It’s amazingly easy to become an Instagram story creator. Instagram stories let you share updates in short, limited-time snippets. Stories take a unique vertical form that looks right at home on mobile devices. Instagram PowerPoint templates make design easy.

In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to make an Instagram story using Microsoft PowerPoint. We’ll use a stunning Instagram slideshow template and transform it into a story of your own.

How to Make an Instagram Story With PowerPoint Templates

An Instagram slides template is the best way to become an Instagram story creator. But odds are, you might not have considered PowerPoint as a tool for social media?

Think about it. Most of us use PowerPoint on our computers, while Instagram is very much a mobile app that we use on our phones. But why not leverage an Instagram PowerPoint template to help you share better on social media? You can use an app you already know as you learn how to make Instagram videos.

For our tutorial, we’ll turn to an Instagram slides template from Envato Elements. Elements has hundreds of premium Instagram slideshow template designs to choose from. These are paired with thousands of other slide designs too.

Instagram story creator

If you’d like to follow along, we’ll learn how to make Instagram videos using a template. We'll use Animated Instagram Stories Creator - PowerPoint V1 template from Envato Elements. It’s tailor-made for social media sharing, and it's part of learning how to make Instagram videos.

With the template downloaded, let’s dive in. In a few steps, you’ll learn how to create an Instagram story with an Instagram slideshow template.

1. Add Instagram Story Creator Text

This Instagram PowerPoint template includes an array of slides. Notice that they’re formatted in the vertical style familiar to any Instagram story creator. Begin by selecting the slides that you want to use. Each one will be an individual pane or slide that features in your story on Instagram. 

You can delete or rearrange them to quickly construct the perfect sequence.

To demonstrate here, let’s start on the second slide in the deck. This one has an array of text boxes, and a photo placeholder in the center. The words are placeholders too. What you’ll want to do is swap out the existing text with your own.

How to make Instagram videos

To do that, click into one of the text boxes and select the contents inside. Then, simply start typing. You’ll see the existing text disappear, replaced with your own words.

With text selected, you can also make a variety of style edits. Find these options on the Home tab on the ribbon, in the Font group. With the drop-downs and buttons, you can add italics, bolds, and more. Plus, you can change the font size and style. It’s a powerful way to show how to make an Instagram story cool.

How to make an Instagram story

Be careful, though: remember where you’re sharing these slides . They’re going on Instagram stories, not being fed through a projector onto a giant wall screen. It’s more important than ever to keep your text crisp, clear, and readable. Avoid cluttered layouts and try to use larger fonts anytime you can. 

Repeat these steps across the Instagram slideshow template, adding your own text and customizing its look and feel.

2. Customize Shapes and Colors

With text added, focus on shapes throughout your Instagram PowerPoint template. They already have a pleasant color palette built in. But you can change up each one, if you wish. This lets you add your own sense of style to each slide. And you can match them to your brand’s colors.

To change a shape color, click to select it. When you do, you’ll see a new tab on the ribbon: Shape Format. Click on it, and many design options appear. Find the Shape Fill drop-down and choose it.

How to create an Instagram story

A color chooser menu launches with tiny color thumbnails. Hover over any of them with your cursor, and you’ll see them preview onto your selected shape.

Find a new shade that you like? Click to apply it. It’s the easiest way to see how to create an Instagram story with your own custom colors.

3. Insert Images

Let’s face it: Instagram is a visual app. It focuses on images and less on text . That means that Instagram slides template designs like this really focus on photographs, front and center. They make it easy for you to add photos to share on your stories.

The yellow box in the center of our slide is an image placeholder. It’s there to show where an image will fit on your slide. And in just a moment, you’ll see how to create an Instagram story with photos of your own.

To get started, click on the image placeholder to select it. Then, go to Picture Format > Change Picture. Choose This Device from the list of options.

Browse to a stored image on your computer that you’d like to feature on your 2023 Instagram story design. Click to select one, then choose Insert .

When you do, PowerPoint inserts the image into the placeholder. You’ll see that it’s sized and scaled to fit the square box. But with the image selected, you can pull the circles on the corners to resize and reshape your image. Just be sure that it stays within the borders of your Instagram PowerPoint template slide.

4. Export for Sharing

With your Instagram slideshow template filled out, let’s move to the final last step. What is it? Let's wrap learning how to make Instagram videos by exporting.

To save your Instagram PowerPoint template, click File > Export. From the list of Export options, choose the second one: Create a Video.

You’ll see PowerPoint’s Create a Video options appear in the center of your screen. First is the quality drop-down. Here, you can decide how high of a resolution to use for your story video. 

By default, PowerPoint uses Full HD. This is a 1080p resolution. You can also choose from:

  • Ultra HD (4K)
  • Standard (480p)

Often, the default is your best bet. It preserves a crystal-clear resolution that looks great on mobile devices. But it won’t create a huge file.

Instagram slides template

The other drop-down is also important. Here, you’ll set the duration of each slide. (If you’ve made a recording of your presentation, you can skip this one). Choose Don’t Use Recorded Timings and Narrations.

Then, in the box below, specify how many seconds to spend on each slide. By default, PowerPoint uses 5 seconds. For a fast-paced Instagram story, this is a good choice. But you can easily change it by using the up and down arrows.

When you’ve made your choices, click Create Video. That’s it! PowerPoint exports an .mp4 video file showing your Instagram story slides. This is how to make Instagram videos with PowerPoint.

Engaging social media graphics are a key part of any digital strategy, but social media is a beast that always needs feeding! Online platforms constantly demand new, eye-catching content to keep your products or services at the forefront of your customers’ attention. If you’re a small business or freelancer, keeping on top of social media postings can seem like an impossible task. But you don’t need a crack team of graphic designers for every Instagram post. You have everything you need with PowerPoint. This article will show you how to make custom social media graphics in PowerPoint by leveraging some of our favorite PowerPoint tools and our free productivity and design add in BrightSlide.

Why use PowerPoint? There’s plenty of online content creation software out there and options like Canva are popular due to their pre-built components which help users develop content quickly. However, there are a few downsides to many of these tools:

  • You run the risk of your content looking like everyone else’s.
  • The animation options tend to be limited.
  • Lots of features, including branding options (like custom color palettes), are often only available with premium membership.

The likelihood is you already have PowerPoint and have some experience in using it. Not having to start learning a new program from scratch means you can start creating custom social media graphics straight away and don’t have to worry about watermarks or poor-quality exports from free versions of an unfamiliar software.

Today, I’ll be walking you through how to create an Instagram post in PowerPoint. Let’s get started!

