per different businesses’ needs. Given the variety of subscription models, including free and paid, we took the time to compare the individual features, making note of the most noteworthy ones that would help each offering to stand out.

There is one evil that haunts the days and nights of most agency workers: time tracking.
![write a review for time tracker employee-time-tracking-apps](https://53.fs1.hubspotusercontent-na1.net/hub/53/hubfs/employee-time-tracking-apps.jpg?width=595&height=400&name=employee-time-tracking-apps.jpg)
It's no wonder there are so many digital time tracking tools just for agencies and small business today. Those who need an easy way to stay on task and become more efficient for their clients will find 16 possible solutions below and free apps for startups here.
Employees avoid it at every opportunity, but eventually, time -- or the poor soul in charge of collecting timesheets -- catches up with them. Some agencies have even gone as far as rewarding employees with free beer if they submit their reports on time, which isn't such a bad idea.
![write a review for time tracker Download our complete productivity guide here for more tips on improving your productivity at work.](https://no-cache.hubspot.com/cta/default/53/52250291-8fed-4fe7-ad28-e6e244e1fcd8.png)
The real problem with time sheets is that they require employees to track time on every single thing they do, and no one likes to be micromanaged. No one wants to know if that project took longer than it should have or discover how few hours they actually spent on "real" work that week.
The Reason for Tracking Time
The problem is unavoidable. Our industry is built on billable hours. Even retainers are based on an understanding of how much time an agency will spend on a specific client each month.
The other problem is that people don't actually track their time, so agencies never have a true understanding of how much time is required to complete a project. Consider this: A designer estimates it will take 10 hours to complete a design. Three months later, he fills out his timesheet over a period of two weeks, accounting for 11 hours of design time. He didn't actually track his time, but he thinks it's in that ballpark. Besides, it looks good that he spent a lot of work on the project. The team lead reviews the timesheets and compares it to the original estimate. There are two implications:
- The project is unprofitable, and
- Future quotes for this type of design project will be set at 15 hours.
Now, if the designer had tracked his time, he would have been able to say that it actually took him six hours to complete the project. This knowledge would have changed the agency's view of that project. In addition, this miscalculation causes inflated prices moving forward. It creates the misconception that anything below 15 hours could be unprofitable for the agency.
Timesheets are a necessary evil if profitability is a concern. But you can make it easier on your staff to make time tracking a part of their daily work.
4 Tips for Getting Employees On Board to Track Their Time
One of the biggest problems even if you've made time tracking mandatory is that timesheets are ignored and therefore inaccurate. To get your team on board with watching the clock, follow these rules:
Communicate the benefit of tracking time
Forcing employees to track their time can breed suspicion -- they feel like they are constantly being monitored and timesheets are a way to "check in" that they are doing what they should be doing. It's important that you explain time tracking is not about a lack of trust; it's about making sure the company remains profitable, as mentioned above. And profit leads to bonuses and raises and investments in future "fun" things.
Time tracking can also help to improve forecasting and capacity issues, removing the stress because your agency has underestimated the project and overpromised to the client.
Provide training and support
Make sure every single employee -- including leadership -- is trained on how to use the time tracking software, how to submit timesheets, and how to review their own productivity.
Create a guide for new employees to read over, and make sure you stay up-to-date on improvements in the software. One of the barriers to tracking time is overcomplicated and unusable software.
Reward employees who follow guidelines
If your agency requires employee time tracking for work projects, then time entry systems are just part of the job. But you can use employee recognition software to reward employees with small gifts if they consistently submit accurate timesheets on time.
One fun way to do this is to give your employees back their "time" by letting those who do this well leave early once a month on a Friday.
Make it a seamless part of their workday
People don't look forward to recording hours worked in a time tracking system every Friday at 5 p.m. Choose a tool that works with your agency, and ask for people to test out and review various apps.
Do people want to integrate the tool with their calendar or project management software? Is having a mobile app necessary? Do your managers need to be able to see when remote workers are online and working? Consider what would cause the least disruption in your team's workday.

The next one on this list is nTask , a project and task management tool for workaholics. We won’t exactly call it a “hybrid” program, but it does seem to blend several components nicely. nTask offers collaboration tools via in-app messages and Slack integration followed by time tracking, multi-task management, and recurring activities.
As the devs understood that different projects come with their unique constraints, therefore their timeline, resources, and requirements vary as well. On that note, a key feature of nTask is the interactive Gantt Charts experience. Unlike conventional task management programs, where the Gantt Charts are based on pre-defined non-interactive data sets, you can drag and drop chart cells to orient the projects’ timeline to your liking.

