Bringing Free Maltese Digital Books to Malta Libraries!

university books malta

Octavo is proud to be collaborating with Malta Libraries to add Maltese-language digital books to their online catalogues for the very first time. Readers from Malta and Gozo will now gain access to hundreds of free books written by Maltese authors, which will be available to borrow and read in digital format from the 23rd of April onwards.

The islands’ network of public and national libraries, collectively known as Malta Libraries, have embraced this opportunity to add Maltese digital books to their online catalogue. This initiative aligns with their ongoing mission to encourage reading for educational and leisure purposes, while contributing to the conservation of Maltese documentary heritage.

Maltese-language books undoubtedly play a pivotal role in safeguarding the island’s national language, which contributes to the strengthening of Maltese culture and identity. As digital reading continues to gain popularity – revolutionising the way books are consumed across generations – this project marks a step in the right direction to ensure that Maltese-language books do not get left behind!

Maltese Books Turn Digital

By converting Maltese books into a digital format known as ‘oBooks’ and sharing them among members of the Malta Libraries community, works of Maltese literature will become more accessible than ever before. Octavo is making this possible through its app that carries Maltese fonts, meaning that oBooks can be created using the Maltese language.

The online catalogue, accessible through the Malta Libraries website, will feature a wide range of genres divided into two overarching categories; those suitable for adults as well as a selection of texts for readers under the age of 18.

What makes oBooks stand out?

Compared to other digital book formats, Octavo’s oBooks enable easier navigation as content is designed to be scrolled-through, similar to a web page, rather than by flipping pages. Moreover, content can be brought to life when converted to an oBook by adding in educational exercises and artistic images during the design stage.

With a wide range of customisable features, Octavo supports readers of different abilities and levels. Through the app, readers can choose the fonts and background colours that they find most comfortable to use from a selection that includes dyslexia-friendly fonts. Users can also look up words through the in-built dictionary function, as well as highlight pieces of text and leave notes within the app as they read.

Moreover, oBooks are available offline after being downloaded so that readers can access them from any location even in the absence of a Wifi connection.

How to access Maltese digital books through your Malta Libraries Card

To get access to Maltese oBooks, you first need a Malta Libraries account. New users can register for a new one through the Malta Libraries website. Once you have a library card number, you can fill in the form on the Malta Libraries website to request Maltese oBooks. To do this, go to www.maltalibraries.com and click on the icon ‘register to start borrowing oBooks in Maltese’.

N.B.: Ensure that the e-mail address used for your Malta Libraries account matches the one used for your Octavo account. (If you don’t have an Octavo account yet, you can create one for free by clicking ‘Login’ here: https://octavo.app/ .)

university books malta

Once completed, you will be added to the Malta Libraries organisation and have access to the Maltese oBooks. You can the sign in to Octavo and find your borrowed Maltese oBooks in your library!

Remuneration for Authors

Authors are also set to benefit from this collaboration through the Public Lending Rights act, a remuneration scheme introduced by the National Book Council. PLR provides a stream of revenue for authors when their books are borrowed from the Malta Libraries digital platform.

This project is being partially supported by the Covid-19 Relief Fund, issued by the National Book Council, and will last through to June 2022.

For help in setting up your account and registering for free oBooks, please contact Malta Libraries on   [email protected]  or call on +356 25983500.

My daughter needs online Maltese reading.

She is not a member of Malta libraries.

What can be done, please to have access?

Thanks Adriana

Hi Adriana!

Your daughter can benefit from all the free reading oBooks, including the Maltese Qari għal Qalbi levelled reading which is completely free.

Open the account for your daughter, since the accounts are personalised and Octavo keep the user’s progress adapted to their age. If you want more titles, just get the ones according to their age from the Octavo Store.

Happy reading!

For everyone whose relationship with mathematics is distant or broken, Jo Boaler , a professor at Stanford Graduate School of Education (GSE), has ideas for repairing it. She particularly wants young people to feel comfortable with numbers from the start – to approach the subject with playfulness and curiosity, not anxiety or dread.

“Most people have only ever experienced what I call narrow mathematics – a set of procedures they need to follow, at speed,” Boaler says. “Mathematics should be flexible, conceptual, a place where we play with ideas and make connections. If we open it up and invite more creativity, more diverse thinking, we can completely transform the experience.”

