  • Make a generic application available to applicants to download, fill out and email back, print and return physically, or print it out yourself and hand it to potential applicants.
  • If you’re using job posting sites to advertise your job, allow the candidates to do everything electronically, via download and email.
  • Compare the answers you receive on the generic job application directly to your job description, to be sure that applicants meet your needs.
  • Scan completed applications quickly to make sure they’re filled out, and that candidates meet the essential requirements.
  • Compare your favorites side-by-side before deciding who to interview.
  • Be sure to keep good applications on file, even if you can’t hire the applicant right away - it’s always good to have a group of potential employees for a hiring emergency.

What needs to be on a job application form?

A basic job application form should include the applicant's name, contact information, the position they are applying for, education, work history , and a place for them to sign and date the form. If you need applicants to work particular shifts, ask for availability too.

How do I write a job application form?

Unless you've got some very specific questions that need to be answered during the initial application process, you should be fine using a generic application for employment template. If need be, you should be able to edit any sample employment application we've provided in Word.

When should I use a job application form?

  • When you want application forms that are standardized and easy to compare.
  • When you want something that is easy to scan.
  • If you want to make the application process easier.
  • If you need to get information people don’t usually put on resumes.
  • If you want applicants to sign and attest that the information provided is accurate.

Why should I use a job application form?

Standardization is one of the main advantages of employee application forms. If you give the same application to everyone who applies for the job, it creates a very fair process for applicants and gives you a way to compare them side-by-side.

  • Job application forms are easier to review than resumes and CVs, saving you time.
  • Application forms are ideal for companies that require large-scale hiring.
  • Allows you to get important information that applicants wouldn't normally share in a resume or CV.
  • Allows you to ask for information that will help you make decisions and research applicants.
  • You can ask if they’re willing to submit to a drug test, and, in most cities and states, you can ask about previous criminal history .

Do employers need to use application forms when hiring?

They're not necessary and many companies opt for CVs or resumes instead. They are, however, a good way to take in a lot of information about employees in a standardized format.

Can employees fill out the job application on their computer?

Yes, all the applications we've provided can be filled out using a computer.

Is it appropriate to use a general job application with management hires?

It depends on the management job. In some industries, like retail, filling out a generic application for employment is normal at many levels. Generally, though, you can accept resumes or CVs for positions like this, and give applicants a form to fill out that supplies the information you need from an application later in the process.

What types of questions are on a job application?

Aside from general questions about location, employment history, and education, a job application can contain questions specific to the role that the applicant is applying for, e.g., specific skills, availability for shift work, desired salary, and extracurricular activities.

What Is the Purpose of an Employment Application?

The purpose of an employment application is to collect the necessary and legally requestable information, to the extent that the employer needs to track, respond to, and manage each job applicant. A signed application form provides the employer with additional legal verification that the information supplied by the applicant is accurate. The form also confirms that the applicant is submitting it for employment purposes.

This form is used to collect necessary information about candidates applying for a job, but it is more than a tool to organize and track applicants: It often becomes the candidate’s first impression of an organization. In an age of data protection laws and heightened awareness around ethical hiring practices, this is especially important. Additionally, the employment application form should be formatted to include information that job seekers wouldn’t necessarily include on their resume. Because applicants spend time updating and perfecting their resume, an employment application form that asks for this information without providing the necessary context might frustrate the best candidates — to the point of not applying at all.

Why Should You Update Your Application Form?

The decision to update an employment application form comes down to asking a few essential questions about your current document and application process:

  • Is there a standardized employment application form that your company, business, or team uses in the hiring process, or are there specialized (or outdated forms) that different departments, locations, states, etc. use?
  • Is the current employment application form used for high-volume, large-scale hiring processes in industries like retail, hospitality, or restaurants?
  • Is the information requested in the employment application form up to date with your current hiring process? For example, do you collect the necessary information for your tracking software?
  • Does your current employment application form comply with your state and federal employment and data protection laws?
  • Is the information you request on the employment application form necessary to offer an interview, reject a candidate, or make a job offer? For example, do you prefer to review the candidate’s employment history on a resume, where they can elaborate in detail?
  • Do you prefer a multi-stage application process that initially collects only basic contact information?
  • Do you require an applicant’s signature on the application in order to obtain their legal consent because a resume cannot provide such an agreement?