How to choose the right time tracking software for your business
When choosing employee time tracking software for your business's resource management, it is crucial to understand what to look for before finalizing your selection. These key considerations will help you determine the best time tracking software.
Opt for sharable timesheets: See if your selected time tracking tool allows you to share employee work hour timesheets with the clients. You should be able to download the timesheets in the desired format (PDF, Excel, etc.) with details that justify every working hour cost down to a second. In addition, see if there is a client portal to check the employee hours timesheets instead of asking you to share them with the clients every time.
Assess real-time employee monitoring: An ideal time tracking solution should let you monitor the number of hours spent by each team member to complete tasks in real time. The tool typically offers a browser extension to monitor employee activity. This way, you can ensure that your team members are wisely spending their work hours, boosting employee productivity.
Look for an employee job scheduler: Look for a time clock management system for employees that lets you create employee schedules with details such as hours required, job type, and more. Further, the tool should notify employees each time a job schedule is added to their queue via email alerts and tool notifications.
Common questions to ask software vendors before purchase
These are some common questions you should ask vendors in order to find the best time tracking software to analyze employee productivity:
Does the tool have auto-time entry capabilities?
Automatic work hour recording replaces manual employee monitoring methods, such as tracking time cards and generating paper timesheets. With auto-time recording, users can clock in and out using their computers and mobile phones, and the time tracking tool automatically calculates the work hours. Since this method minimizes errors that are associated with manual time tracking methods, see if the time tracking solution includes auto-time recording capabilities.
Does the tool allow you to export data?
If at the end of a month, quarter, or year, you want to understand clock-in and out patterns or see how much time is being spent on projects, you’d want the ability to export the record data to a data analysis solution. Check if the tool allows you to do so. Understand if you can convert the data into PDFs or CSVs.
Can you create bills and invoices using the tool?
You will need bills and invoices during the time of payouts and creating them manually can be redundant. Learn about the tool’s expense tracking abilities to generate bills and invoices automatically. Some time tracking tools also send out these bills and invoices to clients automatically. If this is something that your small businesses can benefit from, ensure that expense tracking and billing, and invoicing is a part of the tool you pick.

Time Tracking Experiment: What I Learned After Analyzing Every Minute of My Life for 30 Days
![write a review for time tracker time-tracking-tutorial primary img](https://images.ctfassets.net/lzny33ho1g45/time-tracking-tutorial-p-img/845b5d334facfd377cfc224266b9cbaf/file.png?w=1520&fm=jpg&q=30&fit=thumb&h=760)
"How we spend our days is of course how we spend our lives," wrote author Annie Dillard. "What we do with this hour and that one is what we are doing."
No matter what you think your priorities are, what you actually devote your time to is what you’re choosing to make a priority in your life. But how many people really know how they spend every minute or their days?
We actually have a lot of minutes every day—1,440 of them to be specific. Even accounting for a healthy eight hours of sleep, that’s nearly 1,000 minutes to fill with everything you want to do. And yet, I often get to the end of the day and feel like I didn’t have enough time for everything that mattered. Something must be taking more time than it deserves, and I wanted to figure out what so I could stop wasting time and make every day more meaningful.
So, I decided to track every moment of my time for a month and find out how my idea of how I spent my time matched up with reality. Here’s how I did it, what I learned, and why you might want to do it, too. (Spoiler alert: Like tracking your budget to manage your finances or your daily calorie intake to manage your diet, tracking your time can help you manage your most precious resource.)
Step 1: Choose Your Time Categories
Over the course of the month, I’d track over 43,000 minutes. I needed to come up with some general categories of where my time went in order to be able to label each time entry and make that data meaningful.
So, I thought about my life and the areas where I wanted to devote time to. After some brainstorming, I landed on the following eight categories:
Paid work (e.g., freelance clients)
Passion work (e.g., side projects)
Professional development (e.g., business development, networking, job applications)
Personal development (e.g., journaling, classes or workshops, inspiring reading)
Relationships (e.g., spending time with family, phone calls with friends, dates)
Play (e.g., shopping, TV, casual reading, going out)
Wellness (e.g., working out, taking necessary breaks, self care)
Support work (e.g., volunteering, mentoring)
I also had to get real and create a couple categories for areas I knew some of my time went to, even if I wasn’t thrilled about that fact. These included:
Distractions (e.g., flipping through social media mindlessly, taking extra time to get out of bed in the morning)
Maintenance (e.g., running errands, getting ready, doing chores)
While I tracked sleep to make sure I accurately kept up with 24 hours in a day, I didn't include it in my analysis because I know it accounts for about a third of my time and don’t want to change that. If cutting back on sleep to make room for other things interests you, it might be worth tracking here, too. I decided to focus just on how I spend my waking hours.
Most of these categories probably apply to everyone, but yours may be a little different. Do your best to come up with areas you think your time goes to—or want it to go to, even if you’re not actually focusing on them that right now. Try to keep it to around 10 categories so you don’t get overwhelmed with options.
Step 2: Determine Your Ideal Allocation of Time
While I wanted to do my best to not judge how I was spending my time during the experiment—to just track it as it is and analyze at the end—I did want to have a baseline to compare my results to. This wasn't a hypothesis of how I spend my time, but more of a vision for how I would like my time to be allocated.
When doing this exercise, think about how many hours in a week you want to spend doing something and figure out a percentage from there. The reason a week might be more meaningful than a day is that things can differ a lot day to day—weekends are different from weekday, for example—but are usually pretty normalized week over week.
Editor's note: You can apply this strategy to get a clearer breakdown of where your time goes at work, too. Just adjust the categories to break the workday into types of tasks.
Step 3: Set Up Your Tools
Here are a few ways you can automate the time tracking with popular apps:
Create a RescueTime highlight when a Trello card is moved