Choose post size

Though PowerPoint is best known for presentations, you can actually set the slide size to anything you want. To do this, go to the Design tab, navigate to Slide Size and select Custom Slide Size from the drop-down menu. Here you can choose from pre-set slide sizes or set your own.

Instagram posts can be square (1:1 ratio), portrait (4:5 ratio), or landscape (1.9:1 ratio). As a portrait image or video takes up the most space on the screen it’s a good option for engaging causal scrollers. Bear in mind that you want your slide to be nice and big, so the quality is high when you export it as an image, video or GIF. For this project we’ve chosen 40cm x 50cm. This post is a great reference for the ideal images sizes for popular social media sites .

Set up your slide

Before you start placing objects on your slide, you need to set yourself up for success. One part of this is setting up a grid to help you design well proportioned, balanced slides. Read more about the importance of grid and guides . You can create guides in PowerPoint by right clicking on your slide and clicking Grid and Guides then Guides . You can add individual guide lines using the same drop-down menu.

Positioning these guides, however, can be tricky as there is no mathematical way to make sure they are in the right place. The easiest way to create accurate guides is to download our free PowerPoint design and productivity add-in BrightSlide . Using its Guides tool, select Create Guides , choose the number of columns and rows you want, and watch the guidelines change in real time – BrightSlide does all the calculation for you!

You also need to set your theme colors to make sure your post fits with your brand’s visual identity. To set the theme colors in PowerPoint head to the Design tab and under the Variants section, select Colors , then Customize Colors.

Click on one of the colors and select More Colors . You can choose from the color wheel or input your own RGB values. You can then name your new theme colors. Click here for a more detailed look at theme colors.

Prepare your images

Eye-catching imagery is important for grabbing users’ attention with your social media graphics. If you don’t have lots of high quality photography of your own, consider using stock photography sites like iStock and Shutterstock or discover the wonders of free photography sites like Unsplash . We have a great list of other free design resources here .

Once you’ve got hold of some great imagery there are a few ways you can edit it in PowerPoint.

Crop to shape

You can crop your images to any shape in PowerPoint – including a custom shape if you want to get creative. To crop to shape, go to the Picture Format tab and under the Crop dropdown menu select Crop to Shape and then select the shape you want to use.

To get a more precise crop, insert your image and then insert the shape you want to use by going to Insert>Shapes . Place the shape over the area of the picture you want to keep, select the image, then the shape and use the Intersect Boolean tool to cut out that section. You can copy and paste the image multiple times to cut out various sections. See more on custom image cropping .

Remove background

If you just want to use the main section of an image you can remove the background. There are a couple of ways to do this. One is using the Remove background tool in PowerPoint; you can find this under the Picture Format tab. Unfortunately, the tool is a bit hit and miss. If your image has a person in it then remove.bg is a great alternative background remover you can use for free.

You could also use the PowerPoint Freeform Shape tool, and the Boolean crop technique described above to cut out a larger section of your image. This is a little more time consuming but can generate great results.

Custom social media graphic layout

Now we can get on with creating the content, adding in text and shapes to make an eye-catching design. Remember to use your guide lines to place your content with care. If you’re looking for inspiration, check out the social media graphics your favorite brands post or browse design inspiration sites like Behance . Because social media graphics are typically viewed on a phone screen, you want to keep it simple without too much text to make sure you get your message across.

Our example uses simple PowerPoint shapes and the Boolean tools to create custom shapes – clouds. Simply place the shapes on your slide, overlapping slightly, select them, then use the Union Boolean tool to create one new shape.

You can then change the fill and outline color of your new shape. We’ve used a slight gradient to create fluffy clouds.

Export social media graphic as image or animate

At this point you can choose to save the slide as an image. Go to File > Save As then change the file type to JPG . This will save each slide as a separate image.

Alternatively, you can add some animation flourishes to help your post stand out from the crowd. When you’re animating you want to keep it simple (nobody needs to see the boomerang animation…ever!), animations like Fade , Fly In and Zoom can all look great. Alternatively, BrightSlide has a built-in animation library you can pull animation combinations from to add a little professional polish to your slide. Go to the BrightSlide tab then select My Animations .

Export social media graphic as video or GIF

If you’ve taken the animation route, then the final step is to export your custom social media graphic. First, record your slide to time out the animations. Go to the Slideshow tab and hit Record Slide Show .

Once you’re happy with the timings, click File > Export > Export as Video or Create Animated GIF.

How to Create an Instagram Slideshow Post

The steps for assembling an Instagram slideshow post are pretty simple. You can start by tapping the “+” button at the bottom of your screen and selecting the “album” icon. From there, you can pick up to 10 photos or videos from your phone’s library.

Each photo or video can be edited separately with its own filter, or you can apply a filter to all the photos and videos you’ve selected. Also, you can only add one location and caption for your entire post.

You can also change the order of a photo or video by tap-and-holding the media item and dragging it to another spot. To remove a photo or video from your post, tap-and-hold and drag it to the “trash” icon at the top of the screen.

When someone likes or comments on any of your photos or videos in your slideshow post, it will appear below the cover image. This could be a little confusing at first glance as comments may appear to not have a link with the cover image!

In feed, you’ll see blue dots at the bottom of slideshow posts to let you know you can swipe to see more. In grid view, slideshow posts are recognized by a “multiple image” icon in the right-hand corner of the thumbnail.

1 . Create Before & After Sequences

The ability to combine up to 10 photos and videos into a single post makes Instagram slideshow posts the perfect outlet to share before-and-after sequences — which is ideal for users in the makeup, fashion, interior design, or fitness & health industries!

To create before-and-after sequence using Instagram slideshow posts, simply select your photos or videos in the correct order, write an engaging Instagram caption , and then post to Instagram. You can even share multiple before-and-after sequences in a single slideshow post if you want to highlight specific aspects of your before-and-after!

Steps to create social media graphics in PowerPoint

Social media graphics in PPT that are engaging are an essential aspect of any digital strategy. Still, social media is a beast that requires constant feeding! Online platforms regularly demand new, eye-catching material to keep your products or services at the forefront of your client’s minds. Keeping up with social network postings can feel daunting if you’re a small business or freelancer. For every Instagram post, though, you don’t require a crack team of graphic designers. PowerPoint provides you with everything you need. This article will demonstrate how to create bespoke social media graphics in PPT using some of our favourite PowerPoint tools and BrightSlide, a free productivity and design add-on.

Why should you use PowerPoint? 

Use PowerPoint to create designs for the following reasons:

  • It is something you already own and are comfortable with.
  • You may make your graphic any size and form you desire.
  • Use a font you like that you have on your computer.
  • Background graphics and textures are available for free.
  • Free clip art can be inserted directly into the app.
  • You can resize, crop, and do some basic photo editing.
  • Your photographs will be saved at the resolution you chose.
  • Making many comparable visuals from a template is simple.

