"Two years in isolation and really limited memories of what had happened to her. So that’s one reason for the speech."

Listen to this article

If you're one of the people who sat there during your Stranger Things 4 binge watch and wondered why Eleven could speak in perfect sentences when she was a child, you weren't the only one...

The second half of Stranger Things 4 Volume 1 sees Millie Bobby Brown 's Eleven take part in a top secret project (Nina) that aims to restore her powers through the reliving of her own repressed memories from her time at the lab.

But after watching those flashbacks, fans began speculating as to why Eleven's speech was much more advanced, particularly considering the fact that she had a very, very limited vocabulary when she escaped the lab in season 1.

While some people called the show out for the "plot hole", the Duffer brothers have now revealed that there is actually a reason as to why El's speech is completely different in the flashbacks – and it's something that Volume 2 will dive deeper into when it returns on July 1st.

Duffer brothers explain Eleven&squot;s speech

While answering a few burning questions about Volume 1 in an interview with Variety , the Duffer brothers explained why El's speech in the flashbacks is much more developed than when we met her in season 1, as an almost mute 11-year-old.

Turns out it's not actually a plot hole, more of a plot point that hasn't been explained in full just yet.

Discussing the questions that have been raised by fans, Matt Duffer explained: "Well, she is being socialized the same way with the other children and then she goes into — and she does not remember any of this — she goes into, you learn a little bit more about this in Volume 2, I guess I’m revealing a little bit, but she goes into a coma, reawakens, has no memory of these events and then is raised in total isolation by Brenner, who doesn’t dare bring in another number, for fear of this happening again."

"So he chooses to focus solely on her. She lives alone, in an isolated room. This is the Eleven that we meet in Season 1. Two years in isolation and really limited memories of what had happened to her. And so that’s one reason for the speech."

Stranger Things 4: Eleven was around 8 years old in the flashback scenes

So, in terms of the timeline for those wondering: The massacre at Hawkins Lab occurred in 1979, when Eleven was around eight or nine years old. Up until then, she was being raised with all the other kids and was able to speak in the same way we see the other kids speaking.

After she sent Peter Ballard/001 flying through the gate to the Upside Down, Eleven then went into a coma (which we will, presumably, see in Volume 2.)

As a result of trauma and repressing those memories, coupled with the fact that she was then raised in complete isolation (until 1983, when she escaped), El lost the ability to speak in the way that she used to as a young child.

And there you have it. Volume 2 will probably reveal even more about El's past and what happened after she opened the first gate to the Upside Down, so stay tuned!

Dear Mike, Today is day 185. Feels more like ten years. Joyce says time is funny like that. Emotions can make it speed up or slow down. We are all time travelers if you think about it. For example, this week is going very fast. I think because I am so busy. I have to make something called a visual aid. I hope Mrs. Gracey will give me an A. This article contains SPOILERS for Stranger Things season 4 episode 1.

As the gang is finishing all their tasks before a week of spring break, new threats show their ugly faces in the first episode of Stranger Things season 4.

Catch up here on everything from our Stranger Things season 4 trailer breakdown !

After what feels like a lifetime, Stranger Things season 4 kicks off with a man receiving the newspaper, solving a crossword puzzle in under a minute, and then getting dressed. It ends up being revealed that this is Martin Brenner, the man in charge of Hawkins Laboratory.

The date is September 8th, 1979 (four years before Will was taken into the upside-down). At the lab, all of the children who were being tested (like Eleven) are showcasing their powers in the rec room.

Brenner chooses a young boy who has a 010 on his arm and takes him to do more lessons. Here, the bad doctor tests Ten to the point where the child’s emotions are becoming unstable.

He is able to see that several people in the facility are now dead. In the middle of the lesson, the sirens start going off as chaos ensues in the hallways.

Brenner investigates to find death and blood surrounding the hallways and rooms with a prepubescent Eleven standing alone.

Stranger Things season 4 episode 1: Eleven writes to Mike

Eleven writes a letter to Mike explaining how things are going in California. Joyce has a job working from home as a saleswoman, Jonathan has become a stoner with his friend Argyle, and Will has picked up painting but does not show anyone his artwork.

Eleven remarks that Will has been acting a bit strange lately, but she thinks that’s because he has a crush on someone. She talks about how she is making friends when in reality she is being bullied by her Californian peers.

Dustin is still with Suzie from summer camp. Since she is a whiz with computers, she penitently hacks into Hawkin’s school records to change Dustin’s language grade from a D- to an A-.

At the basketball rally, Robin is in the band, Lucas is on the basketball team, while Dustin, Mike, and Max watch in the stands. The basketball team captain gives a speech about using the town tragedy to motivate his team to win the semi-finals of their tournament game.

They win which means the next game is tonight. Since Mike and Dustin have a D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) campaign that same evening, they are upset by this news since Lucas has to be there to close out their latest campaign with their friend Eddie.

Lucas pleads with them to change the night of the campaign and attend his game. In California, Eleven who goes by the name Jane, gives her presentation about her hero, Jim Hopper, that gets laughed at by her classmates.

Will tries to help out his friend and tells her that the presentation was not that bad but El reminds him “friends don’t lie” and walks away.

Stranger Things season 4 episode 1: Max notices something off

While walking to her appointment with the school counselor, Max notices the head cheerleader, Chrissy, is upset leaving the office. During her own talk, the counselor talks about Max’s poor grades and upsetting family life after the death of her brother Billy.

Max is clearly reserved and lying to her counselor because of her ongoing trauma from the events of the mall. After her meeting, Lucas invites Max to his game, but this only sets her off some more.

Max’s defenses are stronger than the Iron Curtain and she returns the ticket to her ex-boyfriend. She then finds Chrissy throwing up in the bathroom.

She offers to check in on her, but Chrissy tells her to go away. After Max leaves, Chrissy has visions of her mom abusing her, only to find out it was all in her head.

At lunch, Mike and Dustin try to convince their dungeon master Eddie Munson to postpone the campaign since Lucas will not be around. The rest of the group is appalled as Eddie goes on a monologue about how Mike and Dustin need to find some new folks to play with them just like he did with them a couple of years ago.