Use these questions to determine your reasons for updating the employment application. Decide what to add or delete from your employment application based on your state laws, and on the information you deem necessary to your hiring process. Seek legal advice and counsel if you are unsure of the laws that govern your use of employment application data. For more information on U.S. employment practices, visit the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) website, or contact an attorney.

The Essential Elements of Employment Application Forms

The content found on employment application forms varies according to a range of factors including company policy, industry type, legal regulation, employer location, etc. Decide on the different elements to include in the employment application form, but make sure the form always provides a snapshot of the applicant. Relying on resumes alone to help you differentiate among applicant credentials is not a quick or efficient method to track candidates or organize the hiring process. The sections and type of information commonly requested on standard employment application forms include the following:

  • Instructions: This includes the mandatory information the applicant must complete to be considered for a position. For example, this could be a notice to complete the application in its entirety or an instruction to disregard requested information if it is included on an attached resume.
  • Personal Information: This includes the applicant’s legal name, preferred name, and contact information. This section comprises subsections to collect information, such as mailing address, date of birth, phone number, and email address.
  • Position: This includes information requested about the specific job the applicant is applying for, available start dates, desired compensation, etc.
  • Education: The information collected in this section varies, but often includes the school name, type of degree(s) obtained, area of study, and graduation dates. In this section, you might request information on specific licenses or certifications that the employer requires or prefers.
  • Employment History: This section includes the name of the employer, the supervisor contact information, the address, the dates employed, the job title, a summary of the job, details on the skills used or qualifications obtained, and the reason for leaving.
  • References: This includes contact information and the nature of the relationship (e.g., professional or character reference, colleague or supervisor, etc.). It is common for employers to leave this information off of the employment application form and ask for the information at the interview phase of the hiring process.
  • Signature: For legal purposes, employers might prefer that the applicant sign the application to attest to its accuracy.
  • Legal Disclaimers: This includes employment law and regulation information, such as equal opportunity employer (EEO) statements, criminal conviction inquiries, voluntary questions regarding affirmative action requests, military or veteran status, disability accommodations, and “at will” employment disclaimers (for example, “application does not guarantee employment”).
  • Additional Information: This includes information requests and questions used to screen the applicants. You might ask the applicant to describe the professional skills that qualify them for the job, probe with behavioral questions to determine problem-solving aptitude and screen for culture fit (i.e., “describe a time when...”), or request information designed to produce a first impression about your company's culture.

It is also essential to understand what not to include on the employment application form. The employment application form is a professional business document void of jargon, vague information, or opinion. Employment regulations protect the employer and the applicant's legal rights. Avoid eliciting the following information on your employment application form without first consulting legal counsel and checking existing federal laws, state laws, or employment regulations:

  • Marital and family status
  • Citizenship or visa status
  • Religious affiliation
  • Sexual orientation
  • Gender identification
  • Age identification questions
  • Schedule availability
  • Creditworthiness or financial status
  • Physical information, such as height, weight, or general statements on physical requirements
  • Medical conditions, disability-related questions, or reasonable accommodation statements
  • Non-discrimination statements
  • Graduation dates (in the education section)
  • Criminal arrests and convictions
  • Background check information or consent
  • Photo requests

Review the information you request on the form and determine what is essential for your specific hiring process, based on the applicant’s merit and the job requirements. Seek legal counsel or work with professional documentation consultants, and check local and state laws that prohibit the collection of certain personal data or questions that violate employment law (e.g., date of birth, social security number, questions that inadvertently discriminate, etc.) if you are unsure of what to include or exclude on the form.