Boaler, the Nomellini and Olivier Professor of Education at the GSE, is the co-founder and faculty director of Youcubed , a Stanford research center that provides resources for math learning that has reached more than 230 million students in over 140 countries. In 2013 Boaler, a former high school math teacher, produced How to Learn Math , the first massive open online course (MOOC) on mathematics education. She leads workshops and leadership summits for teachers and administrators, and her online courses have been taken by over a million users.

In her new book, Math-ish: Finding Creativity, Diversity, and Meaning in Mathematics , Boaler argues for a broad, inclusive approach to math education, offering strategies and activities for learners at any age. We spoke with her about why creativity is an important part of mathematics, the impact of representing numbers visually and physically, and how what she calls “ishing” a math problem can help students make better sense of the answer.

What do you mean by “math-ish” thinking?

It’s a way of thinking about numbers in the real world, which are usually imprecise estimates. If someone asks how old you are, how warm it is outside, how long it takes to drive to the airport – these are generally answered with what I call “ish” numbers, and that’s very different from the way we use and learn numbers in school.

In the book I share an example of a multiple-choice question from a nationwide exam where students are asked to estimate the sum of two fractions: 12/13 + 7/8. They’re given four choices for the closest answer: 1, 2, 19, or 21. Each of the fractions in the question is very close to 1, so the answer would be 2 – but the most common answer 13-year-olds gave was 19. The second most common was 21.

I’m not surprised, because when students learn fractions, they often don’t learn to think conceptually or to consider the relationship between the numerator or denominator. They learn rules about creating common denominators and adding or subtracting the numerators, without making sense of the fraction as a whole. But stepping back and judging whether a calculation is reasonable might be the most valuable mathematical skill a person can develop.

But don’t you also risk sending the message that mathematical precision isn’t important?

I’m not saying precision isn’t important. What I’m suggesting is that we ask students to estimate before they calculate, so when they come up with a precise answer, they’ll have a real sense for whether it makes sense. This also helps students learn how to move between big-picture and focused thinking, which are two different but equally important modes of reasoning.

Some people ask me, “Isn’t ‘ishing’ just estimating?” It is, but when we ask students to estimate, they often groan, thinking it’s yet another mathematical method. But when we ask them to “ish” a number, they're more willing to offer their thinking.

Ishing helps students develop a sense for numbers and shapes. It can help soften the sharp edges in mathematics, making it easier for kids to jump in and engage. It can buffer students against the dangers of perfectionism, which we know can be a damaging mindset. I think we all need a little more ish in our lives.

You also argue that mathematics should be taught in more visual ways. What do you mean by that?

For most people, mathematics is an almost entirely symbolic, numerical experience. Any visuals are usually sterile images in a textbook, showing bisecting angles, or circles divided into slices. But the way we function in life is by developing models of things in our minds. Take a stapler: Knowing what it looks like, what it feels and sounds like, how to interact with it, how it changes things – all of that contributes to our understanding of how it works.

There’s an activity we do with middle-school students where we show them an image of a 4 x 4 x 4 cm cube made up of smaller 1 cm cubes, like a Rubik’s Cube. The larger cube is dipped into a can of blue paint, and we ask the students, if they could take apart the little cubes, how many sides would be painted blue? Sometimes we give the students sugar cubes and have them physically build a larger 4 x 4 x 4 cube. This is an activity that leads into algebraic thinking.

Some years back we were interviewing students a year after they’d done that activity in our summer camp and asked what had stayed with them. One student said, “I’m in geometry class now, and I still remember that sugar cube, what it looked like and felt like.” His class had been asked to estimate the volume of their shoes, and he said he’d imagined his shoes filled with 1 cm sugar cubes in order to solve that question. He had built a mental model of a cube.

When we learn about cubes, most of us don’t get to see and manipulate them. When we learn about square roots, we don’t take squares and look at their diagonals. We just manipulate numbers.

I wonder if people consider the physical representations more appropriate for younger kids.

That’s the thing – elementary school teachers are amazing at giving kids those experiences, but it dies out in middle school, and by high school it’s all symbolic. There’s a myth that there’s a hierarchy of sophistication where you start out with visual and physical representations and then build up to the symbolic. But so much of high-level mathematical work now is visual. Here in Silicon Valley, if you look at Tesla engineers, they're drawing, they're sketching, they're building models, and nobody says that's elementary mathematics.

