Take a Trip Through Your Xbox History With the Xbox Museum

Xbox Museum header (1)

Want to know what your most played games are for the last five years? If you’re an Xbox gamer, that information is now at your fingertips, as well as whole lot more.

The Xbox Museum is an in-browser experience that lets you view your Xbox history. It shows you when you first used each Xbox console and what game you played, your most played game in a selection of categories, and numerous other random stats and titbits of information that you might find useful and/or amusing.

Logging in myself, I wasn’t that surprised to discover that my last five years of Xbox gaming have been dominated by Diablo III and Forza Horizon 4 , while Forza Horizon 5 has quickly become my most played Xbox game of 2021. It’s just a shame it doesn’t tell you exactly how many hours you’ve spent with each of them. With Diablo III being my most played Xbox game overall, I’d wager I’ve spent a good few hundred hours slaying foul demons and beasts in the world of Sanctuary.

As well as giving you an overview of your personal history with Xbox, the Xbox Museum also allows you to explore important moments of Xbox history. From the creation of the original Xbox to the launch of the Xbox Series X/S, everything is covered, and you can explore in as much detail as you wish, with over 130 moments to be discovered.

Want to explore the Xbox Museum and view your own personal stats? Simply head to museum.xbox.com and sign in. From there, you can either explore the history of Xbox to your heart’s content, or go to your personal museum. Either way, there are some interesting pieces of information and stats to be found.

Microsoft has created an Xbox metaverse museum where you can roam around and discover the history of Xbox consoles. It’s designed to celebrate 20 years of Xbox and includes some infamous mistakes like the Xbox 360 red ring of death or Microsoft’s attempt to acquire Nintendo in spring 2000.

As you roam around this Xbox museum , you’ll see fellow Xbox players interacting with the digital exhibits and charting the progress of the original Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and the latest Xbox Series X / S consoles. Each moment in the 20-year timeline has an associated story, usually with a video documenting the milestone.

There’s even a personal Xbox museum, so if you’ve ever owned an Xbox console, you can look back at what games you played first on certain consoles, the number of games you’ve played, and even when you first signed into Xbox Live. For some reason, Pac-Man was one of the first games I played on Xbox 360, and I apparently first signed into Xbox Live 18 years ago.

You can explore a total of 132 moments in Xbox history throughout the metaverse museum and navigate around using WASD on a keyboard. Each moment has its own link, and you can even share your own anniversary museum section with others.

There’s a personalized museum for each Xbox player.

Microsoft is celebrating 20 years of Xbox in 2021, and there's a good chance that you've been part of that journey for part of those two decades. To reminisce, a new Xbox Museum site is live with 3D interactivity, and it also offers a look back at your own history with the console family.

Once you're at the Xbox Museum page, you can sign in by clicking on the trophy in the middle, at which point you'll get some statistics about how many Achievements you've received and which systems you've played. But click on it again after you go back to the home page and you'll be sent into a 3D space with an avatar you can control around a huge room. If you share your link, you can even let other people join your room.

Is this the metaverse?

Clicking on any of the consoles will give you similar rooms filled with avatars running around as they explore past Xbox history. As you go through the first room, you'll see how the original Xbox came to fruition, and a separate Halo museum even has details on the game's development and the original Halo: The Fall of Reach novel--which you should definitely read because it's great.

The museum isn't a sugar-coated view of the Xbox brand, either, with the Xbox One section calling out the system's high price and initial online-only and Kinect requirements. As things improved, of course, the little stories you can see get more positive, and the Xbox Series X|S section ends with a teaser of cloud gaming and the upcoming six-part documentary series. You can actually exit through a virtual gift shop, too.

The museum arrives just a few weeks before Halo Infinite is due to launch. It's shaping up to be an enormous title for not just Xbox Series X|S, but also Xbox One and PC. You can check out our thoughts on the multiplayer and read our campaign preview now.

Xbox 20th anniversary museum

Xbox 20th anniversary museum is a virtual walk through Xbox history

Image of Eric Van Allen

Finally, a monument to my Gamerscore

Microsoft has been celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Xbox this year. And as part of the festivities, today the company launched a virtual Xbox museum, featuring both its own history and yours.

The Xbox museum page lets you take a walk down memory lane in a multiverse-style virtual landscape. Other avatars roam around the exhibits, and you can step up to them to get a closer look. See Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson help announce the original Xbox, or visit the exhibit about the infamous Red Ring of Death.

The Rock can be spotted in the Xbox 20th anniversary museum

You can take a walk around Xbox history, seeing the sights and sounds of Microsoft’s console history. Or, you can also step down your own, seeing which games you played the most, which consoles you’ve owned, and your Gamerscore. I’ve been saying for ages, my Gamerscore belongs in a museum.

You can find it all at museum.xbox.com here , which you can either tour around or sign-in to get all the extras like your own play history.

Other Xbox 20th celebration events have included a special edition controller , a special Xbox Stereo Headset, and the reveal of a documentary on the console’s legacy . A bunch of classic Microsoft art and throwbacks went into the Master Chief Collection too. Oh, and Halo Infinite multiplayer shadow-dropped . That’s a pretty good anniversary gift, I’d say.

Revisit your xbox gaming stats in microsoft's virtual museum.

Take a trip down memory lane with Microsoft's cool new Xbox virtual museum.