Create Google Sheets rows for every new time entry in Toggl Track

Step 4: Start Tracking!
Now it’s time to get going! Pick a morning to start as soon as you wake up, put a reminder on your calendar to stop tracking time 4 weeks from that day, and start recording your time.
The first thing I noticed when I started tracking was a lot of resistance. It’s so hard to remember to do this, it takes more time to track everything than it’s worth, I thought. Spoiler alert: I’m glad I pushed through this initial resistance and tracked the whole time as I learned some interesting things.
That said, it was very easy to forget I was supposed to be tracking my time, especially in the first week or so of doing it. After a day or so of continuously forgetting, I set periodic reminders on my phone to notify me throughout the day. I also decided I would check in at the end of every day to make sure I had accounted for my whole day.
The other thing I immediately noticed was how hard it is to categorize certain swaths of time.
Sometimes it was because I felt like I was doing multiple things in one activity. Take cooking: Cooking seems like a maintenance activity, but it’s also something I enjoy doing, so I could see it as wellness at the end of a long day and, if I’m cooking with someone else, that could also be considered nurturing for my relationships.
Other times, it was because I couldn’t really put my finger on what I was doing. The internet was partially at fault for this—I noticed how often I spent time puttering on the internet, kind of doing work, kind of touching base with friends or acquaintances, kind of being distracted by cat videos.
Here are a few things that helped me categorize my time in a meaningful way:
Label Your Time While Categorizing It: A label might be a detailed description of what you were actually doing during that time—for example "watching TV" or "answering emails"—while the category such as "play" or "work" is the broader umbrella. Using both is helpful for a few reasons. First, if you ever forgot to categorize something, it makes it easier to go back later and put them in the correct categories. Second, when analyzing results, you'll be able to in your biggest time sucks in the categories where you're spending too much time.
At the Very Least, Track Now and Categorize Later: Toggl lets you track time even if you don’t have a label or category for it yet, so if you finish a task but aren’t sure what you’re doing next, just start the timer and when you come back to stop it and switch to the next task, you can fill in the category and label.
Decide Where Lost Time Goes: At the end of every day, I checked in to make sure I had accounted for all my time. Most nights, I noticed somewhere between 10 and 30 minutes of what I call "lost time"—time I forgot to track but the activity wasn’t memorable enough to prompt me to track it. It’s likely you’ll have this too, so decide where you want this time to go based on where you usually "lose" time. I decided to shuffle all this into maintenance since I think this was usually spent flitting around the house tidying up or getting ready. Maybe you know you lose a lot to social media and decide to put it in "distracting" or somewhere else instead.
Step 5: Analyze the Results
Once you've finished your four weeks, it’s time to analyze the results. No matter how you decided to track, I’d recommend tallying up the total hours in each category, and putting them into an Excel or Google Sheets spreadsheet to easily make percentage graphs.
When all was said and done, here’s where my month of time went:
As a reminder, here was my ideal:
A couple of things immediately stood out—the amount of time I spend on "play" and "maintenance" is grossly over my ideals, causing me to lose time in important areas like work, development, relationships, and wellness.
When I dug into those categories more, I could better understand where that time was going—and make decisions for how I wanted to change that. Looking at my "play" category, I could see that watching TV took up an amount of time I was hugely uncomfortable with—about a full work week of time in a month! In my defense, I made the mistake of getting on the Twin Peaks train during this exercise, but seeing that made me confront the realities of binging shows and whether that’s really how I wanted to spend my time. While I agree that TV can be a wonderful way to wind down at the end of the day, it made me think of other ways I may want to spend my time and how I can better balance that habit with other things.
Within maintenance, I could see a lot of my time went to driving—more than I had anticipated. I knew I could make that time more meaningful for myself by lining up interesting podcasts that contribute to my personal or professional development.
Obviously, your priorities and numbers are probably going to look very different than mine, but go through this exercise of being really honest with yourself as you look at your results. Where are you not happy to know you’re spending so much time—or not enough? What are the things that seem to be time sucks, and how might you be able to reduce the time spent on those to open up space for other things?
I was also surprised to realize how simply doing this activity had effected some of my bad time habits. During the 4 weeks, I slowly found myself:
Being more conscious of time: Simply the act of tracking was making me more aware of how I was spending my time—and more likely to stop spending it in ways I didn’t want. Having to start a timer on my morning Instagram browse wasn’t enough to make me want to stop entirely, but was enough to make me want to get off there quickly so I could stop the clock.
Limiting multitasking: It also made me more likely to monotask. Since it's challenging to track if you’re often switching between different tasks, I found myself more often sticking with one task until it was done, and then moving onto the next.
Finally, doing this experiment made me appreciate how much time there really is in a day. After taking a cold, hard look at all the things I was able to do in the course of a day, a week, a month—and the ways I felt I wasted time—it’s harder for me now to think "I don’t have time for that." It’s clear to me now that, I do have the time, I just have to be mindful about how I prioritize it.
Tracking your time is not meant to make you feel bad or guilt you into changing your habits. It simply gives you the power of information. You may look at the data and want to change nothing—or it may make you want to change everything—but at least you’ll feel confident that you know where the precious minutes of your life are going.