There’s an example in the book where you’ve asked students how they would calculate 38 x 5 in their heads, and they come up with several different ways of arriving at the same answer. The creativity is fascinating, but wouldn’t it be easier to teach students one standard method?

A depiction of various ways to calculate 38 x 5, numerically and visually.

That narrow, rigid version of mathematics where there’s only one right approach is what most students experience, and it’s a big part of why people have such math trauma. It keeps them from realizing the full range and power of mathematics. When you only have students blindly memorizing math facts, they’re not developing number sense. They don’t learn how to use numbers flexibly in different situations. It also makes students who think differently believe there’s something wrong with them.

When we open mathematics to acknowledge the different ways a concept or problem can be viewed, we also open the subject to many more students. Mathematical diversity, to me, is a concept that includes both the value of diversity in people and the diverse ways we can see and learn mathematics. When we bring those forms of diversity together, it’s powerful. If we want to value different ways of thinking and problem-solving in the world, we need to embrace mathematical diversity.

Update on New Course Material Model, ISU Book Bundle

May 23, 2024

The launch date of the ISU Book Bundle, our new course material acquisition program is approaching. Beginning with the Fall 2024 term, students will receive all their course materials from the bookstore in a convenient package. Materials will be available on or before the first day of class and the cost of those materials will be included in their tuition for $24.75 per credit hour.

As you might receive questions from your students about how and where to get their course materials, here is information you can share on the student experience:

July 15, students will receive an email instructing them to visit their personalized course page and review their course materials.

Students must visit their page and complete the on-screen process by selecting their preferred delivery method.

Students may choose to opt out of the program if the costs are not beneficial for them.

Upon completion and selection of their delivery method, the bookstore will begin preparing a personalized package with all their course materials.

Students can receive delivery at their home, or they will receive an email notification when their order is ready for pickup at the bookstore. Digital materials will be available in Moodle.

Reading Lists

University presses aren't only publishing academic work, they're also home to poetry, fiction, and memoirs.

university books malta

There’s a common misconception that university presses only publish academic work–monographs or detailed studies of a single specialized subject or other discipline-specific scholarly books. However, university presses, while housed in universities, also publish a broad range of award-winning books for general audiences, including memoirs, essay collections, novels, short story collections, poetry collections, and hybrid, mixed-genre works.

university books malta

Even so, this category of creative work published by university presses is huge; I should start out by saying that. I have so many books by university presses that I just love on my bookshelves—both by friends and by strangers. So, this is a wildly incomplete list. To narrow the wide category that is university press books, I decided to choose books that were already on my bookshelves—books I had already read and loved, which I wanted to recommend to others. I also chose books that in some way connected to themes in my story collection, How to Make Your Mother Cry: fictions , which is being published by West Virginia University Press. Though my book is a story collection, I also think of it as genre queer: How to Make Your Mother Cry also contains poems, letters, photographs, drawings, and other ephemera. In my reading list, I looked at books across genre (story collections, poetry collections, essay collections, memoirs, and memoir-in-essays) that grapple with identity, that consider the relationships and journeys of women and girls, and books that explore how we live with loss as well as come to terms with what and who is home.

The Secret Lives of Church Ladies: Stories by Deesha Philyaw

Deesha Philyaw’s blockbuster 2020 story collection,  The Secret Lives of Church Ladies , was a finalist for the National Book Award, and demonstrates that university presses are publishing some of the most exciting and innovative work out there. This West Virginia University Press title delves into the lives of Black women and girls and crackles with wit and energy. The nine stories in Philyaw’s collection feature characters who are figuring out who they want to be in the world, caught between the church’s strictures and their own desires. Two favorite stories of mine are the opening story, “Eula,” about a close and complicated friendship between two women and the poignant epistolary story, “Dear Sister.”

Meet Behind Mars: Stories by Renee Simms

Meet Behind Mars is an eclectic mix of realist, fabulist, and satirical storytelling illustrating a surprising wit and generous sensibility. In these eleven stories published by Wayne State University Press in 2018, Renee Simms writes a range of characters and highlights character quirks, the relationships between parents and children, the specificity of places, and the kinds of things people say to writers, all with a deft hand. The opening story, “High Country,” sets the tone and many moments of understated humor such as when the protagonist “makes a fuzzy mental note: Tom’s Natural Deodorant does not work in the desert.” Later in the same story, literary characters come to life in a magical realist twist that stands out against some of the title story’s protagonist’s more mundane moves and travel.

