Fáilte go dtí Scoil Iognáid de Rís.

CBS Primary School is a Catholic Primary School under the trusteeship of the Edmund Rice Schools Trust (ERST). Our current school building first opened its doors in 1953 and prior to this shared a site with the CBS Secondary School.

Thursday, August 31 st 2023 proved to be a momentous day in the history of Scoil Iognáid de Rís. We enrolled Junior Infant girls and boys and opened our very first Autism Class. This was our first step in becoming a fully vertical co-educational school. We are looking forward to welcoming both Junior and Senior Infant girls and boys to our school in September.

We also cater for boys from Second Class to Sixth Class. Our dedicated and caring staff are committed to providing a safe and happy environment where all our pupils can reach their full potential. We aim to prepare every student in our school for further education and lifelong learning.

At Scoil Iognáid de Rís we actively promote the five key elements of an ERST school in our daily school activities. These elements are:

  • Nurturing faith, Christian spirituality and Gospel- based values.
  • Promoting partnership in the school community.
  • Excelling at teaching and learning.
  • Creating a caring school community.
  • Inspiring transformational leadership.

One of our guiding principles is the achievement of high standards of education in the school. However, in keeping with our philosophy of developing the child as a whole person we also emphasise the areas of sport, music, art and crafts, drama and science. Our extensive programme of extra curricular and  co-curricular activities adds significantly to the life of our school and helps to nurture the unique educational spirit and sense of harmony, respect and community which permeates all aspects of school life.

Here at CBS Primary School we strongly believe in a partnership approach to education whereby all in the school community, pupils, parents, school staff and management work together for the benefit of all.

Please have a browse through our website to find out more about all aspects of our school.