Tips for Using the Two-Stage Employment Application Process

In a two-stage employment application process, the employer gathers information from applicants in two phases. Instead of using a single form (sometimes multiple pages long) to collect all of the information required to make a hiring decision, the applicant provides basic contact information on the online application form. In the case of companies like Netflix , the applicant can apply by simply using their LinkedIn profile and uploading a resume. The next phase of the hiring process involves gathering the additional documentation, including the appropriate legal consent, a request for references, or any other information required to form the employment relationship.

Streamline your hiring process and make it easier to track and contact candidates with a simplified two-stage job application form. To get the most out the process, consider the following tips:

  • For the first stage, use a generic application form that requests minimal information (no longer than half a page).
  • Use a standardized format that is easy to download, save, fill out, email, and print.
  • Make online forms mobile-friendly.
  • Include a section to upload a resume on online forms.
  • Only elicit candidate information that is essential to track or contact the applicant. Use the next stage to gather additional information and consent.
  • Store contact information and track strong candidates for future recruiting efforts.
  • Ask for information that is easy to compare across the candidate pool.
  • Design the form so it is easy to scan quickly.

You can streamline the process and ensure consistency by using an employment application template. In the next section, you’ll find a variety of free, downloadable template to help you jumpstart your hiring efforts.

job application template

A job application lets you efficiently search for suitable candidates to interview and hire at your place of business. You can distribute a blank form to each prospective employee, allowing each candidate to provide their personal information to help you decide who to hire.

This document places potential employees on an even playing field. Each completed form features the requested information in the same place, allowing you, as the hiring manager or human resources (HR) employee, to wade through applications quickly and efficiently, especially when looking for specific skills or education that can enhance your business.

Common Types of Job Applications

How to create a job application form, benefits of creating a job application form, sample job application form, frequently asked questions, in-person job application.

A prospective candidate can visit the physical address of your place of business and fill out a paper job application you provide. They are less common than online applications but may still be used by some employers, particularly for in-person job fairs or as an alternative for individuals without internet access.

Online Job Application

Online job applications are submitted electronically through the company’s website or job search platforms. It is often allowed for the submission of resumes, cover letters, and other supporting documents in various file formats.

Depending on the platform, candidates may be able to create an account within a few seconds, allowing them to easily create a connection to your company.

Email Job Application

Email job applications involve sending application materials (resume, cover letter, etc.) directly to the employer’s designated email address.

Here are some sections to include in an employment application:

1. Employer Information

The employer fills out this section with the company’s name and the hiring manager’s contact information. They can also include a statement about being an Equal Opportunity Employer to encourage more applicants.

The employer can fill out this section in advance and print out several dozen or hundreds of copies, depending on their hiring needs. Then, they can distribute the applications to potential candidates so the candidates already have the employer information.

2. Applicant Information

Within this section, the applicant starts providing their information. They provide their legal name, residential address, and contact information. They can also specify the date they’re applying.

An applicant can also add their emergency contact information so the employer knows who to contact in case the applicant experiences a medical or workplace emergency.

3. Employment Position

Here, the applicant can specify the position to which they’re applying. They can also state their preferred employment type and salary. As an employer, you can filter out candidates by focusing on ones who respond according to the company’s needs.

4. Eligibility for Employment

This section addresses whether a potential employee is legally eligible to work in the United States. It also addresses whether an applicant can work overtime and night shifts and has reliable transportation to work.

Ensure that you only request this information for practical purposes. Don’t design your questions in a way that elicits discriminatory information. For example, refrain from asking questions that have a candidate reveal their age, race, sexual orientation, citizenship, disability status, or criminal history.

5. Education Details

This section includes spaces for applicants to list high school, university, or college degrees, training in other educational facilities, or specific online courses they’ve completed.

6. Employment History

Ask for an applicant’s job history in this section. For each prior position, request the name of their previous employer, their job title, and the responsibilities and duties they had. You can also see how long they held specific positions, which can help you assess their likelihood to remain in one position for the long term.

Have them list their current employment status. If they currently have a job, request the start date and their current duties.

Let them tell you about any military service they’ve completed, including the branch, the years they served, and any specialized skills or training they acquired.