Feeding the Ghosts : Poems by Rahul Mehta

There is an appealing plainspokenness and humility in Rahul Mehta’s 2024 poetry collection, Feeding the Ghosts —what seems to me to be a desire to communicate more than obfuscate or keep a distance from the reader, which some contemporary poetry does. Mehta’s first two books are prose and his voice in these poems blends a sensitivity to language’s music as well as a novelist’s fluency with narrative. The combination of these gifts creates a series of gorgeous still lifes that also tell moving stories. In these poems, I sense a camaraderie with some of my stories in that the narrators of both are Gujarati, sometimes in places at some distance from major metropolitan areas. Published by the University Press of Kentucky, these soulful poems are full of flowers and trees, love and fear, moments of quiet resilience and aching heartbreak, and I left them feeling open-hearted and tender toward my own ghosts and those of others.

The Clearing: Poems by Philip White

The spare, beautiful poems that make up The Clearing are a sustained and quiet meditation on love, loss, and memory. White has written about the deaths of his parents and his first wife and about how one goes on with life after such pain. Published by Texas Tech University Press in 2007, the poems in The Clearing read as timeless in their questioning, urgent in their address. Certainly, there is the quality of elegy and mourning in The Clearing. However, The Clearing explores not only loss, but how we keep living and even find joy in the living that remains.

Another Appalachia: Coming Up Queer and Indian in a Mountain Place by Neema Avashia

Another Appalachia : Coming Up Queer and Indian in a Mountain Place (2022) is a loving exploration of how a place shapes a person. Neema Avashia examines her identity as a West Virginian Appalachian through essays about food, religion, sports, family, neighbors, social media, gun culture, and more. This collection, published by West Virginia University Press, contains more traditional narrative essays as well as artfully crafted lyric essays. The titles of these essays give a hint of the author’s sensibility with “The Hindu Hillbilly Spice Company: Indolachian Flavors Blend,” “City Mouse/Country Mouse,” and “Nine Forms of the Goddesses.” The acknowledgments in this wonderful book are titled, “Thanks, Y’all.” Avashia mixes nostalgia and humor, sweetness and poignancy, personal reflection and universal questions about home.

I Would Meet You Anywhere: A Memoir by Susan Kiyo Ito

Susan Kiyo Ito’s 2023 memoir, I Would Meet You Anywhere , a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award, is a wise, poignant, journey about home, self, and identity stemming from Ito’s search for her birth parents. However, Ito’s book becomes more than just a search: it is a moving memoir about the meaning of family and the desire to own and tell one’s story. Published by The Ohio State University Press, I Would Meet You Anywhere evokes the magnetic pull of a mystery and once you start reading, contains an appealing page turner quality along with being beautifully written, the combination of which was very satisfying to this reader.

The Sum of Trifles by Julia Ridley Smith

What do we do with the things we inherit? Julia Ridley Smith’s 2021 memoir-in-essays, The Sum of Trifles , grapples with this question as the narrator approaches and must deal with her antique dealer parents’ belongings after their deaths. Published by the University of Georgia Press, Smith’s book is a thoughtful, elegiac look at material culture, love, and grief—at how we live in and with the objects that can deliver to us both the heaviness of the past and the solace of lives well-lived. Smith’s book is a moving inquiry about what we decide to keep and what we let go.

New book about Lauren Spierer case reveals never-before published investigation details

university books malta

"June 3, 2011. There was a different energy in the air around Bloomington, Indiana, this time of year. Late at night, the streets, usually bustling with college students, could be eerily silent."

So begins investigative reporter Shawn Cohen's book " College Girl, Missing: The True Story of How a Young Woman Disappeared in Plain Sight " ($17.99 from sourcebooks). The book hits stores May 28, six days before the 13th anniversary of the night Lauren Spierer vanished.

Spierer was the petite 20-year-old blond coed from Westchester, fresh off her sophomore year at Indiana University, who disappeared on one of the college town’s silent summer streets after a night of partying. She went off into the pre-dawn hours of June 3, 2011, and was never seen again.

From our archive: A family’s pain, measured in Januarys and Junes without an answer

Her disappearance triggered a massive search, and has spawned a cottage industry of conspiracy theories, amateur sleuths, psychics, Reddit threads, true-crime podcasts and TV magazine stories.

Where was Lauren? How could she vanish? Who knows the truth? Who isn't talking?

