Best Paraphrasing Tool | Free & Premium Tools Compared

Published on 5 December 2022 by Koen Driessen . Revised on 23 May 2023.

Paraphrasing means rewording something – expressing the same idea in different words. Paraphrasing tools (or paraphrasers) are AI-powered online tools that can automatically rewrite your text for you. Students often use them to improve their writing and provide inspiration – making their text more formal, more fluent, or more concise.

But which online paraphrasers are really reliable at producing correct and readable English? To find out, we tested seven of the most popular free tools – and their premium versions when available.

We wrote three short sample texts to test their ability to improve text that was long-winded , grammatically incorrect , or disjointed . We ran these texts through all the different tools and assessed the fluency and accuracy of the output. We also took the user-friendliness of the tools into consideration.

The results show that the premium versions of Wordtune and QuillBot are the best tools out there, each excelling in different ways. If you’re looking for a free tool, Paraphrase Tool and QuillBot are the strongest options.

wordtune-premium

  • Paragraph rewrite mode is unique and helpful
  • Does well with both disjointed and ungrammatical text
  • 10 options for each paraphrase
  • $24.99 per month
  • ‘Shorten’ mode not great
  • Interface can be slightly buggy

Wordtune’s premium version was overall the most useful tool we tested. It provided a selection of 10 rewrites for each text. Not all of these were great, but there were generally a few good options in each case.

Where Wordtune stood out was in its whole-paragraph paraphrasing mode, which was able to combine sentences in an intelligent way, thus improving our disjointed and grammatically incorrect texts significantly. Unfortunately, the ‘Shorten’ mode did little to actually shorten long-winded text, mostly functioning quite similarly to the standard rewrite mode.

We found the look of the site fairly clean and appreciated that it offers 10 different suggestions for each sentence. But we did find the interface somewhat awkward at times, and it was occasionally unable to generate suggestions in certain modes or would only generate one suggestion, suggesting some imperfections in the technology.

quillbot-premium

  • Great for shortening long-winded text
  • Reliable, accurate, grammatically correct output
  • Interactive synonym finder
  • Seven modes with noticeably different results
  • $19.95 per month (3-day money-back guarantee)
  • No paragraph rewrite mode
  • Does little to improve disjointed text

The premium version of QuillBot was one of the strongest paraphrasers we tested. Its ‘Shorten’ mode was the best option for making long-winded text more concise. Unlike all other tools, it could consistently distinguish between unnecessary verbiage and essential details, often reducing the text’s length by more than 50% without compromising meaning.

With the grammatically incorrect text, QuillBot was quite consistent in its ability to remove glaring grammatical errors. But with this and the disjointed text, its ability to resolve sentence fragments was limited, since it seems to lack the ability to combine sentences – it only looks at each sentence individually. This problem was shared by most of the other tools we tested.

QuillBot’s interface is simple and usable, allowing you to choose from seven paraphrasing modes and manually adjust the number of synonyms. Paraphrasing is quick, and changes are clearly highlighted. You can also click on individual words to see more synonyms, with detailed information about how each should be used, making it flexible and informative.

paraphrase-tool-free

  • ‘Summary’ mode is very good
  • Handles all kinds of texts well (in ‘Summary’ mode)
  • Other modes are very inaccurately labeled
  • Some modes add irrelevant content
  • Changes not marked in the text

Paraphrase Tool offered a large selection of different modes to paraphrase our text, some of them very useful. The most useful mode by far (for all of our texts) was ‘Summary’, which did a decent job of shortening the long-winded text and was able to combine sentences in the disjointed and grammatically confused texts, creating a much smoother read.

We found that other modes were not very accurately labeled: The ‘Shorten’ mode often produced a longer text than ‘Standard’ when the long-winded text was used. ‘Grammar’ mode appeared to just produce very long-winded and repetitive text, while ‘Smooth’ mode added a lot of text that was not based on anything in the original.

We appreciated the clean, minimalistic design of the site, but we did find it unhelpful that the changes made are not marked in any way in the output text. You’re also required to buy a subscription after a certain number of inputs, which isn’t clear when you start. In general, this is a strong paraphraser in ‘Summary’ mode but a very unreliable one in other modes.

Try Paraphrase Tool

quillbot-free

  • Free, quick, and easy to use
  • No ‘Shorten’ mode in the free version

We found QuillBot’s free version almost as reliable as the premium option. Its changes were generally logical and fluent, staying true to the meaning of the original text while improving flow. And, like the premium version, it resolved grammatical errors well.

That said, its ability to cut down long-winded text was restricted, since the ‘Shorten’ mode is a premium feature. The two free modes, ‘Standard’ and ‘Fluency’, performed well for other purposes but did little to deal with long-windedness.

The other main differences are a word limit of 125 words per paraphrase and the fact that the highest setting for synonyms can’t be selected. Besides those changes, we found the interface just as usable in the free version as in the premium one.

paraphrase-tool-premium

  • ‘Summary’ mode is very good (but also available for free)
  • No limit on inputs
  • $7.99 per month (3-day free trial)
  • Extra modes are not worth the cost, often ridiculous

Paraphrase Tool’s premium version allows you unlimited paraphrases and unlocks 11 additional modes: ‘Academic’, ‘Confident’, ‘Simple’, ‘Smart’, ‘Clear’, ‘Thoughtful’, ‘Elaborate’, ‘Creative’, ‘Formal’,  ‘Cohesive’, and ‘Emphatic’.

However, we found that these modes weren’t very useful or very accurately labeled. The ‘Summary’ mode, already available in the free version, remained the best choice for all of our texts. Other modes like ‘Emphatic’ inserted a lot of irrelevant text that had nothing to do with the original, generally making the text much longer and largely incoherent.

Because of this, the only real reason to pay for this tool is to remove the limit on inputs. But if you’re willing to pay, there are better options available. As the only part we can give a solid recommendation to, ‘Summary’ mode, is available for free, we don’t recommend paying.

wordtune-free

Wordtune’s free version lacks the option to paraphrase whole paragraphs, the feature that really stood out to us, so it doesn’t score as well as the premium version.

Without this feature, Wordtune did perform decently at making sense of the grammatically incorrect text, although it didn’t make it all that fluent. But like other tools that work on a sentence-by-sentence basis, it did a poor job of improving disjointed text. The ‘Shorten’ mode performed similarly to the premium version – not terribly, but not all that well.

We found it unfortunate that it limits users to 10 sentence rewrites per day in the free version and that rewrites can only be done on one sentence at a time. As with the premium version, we did like the overall look of the site. But if you’re looking for a free tool, QuillBot or Paraphrase Tool are better options.

rephrase-free

  • Paraphrases are reasonably fluent
  • Some changes distort meaning
  • Full of adverts
  • Slow and inconvenient to use

Rephrase did a moderately good job paraphrasing our texts. Its changes were generally more advanced than simply swapping out some words for synonyms, and they tended to mostly retain the original meaning (although with some differences such as changing ‘we’ to ‘I’).

It tended to resolve obvious grammatical problems effectively, although it couldn’t make the text completely smooth. It performed similarly to other tools with disjointed text, failing to combine sentences. It managed to cut down the long-winded text more than most and divide one sentence into two to improve readability, but some of its changes distorted the meaning.

In terms of usability, we found that the paraphrase sometimes loaded quite slowly, and the requirement to complete a captcha for repeated inputs was annoying. The site was also full of flashy adverts that were quite distracting and seemed to slow down the page.

Try Rephrase

paraphraser-io-free

  • Ensures basic grammatical correctness
  • Quite basic rewrites
  • Some highly inaccurate synonyms and bugs with output
  • Very slow and buggy

Paraphraser.io’s rewrites were fairly basic. While it made some small changes to sentence structure, it mainly just swapped individual words out for synonyms, which were often highly inaccurate (e.g., changing ‘could’ to ‘bottle’). It could not deal with long-winded text well, since it lacked a ‘Shorten’ mode and tended to make the text even longer.

Its changes to the grammatically muddled text did usually ensure basic correctness, but not much fluency. Like the other tools, it was unable to do much to improve the flow of the disjointed text, since it wouldn’t combine sentences or add transition words. Occasionally, we saw errors like the insertion of sentence fragments without initial capitalisation.