There are a lot of online content creation tools out there, and Canva is one of the most popular since it has pre-built components that let users create material rapidly. Many of these tools, however, have a few drawbacks:

  • You risk having your content appear just like everyone else’s.
  • The number of animation options is usually limited.
  • Many features, such as branding possibilities (custom colour palettes), are generally reserved for premium users.

You most likely already have PowerPoint and have some familiarity with it. You can start designing personalised social media graphics right away without learning a new application from scratch. You won’t have to worry about watermarks or low-quality exports from free versions of unfamiliar software.

Size of the post

Even though PowerPoint is best known for presentations, you may change the size of the slides to whatever you like. Go to the Design tab, select the slide size from the dropdown menu, and then Custom Slide Size. You can choose from various preset slide sizes or create your own. Instagram postings can be square (1:1), portrait (4:5), or landscape (4:6 ratio) (1.9:1 ratio). Because a portrait image or video takes up the most screen real estate, it’s a great way to keep casual scrollers interested. Note that you want your slide to be good and huge, so export it as an image, video, or GIF with high quality. We chose a size of 40cm × 50cm for this project. This article is a wonderful resource for determining the best picture sizes for prominent social networking platforms.

Prepare your slide

Setting up a grid to help you develop well-proportioned, balanced slides is one component. More on the importance of grids and guides can be found here. In PowerPoint, you may add guidelines by right-clicking on a slide and selecting Grid and Guides, then Guides. Individual guidelines can be added using the same dropdown menu. However, positioning these guides might be difficult because there is no quantitative mechanism to ensure that they are in the correct location.

To ensure that your post is consistent with your brand’s visual style, you must also set your theme colours. To customise the theme colours in PowerPoint, go to the Design tab, click Colours, and then Customise Colours under the Variants section. Select more colours by clicking on one of the colours. You can use the colour wheel or enter your RGB values. After that, you may give your new theme colours a name.

Get your photos ready

The usage of eye-catching imagery in your social media visuals is critical for capturing viewers’ attention. Consider using stock picture sites like iStock and Shutterstock, or explore the delights of free photography sites like Unsplash, if you don’t have a lot of high-quality photographs of your own.

There are a few ways to alter fantastic imagery in PowerPoint once you’ve gotten your hands on it.

Crop to the desired form

In PowerPoint, you may crop your images to whatever form you want, including a custom shape if you’re going to get fancy. To crop to shape, go to the Picture Format tab, pick Crop to Shape from the Crop dropdown menu, and then choose the shape you wish to use.

Insert your image and then go to Insert>Shapes to insert the form you wish to use for a more precise crop. Select the image, then the form, and use the Intersect Boolean tool to cut out the piece of the image you wish to keep. You can chop out different image areas by copying and pasting them many times.

Get rid of the background

Remove the background from the image if you only want to use the primary section. There are a few options for accomplishing this. One option is to use PowerPoint’s Remove Background tool, which may be found under the Picture Format menu.

To cut out a larger area of your image, you may alternatively use the PowerPoint Freeform Shape tool and the Boolean crop technique described above. This method takes a little longer but yields excellent results.

Unique layout for social media graphics 

Now we can work on the content, incorporating text and forms to create a visually appealing design. Remember to utilise your guidelines to put your information carefully. Animate or save a social media graphic as a picture

You can select to save the slide as an image at this point. Change the file type to JPG by going to File > Save As. Each slide can be saved as an individual picture.

Export a movie or a GIF from a social media graphic

If you want to include animation, the last step is to export your personalised social media graphic. To time out the animations, first, record your slide. Go to the Slideshow tab and select Record Slide Show to record a slide show.

Click File > Export > Export as Video or Create Animated GIF whenever you’re satisfied with the timings.

How to Create an Engaging Instagram Story/Reels Slideshows in Just Minutes

Instagram Slideshows are a fun and creative way to share multiple photos or videos in a single post on Instagram. Instead of posting individual photos or videos, you can group them in a single post, and your followers can swipe through them like a slideshow.

The best part about Instagram Slideshows is that it’s an excellent way to share memories or experiences in a visually appealing and engaging way.

What is the Difference Between a Carousel and a Slideshow?

On Instagram, a carousel post allows you to include multiple photos or videos in a single post, which users can swipe through horizontally.

A slideshow, on the other hand, is a feature within Instagram Stories that allows you to add multiple photos or videos to a single story. Each slide can have its text, stickers, and other creative elements, but they are not part of your profile feed and will disappear after 24 hours.

How to Make a Slideshow on Instagram

Creating a slideshow is easy and can be done right from the Instagram app.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you make Instagram Slideshows for Instagram Reels and Stories.

How to Make a Slideshow Story for Instagram

Open the Instagram app and click the “+” sign on your profile picture (top left-hand corner of your screen.)

Tap on the “Select” feature to choose up to 10 photos or videos. It’s an icon with two overlapping squares. Better still, you can take new ones using the Instagram camera. Done? Tap on the arrow located at the bottom right corner.

Once you’ve selected your photos or videos, you can edit them by tapping on each one. You can add stickers, text, mentions, or doodles to each photo or video. Once you’re done, Tap on the arrow at the bottom right corner.

You can share your slideshow by tapping on “Your Story” or sharing it with your followers through the Direct Message option.

How to Make a Slideshow Reel for Instagram

Open the Instagram app and tap the “+” sign at the bottom center of your screen. This will take you to the camera screen, where you can tap on “Reel.”

Next, take your photo or video with the Instagram camera or tap on the square icon located at the bottom left corner of your screen to access your gallery.

Now, select up to 10 photos or videos you want in your Instagram Story slideshow by tapping the overlapping squares icon. Pick them in the order that you want them to appear in your Reel. Tap on the arrow located at the bottom right corner.

Add music, filters, voiceovers, sound effects, special effects, aesthetics, stickers, and text. Tap on the edit button at the bottom of the screen to reorder your photos or videos and adjust/replace the audio.

Once you are satisfied with your Instagram Slideshow, tap on the bottom right arrow button to proceed. You can add a caption and hashtags, and tag other users. Then, click on “Share” to publish your Reel.

Videos on Instagram, also known as Reels, are one of the most popular types of content on the platform. But if you're still relatively new to using videos on Instagram, here's everything you need to know about creating them and finding your liked videos on the platform.

1 How Do You Post Videos on Instagram?

There are two main ways to post videos on Instagram: by uploading an existing video as a Reel or by recording your video using the Instagram app.