Cohen’s new book, written with the cooperation of Robert and Charlene Spierer and drawing on their private investigators' files, fills in key details of that fateful night. While it doesn't solve the case, it goes a long way to exploring the personalities and motivations of those at the center of the mystery, and the code of silence that has kept the Spierers in anguish for 13 years, not any closer to finding out what happened to their daughter.

Cohen is able to flesh out the story, to fill in the details beyond where Lauren went, from her off-campus apartment to a friend’s dinner party to a “pre-game” drinking bout to friend Jay Rosenbaum’s townhouse, to a local bar, on an odyssey during which she lost her shoes, her phone, her keys and, eventually, her life.

Cohen had unprecedented access

The Spierers granted Cohen access to the files of their private investigator Bo Deitl.

He sifted through that information, and supplemented it with interviews with case insiders. His knock-on-doors approach brings to light new elements of Lauren Spierer's final hours, permitting Cohen to craft a tantalizing single line that stands alone before the book’s preface, eight words to entice followers of the case: "This book contains information never before made public."

Cohen gets “persons of interest” Corey Rossman and Jay Rosenbaum — believed to be among the last people to see Spierer alive — to speak on the record about what happened that night. They are defensive and combative.

He describes a video not released to the public, one that shows Spierer and Rossman at about 3 a.m. At one point, Cohen writes, while Spierer slumps on the curb, Rossman makes two phone calls. Cohen tracks down the woman Rossman was reaching out to in the middle of a drunken night, as Spierer's friend sat incapacitated.

Cohen pulls apart discrepancies and inconsistencies in the various stories told through the years.

There have been so many theorized culprits, including: a serial killer who was active at the time; a man convicted of a late-night abduction of a female IU student; a former Indianapolis cop with a history of child exploitation; and an inmate who said he was told two men were with Lauren when she overdosed on ecstasy and they threw her body in the Ohio River.

Cohen follows the investigation’s rabbit holes — including one introduced by the Bloomington Police, in the form of a mysterious white van — just far enough to disprove them.

“I needed to mention those folks and point out why they were shot down as possibilities,” Cohen said in an interview.

He said the lack of details, the not knowing, gives onlookers license to fill that vacuum.

“In my crime reporting over the years, this case, the lack of answers, I couldn't believe the cottage industry that cropped up,” he said. “Even Charlene Spierer would be up in the middle of the night, looking at some of the message boards about what people were saying and wondering, 'Is there any truth to that?' And getting frustrated how people were going off without real facts in every single direction. Rabbit holes were followed in every single direction and I tried to keep my focus on the facts.”

Cohen said he kept coming back to one fact.

“Here we are 13 years later, and there's not a shred of evidence that Lauren ever made it out of that townhouse complex alive,” he said. “Then the question becomes a deep dive into what we do know, and confront the people who were in that townhouse complex and also people who they may have interacted with in the aftermath.”

There from the start

Shawn Cohen was there from the start, an investigative reporter dispatched by the Spierers’ hometown paper The Journal News to Indiana to follow a parent's worst nightmare: their college student vanishing, 800 miles from home.

Cohen started breaking news as soon as he arrived in Bloomington in June 2011. He tracked down video that showed Lauren hadn’t been with her boyfriend that night, but was with another student, Corey Rossman. Robert and Charlene Spierer weren’t fans of Cohen’s early coverage, saying it distracted from the work of Bloomington Police. Robert Spierer blasted Cohen, shouting: “Leave the investigating to the police.”

But the Bloomington Police weren’t making progress, stonewalled by key “persons of interest” — young men who were with Lauren that night and were among the last to see her alive — who had lawyered up and were declining to detail what they had seen. Despite the searches and the flyers and the press conferences, police were no closer to finding the girl who stood less than 5 feet tall and weighed 90 lbs.

The family grew frustrated with Bloomington Police, who Cohen said were more interested in giving updates on how many tips they’d received than cooperating with any and every law enforcement agency that could help them. The family would eventually hire their own private investigators.

Nine months after Lauren's disappearance, Charlene Spierer wrote an anguished letter, titled “You Know Where She Is,” and posted it to a blog. It detailed the nightmare the family was enduring and pleaded with those who knew about her daughter's whereabouts to come forward.

“You were with Lauren, you know what happened, and you know where she is,” Charlene wrote. “Whatever the events of the night, you hold the key to what happened to Lauren at night’s end.”

