This wikiHow teaches you how to change app icons on your computer, phone, or tablet. Changing app icons can personalize your home screen or desktop with images and colors that fit your interests and aesthetics. You'll need a third-party application to change app icons on an Android, but if you're using an iPhone or iPad (iOS 14 or later), Windows, or macOS, you can change icons without additional software.

Things You Should Know

Use Shortcuts on iPhone and iPad to change your icons.
You can get many icon packs for free on Android through the Google Play Store.
Use ICO or PNG files as icons in Windows, or INCCS files for Mac.

iPhone and iPad

Step 1 Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone or iPad.

Since you'll really be creating a shortcut to the app, you won't see notification badges on the icon.

Tap the placeholder icon next to "New Shortcut 1" (the number at the end of "New Shortcut" will vary depending on how many shortcuts you've created).
If the image you want to use is in your phone or tablet's Photos app (most common), select Choose Photo . Then, select the image you want to use as the icon, align the image in the square, and then tap Chose to select it.
If the image is in your iCloud Drive or somewhere else on your iPhone or iPad, select Choose File and then tap the image.
To take a new photo, tap Take Photo and snap your new icon photo.

Step 12 Replace "New Shortcut 1" with the app's name.

To launch the app, tap the new icon on the home screen to open the shortcut, and then tap the app's name.
To add another app icon, return to the Shortcuts app, create a new shortcut to open the desired app, and select a new icon as you did before.

Tap and hold an empty area of the home screen and select Themes
Tap Icons and select an icon pack. Some, but not all, icon packs are free.
Tap Download (if free) or the price (if paid) and follow the on-screen instructions to confirm.
To change an icon to one you downloaded, tap and hold an empty area of the screen again, select Themes , tap Icons , tap the menu, and then select My Stuff . Choose Icons , select the icons you want to use, and tap Apply .

Some Androids have support for a variety of icon packs out of the box. Try Googling the model of your Android and "Icon Packs" to see what's out there.
To find a new launcher, open the Play Store and search for "Launcher." Tap a launcher to read its reviews and check out screenshots. Here are a few popular options that support a variety of free and premium icon packs: Nova Launcher , Action Launcher , and Apus Launcher . Step 3 Download icon packs for your launcher.

To apply your icon pack, you can usually tap and hold a blank area of the home screen and select an option called Customize , Icons , or Theme . You may also be able to long-press an app icon and select an option to change it. Most launchers make this part simple, but the steps do vary wildly. Have fun!

Some apps come with multiple icons you can choose from. If you want to skip downloading new icons, you may find a suitable replacement just by following these steps.

Step 2 Create a desktop shortcut for the icon you want to change.

Press the Windows key to open the Start menu, and scroll to the app.
Right-click the app, select More , and choose Open file location . This opens the app in a new folder.
Right-click the app and select Send to > Desktop (create shortcut) . This adds a shortcut to the desktop.

Step 3 Right-click the shortcut on the desktop and select Properties.

You can still use a PNG or JPG file as an app icon on your Mac. Just make sure it's square-shaped, or as close to a square as possible.

Sometimes an app’s icon just doesn’t look right on your homescreen. For example, let’s say — just for the sake of argument — that the icon for a social networking app was switched from a pretty blue bird to a rather stark “X.” Could you change that icon?

The answer is yes — it’s doable using Apple’s built-in Shortcuts app. You actually won’t be replacing the app’s official icon. Rather, you’ll be creating a separate shortcut that leads to the app. It’s a tedious and time-consuming process, but in the end, you can have a fully customized iPhone homescreen.

Here’s how you do it:

Before you begin, it’s a good idea to find an icon for your new shortcut. There are a bunch of icon sources online ( Flaticon , for example), or if you’re artistic and / or ambitious, you can create your own. Whether you use someone else’s or your own, it’s easiest to save the image to Photos.
Okay, let’s begin. Find and tap on the Shortcuts app. It’s pre-installed; if you can’t see it immediately on your homescreen, swipe left until you’re at the App Library and start typing “Shortcuts” into the top search bar.
Once you’re in the app, tap on the plus sign in the upper-right corner.
On the top of the screen, you’ll see that your new shortcut will be named something like “New Shortcut 1.” If you’d rather have your own name, tap on the arrow next to it and select Rename .

Shortcut can help you create new bookmarks for your apps

Once you’ve got your shortcut named, tap on the Add Action button below the name.
You’ll find yourself on a page that, at first glance, may seem a bit confusing. Basically, you’re looking at all the various things that you can do with Shortcuts. While it would be worth it to spend some time here and try out some customizations, right now, what we want to do is change your app icon.

