Tahereh Mafi has written all these books in order, so there is only one way to read them properly, and that is by publication date.

This means that the chronological order is the same as the publication order. Don’t pick up a book in the middle because you wouldn’t understand what’s happening. Pick Shatter Me first, then read the books as they were published.

All Shatter Me Books in Order:

1. shatter me (2011).

The first book, Shatter Me , focuses on Juliette, who is afflicted with a strange disease. Anyone she touches dies instantly, and after she accidentally kills someone, the people in charge, called The Reestablishment, lock her up. Being locked away at the young age of 17 would seem like the end of the world, but Juliette figures it’s better than being out in the world. It’s falling apart at the seams and is dying a little more every day.

However, after things get worse with every passing day, and there might be a war on the horizon, The Reestablishment decides that Juliette can be useful. They can use her to turn the tide and get ahead in this war that is bound to start.

It leaves Juliette between a rock and a hard place because if she refuses, they will surely kill her, but if she agrees, what will that make her?

2. Destroy Me (2012) – A Novella

In a desperate situation, you will do whatever it takes to survive and ensure your life is no longer at risk. Juliette had no choice but to seduce Warner to escape The Reestablishment, and shooting him was necessary to ensure she could get to freedom.

In Destroy Me , a novella, the point of view is focused on Warner. As the leader of Sector 45, he has a great deal of responsibility. To not only be betrayed by two people under his leadership but also seriously injured by Juliette is not something he can let go of. He needs to make things right and fix his reputation.

This plan is thrown for a loop when his father, the Supreme Commander of the Reestablishment, arrives, and when he learns what he plans to do with Juliette, Warner has a sudden change of heart.

3. Unravel Me (2013)

Unravel Me takes us to what happens directly after Juliette escapes The Reestablishment and Warner, who is somehow immune to her touch. It’s the first time it ever happened, and it scared the crap out of her.

However, for the moment, she is safe after escaping from Warner with Adam. They end up meeting with some rebels who also have powers. It makes Juliette feel like she is finally not alone. While the powers they possess might not be as deadly as hers, they understand what it is like to feel different.

Together with her new group of friends, Juliette has to try to make the world into something livable again and make sure that the Reestablishment can no longer wreak havoc on everyone.

4. Fracture Me (2013) – A Novella

In Fracture Me , a novella, the focus this time is on Adam, who helped Juliette escape from Warner and the Reestablishment. The two had a thing going for a short time, only to break up eventually. He is devastated by not only the breakup but also everything going on around them.

Their group, Omega Point, is days from attacking a group of Reestablishment Soldiers currently stationed in Sector 45. A war is brewing, and there is no stopping it now. They have all come too far to give up now, even if it could mean the death of everyone Adam knows and lives with.

So, along with the rest of his group, he prepares for the upcoming war. Things seem to be looking up, but Adam knows that Warner and the Reestablishment will do whatever they can to stop them.

5. Ignite Me (2014)

Ignite Me puts us back into the front seat of Juliette’s journey. After the events in Fracture Me , Omega Point has been destroyed. The attack on Sector 45 didn’t go as planned, leaving all of them at the mercy of the Reestablishment.

She again finds herself tethered to Warner, wondering desperately if her friends are alive. Had all of this been for nothing? They had planned every little detail and thought they had the upper hand. Juliette and the rest of her rebel friends could not have been any more wrong if they tried.

Juliette now has no choice but to trust Warner. He says he only wants to help her with her powers and with saving the world. She still intends to take down the Reestablishment but doing so now is going to be a lot trickier.

6. Restore Me (2018)

Juliette Ferrars has been through a lot in her short life. After accidentally killing a man, she finds herself jailed, only to be let out sometime later and used as a weapon by the very people who imprisoned her. Throw in an escape attempt and a failed attack by her rebel group, life hasn’t been easy.

Now, however, things are looking up. Juliette has been named the new Supreme Commander of North America after taking over Sector 45. She even has Warner by her side. Everything is going well. This is why when disaster strikes, Juliette should’ve expected it.

There always is a calm before the storm, and now the storm is here to wreak havoc on them all. Juliette has to decide if she is going to fight or completely give up this time.