The Spierers, who still live in the Edgemont section of Greenburgh, in the home where they raised Lauren and her older sister, Rebecca, grew to trust their local reporter, or at least to see him as an important conduit.

In the recent interview, Cohen said: “At the one-year mark, I remember returning to Indiana and they really weren't giving many interviews, but they did agree to sit down with me because they knew that people were paying attention to the coverage. They started to open up about their honest feelings about the case at that point.”

(Charlene and Robert Spierer declined to be interviewed for this story.)

A brush with scandal

Fast forward 13 years. Lauren has still not been found.

Cohen moved on to the New York Post where he continued to break big news stories. But he became the story himself when it came to light that he had a relationship with a one-time source, a former sex-worker tied to one of his most sensational stories, about corruption in the NYPD. The revelation in 2018 cost him his job. The Post's competitor, New York Daily News, splashed the story on its pages.

Cohen writes that having to stay silent at the center of a tabloid scandal gave him a perspective on the people he had been writing about for years. He is now a senior reporter for the Daily Mail, traveling the country on breaking-news stories.

'You left these parents dangling'

The investigative files and the interviews he conducted, Cohen said, filled in “the various relationships, the motivations, the reality of that night — and that's what brings it to life.”

Thus prepared, he approached key persons of interest, including Mike Beth, Corey Rossman and Jay Rosenbaum, whom the Spierers sued unsuccessfully in 2013, hoping to shake loose details about Lauren’s final hours and current whereabouts.

Of Rosenbaum and Rossman, Cohen writes: “Clouds of suspicion had followed them into their adult lives.”

Cohen said he sees the book as a cautionary tale, of secrets kept by college students with their parents completely in the dark.

He quotes Stu Baggerly, a former Bloomington public defender, who said he believes there is a wall of silence surrounding the case, secrets held by young men of means with a lot to lose if the true story is told.

“If one of them cracks, all of them are going down,” Baggerly says. “Even if they weren’t directly involved, they’re going to be involved in the scandal. You left these parents dangling for a decade.”

Cohen says losing Lauren has “taken an immense toll” on the Spierers.

One of the most haunting images is of Charlene Spierer standing in a storage room upstairs in their Edgemont home, among plastic bins filled with papers related to the investigation, bins stacked higher than she is tall.

“It’s like a really weird existence,” she tells Cohen. “Because on the one hand, it’s almost like I’m hallucinating, because I have one side of me that’s living currently, and I have one side of me that’s living June 3. I would not say that we have grieved, because I think the not-knowing keeps you from moving forward.

“I’m just literally stuck on June 3,” she said. “It’s too painful to think about before, and there’s no after, because we don’t have any answers.”

NCAA Semifinal Preview: Tampa Hopes to Continue to Rewrite History Books

WINTER PARK, Fla.  - The University of Tampa women's lacrosse team is set to make its first NCAA Final Four appearance on Thursday night with their sights on continuing to rewrite the history books.

The Matchup:  No. 2 University of Tampa (17-3, 6-1 SSC) vs. No. 3 Regis (CO) (20-1, 10-0 RMAC)

Date/Time:  Thursday, May 23, 2024 at 6:30 p.m.

Location:  Showalter Field.  2525 Cady Way, Winter Park, FL 32792

About the Spartans:  Tampa is making its first-ever NCAA Final Four appearance and will take on Regis for just the third time in the program's existence on Thursday night. The last time these two squads matched up was back in 2022 and prior to that was in 2019. Regis holds a 2-0 record all-time versus Tampa, however, both games have been one-goal margins. The Spartans have faired well away from Naimoli this season sporting an impressive 9-2 record on the road and a 1-0 record in neutral site matchups. UT has given up 10 goals or fewer in three consecutive games as the defense and goalkeeper, Alex Walling have dominated. Regis and Tampa share three common opponents played this season, two of which are in the Sunshine State Conference in Florida Tech and Florida Southern. The other team is UIndy.

About the Rangers:  The Rangers advanced to its program's third semifinal appearance since going back-to-back years in 2018 and 2019 after defeating Maryville University. The squad is led by Bailey Truex and Lily Ferguson who were both recently selected as IWLCA All-Americans. Regis has a perfect record away from home turf and have just one loss this season. As mentioned before, Regis and Tampa have played three common opponents in Florida Southern, Florida Tech, and UIndy this season. The Rangers went 3-0 in these matchups with the Spartans going 4-1 having played FSC three times.