Type Open app in the search bar and then tap on the Open App link that will show up.
Tap on the word App that appears (rather faintly) next to the word Open in the search bar.

You’ll see a list of your phone’s apps; pick the one you want to customize. The name of the app will now be next to the word Open .
If you are using iOS 16, tap Done in the upper-right corner. You’ll be taken back to your shortcut page. (If you’re using the iOS 17 public beta, you can go directly to the next step.)
Select the information icon (an “i” in a circle) at the bottom of the screen.
Tap Add to Home Screen .

You’ll now see a preview of the icon (which will be a standard, uninteresting icon that Shortcuts automatically adds). Don’t worry — we’re going to make it better.
Tap on the icon under Home Screen Name and Icon . You’ll have the choice of either taking a photo, choosing a photo, or choosing a file. Assuming you’ve already saved an image in Photo, tap on Choose Photo and select the photo you want to use.
If you’ve chosen an existing photo, a highlighted area will indicate what part of the photo will appear as an icon; you can move the photo around until you’re happy with the section indicated. Tap Choose in the lower-right corner.

Now, you’ll see your new icon. If you haven’t added a name for your new shortcut, you can still do it here by typing the name next to the icon.
All ready? Tap Add in the upper right corner.
You should see your new customized icon on your homescreen. Congrats!

You can also hide the original app icon so you’ll just have the new one visible. (You don’t want to delete it completely, of course; that would delete the app.)

Long-press on your wallpaper until all your icons start wiggling. Tap on the minus sign of the app you want to hide.
On the pop-up menu, tap Remove from Home Screen . The original icon won’t be deleted, just hidden; you can always find it in the App Library.

One note: when you use your new icon to go to the app, you will occasionally get a small drop-down notice that tells you what the original app is called and reminds you of the fact that it is a shortcut. But the drop-down will only last for a second or two, so it shouldn’t be much of a bother.

Changing your app icons on Android is easy, but it isn't intuitive. You'll usually delve into third-party apps and launchers to maximize your Android phone's potential for customization. We show you how to change your app icons on every Android device. These steps also work on all the top Android tablets , so if you own a phone and tablet from two manufacturers, you can make them look the same. Tidy up your apps after customizing your icons to make your phone look stylish and organized.

How to customize your Android 14 lock screen

Things to know about changing app icons on your android phone.

The stock launcher on most Android smartphones and tablets doesn't support icon packs or changing the app icons, including Google's Pixel launcher. You'll use a third-party launcher to change how app icons look on your phone. If your phone's stock launcher supports changing app icons, it may not support third-party icon packs from the Google Play Store.

There is a way to change app icons on the stock launcher of an unsupported Android phone, but it requires more patience than other methods. This time-consuming process involves manually changing each app's icon, which we don't recommend for most users.

How to change app icons on your Samsung phone

Samsung's One UI theme manager allows you to change app icons and customize your phone's home screen as you see fit. The One UI theme manager only supports changing the first-party app icons, leading to an inconsistent experience for your third-party apps.

To change the app icons on your Samsung Galaxy device, follow these steps:

1. Open the Settings menu on your Samsung Galaxy phone.

2. Scroll down and select Themes .

3 . Tap the Icons tab at the bottom. The Featured section displays the app icon packs picked by Samsung, while the Top section shows you the most popular icon packs.

4. Tap the app icon pack you want to try and tap the Download button. Many of these icon packs aren't free. Scroll through the Featured section to find a spot called Top Free Icons or Must-Have Free Icons .

5. Select the Top tab, open the All drop-down menu, and select Free to get the list of free icon packs.

6. Tap the Apply button to install the app icon pack.

Most icon packs from the Galaxy Themes Store require you to purchase them. At the same time, you can give each premium icon pack a test run before buying them by selecting its Download trial button.

You must use the One UI Home launcher to access the icon packs from the Galaxy Themes Store, including the ones you purchased. They don't work with third-party launchers, so keep that in mind when buying icon packs.

Use a Good Lock module to apply third-party icon packs from the Google Play Store on all apps on your Samsung device. Follow our guide on how to use custom icon packs on Samsung One UI to learn more. If your phone runs One UI 6 or later, you have better customization options. This process requires extra setup steps, but you can use a third-party launcher with built-in icon pack support.

How to theme app icons on Google Pixel phones and the Pixel tablet

The Google Pixel launcher doesn't support custom app icon packs. Instead, it has themed icons . With this feature, the launcher themes all icons based on the wallpaper colors used by the system's dynamic theming engine .

To apply themed icons on your Google Pixel phone, check out the following:

1. Open the Settings app.

2. Scroll down and tap Wallpaper & style .

3. Turn on the Themed icons option by flipping the switch to the on position. All app shortcuts that support icon theming are updated on your home screen.