Who doesn't love a nice trip down memory lane ? You can do just that with Microsoft's interesting new virtual Xbox museum . Not only does it take you through Xbox's history, but it'll also let you revisit your own gaming stats and accomplishments.

Related: 6 Things to Do With Your Old PS4, Xbox, or Other Console

While a lot of the museum is focused on the good stuff , Microsoft isn't afraid to remind us of some of the less pleasant parts of Xbox's history. For example, the museum mentions the Xbox 360 red ring of death debacle and Microsoft's failed attempt to buy Nintendo. A lot has happened in the last 20 years in the world of Xbox, and this museum will remind you of most of it.

In total, there are 132 moments in the museum, so there's a lot to see. Whether you were lined up on day one to take home an original Xbox or an Xbox Series X is your first foray into Xbox gaming, you'll find some enjoyment from this experience.

As cool as it is to explore a virtual museum, where things get neat is the personal portion of the experience. You can take a look back at your Xbox stats over the years. You can see which games you played first on Xbox consoles , the total number of games you've played, and so on. For example, I've played 302 games across Xbox consoles, and I played Destiny 2 more than any other game.

Even more remarkable, you don't need to use an Xbox console to try walking around the virtual museum. You can do it by simply visiting museum.xbox.com in your web browser. You can sign in to get access to the personalized experience, or you can meander around without signing in to see Xbox's history.

To celebrate Xbox’s 20th anniversary, Microsoft is taking fans on a journey through its history.

Microsft launched today the Xbox Museum , where players can check out the history on their Xbox Live account. This includes multiple generations of Xbox consoles if the same Live account was used.

There is plenty of exploring within this virtual world, but one of the most intriguing is a record of the most-played titles in your Xbox history. If you’ve been with Xbox for a long time, you’ve probably spent countless hours in a variety of different games. And this may mean you have lost track of which games you actually played the most.

To check out your gaming history first head to museum.xbox.com , where you’ll find the 20th Anniversary metaverse experience. Once you’re at the website, log in to the Microsoft account that you’ve used during your time gaming on Xbox 360, Xbox One, or Xbox Series X/S console.

Once you’ve logged into the service, you’ll see a bunch of consoles on a desk, along with a Master Chief figure and a Trophy. Press the Trophy and you’ll be transported to the Xbox Museum.

Once here, you’ll have the ability to control your avatar walking around and viewing your history in Xbox gaming. Walking around this museum you’ll see your most played games on each console, along with a ton of other information that you might not have been aware of within your Xbox history.

Xbox has launched a number of elaborate celebrations to mark the 20th anniversary of its original console release (15 November 2001).

Alongside the early debut of Halo Infinite ’s multiplayer mode, Xbox players were treated this week to a special “anniversary museum”, giving them insight into their personal gaming history.

The museum has been compared to Spotify’s end-of-year review Spotify Wrapped, offering users a statistical breakdown of their gaming history.

Here’s how to access the anniversary museum and find your personal statistics.

You can access the virtual museum by visiting this website , at which point you’ll be prompted to log in to your Xbox account.

You can explore most of the museum using a virtual avatar without logging in – taking in a number of 3D-rendered displays about the history of Xbox.

If you are logged into your account, however, there is an additional section which lists some of your achievements, such as your total cumulative number Gamerscore, and the rarest achievement you’ve earned.

Players are given the option to share the results with friends and followers.

Fukushima fossil museum marks 40 years of unearthing history

A reconstructed skeleton of Futabasaurus suzukii (top) and its fossil's replica are displayed at the Iwaki City Coal and Fossil Museum (Horuru) in Fukushima Prefecture.

The Iwaki City Coal and Fossil Museum (Horuru) in Fukushima Prefecture is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary in October. Known as a "treasure house" for fossils, the museum showcases numerous ancient fossils and offers educational and fun experiences for families.

"I was deeply moved by the discovery, as it overturned the common belief that dinosaur and elasmosaurus fossils could not be found in Japan," Suzuki, now 72, recalled.

The excavation of the almost complete dinosaur body was challenging and expensive, involving mining permissions as some body parts were buried under a prefectural road. It took Suzuki seven years to complete the excavation with the support of local companies and specialists who he studied under.

The fossil, estimated to be 6 to 9 meters long and from a stratum about 85 million years old, led to a nationwide excavation boom and was even featured in a movie from the popular Doraemon series.

Recognized in 2006 as a new species, it was named Futabasaurus suzukii, becoming a globally significant fossil.

Since 1992, the museum has had a facility that allows visitors to dig for fossils, an activity that attracts families from within and outside the prefecture every weekend.

Following the fossil’s discovery, the Iwaki City government opened the museum in October 1984. It has since attracted about 6 million people, who come to see the Futabasaurus replica and its reconstructed skeleton.

In 1992, the museum expanded to include a facility where visitors can dig for fossils, which attracts families from within and outside the prefecture every weekend.

A 31-year-old housewife from Iwaki who visited the museum with her children in April, said, “We enjoyed the fossils and large skeletal specimens that we could actually touch.”

A 6-year-old boy from the city of Inzai, Chiba Prefecture, also expressed his delight. “It was fun to break rocks and look for fossils by myself. I want to decorate my house with the fossils I dug up,” he said.

Reflecting on the children who are interested in digging for fossils, Suzuki said, “It's fascinating to explore on your own feet and find new things. I hope they will be interested in all kinds of things and pursue their interests.
