Eiyuden Chronicle: 7 Best Party Members For Endless Mode
New pokemon scarlet and violet limited-time distribution announced, 7 open-world games with the best reactive world events.
Lighting a candle at a memorial might not be the most important mission in Dying Light 2 , but it would be hard to say that any mission has more implications about the setting. The lore-hungry fans of the game will get to find out the history of Villedor; or, at least, one version of that history.
RELATED: Dying Light 2: How To Beat The Runner In Double Time
Before the quest is completed, though, gamers will have to sweep the area and try to piece together some evidence that talks about the massacre. The professor will fill in some of the gaps, but Dying Light 2 enthusiasts will need to decide from themselves how much they believe him.
First Piece Of Evidence
The first piece of evidence is directly in front of the memorial on the left side. It's a smaller brass plaque embedded in the marble that contains an extremely brief synopsis of the March Massacre. The professor will fill Aiden in on some extra details that he's trying to preserve.
RELATED: Dying Light 2: How To Defeat The GRE Anomaly C-A-22
This is not a safe zone, so before conducting the investigation, it could be prudent to attack any threats for some quick combat experience points . Nobody needs to be getting attacked while they are studying history, battle and education are a tough combination to balance.
Second Piece Of Evidence
There are great times to get some fast parkour experience but this will not be one of those times. The second piece of evidence is on the same slab of marble as the first, just closer to the right side when facing the memorial structure.
RELATED: Dying Light 2: How to Capture the Birch Windmill
There are a few brass plates with names, but Aiden should look at the third and final plate to see the investigate icon pop up. Once again, there will be a discussion about what happened that day and who passed away between Aiden and the professor.
Third Piece of Evidence
The last piece of evidence is the toughest since it's just outside of the memorial square. From the plaque used for the second piece of evidence, look directly to the right and notice a tree with a magnifying glass icon on it. Head around to the back and spot the bullet holes.
True to the formula, Aiden and the professor will have a lively question and answer session about the events of that day. Afterward, players can finally light the candle to honor the victims. Doing so will complete the quest.
Dying Light 2 was released on February 4th, 2022, and is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC.

How to complete The History Lesson in Dying Light 2 Stay Human
The History Lesson is one of the side quests you can pick up from a safehouse in Dying Light 2 Stay Human . A teacher talking to his pupils about the March Massacre in Villedor tasks Aiden with visiting the location to light a candle. After all, it’s not safe for children. However, this quest is far from straightforward, which is why we’ve put together a guide for it.
Step 1: Get to the memorial and investigate the plaques
![a history lesson dying light 2 step-1-get-to-the-memorial-and-investigate-the-plaques-dying-light-2-stay-human](https://www.gamepur.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/step-1-get-to-the-memorial-and-investigate-the-plaques-dying-light-2-stay-human.jpg)
Follow the quest marker, and you’ll eventually arrive at the memorial. It’s a pretty depressing place, so get to the plaques in front of the memorial and investigate them quickly to avoid being here longer than necessary.
Step 2: Investigate the tree and light the candle
![a history lesson dying light 2 step-2-investigate-the-tree-and-light-the-candle-dying-light-2-stay-human](https://www.gamepur.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/step-2-investigate-the-tree-and-light-the-candle-dying-light-2-stay-human.jpg)
The third area you must investigate is the tree to the right of the memorial. There’s no way you’d know to do this without walking around the area and looking at everything inside of it. The clue is meant to be the gunshots in the tree, but we missed these for a long time before finally seeing them.
After that, you need to go to the memorial again and light the candle that the student wanted to leave there. When you’ve done that, you’ll have learned why Villedor has no guns, and you’ll get a Survivor’s Trinket as a reward.

The Dying Light 2 History Lesson quest is one of the easiest side missions in the game and is a good way of earning some experience early in the game. Dying Light 2 comes with a litany of different quests, which range from fetch quests, combat, exploration, and much more. History Lesson is a pretty simple exploration quest that sees you learning more about the past of Villedor, but some of the quest objectives aren't massively obvious. That's why we've created a breakdown of how to finish the Dying Light 2 History Lesson quest.