Back at home, Joyce receives a mysterious package with a bunch of Russian stamps on it. She opens it up to find a porcelain doll inside.

When she calls Murray Bauman to get his wider knowledge on the subject, they discover a crack on the doll. Murray believes there could be a dangerous weapon inside the porcelain Russian doll.

Jonathan is stressed during woodshop, so his friend Argyle talks to him. This parallels with Nancy working as the editor of the Hawkins school newspaper, who is also very stressed.

They both explain to their friends the numerous reasons why they are unable to see each other but why they still love each other very much. Both lovers are saying hollow statements but state that their relationship is perfect, even though they are not seeing each other.

Stranger Things season 4 episode 1: Mike and Dustin need a replacement

Mike and Dustin struggle to find a new member for their D&D campaign when suddenly Dustin has the brilliant idea to talk to some middle schoolers. Here, they find Erica ready and willing to play.

Chrissy walks into the woods behind the high school, still having menacing and scary visions. In these woods, however, she finds Eddie there waiting to sell her some weed.

The two chat, laugh and bond after spending years on opposite sides of the clique spectrum, proving how they have more in common than their friends and appearances. In the end, though, Chrissy asks for something stronger than weed.

Eleven is still struggling with school, both academically and socially as she is continually bullied by Angela, the same girl who gave her a hard time in class. El is fed up and tries using her powers on the cruel bullies.

But her powers are still not working since the mall and losing Hopper. While breaking the porcelain Russian doll, Joyce finds a letter inside.

In this letter, all that can be easily made out is “Hop is alive” which is all the single mother needs to hear to be filled with relief among many other emotions.

That night, the basketball game and the D&D quest are paralleled as they both build-up to a crescendo-inducing huddle on the court and at the table. On the first attempts, both the team captain and Dustin miss their shots.

But when it’s Erica’s turn to roll along with her brother Lucas getting the rebound, they both win for their respective teams.

Stranger Things season 4 episode 1: The monster reveals itself

In the parking lot, Lucas sees his friends and sister celebrating their victory. He’s clearly feeling left out since he chose basketball over his friends.

Max is home feeding her dog outside when she notices Chrissy going into Eddie’s home. In the home, Chrissy is looking for “special K” which Eddie goes searching for since he misplaced it.

As she waits, her visions come back, and she hallucinates her family in a very horrific manner. She becomes locked in her own mind and cannot escape.

When Eddie returns to give her the drugs he finds the cheerleader with glossy eyes, unresponsive, but standing upright. An evil voice is chasing after Chrissy in her visions before a humanoid and slimy monster approaches her and tells her that her suffering can now end.

The monster puts his gruesome hand over Chrissy’s face leading to her to float to the ceiling of Eddie’s home. He watches in horror as she is crunched to death by the unseen monster.

Stranger Things season 4: Eleven’s mind palace explained

Real? Not real?

preview for Stranger Things season 4 trailer (Netflix)

Welcome back, mouth breathers. It’s been a long time coming – three years to be precise – but Stranger Things season four volume one has officially arrived on Netflix .

With lengthy episodes worthy of the cinema and tense cliffhangers to boot, this season is bigger and bloodier than ever.

The Duffer brothers have certainly raised the bar and now that the cast is older things have gotten darker, Harry Potter-style. This does leave behind some of the pop culture/'80s nostalgia that season three provided us with, mind.

It helps that the only thing saving Max (Sadie Sink) from certain death is playing a constant loop of Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’. If that doesn’t prove that Kate Bush is the answer to all your problems, then what will?

millie bobby brown as eleven and noah schnapp as will byers in stranger things season 4

The fourth instalment reunites us with all of our favourite characters, and when we’re not in Hawkins with the Hellfire Club or Soviet Russia with an imprisoned Hopper (David Harbour), we’re in California with the Byers family and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), who now goes by her birth name of Jane.

Our heart aches for El more than ever this season as she grieves the loss of her father and faces a new antagonist very different from her prior otherworldly experiences: high-school bullies.

Throughout the first few episodes we watch El struggle to fit in, with her lack of social skills making her an easy target, particularly for classic mean girl Angela (Elodie Grace-Orkin).

It doesn’t help that Will (Noah Schnapp) isn’t doing the best at looking out for her and Jonathan (Charlie Heaton) is mostly absent getting stoned somewhere with his new friend Argyle (Eduardo Franco).

Now that her powers are non-existent after defeating the Mind Flayer and closing the gate to the Upside-Down in the epic Battle of Starcourt, she struggles to deal with her adversaries without them.

stranger things, season 4 teaser, will and eleven

Things reach a climax when Angela and her minions humiliate El in front of Mike (Finn Wolfhard) at the roller rink, resulting in El whacking Angela over the head with a skate in a spell of emotional rage. Although shocking, we can all agree it was well deserved.

Of course, the authorities don’t think so when they come to arrest her for assault and send her away to a juvenile detention centre.

Things seem to get a little better, though, when the van El is travelling to juvie in is stopped by a familiar face.

Fans will remember when Sam Owens (Paul Reiser) helped Hopper officially adopt Eleven in season three, so of course El isn’t too hesitant to go with him when he tells her that he is able to help get her powers back.

This is also when El finds out about what's been happening back in Hawkins, with the all powerful Vecna stalking teens with nightmares before slaughtering them – and Owens believes that El is the key to stopping him.

vecna, stranger things season 4

It isn't until they arrive at the underground government bunker that El realises Owens has tricked her into teaming up with her earliest enemy, Dr Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine) aka Papa.

Now El must face her traumatic past as a way to regain her powers. But what exactly is this mindscape Brenner pulls her into?

'The Nina Project' has been a topic of discussion ever since the titles of the episodes were released, and now it's been revealed that it's actually some sort of sensory deprivation tank.

We saw something similar in season one when El was lowered into a tank of water by Brenner and tasked with locating a Russian spy via remote viewing. By season three, she was an expert and could do something as simple as spy on the boys with a blindfold.

This time, however, El is remotely viewing and reliving her past rather than viewing something that's happening in the present.