Billie Eilish – ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ review: bold, brilliant and somewhat brighter
On the US star's third album, there are upbeat bangers and a clear vision established for her artistry in the years to come
The last time NME spoke to Billie Eilish , change was afoot. On the eve of her massive Glastonbury headline appearance in 2022 , she said that she was “trying to find myself again” and that she “felt pretty trapped in the persona that people had of me”. Identity crises are not uncommon in Billie’s career; in fact, they’ve provided much of its motor. 2019’s zeitgeist-busting debut ‘When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?’ encapsulated the pre-pandemic Gen Z experience: it was anxious and uncertain about growing up, and revolutionary in its abrasive, bedroom-pop sound. Then came ‘Happier Than Ever’ , a sprawling – if somewhat kitschy – epic that was aesthetically inspired by old-school cool and classic songwriters like Julie London. She swapped her baggy, neon clothing for pin-up dresses and bleach blonde hair.
No wonder, then, that in 2023 the 22 year-old was ruminating on ‘What Was I Made For?’ , her Oscar-winning contribution to the Barbie soundtrack . “Think I forgot how to be happy / Something I’m not, but something I can be” , she purred, a song supposedly about Margot Robbie’s titular character but was as much directed at its creator. Who was Billie Eilish, it pondered, and what was her purpose? Disruptive force anointed as a leader for her environmental-wary generation, or simply another young person trying to find their place in the world?
‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ is a portrait of who she is now, and who she could go on to become. The album’s no-single rollout and occasional snippets – either at Coachella DJ sets or in Heartstopper soundtracks – have offered few clues, and a Rolling Stone profile offered, well, perhaps a little too much for some people’s tastes . But still, it was clear that she wanted to get personal: “This whole process has felt like I’m coming back to the girl I was [in 2019]. I’ve been grieving her. This isn’t an album about happiness, but there are at least glimmers of the full human experience for once.
‘Skinny’ follows Eilish’s trend of using the opening track to set the table for the rest of the album. First there was the 13-second goofy skit ‘!!!!!!!’ on her debut, encapsulating how it feels to make an album at home with your best pal, older brother Finneas. Then ‘Happier Than Ever’’s curtain-raiser ‘Getting Older’, was a wistful, sighing opener about how it feels to grow up as the most talked-about teenager on the planet
This time, it’s about confidence and self-reflection: “People say I look happy, just because I got skinny / But the old me is still me, maybe the real me, and I think she’s pretty” . She soon engages with her own narrative much like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande did on their recent albums: “Am I acting my real age now? Am I already on the way down? When I step off stage I’m a bird in a cage and a dog in a dog pound”. It finishes with a gorgeous orchestral flourish akin to her work on Bond song ‘No Time To Die’ with Hans Zimmer . It’s a superb song, one of her best ever.
‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’, then, is undeniably brighter in sound and more confident in its execution. ‘Lunch’ is a return to the same pulsing beat of ‘Bad Guy’ and ‘Bury A Friend’, interspersing a guitar riff with the same type of ravey beats she dabbled with tentatively on second album deep cut ‘Oxytocin’. ‘Lunch’ is explicit, too, in Eilish’s “cravings” for the first time, particularly since she’s spoken more openly about embracing her queer identity: “I could eat that girl for lunch / Yeah, she dances on my tongue / Tastes like she might be the one”.
‘Birds of Feather’ is a love song written from the perspective of someone who finally knows how it feels to be valued, though it might not be the happy ending she wants. Amidst one of her best vocal performances, she is devastated even if she doesn’t quite sound it: “I don’t know what I’m crying for, I don’t think I could love you more” . ‘The Greatest’ is a sequel to ‘Happier Than Ever’’s title track, a subtle build that explodes with a guitar solo ending and yearning; this time, the explosive rage is replaced with thankless acts of service to keep a partner interested.
Recommended
What makes ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ so enjoyable is its ruthlessness – the 10 tracks are the fewest she’s had on an album, but they’re just as experimental and playful as her previous work. ‘L’Amour De La Vie’ – Love of My Life – starts off with a smokey, Laufey -esque vocal delivery, then flips into ‘Blinding Lights’-aping ‘80s synth pop. ‘Blue’, meanwhile, has something of Lana Del Rey’s ‘A&W’ in its willingness to flip the script and straddle two distinctly different sonic universes, from radio-friendly pop-rock, to sparse, murky electronic beats. Few moments are wasted, though ‘Bittersuite’ exists mainly as a production flex for Billie and Finneas, and ‘The Diner’ is quirky, if somewhat pedestrian next to some of these songwriting odysseys.
Billie came into this process with aspirations to find herself, creatively and personally: ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ remains distinctly unique, a portrait of a singular talent entering young adulthood, exploring her queerness and experiencing the emotional thrill and (sometimes) catastrophe of chasing passion or falling in love. In trying to write an album for herself, she’s made one that will resonate harder than anything she’s done before.