7. Skills Information

Leave blank spaces for applicants to list hard and soft skills. They can self-assign the proficiency they have in each skill, whether it be Low , Medium , or High .

8. References

Allow applicants to list personal and professional references which attest to their character and work ethic. Create spaces for them to put their references’ contact information and their relationship to the reference.

Depending on the type of job the candidate seeks, the employer may request a more in-depth reference letter .

9. Certifying Statement and Signature

Include a statement that certifies all the information is accurate to the applicant’s knowledge. Create a spot for the applicant to date and sign their name, allowing you to interpret the application as a valid submission of precise information .

  • Standardization: Job application forms standardize the application process, allowing all candidates to provide the same information about themselves. With this level of standardization, employers can compare applicants on a consistent scale.
  • Efficiency: A standardized form lets HR departments read applications quickly and pinpoint qualified candidates, leading to a quicker hiring process.
  • Customization: Depending on the employer’s job requirements, you can create a tailored application to include questions specific to the industry or job role.
  • Reduced Bias: Because of the standardization that job application forms provide, employers can reduce unconscious bias in the initial screening phase. They can review job applicants by focusing on their experiences and qualifications relevant to the job instead of irrelevant personal information.
  • Professional Image: A well-thought-out job application form can help a company display a professional image, showing their commitment to finding the right candidates.
  • Legal Compliance: Employers can write job application forms to comply with employment regulations and laws, ensuring employers don’t request prohibited information (such as race, gender, and age) that could result in discrimination.
  • Enhanced Candidate Experience: A simple, easy-to-complete application form can improve the experience candidates have when applying, ensuring they provide the required information for the employer to consider them.
  • Data Collection for Future Positions: If employers use an online application platform, they can collect information from current candidates and store it to analyze for future hiring needs.

What Should I Do If I Get Many Applications?

Consider including a non-negotiable yes or no question to help you rapidly separate the applicants.

For example, imagine your workplace prioritizes in-person interaction. You may include a question like “Are you willing to come into the office three days a week?” on the job application form. If a candidate answers no, you can dismiss their application and continue searching for someone who meets this criteria.

What If an Applicant Has a Resume?

Even if an applicant has a resume, they should still fill out an employment application to ensure they provide all the requested information. A resume can enhance a job application, so a candidate can attach it to the main document.

What Should I Include in a Job Description?

Create a detailed job description so candidates know whether to apply. Include the following information in your job description:

  • The name of the position
  • The job location (in-person, remote, hybrid, etc.)
  • The job type (seasonal, part-time, full-time, etc.)
  • The job requirements (minimum skills/education)
  • The job duties
  • The benefits and salary range

Should I Request a Cover Letter with the Job Application?

Requesting a cover letter with the job application is optional, but it can be a beneficial tool in the recruitment process. Candidates who write cover letters can provide insight into their communication skills, show their interest in the position, and go into more detail when describing specific achievements.

What Questions Should I Ask in an Interview?

Ask interview questions that relate to the candidate’s job application. For example, you can ask them to describe the skills they implemented in a former position and how they plan to apply them if they receive the new position.

If you need additional ideas, some common interview questions include:

  • Why do you want to work for this organization?
  • Do you prefer working by yourself or with a team?
  • What’s your biggest strength?
  • What’s your biggest weakness?
  • How do you deal with stress?
  • Where do you see yourself in five years?

Frequently Asked Questions

Hiring for a job opening can be a stressful process, especially in today’s market. Roughly 250 people apply to the average corporate position, so you need to make sure your hiring process is streamlined to narrow the applicant pool quickly and efficiently.

First, you need to create a strong job description that includes the following information:

  • Name of position.
  • Job type. Is it part-time or full-time?
  • Job location. Where is your office? Is the position onsite, remote, or hybrid?
  • Job requirements. What types of skills does the applicant need in order to be considered for the role (e.g., education, physical requirements, years of relevant experience, etc.)?
  • Job expectations/responsibilities. What will the employee be expected to do on a daily basis?
  • Salary range.