It does get little confusing trying to decipher what's real or not at times, but the fact of the matter is, it's all real. Or was.

stranger things season 4 teaser trailer

Brenner mentions that everything which has ever taken place in his lab, "every failure and every success," has been captured on videotape, including everything El experienced while she was a test subject there.

He also explains that brains have defense mechanisms which protect you from traumatic experiences and bury the bad memories. So Brenner uses the past videotapes and sensory tank as a way to not only unlock El's memories, but to make her relive them through the same remote viewing she uses to watch events in the present.

In that case, everything that happens in the mindscape is real, but only for a much younger El who we are able to see in older El's reflection (thank you CGI).

As cruel as it seems, it does help El get her powers back (yay), which we see for the first time when she throws the guards against a wall after her first experience in the tank.

Now that we know it works, she must carry on with the experiment to unlock her powers to their full potential.

millie bobby brown, stranger things season 4

WARNING: Major spoilers for later episodes – don't say we didn't warn you.

Back in the foreboding 'rainbow room', which we've seen glimpses of and heard about throughout the series, El's gruelling rediscovery leads to her learn that she was once tricked into attempting to escape by an orderly from Brenner's lab.

After she helps remove the chip that weakens and tracks him, we also discover that the orderly is, or was, subject 001 (Jamie Campbell Bower), the original patient who Brenner used to give the other children their supernatural abilities.

He then goes on a murderous rampage, massacring all the children in the rainbow room. This brings El to the realisation that she wasn't the one who committed the horrifying scene as she had previously assumed when seeing flashbacks of blood and bodies.

In episode six, 001 reminds Eleven about the time her mother was taken away from her when she was a little girl. He relays that 001, who we didn't know was him at this point, used a similar memory which made him "both sad and angry" as a way to harness his powers.

El uses this tip to her advantage, as she can think of her mother and the massacre she's just witnessed to gather all her power and banish 001 to the Upside-Down. In doing so, he is transformed into the series' most nightmare-fuelled villain yet, Vecna.

As it turns out, El has defeated the monster once before. It's a lot to get your head around, but with both her memories and powers now fully restored, it seems as though El will be back to save Hawkins again. And she's perhaps even more powerful than ever...

We'll have to wait and see until vol 2 premieres in July.

Stranger Things season 4 vol 1 is now available to stream on Netflix. Vol 2 will premiere July 1.

Share All sharing options for: Stranger Things season 4 trailer is a call back to Eleven’s past

Stranger Things season 4 has a new teaser trailer and it’s all about Eleven. The new teaser debuted on Thursday after a short YouTube preview , but it didn’t answer many questions about the upcoming season.

The teaser seems to take us back to the Hawkins National Laboratory, from which Eleven originally escaped in Stranger Things ’ first season. Inside the lab we see several children, all in hospital gowns and with shaved heads, wandering around a rainbow-decorated room. Eleven herself is nowhere to be seen. Dr. Martin Brenner walks into the room and says he has “something very special planned” for the children inside. The camera then pans to a door marked “11” and we hear Eleven breathing heavily.

Season 4’s teaser trailer might be a flashback to the show’s first season and a clue that we’ll see more of Eleven’s origin story in the lab. Or it could be a sign that Dr. Brenner is still alive and using more experiments and kids to try to get back into contact with Eleven.

This trailer also keep us in the dark about what’s going on with the rest of the show’s cast. The third season of Stranger Things ended with Hopper sacrificing himself by walking into the Upside Down, but a post-credit tease, and the fourth season’s first teaser , set in Soviet Russia hinted that he was still alive, just in enemy hands. The rest of the gang is still in Hawkins, Indiana, except for Joyce, Jonathan, Will, and Eleven, who moved away.

Whatever’s going to happen it seems that Netflix’s goal with this teaser was keep things as mysterious as possible. The YouTube trailer’s description simply reads “002/004” — which implies that at least two more teaser trailers are coming (season 4’s first trailer had the description “001/004”).

Our best hope of figuring things out will have to wait until the season actually begins, but it doesn’t have an official release date just yet. Netflix said in a press release Thursday that season 4 is currently in production, so it could be a while.

Watch the Haunting New Stranger Things 4 Trailer Tease Eleven's Origin Story

Eleven's dark past appears to be at the heart of stranger things 4 , judging by the spooky teaser footage that dropped on may 6. keep scrolling to watch..

Stranger Things fans are all ears as the hit Netflix series drops its latest teaser.

The new Stranger Things 4 footage was released on Thursday, May 6 and seemed to hint that the forthcoming batch of episodes will delve into the dark early years for Eleven ( Millie Bobby Brown ) and Dr. Martin Brenner, a.k.a. "Papa" ( Matthew Modine ).

As the clip began, a number of youngsters with closely cropped hair could be seen playing with toys, including blocks and a chess set. At one point, a Magic 8-Ball displayed the message, "Signs point to yes."

Later, Brenner appeared to be seen from the back as he walked into the room with the kids. "Good morning, children," he said in voiceover, leading to a chorus of voices replying, "Good morning, Papa."

When he continued, "How are you today?" they responded, "Good, Papa."

He went on by saying ominously, "Good, I'm glad to hear it. Because today, I have something very special planned for you."

This led to overwhelmingly heavy breathing as viewers saw a door with the numeral "11" on it. Finally, Brenner asked, "Eleven, are you listening?"

Just then, her eyes popped open. Needless to say, it was extremely spooky, and we can't wait.

Stranger Things 4 is currently in production , although Netflix has yet to announce a launch date. The third season dropped back on July 4, 2019.

Judging from this latest teaser, the new episodes seem likely to delve more into Eleven's origins. However, it's never easy to predict what exactly to expect from the show.

After all, a mysterious clip shared way back in February 2020  showed Russian prisoners building a railroad in the snow. It ended with the revelation that Hopper ( David Harbour )  is indeed still alive , despite the end of season three suggesting he'd perished.

Last month, cast member  Gaten Matarazzo told Jimmy Fallon that the new season is likely to be the "scariest" one yet .

"Season 4 is shaping up to be the biggest and most frightening season yet, and we cannot wait for everyone to see more," series co-creators  Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer shared in a February 2020 statement.