In terms of usability, we found it unfortunate that the paraphrased text loaded extremely slowly (and sometimes just failed to load). We appreciated the ability to click on individual words to see synonyms, but as noted, a lot of these synonyms were just wrong. Overall, the interface was poor.

Try Paraphraser.io

rephrase-premium

  • $20 per month
  • New modes add little
  • Still full of adverts
  • Still slow and inconvenient to use

The premium version of Rephrase adds three extra modes, ‘Creative’, ‘Smart’, and ‘Formal’. We noticed little difference between these modes and the free ones, and we don’t see them as worth paying for.

In terms of usability, we found it annoying that you’re still required to complete a captcha for each paraphrase, even after paying for the tool, and that the same flashy adverts still appear in the premium version. You get remarkably little for your money with the premium version of Rephrase.

paraphraser-io-premium

  • Doesn’t actually remove adverts
  • Very slow, buggy, and confusing interface
  • No real advantages over free version

This tool’s premium version did not really add anything of value. The main selling point, the ‘Creative’ and ‘Smarter’ modes, performed very similarly to the free ‘Fluency’ mode, with no real advantages. The slow loading times were also no better in the premium version.

Other pros included a word limit increase to 1,500 words – not very helpful when the tool only paraphrases on a sentence-by-sentence basis anyway. The premium version is also supposed to remove adverts, but in practice we still saw adverts when using this version, so it’s not clear what is meant by this.

We don’t find this tool a very good option to begin with, and we certainly don’t find the premium version to be worth the cost.

spinbot

  • Interface looks quite nice
  • Doesn’t really paraphrase, just swaps words for synonyms
  • Creates a lot of inaccuracies
  • Doesn’t correct grammatical errors
  • Doesn’t highlight changes
  • ‘Advanced Paraphrase’ just redirects to QuillBot

We found SpinBot’s functionality to be extremely basic and produce a lot of errors. It did not do any real paraphrasing (changing the sentence structure) but simply swapped out a few words for synonyms, often highly inappropriate ones.

Because of this very basic approach, it failed to correct any of the grammatical errors in grammatically incorrect text. It also could not do anything useful for either the long-winded or the disjointed text, since it made no changes to structure whatsoever.

In terms of interface, the site has a nice enough look, but it doesn’t highlight the changes it has made in any way. Its ‘Advanced Paraphrase’ button just redirects to QuillBot. Basic paraphrasing is fairly quick, but – as mentioned above – not very good.

Try SpinBot’s paraphrasing tool

pre-post-seo-free

  • Very basic paraphrasing
  • Creates lots of grammatical errors
  • Poorly designed interface
  • Many features buggy or broken
  • Slow to use

Pre Post SEO offered a few modes for paraphrasing: ‘Simple’, which just swaps out a few words for (usually inaccurate) synonyms, producing very poor text; ‘Advanced’, which makes slightly more extensive changes but produces a lot of errors; or ‘Fluency’, which does the same with fewer (but still some) errors.

None of these modes were very effective at improving any of our three texts. ‘Fluency’ mode was at least able to resolve some grammatical errors, but its changes tended to make all of the texts less, not more, readable.

The interface of the site was very poor. Besides inserting errors into your text, the page is full of flashy adverts and often freezes, forcing you to refresh the page. It’s necessary to complete a captcha for each input. Changes are highlighted in the text, and you’re supposed to be able to click on them for alternative synonyms, but this feature often breaks too.

Try Pre Post SEO’s paraphrasing tool

pre-post-seo-premium

  • $19 per month
  • No worthwhile improvements over free version
  • Creates lots of errors
  • Poor interface

The premium version of Pre Post SEO claims to feature a higher word limit of 2,500 words, but we found that we could already input more words than that in the free version. Testing suggests that different word limits apply to different modes, but this is not clearly explained, making it confusing.

The other main points are the removal of adverts and captchas and the addition of a ‘Creative’ paraphrasing mode. We found that this mode produced very similar results to ‘Fluency’ mode and certainly wasn’t a feature worth paying $19 a month for. We don’t recommend paying for this tool.

Despite coming up frequently in the search results for paraphrasing tools, Grammarly doesn’t have a dedicated paraphrasing tool. Rather, one of the perks of a Premium membership is that it will sometimes suggest rewording phrases or sentences for clarity purposes. But there’s no way to paraphrase a specific sentence on demand.

If you have a Grammarly Premium membership, you can make use of this feature. But the lack of a standalone paraphrasing tool excluded Grammarly from our analysis and makes it an inappropriate choice if you’re looking for a paraphraser specifically.

Try Grammarly

To compare the capabilities of the different paraphrasing tools, we tested them all using the same texts and applying the same criteria to assess the output.

Testing texts

Three short testing texts were used to test the tools’ ability to deal with different kinds of writing. The three texts all expressed the same information in different ways to explore three different problems: long-windedness, grammatical incoherence, and disjointedness.

The first text states the information in a very long-winded way, using a lot of inflated language and needlessly repeating itself. We wanted to test whether the tools could paraphrase this text into something more concise while retaining the essential information.

Due to the fact that participants displayed a tendency to have a negative reaction to the intervention, we have reached the conclusion that the intervention was not a success. As a result of the fact that the intervention was less successful in comparison to comparable interventions available at the present time, we are of the opinion that more research is needed in order to ascertain whether or not the intervention has potential for wider use, due to this low success rate.

The second text communicates the information in a confusing, grammatically incorrect way that makes it quite difficult to follow. We wanted to see if the tools were able to make sense of it and express the intended meaning more coherently.

Due to participant’s tended to have negative reaction to the intervention. This why we conclude that they were not a success. Because similar interventions was better by comparison, this concludes that more research needs before knowing if the intervention is good for general using.

The third text conveys the information in a disjointed way, without appropriate use of transition words to make the text flow nicely and with one sentence fragment. We wanted to see if the tools could produce a more fluent, readable version.

Participants had overall negative reactions to it. We think the intervention wasn’t successful. There should be more research done. That way it can be seen if the intervention can be used more widely. Or if it is not appropriate.

Assessment criteria

To assess the quality of each tool’s output, we asked several questions:

  • Is it accurate ? Does it reflect the intended meaning of the original text, or does it add or remove content that changes the message?
  • Is it fluent ? Does it read clearly and flow smoothly, or does it seem stilted and unnatural?
  • Is it correct ? Does it eliminate grammatical errors or introduce new ones?
  • Is it significantly different ? Does it properly paraphrase by changing the sentence structure or merely swap out a few words for synonyms?

We ran all the texts through each tool repeatedly, trying out different modes if they were available and otherwise just assessing how the output varied between attempts – did it sometimes make mistakes? What was the best text it could produce?

To evaluate usability, we looked at the following factors:

  • How quick, easy, and flexible the tool was to use
  • Whether it clearly showed which parts of the text had been changed
  • Barriers such as requiring a sign-up, a word or character limit, or a limit on the number of paraphrases
  • In the case of premium versions, whether the additional features were worth the price

A grammar checker is a tool designed to automatically check your text for spelling errors, grammatical issues, punctuation mistakes , and problems with sentence structure . You can check out our analysis of the best free grammar checkers to learn more.

A paraphrasing tool edits your text more actively, changing things whether they were grammatically incorrect or not. It can paraphrase your sentences to make them more concise and readable or for other purposes. You can check out our analysis of the best free paraphrasing tools to learn more.

Some tools available online combine both functions. Others, such as QuillBot , have separate grammar checker and paraphrasing tools. Be aware of what exactly the tool you’re using does to avoid introducing unwanted changes.

To paraphrase effectively, don’t just take the original sentence and swap out some of the words for synonyms. Instead, try:

  • Reformulating the sentence (e.g., change active to passive , or start from a different point)
  • Combining information from multiple sentences into one
  • Leaving out information from the original that isn’t relevant to your point
  • Using synonyms where they don’t distort the meaning

The main point is to ensure you don’t just copy the structure of the original text, but instead reformulate the idea in your own words.