At the end of the job description, provide a clickable link or button for job candidates to access your company’s job application form and throw their hats in the ring.

1) Why is a proper job application form crucial?

Without a proper job application form — one that’s well organized and collects necessary information about candidates’ interest, skills, and background — you’ll waste a lot of time.

You’ll be forced to cull through scattered candidate data (work experience, job references, specific skill sets, etc.) and a seemingly endless list of applicants (most of whom are wrong for the position), resulting in a delayed (or ineffectual) hiring process. You’ll lose money too. After all, the longer it takes for you to find the right person, the less work you can take on.

Proper job application forms help keep the hiring process on track. Once job candidates complete and submit the application form, you’ll have immediate access to their information and can begin narrowing down your interview list.

2) Should you include a background check on your job application form?

The short answer? Yes.

Failed drug tests, internal retail thefts, and lies on resumes are more common than you’d think, so it’s important to do your due diligence and learn about your candidate’s history before getting too far into the hiring process. Background checks help protect your company’s assets and the safety of your existing employees.

That said, not every job requires an in-depth background check (unless you’re hiring for high-level government jobs or the like). Extensive background checks can be costly and time-consuming, so sometimes a simple one can do the trick and provide the information you need.

Typical background checks can cover a potential employee’s criminal record, employment verification (did they really work where they said they did?), and credit, including late payments and liens.

But if you work in healthcare or education, for example, you may want to consider more comprehensive background screenings like Office of Inspector General (OIG) background checks and sex offender registry checks .

Not only can these checks greatly impact your hiring process, but they can also help you avoid penalties and fees. In fact, if your applicant’s name shows up on the OIG background check, and you were unaware — that is, you never conducted this check — you could be found liable in negligent hiring lawsuits .

3) How to write a job application form?

The best job application forms are professional and on brand (e.g., include your company’s logo at the top, company colors, etc.). They should also be convenient to access as well as clear, concise, and organized.

There should be a natural flow to job application forms (starting with the applicant’s name, for example), and there should never be a doubt as to what information you’re asking for or why you’re asking for it. (Pro tip: To prevent any form of discrimination lawsuit , avoid asking questions that would reveal an applicant’s age, race, disability, and religion.)

While job application forms vary from organization to organization and position to position, they often include many of the following fillable form fields.

Contact information

You need to know the applicant’s basic contact information — like name, mailing address, phone number, and email address — so that you can follow up with them regarding the position.

Screenshot of a basic contact information form, including fields for name, birth date, phone number, email address, and address.

Knowing when and where they graduated from high school, college, and/or graduate school can tell you if candidates are a) well qualified for the posted position and b) able to follow instructions.

Say, for instance, your job posting specifies that the position requires an MBA, but the applicant only graduated from high school. You can safely assume that they either didn’t read the description carefully enough or think they have what it takes to do the job effectively regardless.

While confidence is an admirable quality in any job prospect, it may not work in their favor in this case. Bottom line: This one form field can save you both time and stress in the hiring process and help you quickly identify potential fits.

Work history

Though a work history section is less critical for entry-level positions (it may be fairly light or full of less relevant positions), it’s essential for C-suite or managerial roles. Employment history form fields provide valuable insight into candidates’ prior job titles and responsibilities — including when they held them and for how long — so you can get a clearer understanding of whether they’ll be a good fit for your organization.

Professional references

While it’s not necessary to include a field for professional references in your job application forms — especially for entry-level positions — it can be particularly helpful near the end of the hiring process.

If you’ve read and reread some of your candidates’ applications, resumes, and interview notes a million times and are struggling to pick one, contact their listed references. Asking their former colleagues a few questions about their skill set, work ethic, and work experience can ultimately help you make a hiring decision.

Upload resume

Place an “upload resume” and/or “upload cover letter” button somewhere near the end of the job application form, typically right before the submit button. A resume gives you a firsthand look at a candidate’s organizational, spelling, and grammar skills as well as additional information about their work or education history you may not have captured otherwise.

Submit button

At the very end of the job application form, it’s important to have a large, bold, clickable “submit” or “send application” button. Once the applicant hits that button, they’ll know their application is on its way to you.