As we patiently await more clues, check out the above teaser, and check out even more info at the show's site .

Warning: The following contains spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4, Part 1.

As Stranger Things fans dove into Season 4, Part 1, they accepted everything from One’s transformation into Vecna to Mrs. Wheeler’s new hairdo. But they couldn’t get behind the fact that, in flashbacks to Eleven’s time at Hawkins Lab, she’s so much more articulate than the kid that we met way back in Season 1.

“What gives?” viewers asked. “Were her verbal skills set back by witnessing Peter’s rampage?”

Speaking with TVLine, the Netflix hit’s creators, Matt and Ross Duffer — AKA the Duffer Brothers — offer up an answer. “The trauma [of the massacre] definitely affected Eleven,” begins Ross. “Ideally, when we were writing the flashbacks, the goal was to mimic her speech, with the breaks, with the limited words…

“But what happens,” he continues, “is that she’s surrounded by other kids at the lab. She’s socialized. Then she goes into a coma for a period of time, reawakens and then is isolated completely by Dr. Brenner. That’s the story of Eleven.”

Chimes in Matt: “When you meet her, she’s 9, right? And then she blacks out. She doesn’t have a memory of all this, which is why she has to re-experience it [via Nina]. The Season 1 flashbacks that take place post-massacre, she’s locked up in a cell just by herself, with no other children.”

No other anyone , really. Eleven has “no interaction aside from occasionally her quote-unquote Papa,” notes Ross. So “that was the thinking behind” her linguistic shortcomings when we met her vs. her relative articulateness in Season 4’s flashbacks.

Part 2 of Stranger Things ’ penultimate season drops Friday, July 1.

I also think we were seeing this through Eleven’s memories, not seeing exact flashbacks of the events themselves. That’s why Eleven was often pictured as her older self, not the age she would have been. So maybe she perceived herself as speaking more than what she really did? I never had a problem with it, the way they had her essentially being her older self walking through what she could remember.

This was my thinking too

That’s the plothole that people are talking about? She got traumatized, she regressed, bam, explained. I’m much more interested in how the heck it was possible for One to have all that unsupervised access to her? Even after he was punished for tryng to turn her against Dr Papa, he was still able to talk to her freely and get her alone to remove the device from his neck. WHY?

I think that the doctors severely underestimated how “powerless” they thought One was after they gave him that power dampening implant. If One hadn’t groomed Eleven into helping him, he would have tried to turn another child.

She was just the easiest target because she was considered the runt of the litter and easily manipulable, as her being bullied left her desperate for any kind of friend. It was kind of clear to me after when Eleven saw Brenner and the guards hitting him with the cattle prod. He wanted her to see that because it would look like he was being bullied by other authority figures, and he was certainly the one who goaded 2 and the other goons into bullying her.

WHY DOES “WILL” KEEP TOUCHING HIS NECK. IM CONVINCED HE IS ONE OF THEM (NUMBERED KIDS). CALLING IT NOW, WE REMOVE SOMETHING FROM HIS NECK

my question is and maybe i need to rewatch season 2, but if One killed everyone but Eleven, how did Kali (the lost sister with the make things appear that aren’t there power) survive and join that band of misfits, you saw the flashbacks of El with Kali, did Kali run away/get removed from the facility before the massacre? That what I feel is a plot hole unless i’m not remembering correctly.

In episode…6? One asks Eleven a question and adds “this would have been when Eight was still here…” Obviously doesn’t explain how she’s gone, but sets up she’s already gone.

Maybe we’ll find out One originally approached Eight to help him, but once she got out she just bolted. I don’t think she would have been able to remove his restraining device with her particular powers, so maybe she just ran off by herself. I hope they address it.

thank missed that and forgot what number she was.

In season 2 Kali tells Eleven she escaped

I could be wrong, since I haven’t read it, but I believe that there was a comic mini-series starring Kali and it may have included flashbacks that showed how she escaped.

How did 001s dad lose his eyes? In the flash back when he was arrested, he had both of them…

There is a flashback where he has a razor blade and cuts them out while in jail so he could be with his family. But Vecca wouldn’t allow him his death. Since being alive is worse than death.

At the point that he cut his eyes out, him living or not living had nothing to do with Vecna allowing him to die or not. By that point, Vecna was in a full on coma and then later on is in the custody of Hawkins lab.

The real plot whole is the fact that at he facility Dr. Papa says Eleven is not a prisoner and yet everytime she tried to leave she was met with soldiers. Explain this? Free to leave? I think not.

That’s not really a plot hole. Papa is an unreliable character. He frequently lies to Eleven.

Meh, I’m pretty critical I would still call this a plot hole. I also believe that he was genuinely trying to help her. Although you do bring up a very valid point :)

Surely One, without powers, could still physically rip out that implant from his own neck and become a superhero at any time.

Perhaps they had one of the children put a mental block in him to where he simply wasn’t physically able to do it himself, but had to get someone to do it for him.

At the end of st4 episode 7, we see 11 create the first gate to the upside down in the rainbow playroom yet in series 1, it show the gate to be in the basement of the lab? Secondly, when 11 puts 1 into the upside down, she’s got blood coming out of her eyes, ears etc plus her hospital gown is covered in blood but when she’s escaped from the lab in series 1 episode 1, there’s no blood. Thirdly, how did that gate appear in the tree in series 1 episode 5? TIA

The massacre occurs in 1979. The first season takes place in 1983, so there have been 4 years since Eleven opened the first gateway. It’s possible that the “Rainbow Room” was converted into that laboratory and a new playroom was created.

And that also answers your other question about all the blood. That event happens four years before her escape, so she wouldn’t have been covered in blood.

Thank you 😊

At the very end of episode 7, it shows that the wall Eleven threw One against closed. Brenner is seen in front of it looking at it.

She then connects to the Upside Down like you mentioned in 1983, but the wall closed itself after their fight.

Thanks a lot for sharing. this post & the comments cleared my all doubts

ok, but the main question is: how old is Eleven then?!! If that Victor Creel stiry happened 30 years before that and we now know that One’s Victor son and the one that caused it all, then Eleven was there 30 years ago.. like wth!!