If you're uploading a previously recorded video to Instagram, follow these steps:

  • Press the plus (+) icon to create a new post on Instagram. It doesn't matter if you use the Post or Reel tab, Instagram will automatically convert your video to a Reel.
  • Select the video from your gallery. This will then take you to the video editing screen where you can tweak the video further.
  • When you are done applying edits, press the right-facing arrow to move onto the next step.
  • Enter your caption and relevant hashtags. You can also tag people and select where your video will appear on your profile.
  • When all the relevant information you want to include is added, tap Share to post your video.

If you want to make a new video in the Instagram app, use these steps:

  • Press the plus (+) icon to create a new post on Instagram. Make sure you switch to the Reel tab and select the Camera button.
  • Tap the center recording button to start and stop recording. You can also use the buttons on the left of the screen to add audio, effects, and other elements. When your clip is ready, tap Next .
  • The next screen allows you to edit your video further. You can add stickers, text, and more. For more granular control, tap the Edit video button to show more controls. When you are ready, press the Next button.
  • You can then add your caption and hashtags, tag the relevant people, and add a location if you want. After you've added all the information you want to include, tap Share .

Out of the two methods, I prefer to upload an already edited video to Instagram. I create short-form videos using Capcut and then post them to Instagram and other platforms, rather than editing within the Instagram app.

2 How Do You Save Instagram Videos?

Saving videos on Instagram is not the same as downloading them. Saving a video either adds it to your Saved posts or saves it to your drafts, depending on whether you're viewing a video or uploading a video.

To save an Instagram video you are viewing, tap the three dots at the top right of the post and select Save . To view Saved posts and collections on Instagram, go to your profile, open your settings, and select Saved .

If you want to save a video draft on Instagram, make sure you've applied edits to a clip and press the back button. The app with then ask you if you want to save your draft—tap on the Save draft option. When you start creating a new post again, you can switch to your Drafts folder to start editing where you left off.

Instagram Reels have a maximum time limit of 90 seconds. This is something to keep in mind if you are using multiple platforms to upload your videos. While you can upload a 30-minute video to TikTok (with the app also testing 60-minute videos), you have a much shorter time limit on Instagram.

4 Can You Download Instagram Reels?

This is another area where TikTok and Instagram differ. You can't download Instagram Reels using the app, whereas TikTok lets you download videos with a watermark if you want to share it.

You can use third-party apps to download Instagram videos, but these come with security risks as they are not official apps.

5 Can You See Who Viewed Your Instagram Videos?

Unlike seeing who viewed your Instagram Story, you can't see who viewed your Instagram Reels and videos. The best way to tell if someone has seen your video is if they leave a like on the video.

Even if you have access to the Insights tool for creators, Instagram does not tell you who specifically viewed your video. Rather, it shows you how many views and likes you got on the video.

6 How Can You Find Your Liked Videos on Instagram?

If you want to revisit videos you've previously liked on Instagram , you can see your activity history on the app. To see your liked videos, open your profile and select the hamburger menu to access your settings. Next, select Your activity and on the next page select Likes .

On this page, you can view a grid of your liked posts. You can also unlike posts if you no longer want them saved in your activity. This is a useful way to find accounts whose content you like but which you may not have followed yet. It can also help you find shop items you have liked before.

These are some of the phrases you’ll hear from creators on live streams when talking to their audience. Livestream chats are just one example of how creators nurture their communities on social media. With Discord, Twitch and other one-to-many platforms continuing to gain popularity, creators and influencers are transforming how they interact with their supporters.

Since Meta announced Instagram broadcast channels in February 2023, creators have used the functionality to foster closer connections with their most devoted followers. Influencer relationships are evolving, and marketers need to adapt how they ‌collaborate with them as new ways to connect emerge on social.

In this article, we’ll cover how to use Instagram broadcast channels for your influencer strategies and show you creators who connect with followers in unique ways.

What is an Instagram broadcast channel?

An Instagram broadcast channel is a one-to-many messaging feature that enables creators to send direct messages to their audience, creating an exclusive chat experience for loyal followers.

A creator can send messages, questions, voice notes, links, photos and polls to members on the broadcast channel. Although members can’t send messages to the channel, they can vote and react to messages the creator sends. Creators can only send messages to followers who have joined their channels.

How to use Instagram broadcast channels for brand-influencer strategies

Instagram broadcast channels are an opportunity for businesses to rethink influencer-brand partnerships . Along with nurturing a community, Instagram broadcast channels are often used to promote the creator’s projects, brand partnerships and content on other social platforms. Typically, broadcast channels are only available for creator accounts, but some business accounts are eligible. If your brand account isn’t available, we recommend working with influencers to incorporate broadcast channels into your influencer strategy.

Here are five of our favorite ways to use Instagram broadcast channels for brand-influencer strategies.

1. Use polls to inform your campaign content

Collect information about your audience and get feedback by asking creators to share polls and/or ask questions. Based on the results of the poll and responses, you can use the insights to inform your campaign messaging and content.

2. Share live updates during an event or activation

Tap creators to use broadcast channels for live updates during a brand trip or activation. If your business is hosting or sponsoring an event, the creator can share behind-the-scenes content that typically isn’t shown on feeds or from a brand account. Creators can also share posts ahead of your brand’s event to help generate excitement and interest.

3. Promote external channels

Cross-promote content by sharing links to your other social media channels. Links in broadcast channels are interactive, so members can click on them and be directed to your website or another platform like YouTube to increase visibility and traffic.

4. Use Instagram Subscriptions for early access launches

Instagram subscriptions allow creators to monetize by offering exclusive content and benefits to followers for a monthly fee. Creators can offer broadcast channels solely for subscribers. Beyond exclusive content, the subscriber-only channels can be used to support product launches and sales. For example, a creator could have one broadcast channel ‌open to all followers and another made for subscribers. In the subscriber channel, the creator can offer early access links or discount codes for a new product. This tactic can also be used for restock notifications of best-selling items.

Your social team can work with creators to determine how your brand wants to leverage subscriptions, but this is also a great opportunity to lean on your influencer marketing manager for guidance.

5. Build broadcast channels into your influencer campaign briefs

If you want to take advantage of broadcast channels, build them into your influencer campaign briefs. When creating your influencer campaign brief , you can list broadcast channels as a tactic and outline expectations for the partnership. For example, you can outline the approval process, the content type(s) you want created and shared to followers and key messaging points.

How to find broadcast channels on Instagram

You can only access broadcast channels via the Instagram app. You can find broadcast channels via notification or bio link. Here’s a step-by-step guide to show you how to find channels:

If a creator you follow starts an Instagram broadcast, you’ll get a notification inviting you to join their channel. Click on the notification to see the Invites pages. On the Invites screen, you’ll notice the Most popular and Most active tabs. These tabs feature broadcast channels you don’t follow.