You can also change the Wallpaper colors used by the dynamic theme engine to change the look of the themed icons. There are multiple Basic colors options if you want something more specific.

These themed icons are considered a beta feature, meaning it's still a work in progress. These themed icons only appear on your home screen. They retain their original look when you open your app drawer.

How to change app icons on any Android phone

The phone's default launcher on most Android devices doesn't support changing the stock icons. You can use Shortcut Maker to change individual app icons on your phone for first-party and third-party apps just the same. It's a popular alternative method that lets you tweak the app icons on your home screen.

Before proceeding with the steps below, download your preferred icon pack from the Google Play Store. This saves you time and lets you apply your favorite icon pack immediately.

To use Shortcut Maker to create custom app icons, check out the following:

1. Download Shortcut Maker on your Android device.

2. Tap Got it to continue.

3. Select Apps .

4. Choose the app whose icon you want to change.

5. Tap the Icon section from the settings menu that opens. The available icons for that app from the various icon packs installed on your phone appear under the Available Icons section.

6. Select the one you like.

7. Customize the app icon's style and theme from the Style and Themed tabs.

8. Tap the checkmark in the upper-right corner to confirm your choice.

While Shortcut Maker works to change the app icon on your Android phone, there are better solutions than this one. You can't apply icon packs using it. If you want to change the icons of multiple apps, you must do it manually, one by one.

Shortcut Maker creates a new app shortcut with the app icon, and its changes are limited to that shortcut. This means you continue seeing the original app shortcut with its original logo in your phone's app drawer, leading to another inconsistent experience.

Use third-party launchers to apply icon packs easily

Consider using a third-party launcher with built-in icon theme support to avoid the extra leg work from the other methods. The best Android launchers support custom icon packs, allowing you to theme your device easily. Combined with the best icon packs on the Google Play Store, you can change the look of the app icons on your phone with a few simple taps. Unlike the stock home launcher on most Android phones, third-party launchers can change the icons of first-party and third-party apps.

The steps to change your app icons vary depending on the custom home launcher you use. But the general guidelines remain the same. Download an icon pack from the Google Play Store that you want to apply and check out the launcher's settings menu. Afterward, select the custom icons option and activate the icon pack.

How to change app icons in the Nova launcher

1. Long press an empty area of your Nova launcher home screen.

2. Tap Settings .

3. Select Look & feel .

Changing individual app icons in Nova Launcher is handy when mixing and using two or three icon packs together. It gives you a seamless and customizable theme unique to your device, allowing you to create a number of possibilities.

The steps to apply an icon pack or change individual app icons are mostly the same across third-party launchers, so this isn't unique to Nova Launcher. We use Nova Launcher because it's a popular third-party home screen launcher on the Google Play Store.

Before you can change app icons, you’ll need to download and install custom icon sets. You can find them at the Google Play Store.

Here's how to install them:

Find a set of custom icons you like at the Google Play Store . The best way to find them is to type custom icons in the search bar (located at the top).

When you find an icon set you like, tap the entry in the search results. Then tap the green Install button.

Custom themes used to be available at the Galaxy Store, but Samsung devices now have a separate application called Galaxy Themes . On older devices, Samsung added the new app in a recent software update. On newer devices, it comes pre-installed.

You can also use Google Play to download custom icon packs on Samsung, if you prefer.

Here's how to install app icons using Galaxy Themes:

Open the Galaxy Themes app or go to Settings > Themes . If you’re not already logged in, tap the menu button in the top left and tap the profile button to do so. If you do not have a Samsung account, you will need to create one.

Tap the Icons button on the bottom (third from the left). Find an icon pack you like.

Some icon packs cost money. If you don't want to spend anything, be sure to look for the packs listing Free underneath, not a price.

Tap the icon pack to open the store page and then select the Download button at the bottom of the screen. An advertisement may appear, and the download should start after it finishes playing.

Wait for it to finish.

If you want to apply the icon pack right away, tap the Apply button, which replaced the Download option.

How Do You Change App Icons on Android?

Even if you installed a custom app icon pack, you need to apply it first before seeing any changes. Just having the icon pack installed does not make them active or visible.

Some icon packs will display a prompt immediately after install, allowing you to apply them. However, not all of them do this.

III: Customize the Appearance

You can customize much of the app's look and feel through the custom.xml file (located in res > values ) and navigator.json file (in app > assets ). This topic lists required changes you need to make to your app — changing the app logo and the app icon. Other topics ( Change Homepage Layout, Sidebar, Continue Watching Row, and More and Other Optional Changes ) cover additional changes that you can easily make to your app.