Wordtune Review HERO

Table of Contents

What is wordtune, how does wordtune work, what is wordtune’s paraphrasing tool, is wordtune safe, is wordtune free, wordtune’s features, wordtune’s pros and cons, is wordtune worth it.

Artificial intelligence is revolutionizing the way we work. It can take the lead on complex creative tasks, such as writing and generating ideas.

While we may debate the quality of AI writing tools, one thing is for certain—they can speed up the writing process.

And that’s where Wordtune comes in.

Wordtune is one of the market leaders in AI writing, claiming to boost productivity and save you countless hours at work.

In this article, you’ll get a detailed review of Wordtune, along with a summary of its pros and cons, so you can make an informed decision on the tool.

Wordtune is an AI generative tool and writing assistant that streamlines the writing process and helps writers overcome writer’s block.

The tool uses artificial intelligence to correct grammar and spelling, rewrite sentences, automatically generate text, and change the tone of your writing.

Wordtune can also summarize information on documents that you upload to its platform to save you time reading. It can also answer questions on these documents by searching for information and generating unique responses using its AI.

So now that you understand what Wordtune does, you might wonder who will benefit from it?

Professionals from all fields can benefit from the tool, including marketers, recruiters, and salespeople. If your job requires you to read and write, then Wordtune may be a good tool to try.

You can either paste your text into the editor or write directly in the tool. The tool then underlines words and phrases in two colors: red or purple.

When the tool underlines your writing in red, it shows grammar, spelling, or punctuation mistakes. The tool highlights in purple to suggest sentence improvements regarding fluency, vocabulary, or clarity.

While underlined suggestions appear automatically, you can highlight and rewrite sentences at any time. There are many customizable rewriting options, including Casual, Formal, Shorten and Expand.

Aside from Wordtune’s rewriting capabilities, the tool also has a feature called Spice, which is where the real magic lies.

This powerful feature can generate text at the click of a button, including statistics, jokes, and examples. Click the icon “Spice” to view generative text suggestions.

It’s easy to see how this tool can help professionals save time writing. For example, as a recruiter, you can generate job descriptions to attract candidates, and as a salesperson, you can generate statistics to persuade customers to purchase a product.

Although Wordtune is primarily an AI writing tool, it can also read and summarize information. All you need to do is upload information or link to an online resource.

There is a Library where you can store uploaded documents or text, access bullet point summaries, and quickly search for information using the search bar.

You can engage with the search bar just like a chatbot. Try asking about a topic you have uploaded to the database. Wordtune searches through your Library to generate a concise response, saving you time searching through the documents yourself.

Wordtune’s paraphrasing tool, also known as Rewrite, is a feature that allows you to reword sentences.

Rewrite will paraphrase text without altering its meaning, and there are several customizable options that allow you to tailor your message to your readers.

For example, choose Formal to rewrite your message with a more professional tone. Alternatively, select Shorten to make your message more concise or Expand to add more detail.

Wordtune's AI Text Generation

Wordtune also has AI capabilities to generate text. This could be anything from definitions and quotes to examples and analogies.

It’s like having a personal wordsmith in your pocket, ready to lend a hand whenever you need it—that’s actually an analogy created by the tool, which is pretty impressive.

Wordtune only stores and accesses personal data that you consent to giving. This might lead you to question how the tool writes effectively?

Wordtune’s AI model uses publicly available text to write, but it doesn’t copy directly from the source. When you use Spices to generate facts or statistics, Wordtune provides a link so you can see where the information is taken from and attribute your sources properly.

Read their privacy statement if you need more information on this topic.

Wordtune has a free plan that offers:

Ten Rewrites and Spices a day

Three AI prompts

Three Summaries

Unlimited text correction

The cheapest paid plan, Plus, costs $10 per month as of November 2023. In this plan, they give you 30 Rewrites and Spices, 5 AI prompts, 5 summaries, unlimited text corrections, and unlimited text recommendations per day.

The Unlimited and Enterprise plans remove all limits to the tool and give you access to premium support. This difference is that Unlimited is designed for single users, and Enterprise tailors the offer to large companies that need business features, such as single sign-on (SSO), brand tones, and a dedicated account manager.

Next up, we’ll be covering Wordtune’s features in more detail so you can get an overview of its capabilities.

Wordtune’s Write and Paraphrase

Paste your text directly into the editor to get suggestions about how to improve your writing.

When you copy and paste, the formatting should remain the same, as Wordtune copies headers, bullet points, bold text, underlining, and italics.

Note, there’s a word limit of around 1,600 words in the editor, so you may have to break up lengthy documents. To get around this, you need to save each section of the document as a new “Page.”

Use Wordtune’s Rewrite feature at any time by highlighting a sentence and clicking Rewrite. You can customize how you want the tool to rewrite your text, too. For example, you can make your writing more formal by selecting Formal or more casual by selecting Casual.

Wordtune's paraphrasing features

Continue writing

Add a conclusion

Give an example

Counterargument

Give an analogy

Inspirational quote

If that's not enough, you can provide Wordtune with instructions on what to write using the free-form text box. Try asking for statistics, facts, and even jokes.

With the click of a button, you can find facts that will quickly add weight to an argument. In a similar fashion, you can add inspirational quotes or analogies to make your message more memorable.

Keep in mind, the tool won't do all the work in creating content for you. If you are looking for a tool to write long pieces, such as a blog post, this is not the tool for you.

Spices and Rewrites are limited in the tool. The free plan only allows ten per day, which you can get through very quickly.

Wordtune’s Read and Summarize

This feature allows you to create summaries of documents. Simply upload a PDF, add a link, or paste text into the tool.

Once you have uploaded your text, the page splits in two, with the left side displaying the summarized content in bullet point format and the right side showing your original content.

If you need more information on a bullet point, you can click to view the source and, if you’re not satisfied with the output, ask the tool to re-summarize.

Click Expand All if you want to add more detail to your summary or Semantic Search to find related words, phrases, or topics in your document.

Your Library will automatically save summarized text and its original documents.

The Library offers a feature called “Ask your Library.” Just ask a question, and the tool will generate an answer based on the documents you have uploaded. This feature removes a pain point many of us face, which is losing time searching for information.

For example, as a marketer, you could upload articles or research and use the tool to find specific information.

In summary (excuse the pun), Read and Summarize is a great time saver, but remember: in the free plan, they only give you three summaries per day.

Wordtune’s Chrome Extension

If you don’t want to work within the app, you can also download Wordtune’s Chrome extension.

The extension works across most online apps, such as Microsoft Word, Google Docs, Gmail, and Slack. Simply highlight text, and you’ll see two icons appear for Rewrite and Spice.

There’s also an option to summarize information using the Summarization Panel, but be aware, the tool won’t read all sites, and sometimes you have to copy information to the app.

It’s worth noting that Wordtune doesn’t support extensions for all browsers. If this is an issue, try an alternative, such as ProWritingAid, which supports Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari.

Wordtune’s Pros

Wordtune is a great productivity tool that professionals from all fields can use to speed up the writing process and overcome writer’s block. You can use the tool to make text more concise and adjust the writing tone to your readers.

If you get stuck on what to write, use the tool to generate text. Try generating statistics, facts, and quotes to save time researching.

In addition, Wordtune can shorten the time needed to read a document by summarizing its contents. You can also ask a question based on information you’ve uploaded, and the tool will search your documents to generate an answer.

Wordtune Pros

Wordtune’s Cons

Wordtune’s main drawback is that it’s not as comprehensive as other tools when checking text for grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes. If this is important to you, check out other tools like ProWritingAid .

Wordtune’s generative AI works well, but don’t expect it to do all the heavy lifting for you. If you are looking for a tool that can generate substantial text, such as blog posts, then you’ll be better off looking elsewhere.

There’s also no guarantee plagiarism won’t be flagged on the text that the tool generates, s o if you want to remove any doubts, it may be worth running your text through a plagiarism checker .

The summarize feature gives you context, but it can miss important details. We still need humans to understand which details are important and which details should be discarded, so don’t rely on the tool to summarize important terms and conditions.

Finally, as with all freemium software, limits exist within the free plan. The free plan provides you with ten Rewrites and Spices, three AI prompts, and three summaries to use each day, but you can remove these limits by upgrading.