The Dying Light 2 History Lesson quest can be found in the Rooftop School safehouse in the Trinity territory of Old Villedor. Inside the building, a teacher is giving a lesson to some children on the history of Villedor, and one of them wants to light a candle to commemorate the March Massacre which occurred during the beginning of the apocalypse. Obviously, they can't go, but the teacher asks you to go in their stead, giving you a chance to learn some history along the way.

Once you arrive at the square in Houndfield, you will need to clear the immediate area of some infected, before investigating the memorial. Interacting with the memorial directly will trigger Henkel the teacher to contact you and inform you what it's all about. The next section is what players struggle with, as you have to interact with a random tree to the right of the memorial. It's denoted by the bullet marks on the wood, and once you have found it, Henkel will instruct you to light the candle. Once you have done so, the mission will be over, with no need to return to the school.
That's our breakdown of how to finish the Dying Light 2 History Lesson quest, including where it begins and how to explore the square to complete all the objectives.

Dying Light 2: The History Lesson Guide – Where to Investigate the Square
![a history lesson dying light 2 Image of Diego Perez](https://attackofthefanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/03/alzho-7h6c0-32x32.jpg)
The History Lesson is an early side quest in Dying Light 2 that tells players to investigate the square, but many players are having trouble figuring out what exactly they’re supposed to investigate. The quest itself is quite simple on paper. The quest giver sends you to a local memorial to learn about some of Villedor’s history, but you have to interact with certain parts of the memorial in order to proceed with the quest. A few of them are quite obvious, but there’s one in particular that’s hidden really well. Here’s how to investigate the square in The History Lesson quest in Dying Light 2 .
Where to Investigate the Square in Dying Light 2
To see what you need to investigate, hold R3 to activate your Survivor Sense. This will highlight all clues in red, making them much easier to see. The first thing you need to investigate is the plaque in front of the monument itself. This will trigger a short bit of dialogue, but it’s not enough to finish the quest. The next thing you need to investigate can be very hard to see, but it’s actually not too far away.
![Dying Light 2: The History Lesson Guide - Where to Investigate the Square Dying-Light-2-The-History-Lesson-Investigate-the-Square](https://attackofthefanboy.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/01/Dying-Light-2-The-History-Lesson-Investigate-the-Square.jpg)
The other investigation point is a tree that is located a short distance to the right of the monument. You’re looking for marks left on the tree from the incident. It’s a strange thing to require players to investigate, but once you’ve taken a look at it, that should be all you need for this quest.
Dying Light 2 has plenty of other quests like this where it will drop you into a search zone and force you to find everything on your own without any objective markers. If you ever find yourself stuck in a quest like this one, just rely on your Survivor Sense and make sure you check every little thing in the search area.
Dying Light 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. A Nintendo Switch version of the game will be released later this year.

Walkthrough
At a Rooftop School in southwestern Trinity , a teacher by the name of Henkel is teaching his class. He was teaching about when the military seized the firearms of the citizens, and what happened afterwards. In light of this, the student wanted to light a candle on the site of the March Massacre . Henkel asks if Aiden can light the candle in his stead because the children are not allowed to walk around the Bazaar on their own.
The site is located in eastern Houndfield , to the northeast of the chemicals north of the Houndfield Electrical Station . Upon arrival, Henkel asks Aiden to look closely due to its poor condition, so investigate the area. There are two plaques in front of the monument, one with the names of the victims of the massacre, the other detailing the event in question, with Henkel providing even more insights. Another site to be investigated is a nearby tree, which still carries bullet holes from when the riots were crushed.
After investigating all three sites, light the candle at the plaques of the monument to complete the quest.