Eleven is roughly the same age as the boys. So if they’re high school freshmen, so about 14-15. The events at the Creel house were in 1959 and the lab massacre was in 1979. That’s only 20 years, not 30. Henry/Peter/One was 12 when he killed his mother and sister and framed his father, so he’s 32 when he’s grooming Eleven to restore his abilities. Eleven was about 7-8 when she sent One to the Upside Down.

OMG! You guys are on point with so much! History quips that match modern day! History facts! Need I say more! Damn!!!!

(Only read if you’ve read all of the Stranger Things Comic Series)

⬇⬇⬇ Question Down Below ⬇⬇⬇

Why did the Duffer Bros just replace 003, 006, and the twins 009 and 09.5. I mean I understand the deal with 006 being dead and all, but why not bring 003 and the twins back into the action! I mean I definitely would like to see some connection with the comics and I think people would agree with me. But overall I really liked how they introduced all the other number into the series, because it just tells us a lot more about 011 and her past in Hawkins Lab. Thereis also 001 more thing that would probably be cool to discuss, what if 008 comes in season 4 or 5 to 011 to help her defeat 001/Vecna as she has the power to make illusions, so she could trick him into showing him something to distract him, or she could lure the other people who are about to go into Vecna’s Curse and bring them back while Eddie uses his magic guitar to open the portal. If you made it this far, then thanks as I spent some time writing this because I really need to discuss my theories with someone so……Thanks Again!I know that’s a lot of words, but I have a lot of theories so yeah. Thanks!(for the third time) and keep on being nerdy! (like me)

I cannot get past the fact the Duffer Brothers thought a roomful of bloodied dead children was a useful dramatic device, even before the massacre in Texas, and also why no comments in the sky-high ratings for season four mention this travesty. Apart from all the disconnects in season four, surely this loss of children rates complaint?

It’s all freestyle. They had no idea where they were going after season 1. No mention of anything this season in the previous seasons. Which is why this is such a mid show with so many plot holes.

Except that that’s not how language works. Physical trauma can cause a loss is mental skills but emotional ones can’t really do that; not quite like that. She might become mute, but she would still know HOW to speak, and would still remember vocabulary. The Duffer Brothers are clearly making this up as they go along, and that’s okay, just be honest. They didn’t do any research into how the human brain works, though, if they thought Eleven could ever forget the word “friend”.

Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2 Adds Four To Cast, Character Details Revealed

Reba mcentire's new tv show makes up for her 4-year-old western being canceled after 3 seasons, ncis: hawai’i’s cancellation is a massive loss for one important aspect of the franchise.

Even though she barely speaks, Eleven has some great quotes in Netflix's hit show, Stranger Things . She is very much the face of the series. Millie Bobby Brown's memorable performance gives Eleven a mysterious quality, while simultaneously earning viewers' sympathy. The show is Netflix's most popular series for a reason. The '80s nostalgia and vibrant aesthetic are huge contributing factors, but it is standout characters like Eleven who really cement Stranger Things ' reputation.

Eleven has had quite the journey since she first appeared in Stranger Things . From a nearly non-verbal child raised in a lab to a young woman adjusting to a new family and a new high school, Eleven has been forced to evolve in a short amount of time. Her early quotes in the series were typically only one or two words, but her command of language evolved with her character, bringing even more interesting lines to season 4. She doesn't speak much, so when she does, her words are all the more memorable.

13 "This Is Mr. Fibbly. He Is A Squirrel."

Season 4, episode 1 “chapter one: the hellfire club”.

When season 4 begins, Eleven, using the name Jane, is a freshman in high school. She has to give a presentation on her hero, and she chooses to give one on Jim Hopper. It's a hard topic for her to get through given that she still feels guilt and sadness about Hopper sacrificing himself. And the bullies in her class don't make it easier.

Eleven leads off the presentation with a line about the squirrel that is part of her diorama. It's meant to provide a little bit of levity for what's going to be a heavy topic, and while Brown's delivery is great, the joke doesn't go as well as Eleven hoped. It's definitely one of the lighter Eleven quotes from the series.

12 "I'm The Monster."

Season 1, episode 6 “chapter six: the monster”.

Throughout the first season, Eleven is very tight-lipped about who she is and where she's come from, leaving the boys guessing. Lucas has suspicions about her, and he's not afraid to voice them. He calls her a monster when she uses her powers against him, and Mike and Dustin have to agree, despite trying to argue that she made a mistake at the same time.

She scares the boys, and they mistakenly believe that she's lying to them, leading Eleven to go her own way for a bit. And while Eleven shows how inspiring she is after saving Mike from falling to his death, she tells them the truth — that she opened the Gate, letting the Demogorgon through, thus making her the monster. Mike immediately counters this by pointing out that she just saved his life. Despite valuing the boys as friends, Eleven demonstrates that she understands why others might fear her.

11 "Mouthbreather."

Especially in season 1, it's rare for Eleven to speak. Most of her lines consist of only one word, which is often "no." However, it appears that being quiet allows her to absorb the information around her, giving the audience this great Eleven quote.

She pays attention and listens carefully to what goes on around her. She hears Mike call one of the bullies a mouthbreather, which Mike explains is "a dumb person, a knucklehead." Later, when she breaks into a store and steals Eggos, she calls the attendant a mouthbreather in one of her most iconic moments. It's a great example of just how quickly Eleven learns.

10 "Joyce Says Time Is Funny Like That. Emotions Can Make It Speed Up Or Slow Down. We Are All Time Travelers If You Think About It."

Eleven learns a lot in a very short amount of time. She has a lot of catching up to do compared to other teenagers. As she learns more verbal skills while living with the Byers family in California, she's writing Mike letters. In the letter that narrates the Season 4 premiere's opening, Eleven tells Mike about Joyce's perspective on time.

While Eleven doesn't entirely say that she agrees with Joyce, it certainly sounds like she does. Eleven spends a lot of time eagerly anticipating Mike's arrival, and a very short amount of time seeing her relationship begin to unravel.

9 "353 Days. I Heard."

Season 2, episode 9 “chapter nine: the gate”.