Wordtune Cons

Overall, Wordtune is a great tool to speed up writing and idea generation. The tool also allows you to digest information quickly by summarizing and searching for answers.

The tool has some drawbacks, such as the limitation to generate substantial text and comprehensively check your writing for grammar, spelling, and punctuation mistakes, but for the most part, it is still an effective tool.

If you’re considering Wordtune, you should also consider ProWritingAid. ProWritingAid offers comprehensive grammar checking, advanced AI features to rewrite text, and tips to boost the effectiveness of your writing. Try it for free today.

WordTune vs. QuillBot: Which Paraphrasing Tool Is The Best?

  • Post author By Melissa McEwen
  • Post date April 21, 2022

Do you remember a time you wrote a terrible sentence and couldn’t figure out how to fix it? A paraphrasing tool can help get you out of such jams. Paraphrasing tools use AI (like GPT-3) to fix your bad sentences. I tried two paraphrasing tools:  Wordtune  and  Quillbot . To find out which is the best, I evaluated them on the following criteria:

  • Writing skills : can the tool write a good, clear sentence?
  • Sentence crafting : can you easily adjust the sentences generated by the tool?
  • Paraphrasing modes: different types of paraphrasing like shortening or rewriting in a more formal tone.
  • Integrations : can you use the tool in your favorite writing applications like Google Docs.
  • Premium pricing : how much each tool’s premium plan costs per month.

In this review I’ll show you what these paraphrasing tools are capable of and tell you which one I think is the best.

Writing Skills Sentence Battle

A good paraphrasing tool improves clarity without sacrificing intent. To test each paraphrasing tool’s writing abilities, I purposefully wrote an awkward sentence about Spiffy.js, an imaginary JavaScript library:

Spiffy.js is used to write Widgets that can power interactive web applications.

Wordtune's user interface for rewriting sentences

Wordtune’s Paraphrased Sentences

  • The Spiffy.js library is used to create Widgets that can power interactive web applications. (✅ it’s more specific, but passive)
  • With Spiffy.js, web applications can be made interactive. (❌ Removes “Widgets”, passive)
  • With Spiffy.js, you can create interactive widgets that can power web applications (✅ better)
  • Use Spiffy.js to build interactive web apps. (❌ removes meaning)
  • Spiffy.js is a popular library for writing Widgets to power interactive web applications (✅ better)
  • With Spiffy.js, interactive web apps can be written. (❌ removes meaning, worse sentence, passive)
  • The Spiffy.js toolkit is used to create interactive web applications using widgets. (❌ removes meaning, passive)
  • The Spiffy.js development framework is used to build interactive widgets. (❌ removes Widgets, passive)
  • Using Spiffy.js, it is possible to create Web widgets that can run interactive applications. (❌ removes meaning)
  • It is used for writing Widgets that power interactive web applications. (❌ what happened to Spiffy.js? Also passive)

The number of Wordtune sentences I thought were acceptable was 3 out of 10.

Quillbot's interface for rewriting sentences

Quillbot’s Paraphrased Sentences

  • Widgets that power interactive web applications are written with Spiffy.js. (❌ not better, removes meaning, passive)
  • Spiffy.js is a framework for creating Widgets that can be used to power interactive web applications. (✅ better, but passive)
  • Spiffy.js is a programming language used to create Widgets that can power interactive web applications. (❌ added “programming language”)
  • Spiffy.js is used to create Widgets that can power interactive web applications. (✅ better, passive)
  • Spiffy.js is a programming language used to create Widgets that power interactive web applications. (❌ added “programming language”)

The number of Quillbot sentences I thought were acceptable is 2 out of 5.

Who Wins The Sentence Battle?

All in all, I wasn’t happy with most of the sentences that either tool suggested. I especially disliked all the passive sentences. I agree with writer David E. Schultz — Use the Active Voice (Unless Passive is Better). In addition, if you’re a blogger you likely use plugins like Yoast for your blogs and probably your client’s blogs. Yoast penalizes writing with a high percentage of passive sentences.

I’d also note that if the solution to a bad sentence is to delete the sentence or split it up, these tools are no help at all.

Even though none of the sentences were quite what I was looking for, Quillbot generated a higher percentage of quality sentences. In addition, QuillBot has another edge in creating sentences that I’ll explore in the next section.

Winner : Quillbot

Sentence Crafting: Tweaking Paraphrased Sentences

As the writing skills section demonstrated, paraphrasing tools don’t always give you the best sentences.

However, QuillBot offers tools to tweak the the results to make the sentences match your needs better:

Quillbot's sentence tweaking features: freeze, synonyms, and click thesaurus

  • Synonyms slider : adjusts how many words QuillBot will change
  • Click to get synonyms : Within QuillBot’s generated sentence you can click individual words to find synonyms
  • Freeze : If you have a phrase in the sentence that you don’t want QuillBot to change, you can use the “freeze” feature.

Using Quillbot’s tools I adjusted the results I got in the previous sections until I got a sentence that I thought was pretty good.

Spiffy.js is a framework for creating Widgets which can be used to power interactive web applications.

I wasn’t completely satisfied with the sentence, but it was easy enough to see where to change:

Spiffy.js is a framework for creating Widgets used to power interactive web applications.

Quillbot also has a web app called Co-writer, which allows you to tweak multiple paraphrased sentences at once.

Paraphrasing tools are not taking writer’s jobs anytime soon and it’s painfully obvious when people try to use them to plagiarize. Despite the shortcomings of these tools, if used wisely they can help you break through a clunky sentence and craft one that’s better. Think of paraphrasing tools as an assistant rather than another writer.

Winner : QuillBot

Paraphrasing Modes: What Kind of Sentence Do You Want?

When paraphrasing you might have different goals depending on the writing you’re working on. For example, you might be trying to shorten a sentence to fit into a tweet. Or make a casual sentence more appropriate for a business presentation. That’s where paraphrasing modes come in.

Both QuillBot and Wordtune have multiple modes of paraphrasing though most are available only on paid plans.  QuillBot has seven styles : standard, fluency, formal, simple, creative, expand, shorten. Wordtune  has four paraphrase tones : casual, formal, shorten, and expand.

The only mode I found useful was shorten, which both have. I found the difference between standard and fluency in QuillBot unclear but they generated different sentences.

I am reluctant to declare ties, but in my opinion both of these tools offer the same number of useful paraphrasing modes.

Winner : Tie

Integrations: Paraphrase in Google Docs and More

Want to use a paraphrasing tool within your favorite writing applications like Microsoft Word or Google Docs? That’s where integrations come in.

Both QuillBot and Wordtune have browser extensions so you can use them in web applications like Google Docs or even social media sites like Twitter:

  • Wordtune’s Chrome Extension  has 5/5 stars with 1,968 reviews
  • QuillBot’s Chrome extension  has 4.5/5 stars with 97 reviews
  • QuillBot has a Firefox extension , which only has 9 reviews with 3.4/5 stars

best paraphrasing tool wordtune

In addition both Quillbot and Wordtune have Microsoft Word Extensions

  • QuillBot’s Microsoft Word Extension  has 3.8/4 stars with 24 ratings
  • Wordtune’s Microsoft Word Extension  has 4.0/4 stars with only 9 ratings I did not try either of these so I have to judge them based on the ratings.

Only Quillbot has a special Google Docs integration (4.5/5 stars, 1121 reviews), which is useful if you want to paraphrase on a non-Chrome browser like Safari.

Personally, I prefer the simpler UI of Wordtune and all of Wordtune’s integrations have great reviews. However, Quillbot has more extensions and the Google Docs integration in particular is a gamechanger because it allows me to use Quillbot in Google Docs on my Ipad (which doesn’t support Chrome).

Again, I hate ties, but this is a tie IMHO.

Premium Pricing

Both tools offer both free and premium versions. The free versions have limits on how many sentences you can paraphrase and lack some features and modes. Although neither premium plan is cheap, QuillBot’s is cheaper:

  • QuillBot is 19.95 monthly/ 8.33 a month if you buy a year
  • Wordtune  is $24.99 a month/ 9.99 a month if you buy a year

As QuillBot is cheaper, I’m going to declare it the winner in this category.