Change the App Logo

Customize the app icon, customize the splash screen.

The logo appears in the upper-left corner as well as on the splash screen. This is an element you must change as you customize your app.

To change the app logo:

Inside your app's assets > res directory, create a new directory called drawable .

Open your drawable directory via Finder or Explorer.

To access your drawable directory, you can either right-click the folder within Android Studio and choose Reveal in Finder (on a Mac). Or you can manually browse the source files by going to Application > app > src > main > res > drawable . (The Android view in Android Studio doesn't reflect the actual structure of your folders.)

Add your logo image (356px wide x 108px) into this folder.

The app logo's dimensions should be approximately 356px wide x 108px tall and have a transparent background. Larger images will be scaled down to fit the space (but smaller images won't be scaled up).

The resizing preserves the image's dimensions without performing any cropping. If your logo is tall and narrow, it may look tiny when fit into a space that is 108px tall because the aspect ratio will be preserved. (Logos that are wide look better in the Fire App Builder layout.)

Your logo appears as an overlay on top of the app background. A light logo on a dark background will have good contrast.

In your app's custom.xml file (inside your app's res > values folder), customize the file names within the following elements:

The splash_logo element determines the logo that appears on the Splash page. The company_logo element determines the logo that appears in the upper-left corner of the app.

You can use the same logo on both screens, or you can vary the two. Also, you don't need to include the file extension in the image file name. Android will automatically detect it.

You can change the app icon. This is the image thumbnail that appears in your list of apps on Fire TV and appears when you are testing your device.

Additionally, this image appears as the image tile in the Appstore's website on amazon.com .

However, when you submit your app into the Amazon Appstore, you're required to submit an app icon that is 1280 x 720px (PNG). This is the actual icon that will be used in the Fire TV user interface.

To update this file, change the ic_launcher.png files. Switch to the Project view, and then look in your app's src > main > res folder. There are 4 app icon files, each corresponding to different screen sizes:

mipmap-hdpi (72x72px)
mipmap-mdpi (48x48px)
mipmap-xhdpi (96x96px)
mipmap-xxhdpi (144x144px)

The app icon has a transparent background. Either replace the source images or update your app's custom.xml file with updated reference to your launcher file:

Loading text

To update the word "Loading" that appears on the Splash screen, go to TVUIComponent > res > strings.xml > strings.xml and update the following element:

How to use custom app icons on your kindle fire (or any android device).

Unlike Google-supplied Android apps, the apps from the Amazon Apps for Android store have incredibly high resolution (a requirement for crisp display in the Kindle OS application carousel).

Unlike Google-supplied Android apps, the apps from the Amazon Apps for Android store have incredibly high resolution (a requirement for crisp display in the Kindle OS application carousel). Sideloaded apps, however, don't get the Amazon treatment and come with fuzzy low-res icons. Read on as we show you how to fix your low-res icon woes.

We recently shows you how to sideload apps onto your Kindle Fire and, if you follow our instructions, you'll have no problem enjoying apps from outside the Apps for Android store. While the functionality of the apps is picture perfect, the icons themselves are not so picture perfect, unfortunately.

The reason is simple. All apps in Amazon's Apps for Android store have an accompanying high-resolution icon that is sent to your Kindle Fire upon purchase. These icons are significantly bigger than standard Android app icons (by a wide margin: the Amazon-supplied icons are up to 675x675 pixels compared to the standard Android icons that don't exceed 192x192 pixels).

When you install an application from outside the Apps for Android store, you don't get the pretty high-resolution icon but instead get the much smaller icon embedded in the APK file you installed. While this doesn't affect the performance of the installed applications one bit, it does make their icons really stand out compared to the sharper Amazon supplied ones (as seen in the screenshot above) and you didn't buy a tablet with an ultra sharp screen to look at fuzzy icons.

For our purposes, we will be updating the Chrome icon, seen above in all it's low-res glory, to a higher resolution version using a Windows PC and the free tool APK Icon Editor. (Linux/OS X users will need to take a more complicated route and use APK Manager , a tool we will not be walking you through using.) While we're using the Kindle Fire to showcase these techniques (because the high-res carousel launcher makes low-res icons painfully obvious), you can use these tricks to upgrade the icons of any app.

Before we dive into swapping the icons, it helps to have a sense of the nomenclature surrounding the icons. Android icons, per Android Developer standards , come in the following five default sizes:

LDPI - 36 x 36 MDPI - 48 x 48 HDPI - 72 x 72 XHDPI - 96 x 96 XXHDPI - 144 x 144 XXXHDPI - 192 x 192

MDPI size, 48 x 48 is considered the baseline and all icons are proportionally adjusted from that base size (LDPI is 0.5 times the size, XXHDPI is 4.0 the size, etc.) As we mentioned above, the largest size, XXXHDPI is still far too small to look good on the Kindle's launcher carousel.