Optional inclusions

These three honorable mentions have a place in job application forms but are by no means necessary:

Job skills and training

Though many employers combine “Job skills and training” with “Work history,” this can serve as a standalone section or subsection if you’d like your candidate to note any specialized skills or certifications.

Availability

Including an availability section in your job application form — especially if you work in the hospitality, retail, or food service industries — can be especially helpful if you have a sizable stack of applications. If you need primarily nights and weekends covered, for example, but an applicant can only work days, they’re probably not worth bringing in for an interview, no matter how impressive their application is.

4) How were you referred to us?

By learning how a prospective employee came across your job posting (newspaper, Twitter, Facebook, word of mouth, etc.), you can identify which advertising channels you should use more in the future, whether for other job listings or marketing campaigns.

Screenshot of checkbox options of how applicants might find out about a job posting including newspaper ad, Twitter, employee, etc.

5) Which questions should you ask in an interview?

For most workplaces, though the hiring process begins with job application forms, it doesn’t end with them. Once hiring managers review job application forms and find candidates they’re interested in, the next step is to schedule and conduct interviews.

Like job application forms, interview questions vary by company, position, and even interview phase. What you’ll ask candidates during the first round of interviews will likely differ from a final interview as questions become more niche and your pool of prospects shrinks.

That said, these 10 interview questions are common in most first-round interviews:

  • Why do you want to work for this company?
  • Why are you the right person for the role?
  • Can you tell me about a time when you had a disagreement with a fellow colleague, boss, or customer? How did you handle it?
  • Do you prefer working alone or on a team?
  • Where do you see yourself in five years?
  • What work accomplishment are you most proud of? Why? What steps did you take to get there?
  • What are your greatest strengths?
  • What are your biggest weaknesses?
  • How do you deal with high-stress situations, like tight deadlines or an unhappy customer?
  • Why are you leaving your current employer?

By asking the right questions — open-ended ones that go beyond the collected job application and resume data — you can get a better understanding of each candidate’s interest in the job, knowledge about your company, career habits and goals, and industry knowledge and skill set. Interviewing job applicants also helps you determine whether they would fit well in both the role and the overall organization.

6) What are some examples of job application forms?

Now that you know the ins and outs of job application forms — including why they’re important and what to include in them — let’s check out five starkly different use cases. This way, you can get a better idea of how to organize job application forms for your respective organization and industry to make them most effective.

Cleaning job application form

Not only does this cleaning job application form include many of the sections we referenced earlier — contact information, work history, and availability — it also has a “Your Cleaning Process” section. This section includes a picture of a dirty kitchen and asks the applicant how they would clean the room and which products they would use. It even asks an ethical question — “What would you do if there was a $20 bill laying on a table with no note?” — to help you better understand exactly who you’re hiring.

Babysitter application form

This babysitter application form — which includes four sections entitled “Personal Information,” “Contact Details,” “Education,” and “Work Experiences” — is exactly what you need to find a steady, reliable babysitter in your area.

Web developer/programmer application form

Hiring web programmers, software engineers, or other IT positions is no easy feat, especially if you work in HR or for some type of recruitment agency and aren’t especially tech savvy.

Luckily, this web developer/programmer application form has all the information you need to find the right person for the role, no matter your programming experience. In addition to collecting vital data like candidate contact information, work experience, availability, and salary expectations, this job application form also asks applicants what platforms, operating systems, and programming languages they use; helps you determine their computer skills; and collects a list of their current and recent projects, websites, and apps.

Truck driver application form

Truck drivers are not only responsible for delivering goods on time but also for operating heavy machinery safely. If not, they could endanger other motorists and pedestrians, in addition to being late with deliveries.

To help you learn more about your applicant’s work experience and whether you can rely on them, this truck driver application form includes questions like

  • Have you had any accidents in the last five years?
  • Has your license ever been suspended?
  • Have you ever had a DUI?

This job application form also asks applicants about their license expiration dates (CDL, Hazmat, TWIC, etc.) and CDL endorsements to ensure everything is current.