Instagram bio link

You can find broadcast channels in the bio section. Simply tap the message icon next to the broadcast channel name.

There might be more than one broadcast channel depending on the creator or business. For example, the NBA has three broadcast channels in their bio: NBA, NBA Draft and NBA All-Star.

3 examples of creators using broadcast channels

1. @jazmynjw.

Comedian and content creator Jazmyn W ( @jazmynw ) uses her broadcast channel ‌to nurture community. Along with using voice messages to share jokes and inspirational messages, she shares polls and asks questions to interact with her audience. For example, in the image below, she asks about weekend plans.

Jazmyn also uses the channel for promotion. For instance, she announced her comedy tour on her broadcast channel. To learn more about her ticket sales and gauge interest, she asked, “I’m on tour right now. Y’all coming? Why or why not?”

Jazmyn’s broadcast channel serves as an excellent example for creators and brands looking to connect and learn more about their audiences to inform future content and activations.

2. @fazerug

@fazerug’s broadcast channel is filled with ‌inspirational quotes, exclusive discount codes and giveaways. To support the launch of his candy brand, the entrepreneur offered a limited-time discount code to members.

He also uses the broadcast channel to promote posts on his main page. For example, in the image below, he shares a link to a photo and tells the group to comment on a specific phrase:

Olympic champion Mikaela Shiffrin ( @mikaelashiffrin ) gives her audience an inside look into her life as a professional ski racer. Her broadcast channel is adorned with behind-the-scenes photos and videos, but you’ll also find her promoting various videos on YouTube—many of which are sponsored by brands. She shares videos with her community first before sharing it more widely.

Along with launching videos to her broadcast channel, she encourages members to share feedback and ideas for upcoming episodes and seasons. For example, below she shares a new episode of Moving Right Along, which was sponsored by Adidas Terrex.

Sabrina Carpenter Makes a Surprise Cameo—in Retro-Style Swimwear!—at Vogue World 2024 in Paris

Tonight’s Vogue World 2024 event in Paris brought out an A-list celebrity crowd—both in the show itself and the front row. If you missed the livestream of the presentation, the fashion-minded event saw different sports—including cycling, gymnastics, tennis, and fencing—paired with a distinct decade in French fashion, going all the way back to the 1920s. One notable name who made a cameo during the section that celebrated 1940s aquatic sports? None other than singer Sabrina Carpenter, who walked the runway in Act II wearing a red-and-white-striped beachy look.

The star—who has delivered the songs of the summer with “Espresso” and “Please Please Please”—took to the Vogue World runway in a custom Jacquemus look. Styled by Carine Roitfeld, the ensemble took cues from the beachy style of Brigitte Bardot; Carpenter wore a swimsuit-inspired dress punctuated with two tones of nautical-style stripes—and an Old Hollywood–style headscarf, of course.

Carpenter’s statement look not only felt fresh and on point for the coming summer season, but it also nodded back to the retro swimwear she recently sported in her “Espresso” music video . What You Need to Know About Instagram Broadcast Channels (And How to Create Them)

Instagram's broadcast channels feature allows creators send one-to-many messaging. Here's what you need to know about the feature and how to use it.

If you’ve seen several messages saying, “@username invites you to join their Broadcast Channel,” you’re me over the past few months since Meta announced the feature in February 2023. And what was once a trickle is now a flood as Instagram opened its Broadcast Channels feature to (almost) every user in June 2023.

So what’s this feature? How does it work? These are a couple of the questions we want to answer about this feature for Instagram creators.

How do Instagram broadcast channels work?

If you’ve been looking for ways to get big updates to your Instagram audience that you’re confident will be seen, this feature is for you.

Broadcast channels are one of the latest Instagram features. They allow creators to send direct messages to their followers. For the receivers, it’s like a mass WhatsApp group text you can’t reply to. Anyone with a Creator account on Instagram can access it and open up their one-to-many group chat .

This feature capitalizes on what Instagram's CEO Adam Mosseri noted as the shift in how users are engaging on the platform – in private messages.

Friends post a lot more to stories and send a lot more DMs than they post to Feed. If you want to make sure you never miss a feed post from a friend, add them to your favorites and they’ll show up at the top. — Adam Mosseri (@mosseri) July 26, 2022

Two things to note about broadcast channels:

  • creators can only reach followers who have joined (that’s why you’re seeing the notifications)
  • channel members can’t reply – they can only react with emojis to show their support or otherwise of the creator’s message

The Instagram channels feature is reminiscent of YouTube’s Community tab , except those allow comments. Still, it’s a valuable tool as it gives creators a direct way to communicate with their segment of followers that actively engage with them.

Why create an Instagram broadcast channel

You can use broadcast channels to share content you want a specific group of people to see. That group could be people you want to give exclusive access to your Instagram content (like a behind-the-scenes look).

Or it could just be the people who have indicated that they are engaged followers (by joining your channel), so you know you’ll get better responses from them than putting up an Instagram Story or sending DMs one-on-one. Some more reasons to create an Instagram broadcast channel include:

A better way to send one message to many people

You might have found yourself wishing you had a way to get more of your followers to engage with content that made a specific request, like feedback collection. Or you may have found that your updates get lost in the algorithm.

However, you usually only have two options: send a mass message hoping you get enough people to click through to your site and then take the action you require or send a DM to each follower. But imagine just how cluttered your DMs would get if you message back and forth with all your followers individually.

That’s where Instagram broadcast channels come in. They give creators a one-way, streamlined communication method, so there isn’t too much noise as their followers reply or react at once.

Expanded formats beyond just text

The chat you start with your followers in an Instagram broadcast channel is much like what you’d get in your DMs . It even lives in the same place – your Instagram inbox – on the same tab.

You also have an array of formats to choose from – text, photos, videos, voice notes, and even polls to get feedback or votes from your followers.

Improve your content offering by combining broadcast channels with subscriptions

If you’ve already been using Instagram Subscriptions to monetize your content , broadcast channels are a great way to give your subscribers even more bang for their buck.

You can choose to create exclusive broadcast channels (available only to your subscribers) or create channels open for all your followers. For example, you can have a channel with general updates for your followers and one with exclusive early-access content for your subscribers.

Exclusivity also means you can stretch your content a bit more since you don't have to worry about getting shadowbanned for posting external video content. You can freely crosspost your TikTok content to Reels if people are willing to pay for access to separate content.