Amazon's carousel apps use a much bigger icon; here are the icon sizes based on the Kindle Fire developer specifications :

Kindle Fire (1st Gen) - 322 x 322 Kindle Fire (2nd Gen) - 365 x 365 Kindle Fire HD 7" - 425 x 425 Kindle Fire HD 8.9" - 675 x 675 Kindle Fire HD 7" (2nd Gen) - 425 x 425 Kindle Fire HD 8.9" (2nd Gen) - 675 x 675 Kindle Fire HDX 7" - 562 x 562 Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" - 624 x 624

Reference the listing for your device (we'll be replacing the icon for a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9") and then seek out an icon at least that size or larger. For widely used apps like Chrome, it's simply a matter of searching Google Images for a match. For both the manual and automated methods, you'll want a PNG file with a transparent background.

Download the APK Icon Editor (we recommend the portable version, packaged in a ZIP file). Extract or install the application. Upon first run, you'll see a blank editor. Drag and drop your APK file onto the main pane. You can technically drag and drop your APK and the replacement icon simultaneously, but we're going to do the APK by itself first just so you can see how different the icon sizes really are.

After you drop the APK, click on the "Size Profile" drop down menu on the right hand side of the application. Select the appropriate device.

See how much space is around the default icon? That space represents the difference between the icon and the actual resolution of the Kindle's app carousel icon size. No wonder it looks fuzzy, it's roughly 460% too small. Drag and drop your new icon onto the pane. If your icon isn't exactly the same size as the specification, the app will ask if it's OK to scale it.

Now we're talking, wall-to-wall icon without a pixel wasted. If it looks the way you want, click Pack APK. The app will repack and sign your APK file.

After installing the edited app, you'll be greeted with a carousel entry in all the high-resolution glory you crave:

Compared to the fuzzy 1980s-esque icon found in the first screenshot, this is a remarkable improvement, and without a whole lot of effort at that.

Things to know before you change app icons on iPhone Home Screen:

Ensure you already have the images or icons you want to set as an app icon .
The customized app icons will not show notification badges.
You won’t be changing the default iOS app icons. Instead, you’ll make shortcuts on your iPhone home screen with a custom icon to launch that app.

iOS 16 comes with lots of options for personalizing your iPhone. You may change the background on your home screen. So, why not make your own app icons? Apple has never officially allowed users to change app icons. However, you can do this by using Apple’s built-in Shortcuts app. Now, let’s find out how to change app icons on your iPhone.

How to change app icons on iPhone with Shortcuts

Launch the Shortcuts app on your iPhone.
Now tap the plus(+) icon.

Now you can see the App word is blurred. Tap on it.
After that, a list of apps will appear. Choose the app you want to make a shortcut of. Here I have chosen Basecamp.

Then select Add to Home Screen.
It will show a new window where you can change the app icon on iOS. Tap the icon under HOME SCREEN NAME AND LOCATION.
Now choose Choose Photo or Take Photo and select the icon image you already have in Photos. Then tap Choose .

You will see the App Shortcut with the desired app icon you set on the iPhone Home screen. Repeat this process for all other apps you want. To open the app, tap the new app icon.

What to do after changing app icons?

After you follow the above steps multiple times and create a handful of custom app icons, you would want to get rid of the actual standard app icons to have an exciting look. Because what’s the point of having two app icons for the same app?

Press the actual app icon, and tap the minus (-) sign → Remove from Home Screen . Now, this app icon will no longer be on your Home Screen but in the App Library .

Next, use a combination of iOS Widgets , third-party widgets like Widgetsmith , and customized app icons to have a truly unique iPhone Home screen appearance! It is time-consuming, but the results are fantastic!

Extra info: Some apps like Reddit and Over offer an internal way to use a different (not custom) app icon. You will find this in their respective app settings.

Head to the website and click “Icons” to browse the library. Once you find the preferred icon, click the “Download” button to save it as a PNG file. You may also download entire packs instead of individual icons.

After you’ve saved the icon as a PNG file, you should convert it into an ICO file. This can be done using different third-party tools, for example, ConvertICO . The tool allows you to upload up to 50 PNG files at once or paste a link to the image instead of downloading it to your PC first.

Do all app shortcuts have alternative icons in Windows?

Windows library contains many alternative icons for some app shortcuts. However, third-party apps don’t always have alternative icons. For instance, Google Chrome has multiple alternative icons designed by developers, while Adobe Creative Cloud doesn’t have any. Thankfully, you can upload a custom icon for any shortcut.