Teacher application form

Similar to the above-mentioned truck driver application form, a teacher application form should include more in-depth questions regarding work experience and background information (like criminal investigations or abuse charges) to ensure you hire a quality candidate.

Though comprehensive, this form is easy to complete because of its mix of open- and close-ended questions and plenty of space for applicants to provide further details about their work history.

Discovering and applying for roles at Amazon

Welcome to the first step in discovering opportunities at Amazon. We want to make sure you're prepared. To help you get started, we've provided a few of our most frequently asked questions.

Don't have any questions? Begin your search.

How do I apply?

To start, search for a job of interest . You can search by locations, business categories, job categories or keywords. Once you find one, click the "Apply Now" button next to the title of the role at the top of the page.

Then, follow the directions on your screen. Either create a new profile, or log back in if you're a returning candidate.

If you are interested in a warehouse/associate position in an Amazon Fulfillment Center, learn more about the application process here.

How do I upload or update my cover letter?

Being a peculiar company, we don't accept cover letters. Just ensure your resume is up to date and you're all set.

What if I don’t have a formal resume or CV to enter into the form?

It's recommended to have a resume or CV. If you don't have a resume, it is still okay to apply. Just be sure to fill in a brief description of your background, experience (with dates of employment), educational achievements, and skills. This information is necessary to evaluate candidates. Applications without this information will not be considered.

If you are interested in a warehouse/associate position in an Amazon Fulfillment Center, you do not need to have a resume to apply. Learn more about the application process here.

Should I send samples of my work (writing, code, designs, etc.) with my resume or CV?

If you're selected for an interview, we may request work samples. If we do, we'll let you know where you should send them. However, if public copies of your work are available for viewing online, including links on your resume is a good idea.

The position I wanted to apply for is no longer listed. Can I still apply?

We regularly post new positions and remove positions that are no longer open. We also actively remove roles that have been filled. If a job is not listed, that means we are no longer taking applications for the position at this time.

What's the status of my application?

We follow federal requirements when we review resumes and only contact candidates we'd like to learn more about. Unfortunately, we're not able to make personal contact with everyone who submits a resume. To check your status, log in to your application profile and review the roles for which you’ve applied.

Candidates for warehouse and Amazon Fulfillment Center positions can check the status of their applications here.

I already have an amazon.jobs account, so why do I need to reset my password?

We're working hard to provide the best candidate experience possible, so we've made some improvements to the sign-in experience. We want to make sure you're able to access all of our new features. Resetting your password will allow you to see the new and ongoing changes coming to amazon.jobs to make your experience great.

I have multiple email addresses associated with my applications. Can I merge my accounts?

Currently, we're unable to merge applicants' accounts. If you encounter any issues accessing your information, please submit a support request on our FAQ page and we'll do our best to help you get the information you need.

I don't have an email address. Can I create an account using my phone number?

At this time, amazon.jobs only supports sign-in using a valid email address. In the near future, however, you'll be able sign in to amazon.jobs using your phone number.

I forgot my amazon.jobs password. How do I recover it?

To recover your password, click 'Forgot password' on the sign-in screen and enter your username.

I forgot my amazon.jobs username. How do I recover it?

We recommend signing in with your current email address.

What information or features can I access with my amazon.jobs account?

With an amazon.jobs account, you can access your applicant profile, view application information, and check your application status. As amazon.jobs continues to improve and grow, we'll inform you of any new features or changes.

Do I have to upload my resume using a cloud service?

In an effort to support a more mobile-friendly experience, we've added the ability to upload your resume using cloud services. However, you still have the option to upload your resume from your device.

Can I upload a resume and use my LinkedIn profile?

Applicants can use LinkedIn as an alternative to uploading a traditional resume during profile creation. Unfortunately, we only accept one resume per applicant at this time, so please select the option that works best for you.

My application status hasn't changed. Who can I contact for an update?

Your dashboard is regularly being updated to display the most up-to-date status information relating to each application. When an application status changes, your dashboard is updated in almost real-time to reflect this new status.