Mike and Eleven are separated at the end of Season 1 when Eleven sacrifices herself to get rid of the Demogorgon. Mike proceeds to call her on his walkie-talkie every single day for 353 days. He never gets a response, but he keeps trying.

Eleven can only listen in by transporting herself to the Upside Down, where she can enter an ethereal space and remain unseen. She listens to Mike every day but can't say anything back, which pains both of them. When they're finally reunited at the end of Season 2, Mike starts to tell her that he called her every day, but she cuts him off and finishes his sentence for him. Their bond only appears stronger because of that separation.

8 "I Can Fight."

Season 3, episode 8 “chapter eight: the battle of starcourt”.

In season 3, Eleven really learns to control and finesse her powers. This is largely thanks to her little lesson with Kali in Season 2, which taught her a lot, even if fans didn't love the episode. As a result, Eleven is more confident in her abilities, and she's ready to use them to defend her friends and the place she's grown to call home.

In the Battle of Starcourt, Eleven contributes greatly to the fight against the Mind Flayer and to protecting her friends. However, she quickly feels drained. Nevertheless, she insists to Hopper that she should stay and fight, instead of leaving him to save herself. It's a moment where she truly believes she can do good and wants to help her friends, even though she's been compromised.

7 "Ghost. Halloween."

Season 2, episode 2 “chapter two: trick or treat, freak”.

At the start of Season 2, Eleven feels trapped in Hopper's tiny home. She's not allowed to go outside or talk to any of her friends, who aren't even sure if she's alive. She is more and more frustrated, and as a result, argumentative, when it comes to Hopper.

The season picks up on Halloween when Mike, Will, Dustin, and Max go trick-or-treating. Eleven wants to join in so that she can see her friends, even if she has to be disguised to do so. She dons a sheet and cuts out holes for the eyes, explaining to Hopper that she's a ghost. Still, he doesn't let her go out, and Eleven becomes even more frustrated.

6 "What Is 'Friend?'"

Season 1, episode 2 “chapter two: the weirder on maple street”.

Eleven doesn't know much of the world, having spent her childhood locked up in a laboratory, and this Eleven quote hints at that early in the series. Though she did spend time with children her own age in the seclusion of the lab, she was bullied by Dr. Brenner's other test subjects. Season 4 also reveals that trauma blocks a lot of her memories of that time as well. What Eleven learns about friendship comes from Mike and the Party.

When he first mentions friends to her, Eleven has to question what a friend is. For viewers, this is a moment to feel bad for Eleven, but when she asks Mike what "friend" means, he doesn't judge her. He explains that it's someone you'd do anything for, and someone you'd never lie to. Mike is completely open with Eleven when they first meet, which is what endears him to her and the audience.

5 "Halfway Happy."

In Season 2, Eleven is still expanding her vocabulary and learning to understand slang. When she is upset that she can't go trick-or-treating, Hopper decides on a compromise. Eleven has never heard of a compromise, so Hopper explains that it means "halfway happy."

Eleven uses this term occasionally throughout the season, but it seems more like she's halfway sad. She doesn't see the word "compromise" as most people would see it because her concessions always seem to be larger than she wants them to be. It's understandable then, that she would really understand the term to be something that brings her sadness.

4 "I Dump Your A**!"

Season 3, episode 2 “chapter two: the mall rats”.

One of Eleven's most shining moments in Stranger Things is when she dumps Mike in Season 3. It seems like a silly and frivolous thing to do, especially when it's followed by a shot of Eleven and Max high-fiving on the bus, dripping ice-creams in hand. It's a necessary change for her character though, and the moment marks one of Eleven's most excited quotes in the series.

Throughout Season 3, Eleven is trying to figure out who she is, especially without male influences. This moment really cements her rise to autonomy. Having dumped Mike, Eleven is ready to be herself on her own, to make her own choices and do what she wants to do. For better or worse, the series ties Eleven to Mike from the moment he and his friends find her, so it's important that she develop an identity outside of him.

3 "I Do Not Belong. Anywhere."

Season 4, episode 3 “chapter three: the monster and the superhero”.

While Mike and his friends can easily see that Eleven doesn't entirely fit in when they find her in Hawkins, Eleven learns just how out of place she is in the world as well. The more she experiences, the more she grapples with figuring out her place. That's especially true after the first season of the series.

She struggles while being kept in the cabin by Hopper because she craves social interaction. And she struggles when she meets up with Kali because the two don't always see eye to eye. These challenges are further compounded in Season 4 when Eleven experiences public school. Eleven finds herself unable to make friends or connect with others. She also can no longer use her abilities, and it leaves her adrift. Eleven doesn't believe she belongs, and she voices as much to Mike.

2 "Bitchin'."

Season 2, episode 7 “chapter seven: the lost sister”.

Eleven seems to have a pattern of picking up random slang and either misunderstanding it or adopting it into her everyday language. When she goes away in Season 2, Kali and the others give her a makeover. She assumes a new look, caked in dark makeup and cloaked in black clothes. The others call her "bitchin'" and she later repeats the term to Hopper, and later, to Mike.

The moment she first uses the term serves to make the audience smile. When she continues to use it after the fact, it's a reminder of what Eleven has been through more than anything. In order to learn the term, Eleven had to learn about her past from Kali. In order to keep using the term though, with a hint of nostalgia, Eleven had to return to her newfound family.

1 "Friends Don't Lie."

A repeated mantra in stranger things by party members.

One of the most important rules in this show is that friends don't lie to each other. Mike, Lucas, and Dustin establish this almost immediately as they attempt to welcome Eleven into their Party. It takes some time for this to sink in, but eventually, Eleven is telling other people about this rule.

When she thinks that Mike is lying to her about his grandmother, she insists to Max that friends don't lie, but she retorts that boyfriends do. She also gets upset with Hopper for lying to her about when she can see Mike and the others, but he thinks he's lying for her own good. Telling the truth to one another is a cardinal rule among members of The Party, and it's easily the most famous quote from Stranger Things .

eleven's presentation season 4

Things are about to get even stranger in 2022.