Winner: Quillbot

The Wordtune Vs. Quillbot Winner

Tallying up the totals let’s see which tools wins the Wordtune vs. Quillbot battle:

QuillBot wins in : Pricing, Writing Skills, Sentence Crafting

Tie : Paraphrasing modes, Integrations

And the winner is: Quillbot! 🎉

I found Quillbot wrote better sentences and made it easier to adjust them to fit your needs. In addition, Quillbot’s pricing is cheaper.

Furthermore, QuillBot has tons of other features beyond paraphrasing, aiming to be a full suite of writing tools: summarizing, detecting plagiarism, grammar checking, and citations. I didn’t consider these since this post is about paraphrasing capabilities, but a subscription to Quillbot might be able to replace multiple other writing tools. If so, Quillbot could potentially not only offer a new tool, but also save you some money.

Head over to QuillBot’s site to try it in the browser.

If you’re looking for a simple extension to dip your toes into the world of paraphrasing tools,  I would recommend checking out Wordtune too.

☝️ Paraphrasing as the Best Tool against Plagiarism

As you know, plagiarism is a form of academic dishonesty. You can’t take someone’s ideas and pass them off as your own.

Plagiarism can have severe consequences. If you run a website or a blog and copy and paste articles from other sources without changes, search engines will lower your website’s score. This means that you will have fewer visitors and, as a result, fewer earnings (if you run an online store, provide services, or monetize your website in other ways).

In the business world, plagiarism can also have negative consequences. Copyright violations, for example, can result in million-dollar lawsuits, or in a loss of trust among customers, etc.

Below, you will find the most common types of plagiarism. Familiarize yourself so you can avoid them.

8 Types of Plagiarism

These are eight types of plagiarism that are often seen in academic writing:

  • Cloning or identical copying. This occurs when someone copies another’s text word for word and claims it as their own.
  • Mixture. This type of plagiarism occurs when you gather information from different sources and put it together, claiming it as your own paper.
  • Copy-Paste. This type of plagiarism is seen in papers where the author has copied and pasted significant parts of their paper from one source without changes.
  • Misleading attribution. This occurs when someone uses a citation without giving credit to a primary source.
  • Self-plagiarism. This happens when you decide to reuse your old papers without proper citation and credits. Yes, you have to cite your own writing if you use it again!
  • Mosaic. Mosaic plagiarism involves copying information from a range of sources and compiling it without citations.
  • when you use citations that lead to non-existing sources;
  • when you use a secondary source, but refer to the primary source;
  • when you change information from a primary source, so it gives a false impression to the reader.
  • Paraphrasing plagiarism. This kind of plagiarism occurs when someone changes only certain phrases in an original text without proper citation.

Plagiarism can be intentional, if the author knowingly passes someone else’s work off as their own, or unintentional, if it occurs because the writer has neglected to include citations or abide by paraphrasing rules.

Regardless of its type, plagiarism has serious consequences. A student who is caught plagiarizing can be expelled from college or university.

📝 Anti-plagiarism Tools & Techniques

Avoiding plagiarism is easy. Keep reading to find out more:

Quoting and Quotes

A quote is a copy of an original source that is properly credited. Depending on the formatting style, there are different style rules.

Here are three of the most popular formatting style requirements:

The first thing that you need to determine when quoting in APA is the length of the quote. If it is less than 40 words, you need to add a phrase that contains the author’s name and the publication date in parentheses:

Darwin (1857) stated, “A scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, - a mere heart of stone.”

If you don’t name the author before the quote, you must put their name, publication date and page number (if applicable) in parenthesis after the quote:

He said, “A scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, - a mere heart of stone” (Darwin, 1857).

If the quote exceeds 40 words, the quote must be placed in a separate block within the text and put in quotation marks.

Rules for quoting in MLA are similar to APA. If the quote is fewer than four lines, you must denote it with double quotation marks. You should provide information about the author and page number in your in-text citation and provide complete information on the reference page.

If you want to use a quote in the Chicago style, you must use footnotes and endnotes to provide information about the source. A superscript number should be placed after the quote:

Darwin stated that “A scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, - a mere heart of stone”. 1

If you’re going to quote 100 words, or more than five lines of a text, you need to write it as a separate block without quotation marks.

Paraphrasing

Another way to avoid plagiarism in your writing is to paraphrase the source. When paraphrasing, you must avoid copying more than two words in a row. In other cases, you should use quotation marks.

Check out how to paraphrase in APA, MLA, and Chicago styles below:

When you paraphrase in APA, you must provide the author’s last name and the date of publication in your paper. It is not necessary to include the page number in the citation.

(Darwin, 1857)

In MLA, you need to include the page number after the author’s last name. You should avoid using a comma between them. You should also paraphrase, but not misconstrue the author’s meaning.

(Darwin 191)

Similar to quotes, when you paraphrase in Chicago style, you should use a superscript number after the in-text citation:

Darwin stated that scientists should be stone-like and avoid desires or feelings. 1

Now you know how to avoid plagiarism and how to paraphrase your texts in only a few seconds. Check out the tools listed above and boost your content writing skills. You should also check out our Text Summarizer , Plagiarism Checker , and Random Word Generator .

An article rewriter is what you need if you need unique and compelling content in a short period or if you want to come up with new ways to represent old information

Here’s our detailed review of Quillbot . It contains everything you need to know to decide if it is right for you and your business. You’ll learn about its features, affordable pricing, Pros & Cons, and more. Read the review here .

QuillBot has lower pricing plans than Wordtune, as shown in the comparison table.

Wordtune Vs Quillbot: Tools Features

When comparing the features of paraphrasing tools, keep the following three factors in check:

  • Main Features:  What are the important features of the tool?
  • Ease of Use :  How easy is it to use the software?
  • Quality of Rewrites :  What is the level of quality of spun articles.

Let’s take a look at each of these aspects one by one to see how these tools can compare.

Quillbot Main Features

Vocabulary enhancement feature: QuillBot’s vocabulary enhancement feature is one of its most useful functions. In addition to improving your writing, this feature is excellent for building a strong vocabulary. It allows you to replace more (or less) of your writing with synonyms. If you only want to edit a few words, this function can help you make sense of your sentences. However, it can also be used to modify the entire text.

Thesaurus powered by AI: QuillBot allows you to find the best synonym for each sentence as you try to rewrite it. With each altered word in the sentence, a list of AI-powered thesaurus is displayed. This, I feel, will be the most distinctive and enjoyable aspect of refining your work.

Integrations: You may use QuillBot with a variety of text editors, including Microsoft Word and Google Docs. This is a great solution for someone who writes on a regular basis.

Grammar check: QuillBot is an all-in-one writing tool. It contains a Grammar check that improves your sentence structure even more. It employs Ai to correctly understand your sentences and paragraphs. Instead of manually checking each word for spelling, punctuation, and other grammatical mistakes, use QuillBot’s Grammar check. After you’ve finished your draft, the Grammar Checker polishes your work so that it stands out. It scans your writing with a single click and alerts you to any flaws in your write-ups, allowing you to discover what’s wrong and immediately fix it.

Summarizing tool: QuillBot’s rapid text summary tool, commonly referred to as the Summarizer, assists you in staying on top of your reading list. Allow QuillBot’s AI to comb through research papers, news articles, or long emails to uncover significant points and present you with a high-level overview of the subject.

Wordtune Main Features

Wordtune offers a wide range of writing tools that can help you improve the quality and relevance of your content.

Depending on which plan you choose, you’ll have access to different features. The most important features, however, are summarized here.

Rewrite : Using the Wordtune rewrite, you can express yourself in new words. Wordtune includes a few rewriting tips to help you do this. Afterward, you can select the best recommendation and use it in place of the original text.

Smart Paste:  When you use this function, you can easily include text from other sources into your work. In other words, if you need to insert text from another source into your writing, Wordtune seamlessly integrates the transferred text to make it seem (and read) natural.

Suggestions:  Instead of the words you’ve typed, this function suggests new ones that could be used in your phrase. This list of words and phrases might help you discover the proper words to describe yourself if you’re stuck for words.

Word finder : If you don’t speak English very well, you can use this tool to find the right word for your statement.