How sweep it is: GlenOak boys and girls track and field teams win district championships

- GlenOak won the boys and girls team titles for the first time since 2015 on Friday at the Hoover Division I district track and field meet.
- The GlenOak girls team has won every meet this season.
- Sprinter Ryder Greenwood had a hand in four wins for the GlenOak boys.
NORTH CANTON — Even a track and field program as successful as GlenOak's found it difficult to do in recent years.
This time the Golden Eagles found a way to end the Division I district meet at Hoover with a double celebration.
HIGH SCHOOL TRACK AND FIELD: 'Hyper-focused on the goal': Jackson boys 3,200 relay team hungry for more state success
GlenOak swept the boys and girls team titles for the first time in nine years Friday night. Head coach Scott Ferrell's teams had won five district championships between them since 2015. This year both teams had first place wrapped up with one event to spare.
"It has been a good year," Ferrell said.
The Golden Eagles should have plenty of chances over the next weeks to make it even better.
The only event the GlenOak girls won Friday — the 1,600 relay — came after they had clinched the team title. Six runner-up finishes, four thirds and two fourths helped the Golden Eagles extend their unbeaten run as a team this season.
"That girls team is just so special," Ferrell said. "We didn't write a lineup to win this meet. We just moved people to where we could move forward the best. They just continue to show what they can do."
The Golden Eagles were trailing Jackson with five events to go. Addison Hamm and Hannah Pace produced nine points in the 300-meter hurdles. Panagiota Tzouloufis and Sophia Ngetich pushed GlenOak ahead to stay when they finished second and third, respectively, in the 800.
The unbeaten run has not weighed on the Golden Eagles one bit.
"We just talk about getting better in your event and doing what you know how to do each and every week," Ferrell said. "Winning this is certainly icing on the cake and it's a whole lot of fun, but we really don't focus on the team win."
Ryder Greenwood, Ja'Brailon Wilcox help set pace for GlenOak boys
Ryan Greenwood and Ja'Brailon Wilcox finishing one-two in the 100 was a sign of things to come for the GlenOak boys.
The senior sprinters never slowed down. Greenwood and Wilcox also went one-two in the 200 and ran on the Golden Eagles' winning 400 and 800 relays. They had a hand in 76 of the 111 points GlenOak scored.
Greenwood was the only boys four-time winner Friday. The Federal League Male Track and Field Athlete of the Year bounced back from a runner-up finish to Perry's Carson Basham in the 200 at last week's league meet .
"I didn't know we were going to go one-two, but we pulled it off," Greenwood said of himself and Wilcox in the 200.
Greenwood anchored the winning 400 and 800 relays.
"I like winning the opens, but I like the relays more," Greenwood said. "You get to see all your teammates also win.
"Brailon, he was a big part. He didn't really run last year. We have teammates who work hard."
Amahrie Harsh ends run on Hoover track in style
Hoover's Amahrie Harsh couldn't have asked for a better finish to the final meet on her home track.
Harsh swept the girls open 100, 200 and 400 sprints and anchored the Vikings' winning 800 relay. She also won all four events at last week's Federal League meet.
Harsh was selected the league's female track and field athlete of the year this season.
Around the track and fields
Here are some other highlights from the final day of the district meet:
- Louisville's Sloane Sypolt completed a throws sweep with a her win in the discus. The University of Akron signee is considered the Leopards' top girls thrower since record holder Sarah Gertz in the early 2010s.
- Lake's Daniela Scheffler and Louisville's Kylah Meyer finished one-two in both the 1,600 and 3,200.
- Massillon's Trinity Lamp swept the 100 and 300 hurdles.

The Best Beach Umbrella That Didn't Budge (Even on Super Windy Days)
We evaluated popular beach umbrellas from Costco, Tommy Bahama, Walmart, and other brands. We loved one model a lot, and one flew into the ocean—twice!

All beach umbrellas look the same—until you set them up on a windy day and one flies into the Atlantic Ocean before you can kick off your flip-flops (true story).
After evaluating five popular beach umbrellas, our biggest takeaway is that the subtle design differences among the umbrellas matter a lot. Sometimes the eye-catching choice or the lightest, most portable umbrella falls flat—literally—the second the wind blows.
- Also Covered: UPF Protection Safety Concerns How We Evaluated the Beach Umbrellas
We took our umbrellas to Long Beach, N.Y., on two days.
On the first day, the average wind speed was 16 mph with moderately strong 24 mph gusts, according to Visual Crossing.
We then took our favorite and least favorite umbrellas to the same beach on a different day, when Visual Crossing stated the average wind speed registered 21 mph with strong 34 mph gusts. We evaluated how easy they were to set up and take down, any great features they boasted or lacked, and how well they stayed steady as the wind blew and sometimes roared. We also weighed each umbrella in its carrying bag and measured the canopies to estimate how much shade coverage each provides (our numbers may differ slightly from the manufacturer’s numbers).
One of our prettiest umbrellas emerged as the clear-cut winner, while a very popular brand flew right out of the sand within seconds on two occasions. Here’s how each fared.