On Friday, Netflix dropped a teaser trailer for its supernatural, '80s-set drama Stranger Things , revealing that we'll return to the Upside Down for the show's fourth season next year.

The teaser — which will also air during primetime coverage of the Tokyo Olympics — also debuted some new footage from the upcoming episodes, intercut with memorable moments scenes previous seasons. In the video, Eleven ( Millie Bobby Brown ) can be heard whispering "It's coming" and "It's almost here." So that's not ominous at all.

While season 3 ended with Jim Hopper's ( David Harbour ) apparent death, a post-credit scene and previous teases for season 4 confirmed that he actually survived after all. It also appears that Hawkins Laboratory is up and running, with deranged doc Martin Brenner ( Matthew Modine ) hanging out with kids with special abilities.

Production on Season 4 of Stranger Things was underway when the COVID-19 pandemic hit and shut everything down in March 2020. Production resumed in Georgia last fall.

There's no exact date for the new season as yet but cast additions include Robert Englund ( Nightmare on Elm Street ) and Tom Wlaschiha ( Game of Thrones ) as one of Hopper's Russian captors. Brett Gelman and Priah Ferguson have also been upped to series regulars.

Watch the teaser above.

That Jaw-Dropping Eleven Reveal In Stranger Things Season 4, Episode 7 Explained

Eleven locked in a van

Contains spoilers for "Stranger Things 4," Episode 7, "Chapter Seven: The Massacre at Hawkins Lab"

After the jaw-dropping cliffhanger of "Stranger Things" Season 3 , fans have been waiting patiently to find out what's next for Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), Chief Hopper (David Harbour), and the rest of the Hawkins gang. Thankfully the show has finally returned to Netflix for its fourth season as it reaches new levels of terror thanks to its latest mystery surrounding a horrifying new villain.

But the heroes are scattered when the season first kicks off, with Eleven, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp), his brother Jonathan (Charlie Heaton), and his mother Joyce (Winona Ryder) still living in California after Hopper's "death" at the end of Season 3. But the rest of the kids in Hawkins realize that something is preying on the troubled teens in town, which leads them back to the Upside Down.

The series has already been met with a great reception from critics , who've praised the deeper horror tone of the series, though many complained about the long runtime of the episodes. They all clock in at over one hour each, while Episode 7, "The Massacre at Hawkins Lab," pushes that to one hour and 38 minutes. But considering the new season introduces its latest villain, Vecna , it's understandable why the Duffer brothers needed more time to establish everything that's going on.

Many fans might be wondering why Eleven gets sidelined for most of the season while she gets her powers back with Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) and Sam Owens (Paul Reiser). The bulk of Eleven's arc is told through flashback sequences and they're vital to the season. Not only do they reveal what she went through in the Hawkins lab before Season 1, but it all builds to a shocking revelation in Episode 7 about one of the other children that Brenner experimented on.

Jamie Campbell Bower is Number One

The younger version of Eleven in the flashbacks is a very lonely girl who's shunned and bullied by the other children in the lab — and the season's opening heavily implies that she kills them all in a bloody rampage. It's revealed that her only friend was a quiet orderly called Peter Ballard, played by "Harry Potter" and "The Mortal Instruments" alum Jamie Campbell Bower. Although he helps Eleven cope with the trauma of being trapped in the lab — and how to deal with the other kids — it's hard not to be suspicious about his intentions.

Eventually, the abuse Eleven suffers, alongside Brenner's manipulation of the lab, overwhelms Ballard, and he reveals his true identity as the son of Victor Creel (Robert Englund) . Peter explains his abilities had started to emerge when he was a child, and he discovered his parents' past sins by looking into their minds. Although Victor previously thought it was a "demon" who was causing chaos in the Creel house, it was actually his own son — who resented his parents for the way they treated him.

It's true that Peter actually forced his family to live through haunting visions of their worst nightmares before he slaughtered his own mother and his sister. That's a horrifying thought. Unfortunately, after Victor was wrongly convicted for the gruesome killings, the young boy was acquired by Dr. Brenner — and he became the first candidate in his experimental program. Yes, Peter is number One.

The massacre at Hawkins lab? Well, Peter was responsible for that, too, as he breaks down after years of being beaten and downtrodden by Brenner and his goons. But it gets worse. Peter's whole backstory is a way of making audiences understand the big bad of the season: Vecna.

Eleven accidentally created Vecna

On one hand, it's relieving to know that Eleven isn't actually a mass murderer this entire time, but on the other hand, it proves just how dangerous Peter/One really is. When Eleven discovers that Peter has slaughtered the entire lab, it quickly turns into a telekinetic battle between the two, and it ends with Eleven pinning him to a wall and blasting him repeatedly until he slowly disintegrates before being thrown into a gate to the Upside Down. You can see where this is going ...

As the twisted villain falls through a cosmic hellscape, he gets hit several times by the eerie red lightning that constantly lights up the Upside Down, and the painful shocks transform him into a gray fleshy version of himself. Although it's not quite clear why his nose fell off or how he started plugging himself into the Upside Down using tentacles ... gross. Basically, Eleven is responsible for Peter (aka One) becoming Vecna. That's going to leave her with a lot of guilt.

Since then, Vecna has amassed more power by absorbing the trauma of the troubled teens in Hawkins. It seems likely that he wants to get revenge on Eleven and Brenner before he makes his claim on the rest of the world. Remember, when Peter/One delivers the typical "Join me!" villain speech, he tempts Eleven by saying they could reshape the world how they see fit because of their powers. He probably hasn't given up on that goal.

It's a brilliant cliffhanger to end "Stranger Things" Season 4, Vol. 1 with. Will Victor Creel learn the truth? How is Eleven going to defeat Peter, aka One, aka Vecna? It's going to be a long wait until Vol. 2 arrives on July 1.

'Stranger Things' Season 4 Episode 3 Recap: Can El Get Her Powers Back?

El is the superhero the world needs, but not the one it deserves right now. (Looking at you, Angela.)