A roster of planned updates to broadcast channels

While broadcast channels are already pretty versatile, Meta has recently announced further upgrades to the feature. There’s no information on when these will be rolled out yet, but here’s what creators can expect to see in the coming months:

  • Improved interactions : Expect more interactivity in broadcast channels with question prompts to gather feedback and engage your community in real-time.
  • Collaborations : You’ll be able to improve your collabs by bringing another content creator into your broadcast channel, giving them access to your audience and potentially bringing some of theirs. You’ll also be able to invite fans (members of your community) to chat with you in real time.
  • New ways to promote your channels : You’ll be able to share a link and even previews of your channel to your Instagram Stories for promotion. You’ll even be able to set an expiration date for temporary channels.
  • Channel moderation : You’ll be able to add a moderator to help manage members, messages, and content.

How to create a broadcast channel on Instagram

To create a broadcast channel, you must have a Creator account on Instagram. At the moment, personal and business accounts cannot create broadcast channels.

If you have a Creator account (not a Personal or Business account), you should be able to create a broadcast channel. Here’s how:

  • First, tap the Message symbol at the top right of your feed – or swipe left on your screen

  • Next, select the symbol to create a new message, also on the top right

  • Then, the first option you see should be ‘Create broadcast channel’. This is where you’ll be able to customize your channel. Here, you can choose your channel name, audience (for example, if you want to close it to certain followers), when the channel ends, and whether you want the channel to show on your profile.
  • Finally, select Create broadcast channel again to finalize everything.

If you need to edit an existing channel, repeat the process above – you should see ‘Channels’ at the top of your options. And if you want to see another creator's broadcast channel you've joined, navigate to your Channels tab.

How to invite followers and subscribers to your broadcast channel

Once your new channel is ready, it’s time to invite your followers. There are a few ways you can get them into your channel:

  • Send your first message : When you send the first message through a new broadcast channel, all your followers will automatically get a notification inviting them to join the channel.
  • Sharing an invite link : You can create a channel link to invite someone like you would for a group chat. You can also copy the link by selecting the name of your broadcast channel.
  • Sharing a link to the channel in your Stories : Like any other content you create on Instagram, you can share a link to your broadcast channel in your Stories.
  • Sharing specific messages to your stories : If you don’t want to share the whole channel, you can tap and hold a single message, then tap ‘Share to Story’.

If you can’t find the feature, that could be because there are still regional restrictions in place as Instagram rolls it out to every user. Or it could be because you’re operating a Personal or Business account – so check on that.

Opportunities for Instagram broadcast channels

Instagram broadcast channels open up a new type of communication and a way to foster community among your followers. To recap, some ways to take advantage of the new feature are:

  • Use it to get updates to the subsection of your followers that would benefit from the information without worrying about them missing it because it was on your Story or the algorithm didn’t put it in front of them.
  • If you’ve been thinking about collaborating with other creators or even exploring new ways to enhance your collaborations , inviting them into your channel could be a great way to do so.
  • Offer exclusive content to paying subscribers : Thanks to Instagram’s Subscriptions feature, you can sweeten the deal you offer by making your channel exclusive to paid subscribers and teasing your content in your posts and Stories.

Even if you don’t see immediately how the feature can work for you, it’s so easy to create that you can make one without any larger motive and test it. Try sharing some behind-the-scenes clips or updates about your business, and see if that helps you better connect with your audience.

The sneakers were great, but the accompanying apparel—a bleached blue flannel and varsity jacket that even got modded into Def Jam: Fight for NY —were the real stars of the show. Its rhinestone-studded hoodies and sporty nylon sets have even piqued the interest of Rihanna. With a co-sign like that you must be doing something right. In between all of the big moments, Awake NY has delivered consistent drops highlighted by pieces like striped soccer jerseys (with the perfect NYC touch in the form of a graffiti logo on the back) or painter pants covered in a custom digi camo print. 

Along the way, Awake NY has remained committed to growing its community in various ways. That has meant using its Happy Socks collaboration to host a field day in the park, or working with Marshall to execute live concerts from its New York City flagship. In the Instagram age, plenty of brands are solely focused on viral product and revenue. Awake NY is the antithesis of that. It is a brand that proves the importance of building a loyal community in real life. That’s something that can’t be manufactured by an algorithm. Awake NY isn’t simply transactional. Louis Vuitton

Standout Moments: A stellar collaboration with Tyler, the Creator, an official Timberland collab, and its western-inspired Fall/Winter 2024 runway show

Since Pharrell was appointed creative director of menswear at Louis Vuitton in 2023, each runway presentation has been its own spectacle. With guest runway appearances from friends like Pusha T and Shedeur Sanders to the expansive assembly of looks in each showcase, this new era of Louis Vuitton is worth talking about— even though we’ve argued the multi-hyphenate’s collections might be getting a bit formulaic . 

Regardless, his recipe is working. This year, Pharrell brought the brand to the American West, taking inspiration from Indigenous fashion to create an 80-look campaign filled with Black cowboy staples like embossed leather, genuine turquoise embellishments, whipping fringe, and buffalo plaid. Shortly after, we were introduced to “Craggy Monogram,” a multicolored, hand drawn reinterpretation of the brand's iconic monogram established in its surprise collaboration with Tyler, the Creator. A whimsical blend of Le Fleur and LV, the unconventional collection notably featured a pistachio-colored Damier print chess set with wonky, wooden pieces, an eclair-shaped key holder, and a cereal bowl and spoon set. 

Pharrell’s big and bold strategy at Louis Vuitton culminated at Paris Fashion Week in June to celebrate humanity with “Le Monde est à Vous.” In the gardens of UNESCO we saw collapsible Speedy bags made of buttery leather in baby pink, citron, and peach colorways, as well as new iterations of Damoflage created in the shapes of different continents. Pharrell’s message is clear— LV is for everyone, lovers and friends alike.  — Alessandra Maldonado

Standout Moments: Celebrating its 30th anniversary, collaborating with MM6, and continuing its global expansion into Shanghai

It’s hard to make a “best of" list on this topic and not talk about Supreme. The brand celebrated its 30th anniversary this year and continued its expansion around the globe by opening a new outpost in Shanghai, something to celebrate considering all of the legal woes it has had to deal with in the Chinese market over the years. 

Whether or not you think Supreme is old news at this point, you can’t tell us you don’t get excited to comb through a new lookbook and product preview when it gets revealed. Its most recent lookbook, Spring/Summer 2024, was full of hits. That said, none were better than a linkup with Margiela sub-label MM6 that was rife with great references to both brand’s archives, like the receipt wallet and split varsity jacket that Frankenstein’d together three designs from Supreme’s expansive catalog. The Supreme Timberland boots covered in a steel grate pattern, which officially released in December 2023, felt like one of the driving forces of the work boots trend that took over our social media feeds last winter. Projects with longtime collaborators like Nike and The North Face impressed as usual. They even made a street bike with Ducati—one of those collabs that really just amounts to a “look what we can do” flex that we have come to know and love from Supreme. Big projects aside, SS24 was also full of some solid pieces like the Wave varsity jacket, a grail-level work jacket covered in embroidered artwork by AOI, and an incredibly fun all-over print Gore-Tex shell jacket with Kermit the Frog on the back. 