Can I change the icon of the app and not the shortcut in Windows?

You can change the main app icon rather than a shortcut icon only with select apps – “Recycle Bin,” “This PC,” “Network,” and your main file folder (the name may differ). Here’s how to do that:

1. Click “Start,” then click the gear icon on the left to access the Settings menu.

2. Select “Personalization,” then navigate to the “Themes” tab from the left sidebar.

3. Click “Desktop icon settings.”

4. In the “Desktop Icons” tab, select any icon.

5. Click “Change Icon” and select the preferred icon from suggested or upload a custom file by clicking “Browse.”

6. Click “Ok,” then “Apply,” and exit the window.

Why can’t I change a folder icon in Windows?

If you want to change a folder icon in Windows but don’t see the “Change Icon” option, chances are, you’re attempting to change the main folder icon. Windows has five main folders: Desktop, Pictures, Documents, Downloads, and Videos. There’s no way to change the main folder icon unless you create a desktop shortcut.

Introduction.

This tool can help you change the cover of your EPUB ebooks, you can use an existing image or design your own ebook cover and save it as an image, then set it as a new cover, the tool support many images, such as JPG, BMP, GIF, PNG and more. The tool offers two main options "Image Resize" and "Background". For the "Image Resize" option, you can set value to "Auto", "Fill", "Stretch" or "Tile". For the "Background" option, you can choose various colors such as "Blue", "Green", "Gray", "Olive" and more, if you select the "None" value, the tool will create a cover with a transparent background.

Select an EPUB file.
Select an image file (such as *.jpg, *.bmp, *.gif, *.png and more).
Click the "Convert" button to start uploading your files.
Once the upload is complete, the converter will redirect a web page to display the conversion results.

Auto, resize image and place it in the center, you can specify the background color. For the background option, if you select the "None" value, the image will have a transparent background.

The maximum upload file size is 200 MB.

Credit Timer Cooldown

I cant rate it any lower than 4 stars since there’s literally no other free AI song cover app or website that I can find. 80% of the songs come out good, and every single song I’ve made at least has its great moments. The only issue is that it takes 48 hours to make one song. 24 hours for the 15 second preview, and then an additional 24 hours for the full song. I’m getting used to it, but it is really annoying. I’d even be happier if it was 24 hours per full song, 12 hours a credit. I think that’s way more realistic and understandable. It still may not be for everyone, but it would be an improvement. Currently i’ve made 11 full songs. That doesn’t sound like a lot, but that’s over 528 total hours (i don’t always catch it on time) making very few songs!!! Its crazy, but i’m so desperate for an app that i put it up with it. Still loyal tho 😤

Avoid at all costs. Misleading subscription & Pricing Model

This application is extremely misleading and deceptive. The application says at the welcome screen that it has a basic version, and a premium version. The subscription model, and options start as low as $6.99 USD a week, is much included “unlimited AI cover credits” yet, despite being enrolled, and billed for the weekly premium charge. When trying to proceed in creating a cover it will guide you through the 1.7 minutes of “AI training materials” but after getting past that, choosing a title name for the Voice, and photo” it will tell you that you don’t have enough credits and a pop up appears saying to purchase credits starting out at 500 credits and going up. This is a blatantly false and deceptive tactic that violates the App Stores terms of service as a developer, and consumer laws. They’ll comment on any review that they really want to fix the issue, yet no reviewer has updated their review to indicate anything was fixed. They don’t respond to any email sent to them. No matter if it’s 3,5,7 or 30 days for a response. It’s outrageous. Avoid for your own sake.

UPDATE 2: They WILL NOT answer any email you send them, it has been over a week and I have gotten no responses. I have scoured my inbox to check if I am missing anything and there is no reply. Update: I already emailed you two days ago. I was told that I would only wait a MAXIMUM of 24 hours. Just give me back my money and I will be on my way. I saw ads for it on TikTok and decided to give it a try. I was slightly peeved that I had to pay $6.99 a week to even use the app, but I pushed passed it because I wanted to give the app a chance. I spent 15 minutes reading those stupid scripts to train my voice ai only to be told that I didn’t have enough credits and would have to pay a minimum of $10 more to use it. I got fed up and didn’t use it for a day or two before going back and using one credit to make a cover from the premade ai’s. The quality was so bad that I instantly went to apple to demand a refund. They said that I couldn’t get a refund and I was never given a reason why. This is a trash app that is not worth your money. I want my money back.

Imagine if the government offered dental care. New federal rule could make that a reality.