When does my application move from Active to Archived?

An application is considered active as long as a final decision has not yet been made. If an applicant withdraws their application, is hired for a role, or is no longer under consideration, their application will be archived.

How can I apply to work for one of your subsidiary companies?

Most open positions with our subsidiaries are included in amazon.jobs search results. You can search and apply to them from this page on amazon.jobs.

Do you hire contractors, temporary employees, or freelancers?

Yes, we often work with temporary employment agencies for contractors, temporary employees, or freelancers.

To learn about these opportunities, contact leading employment agencies in the cities where Amazon has a presence. We do not provide listings for contractor, temporary, or freelance positions on our site.

Why do I have to make a separate application profile instead of just using my Amazon.com customer login?

We take our customers’ trust and security very seriously. To ensure our customers’ and candidates’ sensitive information is protected, our customer and candidate data are kept completely separate. This is why you need a separate profile to apply for jobs.

Can I still apply if I need a work permit?

Yes, we regularly offer assistance to eligible workers seeking work permits, however, each case is reviewed individually.

Moscow court denies house arrest request for deputy defense minister facing corruption charges

A Moscow court rejected Wednesday an appeal filed by a Russian deputy defence minister's lawyers who sought to have him moved from prison to house arrest as he faces bribery charges.

Timur Ivanov, who was in charge of military construction projects, was arrested on April 23 and charged with accepting bribes on a large scale. After the hearing in Moscow City Court, Russian news agencies quoted his attorney Murad Musayev as saying the case involved allegations of about 1 billion rubles ($11 million) and that Ivanov has been suspended from duty. Two other men have been arrested in the case.

It is rare for such a high-ranking official to be charged with a crime in Russia and it is unclear what sparked the decision to arrest him.

The team of late Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny conducted anti-corruption investigations and accused Ivanov, an ally of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, of living a lavish lifestyle.

Ivanov, 48, was sanctioned by both the United States and European Union in 2022 after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

Russian media reported that Ivanov oversaw some of the construction in Mariupol, a Ukrainian port city that was devastated by bombardment and occupied by Russian forces early in the war.

Zvezda, the official TV channel of the Russian military, reported in summer 2022 that the ministry was building an entire residential block in Mariupol and showed Ivanov inspecting construction sites and newly erected buildings.

Few other high-level officials have been prosecuted in Russia.

In April 2023, former Deputy Culture Minister Olga Yarilova was arrested and charged with embezzling more than 200 million rubles ($2.2 million). Yarilova, who held her post from 2018 to 2022, is on trial and facing a possible seven-year jail term.

Former Economics Minister Alexei Ulyukayev received an eight-year prison sentence in 2017 for accepting a $2 million bribe from one of Putin's top associates. The high-profile trial was widely seen as part of infighting between Kremlin clans. Ulyukayev, now 68, was granted early release from prison in May 2022.

  1. Free Job Application Form (standard template)

The Job Applicant, who will submit this application, will need to be identified at the beginning of this process. His or her name is expected in the standard presentation of "First," "Middle," and "Last" where requested. (2) Current Date. (3) Address. The Job Applicant's residential address must be distributed to the next area.

  2. Job Application Form

By Toni Ross, Updated Nov 23, 2023. A job application form is used to gather information from job applicants during the hiring process. This form covers essential personal data and information to help make a hiring decision. Also known as an employment application or application for employment form. Special Offer.

  3. Applications for Job Forms (With Template and Sample)

Online: Applicants complete job forms on company websites and job sites. In-person: Candidates complete a paper application form on-site or at a job fair. They should be prepared to interview afterward. Email: The applicant emails a cover letter and resume, rather than an application form, to the employer.

  4. Guidelines for Creating Job Application Forms (With Template)

The title of the form should be the same as the title of the job. Job application forms need to be descriptive but avoid including buzzwords. For example, you'd be better off using " Social Media Manager and Content Creator" than using "Facebook Rockstar.". In addition to the title, provide a description of the job.