2024 Preakness Stakes: Analyzing the horses in the field including favorites, contenders and pretenders

Immediately following Mystik Dan’s win in Kentucky Derby 150, trainer Ken McPeek said he wasn’t sure he’d send the colt to run in the Preakness.
His comment was met with widespread skepticism, and justifiably so: Last weekend, McPeek confirmed that his Derby winner would indeed contest the second leg of the Triple Crown.
Two other Derby runners, Catching Freedom and Just Steel, will also run on Saturday afternoon.
Still banned by Churchill Downs from running horses in the Derby, Bob Baffert was expected to run two horses at Pimlico, including favored Muth, but Muth was scratched on Wednesday morning after coming down with a fever. With that change, Mystik Dan inherited the status of the favorite on the morning line.
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, but there’s rain in the forecast for Saturday, as there was for the Kentucky Derby. That rain did indeed materialize in Louisville, but far enough before the race that the track ended up being rated “fast” by post time. The current forecast suggests that that will not be the case in Baltimore, so handicap accordingly.
Post time for the Preakness is 7:01 p.m. ET. CNBC will air coverage from 1:30-4:30 p.m. ET and it’ll switch to NBC at 4:30. Streaming throughout the day is available on NBCSports.com, the NBC Sports app, and Peacock.
In post-position order, here’s your look at the field for the Grade 1, $2 million Preakness Stakes, with a focus on wet track performances, running styles, and race records. Good luck and safe trips to all.
Owner: Average Joe Racing Stables, Dan Wells
Trainer: Jeff Engler
Jockey: Joe Bravo
Morning line odds: 20-1
He’s never run on an off-track. His only effort in a graded stakes race resulted in a fifth-place finish by open lengths. Could be one who flourishes on a wet track, but I’m passing. He was the second alternate for the Kentucky Derby, but did not run.
2 – Uncle Heavy
Owner: Michael Milam and LC Racing
Trainer: Robert Reid Jr.
Jockey: Irad Ortiz Jr.
Well-known in the Midlantic, trainer Robert Reid might not be familiar to casual racing fans, but he’s got a reputation as a good horseman, and I think he’s got a shot here to win the biggest race of his career. The storyline is a good one — Uncle Heavy was bred by Reid’s sister-in-law Barbara and is named for her husband, Reid’s brother Mark — but beyond sentimental support, Uncle Heavy has a chance to upset on Saturday. He’s run twice on wet tracks, winning both races, including the Grade 3 Withers Stakes. His stalking style will be compromised if Imagination emerges as the lone speed (which is likely), but if anyone decides to go with Imagination, Uncle Heavy might be able to stick around at the end. He’s going to be on my tickets, on top and underneath.
![write a review for time tracker](https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2024/05/16132629/GettyImages-2151284465-scaled.jpg)
3 – Catching Freedom
Owner: Albaugh Family Stables
Trainer: Brad Cox
Jockey: Flavien Prat
Morning line odds: 6-1
He’s pretty much a closer, which doesn’t bode well for his chances in a race that is unlikely to be contested as a speed duel. I thought he had a shot underneath in the Derby, and finished fourth by less than two lengths; he may well move up here, though I’d downgrade his chances on an off-track, at least for the win.
