GREAT place to stay. Got an over the water bungalow with a pool and it was well worth the money. The GM, Ga4, was very welcoming, our butler Ashraf has really been accomodating and supportive and our room steward Shamim is very attentive to ensuring the room is clean and perfect. You must do this type of bungalow at some point in your life! We opted for the all-inclusive; the food is good and they provide good variety. I was surprised at the number of families with small children. The only time that was troublesome was at dinner when some children had meltdowns. LOL. We have asked for a late checkout from the bungalow tomorrow, so we'll see how that goes. Will report more later on that.

We had a fantastic stay at Varu. Exceeded our expectations in all respects. We were really well looked after. Do go to the restaurants. Lime & Chilli is fab but all others were worth a try too, Aagy at Su kaage was amazing. She really goes the extra mile. Incredible dining experience. Maldivian traditional experience. Staff & food were just incredible. A must do part of your stay.

Tonight we visited the Su Kaage restaurant in the Varu atmosphere resort. It was absolutely fantastic! We were waited on by Aagy, who has excellent customer service and a very friendly presence. All of the staff were very accommodating and the drinks were delicious. The food…. Was honestly some of the best I have ever had. You get to try a bit of everything and properly experience traditional Maldivian culture! I strongly recommend visiting, you won’t regret it.

The unspoilt beauty of the area, the friendliest staff and quality of food made this a memorable holiday! Our room was well looked after by Nasyu, with little touches, such as fun animals made from the towels The spa treatments were lovely, particular thanks to Kitty, Angelina and Lea. The gym was run very well by Winston and Keshab and cool! The food and wine generally were excellent and varied. Even the buffet did not disappoint, with various themes to change it up and I’m not normally a fan! A couple of staff I have mentioned, that we were directly in contact with, but I have to say all the staff here generally make the place- they radiate a feel good factor and work very hard! It was a perfect holiday with so many kind and caring people like Shamim, Ritika, Sonu, Julia and so so many more... thank you. The bungalows are in excellent condition, the four Restaurants were delicious, the watersports Team - especially Hayyan - and the Dive Center gave us memorable moments and we enjoyed time here so much that we did not want to leave. We can recommend VARU as one of the most beautiful and relaxing spots we ever visited.

Awesome experience”

Property was extremely beautifully. Food was the most delicious, no repetition in menu at all, specially curated by 5 star chefs. staff was extremely polite and helpful. loved every part of it

Great place for vacation ”

Varu is a beautiful island. It takes 45 mins speed boat from Male airport. The boat is spacious and comfortable. We have stayed in the water villa and it’s soooo beautiful with sunset view. But need to take note that the water is a bit deep, almost 2M, thus may not be good for those who don’t know swimming. The foods are good, especially in NU. The Varu plan is very good for those who love wine, they have variety of wine choices. Last but not the least, I must thank you Ashraf from guest service.. He responded our request and questions promptly and tried his very best to resolve the issue that we have encountered during the stay. Overall we enjoyed our stay in Varu and definitely will come back again.

A superb place to spend a relaxing vacation. All the staff were wonderful and special thanks to Janeeka (our house keeper), Saravanan (staff at the gift shop), Ashraf and Anamika who made our stay exceptionally wonderful! Highly recommended!

Amazing experience ”

Rooms are new and spacious, cleaning is very good, food was amazing European, Indian, Maldivian, Asian. Ones a week open buffet in the garden with a grill. Only problem which we experience: my bf want to make me suprised and staff in cinema can’t open a file on computer for 20 min! And no decorations was done as it was promised. Besides that after all this failed situation they want my bf to pay bill infront of me! After all hotel management apologized but mood anyway was spoiled. Island not big but you feel always yourself private. Another bad suprise: we book water villa with Agoda but we got only beach villa and we pay extra to upgrade a villa which we already paid! That was really disappointing because I do booking with Agoda for many years and had excellent service.

PROs: +Biggest impression is that they arrange speedboat from the aiport just for you (Lots of other resorts just ask you to wait for other guests to fill up the boat, so wating time can be hours as people have different flights) So we ended up having a whole boat just for our couple! So nice and wow +Really know how to take care of guests. We told them that we stayed at a different resort before coming to Varu. And Varu actually called the previous resort to check our arrival time. So thoughtful +The staff are super professional & warm. They always greet you with huge smile and remember what you requested. Even the janitors are well-trained to talk to guests and give you lots of travel advice, not just doing their work. +Huge buffet restaurant. They serve all kinds of cuisine from Europian to Asian. Never have to worry if you don't like Indian food. Guest they already anticipated that guests have difffent types of tastes, so they try to make everyone comfortable CONS: +If you read other reviews about Varu, you'll also see warnings not to book room on the West Wing. And that's true! On the left side of the resort, there's a huge rock wall that block your view. If you're unlucky to be arranged on that side, it will ruin half of your experience since you cannot have a view of the beautiful sea and makes your photos ugly. I guess it's part of the nature sites, so they cannot remove those rocks. But that's a big disavatange for the location. +The dive center staffs were friendly. We booked a Swimming with Nurse Shark tour with them, yet having a 50/50 feeling. On one hand, the staffs are very nice and guide you carefully. On the other hands, the spot they dropped us only have 2-3 sharks. And what's worse is that the guy don't know how to take pictures or filming. He just took pictures of the sharks but not the guests! So we ended up having footage of the sharks only. But no one know if we swam with them or not! The tour wasnn't worth the money, to be honest.
