When two or more words are joined together and make a meaningful statement it is called a sentence. A sentence should always be meaningful and convey a meaning.

A sentence always starts with a capital letter and ends with a full stop .

A word is said to be singular when it stands for one person, place, animal, bird, or thing whereas a word is said to be plural when it stands for more than one person, place, animal, bird or things. Singular and plural are quite important topic for further classes also. This is the topic which is frequently found in reading any lesson of any subject. Practice questions for revision are also given here in the form of assignments.

We write ‘a’ or ‘an’ before singular. We do not write ‘a’ or ‘an’ before plural nouns. When we change a noun from the singular to the plural, we add the letter ‘s’ to the singular noun.

1. We have learnt in the earlier class that we often add ‘s’ or ‘es’ to the singular nouns to make their plural.

Nouns, which are one in number, are called Singular Nouns. Nouns, which are many in number, are called Plural Nouns.

3. There are a few nouns which do not have their plural form: (water, milk, furniture, hair) We say ‘a glass of milk/water or two glasses of milk/water, ‘a piece of paper/furniture or pieces of paper/furniture’. We say so because they are uncountable nouns.