Even when she had a massive infection and grueling pain from a cracked tooth, Nicole Sutton could not get a dentist to provide timely care.

Sutton, a single mother based in Tampa, Florida, could only get herself on a waitlist where she got in line to see one of the few dentists who take Medicaid, the government insurance for low-income families. She visited a hospital emergency room and a federally funded community health center, but those appointments only yielded prescriptions for antibiotics and pain pills. Neither offered to treat her dental crisis.

It wasn’t until she secured a loan from a friend that she could afford to see a specialist and an oral surgeon who extracted her tooth in an emergency procedure. Both demanded cash upfront.

It took months to clear the infection and return to health. The protracted dental episode two years ago exposed Sutton to the lurking disaster millions of Americans face because they don’t have robust dental insurance that guarantees access to oral care . A solution from the federal government may be forthcoming, which could have made a huge difference for Sutton.

“A dental infection can kill you,” Sutton said. “Yes, there's pain, but it can also really impact your health.”

Introducing Affordable Care Act dental insurance

Americans experience dental emergencies every year and the U.S. health care system is ill-equipped to help them, according to advocates.

The Affordable Care Act extended health insurance to tens of millions of Americans, through federal and state marketplaces that sell subsidized health insurance and Medicaid expansion adopted by all but 10 states.

But President Barack Obama's signature 2010 health care law excluded dental coverage for adults. The health law required states to offer pediatric dental care as an essential health benefit for ACA plans.

In a move last month that received little fanfare, the Biden administration finalized a rule that would give states the option of adding adult dental insurance coverage as part of their Affordable Care Act plans.

In another attempt to bolster dental coverage, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Friday introduced the Comprehensive Dental Care Reform Act of 2024, a bill that would expand dental coverage through Medicare, Medicaid and the Veterans Administration and increase the number of dentists, dental hygienists and dental therapists nationwide.

The deficit in dental coverage is immense: Nearly 69 million U.S. adults did not have dental insurance or access to routine oral health care last year, according to a survey by the nonprofit CareQuest Institute for Oral Health. Millions more lost dental insurance last year when states began to unwind Medicaid coverage for people who signed up during the COVID-19 pandemic.

People who don't have coverage often wait before seeking care, and minor infections turn into life-threatening ordeals, advocates say. Those who rely on safety net programs such as Medicaid or community health centers that are federally qualified often end up on wait lists and struggle to get timely dental appointments. Only 1 in 3 U.S. dentists agree to take care of Medicaid patients. Even fewer dentists see a lot of Medicaid patients.

Dentists can limit which insurance plans they take and require uninsured patients to pay cash upfront. Others steer patients to credit-card-style companies that extend credit with high interest rates. Under the arrangement, dentists get paid immediately, and patients get bills and face high-interest penalties if they don't pay the balance during a grace period of several months.

Advocates like Melissa Burroughs, director of public policy at CareQuest Institute for Oral Health, aim to level the playing field, making dental care accessible to all.

“For far too many people in this country, oral health care is unaffordable and out of reach,” Burroughs said. “And that's largely because there are very significant gaps in insurance.”

Under Biden's rule, states have until 2025 to decide whether to mandate that insurers cover dental benefits for adults. The dental benefits would not take effect until 2027. No states have publicly signaled yet that they intend to require ACA dental benefits in 2027, however, advocates say the new rule could represent a significant expansion of dental insurance, which gets less scrutiny than medical insurance for hospital, doctor and pharmacy bills.

Sanders has rallied for dental reforms for more than a decade. In 2022, the senator unsuccessfully pushed for Medicare to provide comprehensive dental coverage for older Americans. During a hearing Thursday of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee he chairs, Sanders said tens of millions of American adults either can't afford or are unable to get necessary dental care. The hearing featured testimony from dentists, advocates and academics who discussed the depths of the challenge of providing nationwide oral care access.

"This is an issue we do not discuss enough," Sanders told the committee. "It is a crisis issue."

Advocates cheered the renewed attention to dental health insurance. The Biden rule is "pretty monumental" because it could pave the way for more robust dental coverage, said Colin Reusch, senior adviser for oral health policy at Community Catalyst, a health advocacy organization.

Reusch said about a half dozen states have previously explored the possibility of adding adult dental benefits, but, he said, it's too early to say whether any would consider adding coverage under the Biden rule.

Americans are more likely to skip dental care because of the cost than to forego other types of health care such as costly doctor visits or prescriptions.

Dental coverage and access is "one of the places where people face significant affordability barriers," Reusch said. "In fact, dental coverage presents a higher out-of-pocket burden compared to just about any other category of health care."