Dying Light 2 History Lesson is a side quest players can complete from an NPC in the Trinity territory. This quest tasks players with investigating the nearby square. Investigating this location will reward you with a decent weapon for your efforts. To learn how to complete this side quest see HTR’s Dying Light 2 History Lesson guide below.
Where to Start History Lesson Side Quest
The History Lesson side quest is located in the territory of Trinity. Head to the southwest edge and go to the Rooftop School Settlement. Inside this building you will encounter a history teacher named Henkel. Speak to Henkel to receive the request to light candles in the memorial square. This starts the side quest History Lesson.
Investigate Memorial Square
![a history lesson dying light 2](https://cdn.holdtoreset.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/05131928/dying-light-2-investigate-the-square1-750x422.jpg)
Leave the school and head to the southeast into Houndfield. At the map marker you will find Memorial Square. At the square Henkel your objective will update and you will need to investigate the memorial site. This part has two steps:
- Use Survivor Sense to highlight two interactable plaques on the memorial. Interact with them both.
- Investigate the tree to the west of the memorial. Use survivor sense to highlight it.
Once both spots have been investigated you learn what happened here. You will then get an objective to light a candle on the memorial. Light the candle at the spot marked. After the candle is lit you will complete the request and will receive your reward of the Survivor’s Trinket.

How to complete The History Lesson side quest in Dying Light 2
![a history lesson dying light 2 Image of Jalen Lopez](https://dotesports.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/26095001/Jalen-Lopez.png)
Dying Light 2 Stay Human has dozens of side quests scattered throughout its large map that help build the lore of the devastated world. Some are simple fetch quests requiring you to bring a specific item to a person for a reward, while others require you to make tough life-or-death choices. The side quests also provide decent loot and experience, so don’t overlook them as you progress through the story.
One of the first side quests you’ll likely encounter is The History Lesson, which can be found in the Rooftop School in the Trinity territory. A student wants to light a candle at a nearby location to commemorate the March Massacre but can’t do it themself. You’ll be given a candle and tasked with lighting it, learning a history lesson along the way.
The square will have a few zombies wandering around, which you’ll have to eliminate or lure away. After taking care of the ghoul problem, investigate the memorial to get a message from Henkel, the history teacher. You’ll have to investigate a nearby tree for another message, and after doing so, Henkel will instruct you to light the candle at the memorial. This will complete the mission, and there is no need to return to the school.
This quest is simple and easy to complete at early levels, so make sure to complete it for easy XP. It also provides background on the city you’re exploring and can help immerse you into the Dying Light 2 experience.

Dying Light 2 History Quiz Side Quest Answers
The History Quiz sidequest asks you to answer three questions regarding the historical events key to Dying Light 2 and the larger DL universe. Two of these are about the events of the game as they pertain to Villedor, while one pertains to the original Dying Light . If you’re wondering what the answers are, we’ve got you covered.
You’ll find the History Quiz sidequest in northeastern Garrison, roughly 135 meters south of the Fish Eye. It shouldn’t be confused with the History Lesson side quest located in southwestern Trinity, which is completely different.

When you arrive at the location, a Survivor Rooftop School in my game, you’ll meet a fellow named Jax. Just like Albert and Thalia on the PK Floating Fortress in The Wharf, he’s compelled to preserve history, but instead of books, he’s interested in safeguarding world and local history.
He’ll ask you three questions, all of which you must answer correctly to get the Catacombs Memento collectible and 400 Old-World Money.
The answers to Jax’s questions are as follows:
- Answer 1 : The chemical bombings of 2025.
- Answer 2 : The army killed 64 civilians protesting against disarming them.
- Answer 3 : Spring 2014.
Those are the answers to all three questions asked by Jax (the historian) during the History Quiz side quest in Dying Light 2 . If you’re looking for other tips, walkthroughs, and guides, we have a whole stack of articles to help you stay human .

You will start the quest after talking to history teacher in the southwest part of the Trinity territory. He’ll send you to the memorial square to light a candle.