Examples : It will display relevant sentences from the internet that have the same sentence structure as the one you’ve written. This ensures that you employed the proper terminology in your content.

Quillbot vs Wordtune: Ease of Use

Both Quillbot and Wordtune are entirely web-based applications, and this means you don’t have to download and install them before using them. If you have a PC, an internet connection, and one of their subscription plans, you can start using these tools right away.

Both tools provide free trials, which means you will not be charged during the trial period.

They both accept all the major credit cards as payment methods.

After signing up, both tools will take you to their main dashboard, where you can initiate the paraphrasing process using their online editors.

However, each tool has an entirely different way they handle the rewriting process.

Wordtune User Interface

When it comes to Wordtune, the editor interface is really appealing and sleek.

Using this Wordtune editor, you simply need to type or paste your text in the text area, then click Rewrite and watch the tool craft several different versions of the same message.

If you are a paid user, you’ll have all the premium features which allow you to rewrite your text in different tones.

For instance, you choose to be casual or formal. You can also use the Shorten and Expand feature to summarize or stuff your text with more words.

best paraphrasing tool wordtune

Additionally, Wordtune has a Chrome extension that simplifies the rewriting process.

With this extension, the tool follows you across the web, including Google Docs, Gmail, LinkedIn, Facebook, WordPress, Twitter, WhatsApp web, Microsoft Word online, and anyplace else text may be typed.

Quillbot User Interface

Quillbot also has a very sleek user interface making the rewriting of text so much fun.

It has two text editors next to each other. You type or paste your text on one side while the tool rewrites it on the other.

This style is really smart and simple to use because it allows you to compare the original text with the modified one.

quillbot vs wordtune

Quillbot also has a lot of writing tones that allow you to sound any way you want.

There are also adjustment controls that allow you to specify the level of changes you want the tool to make to your text.

Quillbot will make the fewest changes to your text if you set this to a lower level. However, if you set this to a high level, the tool will completely rewrite your text in a different way while trying to describe the same idea.

The fewer modifications you make to the text, the more accurate the results will be, and the more changes you make to the text, the less accurate things will turn out.

As a result, you should set the Word flipper to a moderate level to strike a balance between the accuracy and distinctiveness of the rewritten text.

User Interface Winner: Both Wins

In terms of the user interface, it’s a no-brainer that both tools have very clear interfaces that make working with them enjoyable.

Both tools allow you to see the results before copying or exporting the rewritten content, which is a very useful feature to have in a paraphrasing tool.

Wordtune Vs Quillbot: Quality of Rewrites

When it comes to the quality of rewrites, both tools are fantastic. In this regard, I’m not sure whether one outperforms the other.

However, Quillbot offers a few rewrite tools and writing tones that Wordtune does not have.

For example, while Wordtune premium includes capabilities such as Casual tone, Formal tone, Shorten, and Expand, Quillbot includes all of these features and more.

Similar features that make both Quillbot and Wordtune produce better rewrites

Startup cofounded by A.I. heavy hitters debuts editing tool it hopes will ‘transform writing’

Today, editing is a manual, human process. Spelling and grammar checking software, such as the one built into Microsoft Word or the grammar checker Grammarly, can suggest when a word is incorrectly used or a comma misplaced. But it can’t recommend an entirely different way of writing a sentence to convey the same idea. Now AI21 Labs , an Israeli startup cofounded by two well-known machine learning researchers and several veterans of an elite Israeli military intelligence unit , has debuted an A.I.-enabled editing tool that does exactly that. It can suggest variations of different lengths and tones, as well as help users find the best word to use in a particular circumstance. “We are developing a true writing companion, a cowriter as opposed to a copy editor,” Ori Goshen, one of AI21’s cofounders, said. Take the infamously inarticulate statement from President Trump, uttered when he was still a candidate during the 2016 presidential election campaign: “I know words. I have the best words.” The software AI21 Labs has created can suggest a range of ways to rewrite the sentence to capture the same intent, but using words that don’t even appear in the original. These include the more formal, “I am a master wordsmith and possess an impressive vocabulary,” as well as a version that’s simpler but still more articulate than the original, “I have a wonderfully rich vocabulary.” It can also suggest a more verbose phrasing: “I have an extensive vocabulary, and am skilled at choosing the most appropriate term to express myself in a given situation.” The product, called Wordtune, is a free Google Chrome browser extension that can edit sentences in programs like Google Docs, Gmail, and Sheets, as well as within social media sites like Facebook and Twitter . Wordtune does not yet work with Microsoft Word, but the company hopes to integrate it with the well-known word-processing software sometime soon. Goshen is a serial entrepreneur as well as a veteran of the Israeli Defense Forces’ Unit 8200, the main signals intelligence division of the Israeli military. Several other veterans of the unit also work for the company, he said. He cofounded AI21 Labs in 2017 with two of Israel’s best known A.I. experts: Yoav Shoham, a former Stanford University artificial intelligence researcher who sold two previous startups to Google and worked for the search giant for two years, and Amnon Shashua , a computer scientist at Hebrew University who is also the chief executive at Mobileye, a subsidiary of Intel that makes artificial intelligence software for self-driving cars and the automotive industry. Shai Shalev-Shwartz, another well-known Israeli machine learning researcher at Hebrew University, also does work for the company. Shoham said that the company’s lofty goal is to use A.I. “to fundamentally transform how we read and write.” Wordtune is an example of the rapid advances in natural language processing —a kind of A.I. that can manipulate and to some extent “understand” language—that have occurred in the past two years. These advances have been driven by two developments: a new kind of design for a neural network, a kind of machine learning loosely based on the brain, called a Transformer, and the advent of massive language models that take in tens of billions of variables and are trained on colossal amounts of text. AI21 Labs is launching Wordtune into an increasingly crowded field of competing writing tools that can automatically compose or rephrase text. A competing system called Quillbot, built by a Chicago startup, suggests paraphrasing and can rewrite whole paragraphs. Google is increasingly incorporating more sophisticated auto-complete functions into its products, including Gmail. Microsoft has launched a feature in Microsoft Word that uses A.I. to suggest alternate ways to phrase a sentence. OpenAI, which has created one of the largest language models, called GPT-3, has licensed the system to a startup called OthersideAI, which uses the software to automatically generate emails from a few bullet points. Unlike GPT-3, AI21 Labs’s system is a fusion between neural network–based language models and an older form of artificial intelligence that seeks to represent human knowledge, like vocabulary and the meaning of words, in a graph structure, Shoham said. This fusion is part of what enables Wordtune to have a much better understanding of the concepts being expressed in a piece of writing than some of the pure statistical approaches based on ultra-large language models. The company has also made some fundamental research breakthroughs in the way large language models work. One, which it published earlier this year, is an improvement on a large language model invented by Google called BERT. BERT is based on hiding random words in a large text and then asking an A.I. system to predict the hidden words. AI21 Labs refined this system, creating an A.I. language model called SenseBERT, in which the masking is not completely random but is weighted toward the parts of the sentence that are most important for conveying meaning. “This allows it to capture the true sense of a sentence,” Shoham said. As a research project, the company also built a system, which it calls Haimke, that can, like the system built by OthersideAI, turn bullet points into prose. Another system, called Haim, works a bit like GPT-3, composing long coherent passages from a few sentences of human writing. Haim differs from GPT-3, though, in that the human using it can help guide the text the A.I. creates by writing a series of “waypoint” sentences. The software fills in the gaps between these waypoints with novel prose, but the waypoints serve as logical guideposts, so the software is less likely to “run off the rails” and generate nonsensical prose, Shoham said. Neither system has yet been turned into a commercial product.

10. Quillbot AI

Little did we know that we had encountered Quillbot AI before, long before we decided to review it.

Recently, we were checking if Upwork is trustworthy online. We stumbled upon an interesting article that explained what Upwork is but in a bizarre way.

We’ve encountered oddly structured sentences before, but this time we delved deeper.

After verifying the dates, we confirmed the occurrence of events. Article B was authored by someone last year. Later, another individual used a paraphrasing tool, potentially Quillbot AI or an alternative to Quillbot , to copy and paste most of the content onto their website.