Owner: Zedan Racing Stables
Trainer: Bob Baffert
Jockey: Juan Hernandez
Morning line odds: SCRATCH
Preakness favorite Muth has been scratched from Saturday’s race due to a high temperature.
5 – Mystik Dan
Owner: Lance Gasaway, 4 G Racing, Daniel Hamby III, Valley View Farm
Trainer: Ken McPeek
Jockey: Brian Hernandez Jr.
Morning line odds: 5-2
In my Derby preview, I wrote, “Another who loves the slop — he won the Grade 3 Southwest Stakes at Oaklawn Park by eight lengths on a muddy track — and that may be the primary reason to consider him on Saturday, though his ability to rate off the pace in the Southwest after beginning his career as an early leader is a promising development. His performances have been inconsistent; the mud moves him up, but not enough to win.” OK, I was kind of right — and wrong. With Muth gone and two wins early in his career from on or just off the pace, and the possibility of rain, there’s nothing not to like about his chances.
6 – Seize the Grey
Owner: Myracehorse
Trainer: D. Wayne Lukas
Jockey: Jaime Torres
Morning line odds: 15-1
One of the few horses here that has shown a proclivity for going to the lead and had success doing it. After a maiden win in which he led gate-to-wire — on a sloppy track — he’s become more of a stalking type, but might he try to engage Imagination early? Damned if he does, because Imagination is the better horse, and damned if he doesn’t, because he’s not good enough to close into the pace that Imagination is likely to set. He’s used to running against lesser competition, though he did win the Grade 2 Pat Day Mile last out — thinking that the distance will be his downfall and perhaps he is useful underneath in your betting.
![write a review for time tracker](https://cdn.theathletic.com/app/uploads/2024/05/16132835/GettyImages-2151135562-scaled.jpg)
7 – Just Steel
Owner: BC Stables, LLC, Henry Schmueckle
Jockey: Joel Rosario
Just Steel initially ran with the pacesetter in the Derby, then faded badly to finish 17th by 33 lengths, and that strategy is unlikely to work here, either. He’s run poorly on off-tracks, and though he’s bred from Triple Crown winner Justify, who won this race in 2018 in one of the worst rainstorms I’ve seen at a racetrack, I don’t see him following in his father’s hoofprints.
8 – Tuscan Gold
Owner: William H. Lawrence, Walmac Farm, Stonestreet Stables LLC
Trainer: Chad Brown
Jockey: Tyler Gaffalione
Morning line odds: 8-1
Very lightly raced compared to his rivals here, this $600,000 yearling purchase has only a maiden win on his resume, that coming in January. Trainer Chad Brown has seen him as a distance horse from the start, never running him at less than a mile, and while the talent is there, this feels like a big ask. No off-track experience and very little experience of any kind.
9 – Imagination
Jockey: Frankie Dettori
He cost $1.05 million as a yearling, his ownership group includes some of the sport’s heaviest hitters and he’s got Baffert as a trainer and Dettori as a rider. On paper, everything about this horse screams “superstar.” In six races, he’s got two wins and four seconds, and like many a Baffert horse, he may well go to the lead and stay there, especially with no other frontrunners to challenge him. Three of his runner-up performances, including in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Derby, have come by a neck. 6-1 feels generous, and I’ve got him as the most likely winner.