Sure, you might not be able to operate an entire reselling side hustle flipping anything you buy from a Thursday morning drop like you were able to a few years ago. By the end of 2024, we may even see the brand with a new owner . But don’t let that noise fool you. Three decades in, Supreme is still the blueprint in streetwear.  — Mike DeStefano

Maison Margiela

Standout Moments: A memorable Spring 2024 couture presentation, MM6 collaborations with Supreme and Gentle Monster, and show-stealing looks at the 2024 Met Gala

It would be wrong to call 2024 Margiela’s comeback year. After all, the brand has always been a mainstay for those looking to add some macabre whimsy into their wardrobe. However, you cannot minimize what the brand has accomplished over the last six months. Let’s call it a revival? A reawakening? Label or not, there’s no doubt it’s fucking great. 

Maison Margiela’s Spring/Summer 2024 couture show back in January was one of the most viral fashion moments in a long time. With a stage set to look like a moonlit walk through the underbelly of Paris, models staggered down the runway as marionettes, their skin glazed like porcelain dolls by legendary artist Pat McGrath. Waspie corsets, tea-stained tulle, and cigarette pants were abundant. Some models wore merkins (read: hand-knotted faux pubic hair) and others wore PVC neckpieces. Gwendolyn Christie even closed the show clad in a corseted-rubber dress that felt like a steampunk fever dream. The show was the kind of dramatic display only John Galliano could execute, and we’ve been well fed because of it. 

And, how do you follow up a fashion history-making couture show? With a well thought-out Supreme collab, of course. At first, the idea of the MM6 Maison Margiela x Supreme capsule sounded a little trite. We’ve so often seen luxury fashion houses miss the mark when they attempt to step into the streetwear space. This however, was not the case. The collaboration was full of references to past pieces created by the fashion house, like the $11 bill wallet which was morphed into a Supreme receipt wallet for the capsule. Other notable pieces include a trompe l'oeil box logo T-shirt, blonde wig, and a patchwork faux fur coat, all crafted with that special Margiela je nai se quoi. The brand followed it up with more well-received projects with Gentle Monster and Salomon. We’re sure you’ve seen the leather-wrapped sunglasses and XT-4 mules by now.

Although the aforementioned collabs were enough to secure Margiela’s spot on this list, the brand’s Met Gala looks sealed its fate. Each style worn echoed the artisanal drama Galliano is most known for. Among the few celebs lucky enough to be dressed in Margiela that night, Zendaya’s hand painted lamé and iridescent organza gown and Kim Kardashian’s chainmail skirt both stole the show. — Alessandra Maldonado

Standout Moments: The camo in the SS24 collection, that David Beckham leather jacket, opening its new flagship store on Melrose Place

It’s good to see Guillermo Andrade’s 424 back in the mix. The brand never totally went away, but it has certainly made a grand re-emergence over the past six months that has captured our attention.  

This has all been anchored by 424’s stellar Spring/Summer 2024 collection. The camouflage suede jacket and matching knee-length shorts are some of our favorite pieces we’ve seen released this year. Other standouts from the season also see Andrade recontextualizing classic workwear and sportswear through a more premium lens. Hooded bomber jackets have been crafted out of supple lambskin leather. Striped soccer sweaters have been elevated with religious imagery and a 424 logo patch done in metallic threading. The footwear is also impressive. There are derbys with an exposed steel toe and a chelsea/cowboy boot hybrid done in fun materials/colors like mint green leather. And we have to talk about the Marathon boots, 424’s take on the traditional work boot that look like they have been perfectly draped in fabric. There’s also been viral moments—an unreleased leather jacket with the graphics of a David Beckham Real Madrid jersey heat-pressed onto it that we’re still praying gets released one day. 

Following the closure of his pioneering multi-brand retail shop on Fairfax Avenue in 2022, Andrade also made his return to retail with the grand opening of 424’s new flagship store on Melrose Place in Los Angeles. This time around, the basement location and its cave-like atmosphere are only selling 424. Ye and Westside Gunn were among the big names in attendance to welcome 424 back to LA’s retail scene. The strong front half of 424’s year culminated with a memorable presentation at Paris Fashion Week , which saw models dressed in the brand’s latest wares smashing wooden chairs in a courtyard. Hopefully, this is only the beginning of 424’s second act. We can’t wait to see what Andrade’s experimentation leads to next.  — Mike DeStefano

Standout Moments: Growing its fanbase through denim and jersey exchange programs around the world, continuing to improve its product offering by introducing new cut and sew pieces

Corteiz has hit the ground running. You’d be hard pressed to find a figure in streetwear as hot as its founder Clint419 right now. That’s because the UK brand has capitalized on the hype it garnered in 2023 with huge co-signs from Nike and Supreme. Since then, it’s kept its fans satisfied with each passing drop, while continuing to introduce new silhouettes in the process. What started off as limited drops of logo tees and hoodies, as most brands do, has grown to introduce some cut and sew pieces worthy of adding to your closet. These additions included silky velour tracksuits that even Tony Soprano would fawn over, clean nylon sets to represent Brazil and Italy, quilted bombers, and camo mohair sweaters.

The brand has also continued to find a knack for viral marketing. We loved how the brand was able to join in on the joke about how to pronounce its name (we still aren’t entirely sure). It hosted Da Great Denim Exchange , a one-day event in New York City where the brand invited its followers to swap their jeans for some Corteiz denim. In mid-June, it held a similar activation in Germany encouraging fans to trade in their authentic German football jerseys for an unreleased Corteiz jersey. After all, there’s no better marketing than seeing a brand’s logo plastered across the chest in the wild, right? Not too long ago, Corteiz was a burgeoning UK streetwear brand trying to find its footing elsewhere. Now that it seems to have planted its flag in the US and beyond, it won’t be too long before Corteiz really rules the world. — Mike DeStefano

Joe Freshgoods

Standout Moments: The "When Things Were Pure" collection centered around the New Balance 1000, partnering with Lollapalooza, producing in-house docs to further the brand's storytelling efforts

Perhaps the man himself said it best , “1 lil shoe deal in 2019 turned into an entire lifestyle.” It wasn’t too long ago that Joe Freshgoods was a buzzy designer from Chicago infiltrating the global stage with his neck-breaking New Balance 992s. He hasn’t taken his foot off the gas since then (you can check out his archive if you need proof). Now, he’s one of the biggest names in streetwear, and for good reason. The sneaker collaborations with New Balance have remained the driving force. In 2024, he helped reintroduce the 1000, a forgotten runner from the 2000s. The two colorways and campaign that accompanied them riffed on the culture of the time period that they came from, from juking parties in Chicago to Cam’ron’s iconic pink fur coat. The apparel drop featured Joe’s takes on the wardrobe of the era like oversized football jerseys and airbrushed T-shirts. 