7. Shadow Me (2019) – A Novella

Here we have the fifth novella in the Shatter Me series in order. In Shadow Me , we go back a bit and look into the point of view of Kenji, someone who had helped Juliette escape from The Reestablishment, a group who was determined to make Juliette their weapon. He helped her because he just couldn’t let them take advantage of her like that.

Once on the run, Kenji found an even greater weight on his shoulders. He is the current leader of Omega Point, the resistance that wants to take down the Reestablishment. Throw in the fact that Juliette is devastated at how Warner betrayed her, and there is quite a lot for Kenji to deal with.

He wants the resistance to succeed. Not only that, but he also wants his friend’s heart to heal. However, when an unexpected person who was once involved with Omega Point appears, Kenji is thrown into a tailspin.

8. Defy Me (2019)

Juliette thought she had her life figured out. Admittedly, it had been a huge rocky start, to say the least, but after becoming the Supreme Commander of North America, she was determined to do better. However, being a leader is a difficult thing to do. She wants to help everyone she can, including the children of world leaders who have fled to North America, wanting help.

Immediately, Juliette turns to Warner to express what is happening and what she is feeling. However, when he speaks, he tells her that he knows things about her family and past, which change everything. It goes against what she knew to be the truth.

Hearing Warner tell her this was certainly not what she expected to hear. Now it’s out there, and Juliette can’t forget. She has to figure out the truth of it all, no matter what.

9. Reveal Me (2019) – A Novella

In Reveal Me , we are again put into Kenji Kishimoto’s point of view. It’s set during the events of Defy Me . No one is in a good state of mind. Everything Kenji has ever known is falling apart, including his friends’ lives. The last thing he wants is for something to happen to everyone he cares about.

One person is overly concerned about Juliette. When he needs to speak with her one day, he senses something isn’t right. His friend is suffering, and he has no idea why. Must she continue to suffer? Juliette has been through so much during her entire life. All Kenji wishes is for her to finally find some happiness, even if that happiness is found with Warner.

10. Imagine Me (2020)

After fighting so hard, Juliette finally stopped the Reestablishment from doing any more harm. She didn’t do it alone. She did it with her friends and loved ones, who all worked just as hard, if not more, because they were at it far longer than she was.

With the major threat out of the way, Juliette must try to fix the world and make it better. By her side is Warner. He surprises her one day by proposing marriage, something Juliette eagerly accepts. She’d loved Warner for a long time, and she’d love nothing more than to marry him.

The problem is that planning a wedding takes a lot of time and energy. Juliette only has so much energy that she is putting into trying to stabilize everything. If she doesn’t, then things might go to hell again. They have just gotten freedom from the Reestablishment, so this is the last thing Juliette or anyone wants.

Somehow, she needs to balance the two things, and she can only hope that Warner will understand why her focus isn’t entirely on the wedding.

Who is Tahereh Mafi, the Author of the Shatter Me Series?

The author of the Shatter Me series is Tahereh Mafi, who was born in 1988 in Connecticut, USA. She was raised alongside her four brothers by her parents, who had immigrated from Iran.

Eventually, Tahereh moved to California and graduated from Soka University, where she still lives today with her husband and young daughter. The interesting thing about her husband is that he is also a writer, having written the famous book Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children .

But fans of the Save Me series by Mona Kasten already know: The popular book trilogy was adapted into the series for Amazon Prime Video. Officially titled Maxton Hall: The World Between Us, the series premiered on May 9 and is a love story between Ruby and James that’s a mixture of Pride and Prejudice , Gossip Girl , and Gilmore Girls . It’s also one for the BookTok girlies .

What is Maxton Hall on Amazon Prime Video about?

Ruby Bell has exactly one goal: to graduate from the private school Maxton Hall well enough to go to her dream university, Oxford. She came to Maxton Hall on a scholarship and doesn’t get on so well with the other private school students, who are all about partying and money. Her only friend, Lin, shares her ambition—but even she doesn’t fully understand Ruby.