Although morally questionable, this approach cleverly avoids plagiarism detection, gains a high ranking on Google, and likely generates significant advertising revenue for the author of Article A.

Call us overly optimistic, but we genuinely hope that after going through this, you’ll want to give it a try.

To be honest, even if we were someone who copied others’ work or wanted to rephrase text to avoid plagiarism detection, we would likely opt for ChatGPT because it’s more convenient for us and is free. Additionally, it includes a grammar checker feature.

11. ChatGPT

For optimal results with ChatGPT , ensure your prompts are precise and detailed. ChatGPT lacks content creation tools due to being free, but its user-friendly interface allows for easy adjustments to achieve desired outcomes.

Consider ChatGPT as your Wordtune alternative virtual content consultant. To get the content you want, provide specific details like tone, style, word count, and any key points you want to include.

The more information you give, the better ChatGPT can assist you in creating the perfect content.

The AI’s exceptional output showed its clear understanding of the supplied paragraphs’ meaning. With just a few minor adjustments and without any ChatGPT restriction , it would be ready for publication.

In general, it reduces time compared to manual work and produces high-quality results. However, the drawback lies in the boring process of inputting a few paragraphs at once, making it less convenient for long-term usage. 🌟

12. Copy.ai

CopyAI ‘s user interface boasts a smart and stylish design, better than other Wordtune alternatives. Once you sign in, you’ll be greeted with a clean and well-structured UI. On the left panel, you’ll discover options to create new projects and utilize a range of templates.

The Pro version is priced at $49 per month for a monthly plan. Opting for the annual plan will lower the cost to $36 per month and include 3 extra free months of access.

– Use the Sentence Rewriter to enhance your writing style.

– Save time by letting CopyAI write paragraphs for you.

ParaphrasingTool.AI is a remarkable tool, but so is Wordtune. So, which one of them is better at paraphrasing?

Wordtune popped up on the scene not too long ago and became an essential tool for writers. On the other hand, Paraphrasingtool.ai came out recently and is quickly becoming the go-to program for writers for its many solutions.

Since 68% of online ventures begin with a simple Google search, writers scratch and claw their way to write original content. But, which one of these paraphrasing tools helps them do it more efficiently? There’s only one way to find out, and that’s by pitting these tools against one another.

So, let’s begin, shall we?

What Is ParaphrasingTool.AI?

Paraphrasingtool.ai is a remarkable AI-based tool that allows writers to redo and revamp their content without any hassle. It has quickly become the go-to choice for many writers around the globe because of its free usage.

Besides that, the tool offers you a remarkable array of other offers. All these combine and help you overcome different challenges that writers face today. That’s what makes it a remarkable addition to any writer’s arsenal today and ensures extensive content writing.

What Is Wordtune?

Wordtune is a stellar tool for writers who wish to correct their content. It arrived on the scene not too long ago, but it has since become the accompanying tool of many writers. Since the tool itself is bound by word and character limits, many writers use it for short-form content.

Compared to its competitors today, the tool only offers a 280-character limit in free usage. That’s why many would consider it a massive drawback. However, the paid version does offer more words per check. The tool doesn’t have any other accompanying tools either.

  • Wordtune doesn’t have any other tools

4 Ways Of Using ParaphrasingTool.AI To Rephrase Content

In order to understand just how efficient these tools are at improving content, we have to pit them against one another in similar settings. Therefore, we’ll be using the same sentences, phrases, and standards of checking a tool.

Also Read: Top Plagiarism Checker Tools

We’ll start of with ParaphrasingTool.AI first and see how it helps us in different scenarios:

1. Rephrasing A Sentence – Improving The Flow

One of the first things that any writer will use as a paraphrasing tool is to improve their content. If the content isn’t flowing well or not describing something properly, then using paraphrasing tools can be vital. In this case, let’s see what ParaphrasingTool.AI does:

picture-1.png

The sentence itself has improved vastly from the paraphrasing. As you can notice, it has changed the majority of this sentence, making it sound 10x better.

2. Rewriting A Paragraph – Avoiding Plagiarism

Plagiarism is one of the leading problems for writers around the globe. That’s why many paraphrasing tools are employed every day to avoid plagiarism from various types of writing, i.e., professional or academic.

So, we took a little paragraph, checked it for plagiarism, and then ran it through ParaphrasingTool.AI. Here’s the result:

picture-2.png

The content has vastly improved from its initial shape. However, you might have to use this tool twice to completely steer clear of plagiarism. The point is it can help you efficiently remove plagiarism from your content.

3. Rephrasing A Passage – Ensuring Better Content Tone

Making your content better to improve its content tone might be on your mind. One of the toughest requirements of academic writing is to ensure the content tone is in a specific and linear manner.

So, how does this tool fare when we paraphrase a paragraph/passage instead of a sentence? Let’s try it out, shall we?

picture-3.png

As you can see, compared to earlier paraphrasing, the tool hasn’t changed the content upside down. In other words, it only changed enough to alter the content tone to make it better than its initial shape.

4. Rewriting Content To Deliver An Idea Eloquently

Eloquence isn’t always about using flashy words. Sometimes, it’s about using simple words to get your idea across. So, if your content is suffering from this problem, can ParaphrasingTool.AI fix it? Let’s see it:

picture-4.png

Evidently, yes, it can help you fix all these problems without changing much about your content.

  • Efficient content tone changes
  • Makes sentences or passages better
  • Professionally avoids plagiarism
  • Delivers content eloquently by changing enough
  • None so far

4 Ways Of Using Wordtune To Rephrase Content

Now, it’s time that we picked apart Wordtune the same way we did ParaphrasingTool.AI. So, by using the same sentences, paragraphs, and intention, let’s try it out:

1. Rephrasing A Sentence

In order to improve the content tone, we pasted the content from earlier. Here’s what we got:

picture-5.png

As you can see, Wordtune offers you a variety of rephrased sentences to choose from. It’s convenient but also confusing if you’re in a hurry.

2. Rephrasing Paragraphs—Is It Possible?

Since Wordtune offers only a 280-character limit, is it possible to even try to paraphrase a whole paragraph with it? Let’s try, shall we:

picture-6.png

Apparently, our paragraph was just under its character limit. As you can see, it once again gives us many options. However, the problem is that none of them sound natural or fluent.

3. Rewriting To Avoid Plagiarism

Avoiding plagiarism with Wordtune isn’t easy, especially for free usage. When we used the same paragraph from earlier, the 280-character limit got in the way. So, here’s how the rest went:

picture-7.png

Once again, Wordtune gave us many options to pick from. However, the breaking of content’s length makes them all virtually useless—unless you use the paid version.

4. Improving Content Delivery

Can Wordtune improve the content’s delivery the same way? So far, we’ve had quite a few problems, such as limited word count, unnatural content tone, and unnecessary options. So, let’s see what happens this time:

picture-8.png

Once again, the tool does offer a few options, but they’re not all exactly in line with the original content.

  • Quick & convenient
  • Offers various options
  • Varying options make it difficult to pick the right one
  • Unnatural content tone
  • 280-character limit

Verdict: Which Is Better Then?

If you wish for a straightforward answer, then ParaphrasingTool.AI is better. It changed the content in a more natural tone, offered more limits, and did all that for free.

Alana Chase

Studying in another country is a thrilling, rewarding experience. But a lot goes into making it happen: figuring out visa requirements, phone plans, banking abroad, what to pack, and more.

Makes your head spin just thinking about it, right?

I studied abroad in the UK for over a year, so I know the ins and outs of a successful, stress-free preparation .

To help you prepare for your own study abroad journey, I’ve compiled all my tips, tricks, and favorite resources into this article.

Let’s dig in!

best paraphrasing tool wordtune

Study abroad checklist: 10 tips to prepare

Below are my top tips for preparing to study abroad.

Secure your passport and visa

First, ensure your travel documents are in order. This may mean applying for or renewing your passport. You’ll likely need a visa, too.

Below is a list of items you’ll need to gather to renew or apply for your passport, but check the specific documents you need from your country’s passport application website.

☐ A birth certificate or another form of proof of citizenship. If you’re renewing your passport, your old one can serve as this proof, even if it’s expired.