'Beauty and smiles' stymied by gum disease

New York City native Shaena Morris became accustomed to top-notch medical and dental care as a child and young adult. She took diligent care of her teeth, getting routine cleanings and checkups.

But when she moved to Florida with her family a decade ago, she could no longer count on timely appointments or access to care.

When her gums became inflamed after the birth of her first child, one dentist recommended a $4,000 deep cleaning that her dental insurer, Medicaid, would not cover. Now a resident of Dania Beach, Florida, Morris has cycled on and off of a public health insurance program as her household income has changed. Even when she's on Medicaid, she often cannot get timely appointments or coverage of dental specialists that she needs.

Beyond dealing with pain and discomfort, she feels her inconsistent dental care has harmed her career as a cosmetologist doing hair and makeup for the likes of Paris Hilton. She believes her clients and managers have noticed her dental problems. She ultimately walked away from a profession she'd been in for nearly two decades because of what limited dental care did to her oral health.

"Beauty and smiles − that's my life," Morris said. "My talent can no longer sustain me because people need you to look like Photoshop."

Dental care and job prospects

About 30% of low-income adults nationwide and nearly 60% of Medicaid beneficiaries without dental access believe the appearance of their mouth and teeth has limited their ability to interview for a job, according to a document filed by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as part of the rule change.

"Try to get a job without any teeth in your mouth," Sanders proposed. "Good luck, because you're not going to get it."

Delayed dental care doesn't just impact appearance and job prospects, it's also linked to an array of medical problems. Nearly half of U.S. adults have periodontal disease and more than 40% of children have developed tooth decay by Kindergarten.

Poor oral health is also associated with risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, heart disease, dementia and adverse birth outcomes, research shows.

Lisa Simon worked as a dentist in a community health center where the waiting period for an appointment often exceeded four months. She said she routinely had to extract teeth that she could have saved if Medicaid funding had been sufficient to get patients timely appointments.

Now an internal medicine doctor at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Simon sees more adult patients who have never been to a dentist, including people hospitalized with life-threatening sepsis that resulted from an untended dental infection. Other patients who couldn't afford to remove infected teeth and had to delay chemotherapy. Doctors often recommend patients get dental infections treated before starting chemotherapy.

"Both my medical and dental patients asked me the same question: Why is it so hard for me to get dental care?" Simon said. "There is no good reason."

Dental infection turns fatal

Dentists say the costs of operating a practice, including hiring support staff and hygienists, make it difficult financially for them to take a large number of Medicaid patients. Young dentists often must repay student loans that typically carry higher balances than what medical students owe. The low reimbursement rates from Medicaid make it difficult for some practices to make ends meet.

These issues are especially acute in rural communities that face dental provider shortages. Young dentists who must repay hundreds of thousands of dollars in student loans may be reluctant to practice in rural communities with higher rates of uninsured patients. Two-thirds of rural communities nationwide are designated as having a shortage of dental professional, Sanders said.

Dr. Gordon Roswell Isbell III, who runs a dental practice with his son in Gadsden, Alabama, said the economic and workforce challenges for independent dentists are daunting. His practice employs six dental hygienists who are all near retirement age.

Insurance payments have decreased as business costs have risen, Isbell said, which makes it hard to keep the business afloat.

Dentists who are just getting out of school have a long way to go, said Brian Jeffrey Swann, a private and public health oral physician who lives in Greenback, Tennessee, and also practices in North Carolina and Massachusetts. "It's going to take them five to seven years before they start breaking even," he said.

Swann serves on the board of Remote Area Medical, a nonprofit that provides care at pop-up dental, vision and medical clinics around the U.S. at no cost to patients. People flock to these clinics, often driving across state lines to access care from dentists, hygienists and other volunteer health care workers. Some arrive days in advance of the clinics, sleeping in cars and wrapped in blankets, just to get a chance at free dental or other health care, Swann said.

Swann recounted the case of a 27-year-old Appalachian woman who had a range of health problems and developed swelling under her chin because of an infected, decaying molar. She went to a hospital emergency room where she was given antibiotics and pain pills and instructed to seek dental care.

She visited a dentist who told her it would cost $900 to remove the infected molar. She didn't have the cash, and decided to wait for a refund check before she saw a dentist to extract the tooth.

But her condition worsened over the ensuing months. She had trouble swallowing. Her neck turned black. She ended up at a university hospital where she received IV antibiotics and had her infected tooth extracted. She died two days later. The cause of death: sepsis from an infected tooth.

Swann said the hospital doctors who initially cared for the woman had received no training in oral health. The woman's mother and husband lamented the fact that nobody warned them about the seriousness of her condition.

The mother told Swann, "If they had only told us that a tooth infection could kill my daughter."