Her family can’t quite understand her high ambitions, either. They are happy with everything Ruby does, but she sees herself as having a greater responsibility with her family, especially her father. He’s in a wheelchair and the family can’t afford a new stair lift, so he has to sleep on the sofa for the time being. So, alongside her school and activities, Ruby works to support her family.

Ruby and Lin stick together.

Ruby knows that her rich classmates will never really understand her. That’s why she only wants to focus on herself and her studies at school. But then she finds out a secret that puts her on the radar of the king of the high school: millionaire heir James Beaufort. He thinks money can buy anything. But he hasn’t met Ruby yet....

In BookTok language, it’s a classic enemies-to-lovers scenario. James is absolutely arrogant and doesn’t want to lower himself to Ruby’s “level.” And so, he treats her like garbage at first. Ruby, of course, doesn’t want to be treated like that under any circumstances—but she is also blinded by her own pride and prejudices against James. When they have to work more closely together, they realize they might not hate each other as much as they originally thought.

With the arrival of Bridgerton Season 3, the first four episodes centers on Penelope and Colin’s transition from friends to lovers while highlighting Francesca Bridgerton’s debut into society. However, an unexpected main player this season is regal mean girl Cressida Cowper. Read on to learn more about Cowper’s love story in Bridgerton and who she marries in the books .

Cressida Cowper (portrayed by Jessica Madsen) was introduced in Season 1 during Daphne’s debut. Despite unsuccessful romances with Prince Friedrich and Jack Featherington, she remains hopeful for a courtship her third time around. Facing pressure from her parents to marry, she becomes set on the the wealthy yet eccentric Lord Debling, who is more interested in Penelope.

Cowper continues her bullying in Season 3, mainly targeting Penelope and Lord Debling’s courtship, but her character begins to pull back layers with the help of Eloise. Their unlikely friendship — driven by Eloise’s fallout with Penelope after discovering her identity as Lady Whistledown — surprisingly works. Eloise’s candidness allows Cressida to reflect on her toxic behavior.

For instance, in a moment of vulnerability, Cressida confides in Eloise about her struggles. She admits to feeling lonely and finding it hard to make friends. “It has been difficult to find a husband,” she shares with Eloise, “it has been more difficult still to find a friend.”

Madsen expanded on her character’s evolution in a recent interview with StyleCaster . “We’ve seen her [Cressida] break down, and I don’t mean break down in the sense of falling to pieces, but we’ve seen her open up and I think once you open, you’re receptive to change,” the actress explained. “I hope that by the end of the season, people don’t forget the beginning.”

Given Cressida Cowper’s family wealth and status, one would expect her to have a suitor by now — and in the books, she does. However, Netflix’s Bridgerton series has taken a slightly different approach to Madsen’s character by delaying her love story for a later time.

In Julia Quinn’s third book in the “Bridgerton” series, titled “An Offer From A Gentleman,” Cressida eventually marries a nobleman named Lord Twombley (a character not yet introduced in the show). While some might wonder why she didn’t end up with Lord Debling after he rejected Penelope, Debling was a character created for the show and does not exist in the novels.

In “An Offer From A Gentleman,” Cressida Cowper marries Lord Twombley before Colin and Penelope’s love story unfolds in the fourth book, “Romancing Mister Bridgerton.” Unfortunately, Cressida’s husband dies, leaving her a struggling widow.

It’s currently unclear how the show will handle Cressida Cowper’s marriage to Lord Twombley or if his character will be introduced in part two or future seasons. Some fans are even hoping for a deviation from the books where Cressida is queer and enters into a relationship with another woman, possibly Eloise.

When asked by Decider about the fandom’s queer-coded read into Cressida and Eloise’s friendship, she responded that she would “absolutely love that.” She continued, “That would be the best! Yeah, I mean, that would be cool. I like to think it would make sense because, like, she hasn’t bagged a guy. So, like, why not a gal? But yeah, I have really no idea.”

A relationship with Eloise may be unlikely, considering the fifth book, “To Sir Phillip, With Love,” revolves around Eloise’s romance with Sir Phillip Crane. Fans will have to wait and see what direction Cressida’s love life will take.

Bridgerton Season 3, part one, is now streaming on Netflix. The second part will be released on June 13, 2024.