Easily track time on various projects
I have been using “WebWork Timetracker” for over a year to keep track of time spent helping out my friends on various projects. In the past I utilized a stopwatch app and an Excel spreadsheet, WWTT makes it much easier by blending the two AND still allowing me to keep track of multiple projects in one convenient place. It also has features for more professional usage such a multiple employees/teams, varied tasks within a project, and assigning employees to projects and/or tasks within a project. To top it off there is an invoicing feature. There are more ways to track and create reports for every project and probably more things that I haven’t touched on. I highly recommend you investigate WWTT for yourself, then give it a trial run.
Can track multiple projects from a single interface Can set multiple task for each projects Easy access to start and stop on the desktop Can manually add in time spent on the project but away from the computer Ability to create reports on time spent on each project/task Can create invoices from reports
The default time out is only seven minutes, but that can be adjusted in setting, but you then have to log out and back it in for change to go into affect. I do a lot of tasks that require watching videos and/or doing a lot of "mouse only" work that the program doesn't register and will log me out so I often have to use the Manual Time add function.

WebWork Time Tracker Experience
Highly recommended. A simple software with everything you need.
The app is simple and user friendly. You don't have to worry on loosing some mins to hours of your working time by using their software. Generation of reports are also good and lets you keep track of your statistics. Customer Support keeps you updated on your cases that you don't have to contact them because they will contact you.
Had a problem before with the software since I am using Mac since it hangs until such time that I am not able to click anything. This has been resolved because they released a new version but it took longer. Good thing I have a backup PC (Windows) where the software version works well.

Easy to use tracker for entrepreneurs and Managers
The tracker is great and also cheap. Customer service is good but a little to respond. I hope this part improves.
The Software has a clean Interface, intuitive and easy to use. The screenshot feature is effective and the employee can control the time tracked after the time was recorded, thus being able to avoid unintentional tracking.
Some settings are not there (or harder to find) like deactivating the screenshot option.

It would be nice for there be to be a plug of sorts that can be used with CSM systems like freshworks and sales force that are used for phone calls, so the webwork tracker can track when calls are taking place and possible times for no typing for a period of time.
Good time tracking software with real time screenshots and reports.
The time tracking feature and most likely feature is it shows all reports and data so you can check how much time you spent on which task.
cons of this software are one that it takes some time while you change something in the activity description or in the timeline ex: task title.
Since WFH is a thing after covid, some member don't actually work when they need or are double dipping on the company's time, and this app is a great way for ruling those out.
It supports almost every OS under the sky for time tracking
Apps crash from time to time, and the mobile version don't always seem to work properly, you need to manually check for updates or sometimes uninstall and install them again.

The 149th Preakness Stakes saw one of the smaller fields, with eight horses competing for the second jewel of the Triple Crown. There was a clear favorite amid the live odds for the Pimlico race. But it was Seize the Grey in the end.
The Preakness Stakes, established in 1873, has a rich history and is a significant event in the world of horse racing. It is known for its unique traditions and has often been a turning point in the Triple Crown race.
In a surprising turn of events, Derby winner Mystik Dan took the lead in odds following the withdrawal of the early favorite, Muth, due to a spike in temperature. Muth, a horse trained by the legendary eight-time Preakness winner Bob Baffert, was a strong contender to take home the title. Last year, Baffert's horse National Treasure emerged victorious in the Preakness, and he will be looking to add a ninth victory to his record with his other horse in the race, Imagination.
The Preakness Stakes, a race known for its unpredictability, and it was the 9-1 odds horse Seize the Grey from Pimlico with Mystik Dan coming in second.