☐ An additional form of ID , like your driver’s license.

☐ Recent passport photos — i.e., taken within the last six months.

☐ The completed passport application form.

☐ The application fee , which varies by country and situation.

Once your passport is sorted, it’s time to tackle the visa process .

The type of visa you’ll apply for depends on your nationality and your destination country’s specific visa offerings and requirements. That said, the standard student visa is the norm for most countries.

The visa application process involves its own set of requirements . To understand these, visit the official government website of your destination country or contact its embassy or consulate in your own country.

Pro tip : Take photos of your passport, visa, and other important documents and store them on your computer, mobile phone, and in the cloud (e.g., through Google Drive, iCloud, or Dropbox). This way, you’ll have all your key information handy wherever you go.

Sort out your healthcare

You should also schedule a doctor’s appointment to ensure you’re healthy and prepared to adapt to a new environment.

Discuss your travel plans with your healthcare provider and ensure you’re up to date with all vaccinations your destination country requires. Some places might have specific health risks you aren’t exposed to at home.

Next, arrange your healthcare coverage abroad . Check if your current health insurance covers you internationally; if it doesn’t, consider buying additional coverage.

Pro tip: Your destination country may have a social security scheme with healthcare coverage that includes international students. Check the country’s government website to see if this applies to you.

Finally, if you take medication, ensure you’ll have access to it overseas .

This could mean bringing enough medication for your time abroad — especially if it’s unavailable or differs in dosage in your destination country — or asking your healthcare provider about approved alternatives in your study destination.

Remember to carry your medication in original containers with a prescription and a doctor’s note to avoid any hiccups at customs.

Pro tip : Doctors who speak English typically advertise this fact online, so a quick Google search can help you find an English-speaking doctor if you’re studying in a country where you don’t speak the language yet. Your school will likely have a list of such doctors, too.

Purchase plane tickets and travel insurance

With your travel documents sorted, it’s time to buy your plane tickets and travel insurance (which can cover you in the event of medical emergencies, delayed or canceled flights, or lost luggage).

Visit websites like Skyscanner , Going , and Expedia to find the best flight deals, and consider booking early (at least three months before your program starts) to save extra money.

Pro tip: Depending on your situation, you might need a return ticket (i.e., you’ll have to book round-trip rather than one-way). Check your destination country’s visa regulations before you book.

You can often buy travel insurance at checkout when you purchase your flights. Some debit and credit cards even offer travel insurance, so check with your provider to see if you’re already covered. Alternatively, you can purchase it through sites like InsureMyTrip .

Either way, carefully compare your options , pick the one that best fits your needs and budget, and read all the details so you know exactly what’s covered.

Figure out your finances

You have three options for banking abroad:

  • See if your home bank operates in your destination country. If so, setting up there should be relatively simple with help from an advisor.
  • Open a local bank account in your destination country. You’ll need proof of address, which can be tricky depending on your initial living situation. Fortunately, banks in many countries will accept a signed statement from a local explaining that you’re staying with them. Otherwise, your destination university or organization may be able to do something similar.
  • Open an account with an online bank . There are many to choose from, including Monzo (which I used and loved when studying in the UK) and Wise (which allows you to open local bank accounts in multiple currencies). Setting up an account can be as easy as uploading a selfie and a photo of your passport.

Pro tip: See how much your bank charges for using your card overseas. Fees can add up fast, so pick a bank with low or no fees.

No matter how you set up your overseas bank account, you’ll want to have cash on hand when you arrive abroad — enough for the first few weeks until you receive your bank card.

Additionally, let your bank (and credit card company) at home know you’re traveling abroad. This way, if you need to use your home bank card, the transaction is less likely to be blocked or declined.

Finally, if you have credit card payments or other debts to pay off , leave enough money in your home bank account to cover your monthly payments. Most card companies require you to pay your bill with an account based in the same country.

Decide on your phone plan

You can pick from various options to stay connected while abroad.

Keep your home phone plan

If your current plan has reasonable international data and low or no roaming charges, you can stick with it. Just remember, your friends and family might get charged extra when they call or text you.

Get set up with Google Voice

This service provides a phone number for calls, texts, and voicemails you can access from any device. You can also port your existing number to Google Voice or forward your Google Voice number to a local SIM card number.

Check out this guide on Google Voice for expats and Google’s guide on Voice to learn more (including the countries the service is available in).

Use an international SIM card

You can buy a SIM card at the airport or ask a friend in your destination country to pick one up for you. Companies like GiffGaff can even mail SIM cards to you before you leave.

You’ll have a new number and will also need an overseas phone plan . You can purchase one as a prepaid option or a monthly plan, depending on your needs and length of stay.

Pro tip : Update any two-factor authentication (2FA) details before your trip. You don’t want verification codes sent to a phone number you’re not currently using. Instead, have 2FA codes sent to your email address.

Learn some of the language and customs

Even if you’re heading to an English-friendly destination, knowing some of the local language and customs can make a big difference.

‍ For language learning , dive into apps such as Duolingo and Babbel to pick up some basics such as how to say “please” and “thank you” or “excuse me.”

AI tip: Use Wordtune ’s AI-powered Editor tool to translate text from various languages — Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Korean, Mandarin, Portuguese, and Russian — into English!

Get Wordtune for free > Get Wordtune for free >

Additionally, familiarize yourself with your destination country’s history, traditions, and etiquette to navigate social interactions respectfully. Be aware of cultural nuances, too — e.g., using only your right hand for eating in India and avoiding showing up on time to social events in Brazil.

Also, read up on the country’s cuisine, festivals, and holidays . Trying local dishes and participating in traditional celebrations can be a great way to immerse yourself in the culture and connect with locals.

Pro tip: Culture Trip and Lonely Planet offer excellent guides on various countries’ cultures, so they’re worth exploring before you move.

Know where you’re staying and research the area

Next, figure out your accommodation abroad . Depending on your financial situation and other circumstances, you might stay in student accommodation or rent a room (or an apartment) near campus.

Also, get clear on the details: When and where do you pick up your keys, how do you pay for rent and utilities, what are the move-in/move-out dates, and what’s the policy on guests?

Once that’s settled, research the area you’ll be living in . Check out its proximity to public transportation, shops, and restaurants. You might also look up nearby places that remind you of home, like your favorite fast-food joints or cafes, to help ease homesickness.

Additionally, find out where you can continue your hobbies . For example, search for the closest gym or park if you’re a fitness enthusiast, where to take painting classes if you love art, where the nearest cinema is if you’re a movie buff, etc. Meetup is a great resource for finding local hobby groups and events you can sign up for, too.

Pro tip: Search where your home country embassy is in your study-abroad country and what services it offers. Emergencies can happen, and knowing when and where to go if you need help is incredibly reassuring.

Your study abroad destination, the duration of your stay, and your personal must-haves will all influence what ends up in your luggage.

That said, though, here’s what I recommend all study abroad students pack:

  • Outlet and voltage converters. These allow you to safely use your electronic devices in countries with different outlet shapes and voltage standards. Read Skyscanner ’s guide to find the right ones to buy.
  • Physical copies of your important documents — including a scan of your passport, birth certificate, and study abroad offer letter. Store them in a plastic expanding file folder to prevent creasing, and keep the folder in your carry-on for easy access.

Join student groups and connect with peers

Before heading to your study abroad destination, join student groups related to your program or interests. Doing so can help ease the transition and make you feel more relaxed when you arrive .

Start by contacting your study abroad program coordinator or checking your school’s website and social media pages for student organizations — particularly those for international students studying abroad.

You can also explore platforms like Expat Exchange to connect with fellow study-abroad students.

Pro tip: In smaller programs, try reaching out to your classmates directly. For example, when I studied abroad in the UK, my Creative Writing MA group introduced ourselves via email — and organized a pre-term meetup!

Studying abroad is exciting, but you must properly prepare for the adventure.

First, arrange your passport, visa, plane tickets, travel insurance, and healthcare. Then, organize your finances and how you’ll bank abroad, decide on a phone plan, and brush up on the local language and customs. Be sure to research the area you’re staying in, too.

Lastly, pack your belongings and connect with classmates (and fellow students studying abroad) before your big move.