Further proof of his strong ties and importance to his home city of Chicago, he was tapped by Lollapalooza to create a special collection celebrating the music festival’s 20th anniversary. Just last week, he made a lasting impression at Paris Fashion Week without even revealing new product or hitting a runway—instead hosting a classic American cookout that a who’s who of names flocked to. And most recently we’ve seen him tease another impressive collection of apparel that features fun all-over print button-ups for the summer, alongside graphics that pay homage to legendary house producer/DJ Frankie Knuckles. If you’re unfamiliar with the name, don’t worry. He also produced a documentary short to educate his audience about Chicago’s House culture. Joe Freshgoods is a master storyteller who keeps finding new ways to craft these authentic narratives. As long as that continues, you can expect to see his name on this list. — Mike DeStefano

Aimé Leon Dore

Standout Moments: Collaborating with Rimowa, continuing its fruitful partnerships with brands like New Balance and Porsche

Aimé Leon Dore has become an easy target. It’s the brand that a lot of people love to hate. To be fair, the jokes sort of write themselves, even if the brand isn’t necessarily to blame for some of the lame people who have latched onto the world it has created. But if you look beyond the internet’s jokes, there are few brands in the streetwear/menswear space operating as consistently as ALD is. That’s because founder Teddy Santis and his team have been able to keep offering refreshed takes on its proven formula. Its ongoing partnership with New Balance offered up new everyday sneakers for your footwear rotation (if your 550s have been cooked to a crisp), three tonal pairs of the New Balance 1000. It improved upon its LeBron James-approved Vanson leather racing jacket from the year before by adding raffia leather panels to it. Its latest chapter with Porsche included a gorgeous custom cherry red 944 Turbo, accompanied by a matching leather jacket. For the aspiring jetsetter, the brand made classy green Rimowa luggage with gold accents. But what makes ALD so great aren’t even the big collabs, it’s everything else. No matter what your personal taste is, chances are you can find something to add to your closet at ALD. Looking for classic menswear? Try some double-pleated pants or a chore jacket. Want something a bit more casual that you can toss on any day of the summer? There’s a mesh baseball jersey featuring a throwback image of Nas or a pair of colorblocked nylon running shorts with your name on it. There is a reason so many brands are still trying to replicate the look and feel of ALD. It’s perfectly tapped into the wardrobe of the modern man in a way few other brands have been able to. — Mike DeStefano

Denim Tears

Standout Moments: Opening its African Diaspora Goods flagship store in New York City, releasing a collaboration with Arthur Jafa, working on leather goods with Comme des Garçons

This time last year, it would be hard to argue that there were many streetwear brands as red hot as Tremaine Emory’s Denim Tears. Anything with its Cotton Wreath logo stamped on it, from sweatsuits to fitted caps, was a must-have. The mark became so ubiquitous that it even started to receive the bittersweet bootleg treatment. At this point, fatigue has set in for some people. The bigger the logo has gotten, the less cool it feels. But truth be told, Denim Tears was always about way more than a hyped-up logo anyway. The brand is an interesting case study on how to grow beyond your massive hit. And while it hasn’t been a perfect plan, Denim Tears has certainly succeeded. Most notably, the brand opened up its first flagship store in New York City dubbed African Diaspora Goods. Along with selling the brand’s latest wares, it also offers an extensive research library. 

Sure, the Cotton Wreath is still a core offering that gets people excited—arriving this year in rhinestone-embellished and tonal all-black varieties—but we’ve also seen Emory continue to grow Denim Tears’ product offering beyond just Cotton Wreath capsules. A series of leather goods with Comme des Garçons have been some of the brand’s best drops of 2024. The “Kiss My Grits” collection looked at the Black experience through the lens of fresh produce and even spotlighted the Blackseed Brothers, a business that provides fresh fruit and vegetables to Harlem, as part of the campaign. The clothing leaned into this theme with mohair sweaters that look like watermelon rinds, and the polarizing necklaces made using real chicken bones in resin. Perhaps the biggest release from Denim Tears in 2024 was its “Systemic Racism Controls America” capsule with artist Arthur Jafa . The line featured some of Jafa’s works across T-shirts and hoodies, while also flipping a Supreme hoodie from 2007 to fire some not-so-subtle shots in the streetwear giant’s direction. Emory noted systemic racism at the company and lack of communication following a scrapped project with Jafa as reasons he stepped away from his role at Supreme’s creative director in 2023. No matter how you feel about Denim Tears’ approach, the brand is clearly not about to waver. That’s the type of raw authenticity that allowed streetwear to thrive in the first place. There’s a reason his peers like Awake NY’s Angelo Baque consider Emory one of the best storytellers in the game right now . He’s worthy of the praise. — Mike DeStefano

Standout Moments: Collaborations with Levi's and Patta, consistent seasonal collections, an impressive debut jewelry collection

We don’t often see brands as consistent as Stüssy. After all, it’s made this list countless times over the years. Although there are myriad reasons why we’re devotees to the brand, one thing is clear: Stüssy is tapped in. To its identity, consumers, and even the young kids who might not get it yet.

Lately, the brand has shown it can be on trend without feeling like it’s in the market of perpetuating microtrends. Earlier this year, Stüssy launched its first jewelry collection with pieces like an 8 ball stud earring featuring a freshwater pearl, as well as a chain link choker armed with dainty charms. Stüssy has also successfully taken part in runway trends that feel wearable, like the matching buttery leather zip-up hoodie and pants that dropped in its Spring/Summer 24 collection. The brand has even ventured into suiting, which could have been a departure from their repertoire if not for the gauze-like relaxed fit that made the pieces uniquely Stüssy. 

The collabs have also impressed, but that’s no surprise. Stüssy’s ability to seamlessly join forces with their collaborators is one of the things they do best. For its venture with Dutch streetwear brand Patta, it dropped a series of tees, knitwear, and patchwork adorned denim to honor the father of Patta’s co-founder, Humprey Rietfeld Schmidt. With Levi’s, it released leather and denim pieces, as well as a western-inspired embossed leather belt. They even partnered with a Palestinian-led textile collective to produce boucherouite rugs made from their own upcycled tees and wool. Stüssy’s streak of dropping incredible pieces has yet to end, and we’re always excited to see more. — Alessandra Maldonado