Stranger Things Season 4's "Chapter Three: The Monster and the Superhero" shows the kids in their element: El ( Millie Bobby Brown ) is taking the fate of the world in her hands yet again, Dustin ( Gaten Matarazzo ), Steve ( Joe Keery ), and the gang are teaming up to figure out how the hell to take down a slimy dark wizard monster, and Jonathan ( Charlie Heaton ) and Argyle ( Eduardo Franco ) are struggling to keep up with simple dinner conversation under the haze of that sweet, sweet Purple Palm Tree Delight.

The episode opens with new character Lt. Colonel Sullivan ( Sherman Augustus ), who pays an official visit to Dr. Samuel Owens ( Paul Reiser ) , who is now living in Ruth, Nevada. Sullivan is committed to ridding Hawkins of evil once and for all, which, unfortunately, he thinks can all be traced back to El, "Brenner's little pet." He says that Dr. Brenner trained El for this exact thing – remote assassination. Dr. Owens insists that El is dead, but even after they do a thorough search of his entire house and find nothing, Sullivan will not be deterred.

In California, Jonathan, Argyle, El, Will ( Noah Schnapp ), and Mike ( Finn Wolfhard ) are on their way back from the skating rink. An extremely stoned Jonathan and Argyle try to make El feel better by saying that's why they make those wheels out of soft plastic: just in case someone gets "schmacked!" (Everyone needs a friend like Argyle.) They arrive at the Byers house and are surprised to see Murray ( Brett Gelman ) is there, making them a family dinner of risotto. He claims he was on his way to meet a client and just so happened to remember: the Byers live around here! Joyce ( Winona Ryder ) tells him she wishes he could stay longer, but she has that "business trip" in Alaska tomorrow. Will is confused because she never mentioned it until now, while Jonathan, on the other hand, is so high he confuses the wine for olive oil. Argyle tries to cover for him (because poor, sweet Joyce somehow doesn't realize her son has been enjoying some of those "smelly plants") and tells them he's just tired because they had a long night at the skating rink where some girl got schmacked by a roller skate, but she's going to be fine. Mike, who has been sulking since they left the rink (like the unsupportive boyfriend he is – El should dump his ass again), snarkily replies "she didn't look fine." El looks at him, hurt, and storms out of the room.

RELATED: 'Stranger Things' Season 4 Episode 2 Recap: Who Exactly Is Victor Creel?

The next morning, Mike brings El her Eggos from the breakfast table when she doesn't come down to eat. She is in her room fixing her diorama of her and Hop's ( David Harbour ) cabin. He sits on her bed, and they have a long-overdue talk. Mike asks her why she didn't tell him what was really going on in California. He's been bullied his whole life, so he knows what it's like. El tells him he can't understand because she is different. She doesn't belong here, or anywhere. Everyone looks at her like she's a monster, including him. When Mike protests, El says he looked at her back at the rink like he was scared of her. Not only that, she points out, but he can't even tell her that he loves her anymore. He can't even write it in a letter. She pulls out a stack of letters and angrily flips through each one – they all read " From Mike." Mike insists that she knows how he feels about her, and he can't let these "mouthbreathers" ruin them. They are nobodies, and she is a superhero. El shakes her head, and tells him "not anymore."

Because El hasn't suffered enough this morning, the cops show up at her door with a warrant. They arrest her for the great roller skate incident of 1986 and shove her in the back of their cop car, while Mike, Will, and Jonathan watch in stunned panic. Unfortunately for them, Joyce is already on the plane with Murray, about to take off for her "business trip," so there is nothing they can do but sit and wait while El gets questioned by the police. The cops tell El she doesn't seem too upset about what she did to Angela ( Elodie Grace Orkin ), who apparently has a grade two concussion. When they ask her if she wanted to kill Angela, El replies that she "doesn't know." (Just between us, it's okay if you did, El. She's the worst.) They fingerprint her and stick her in a van to send her off to a juvenile delinquent center. On their way, they are stopped by a federal agent who says they'll take it from here. Owens steps out of the car and greets a surprised El with, "Hey, kiddo."

Owens takes El to a diner and gives her the lowdown. A war is coming to Hawkins (again). El has fought this evil before and won, but it's like a virus: every time it returns, it comes back stronger, smarter, and deadlier. El's friends in Hawkins are in the eye of the storm, and this is Stranger Things , so Eleven is obviously their only hope of survival. He tells El that there are people who believe she is the cause, but he believes that she is the cure. He developed a program that has the potential to restore her abilities and maybe even make them stronger than they were before. However, he knows that El has spent her whole life being told what to do by men like him, so it is her choice now if she wants to go with him. El agrees, obviously, because she is a badass whom the world doesn't deserve.

In Russia, Hop is working on the railroad when he brazenly talks back to Enzo ( Tom Wlaschiha ), who drags him off for "punishment." Once they are out of sight, Enzo updates Hop and tells him that he heard from Joyce and that she will be arriving in Alaska tomorrow. It is up to Hop to find a way to make it to the plane to meet her there for the exchange. Hopper asks Enzo if he is absolutely sure they can trust his pilot, this supposed smuggler extraordinaire Yuri. Enzo reminds him they are literally doing a jailbreak, so, you know, beggars can't be choosers.

Hop bribes another prisoner with his meal to break his leg chains with a sledgehammer while they are on the tracks. The prisoner looks at him skeptically, calls him a "crazy American," but agrees. Later after Hop unwraps his feet, it becomes clear he wasn't asking for him to break the chains but to break his ankles enough so that he can just barely slip the chains over his horribly injured feet. (If Hop doesn't get to reunite with El after all of this, the Duffer Brothers have to pay for our subsequent therapy appointments.)

In Hawkins, Vecna is meditating and zeroing in on his next victim: Patrick ( Myles Truitt ), one of Lucas's teammates. Patrick, wincing at a sudden headache, is in the car with Jason ( Mason Dye ) and his boys, including a reluctant Lucas ( Caleb McLaughlin ), hunting for Eddie. They stop at a house where Eddie's bandmates and fellow Hellfire club members are practicing in the garage, and Jason starts beating up Gareth ( Gwydion Lashlee-Walton ), who finally tells them Dustin Henderson might know where Eddie is because he's been calling around looking for him. They pull up to Dustin's house, which is empty, and Lucas sneaks through the window of Dustin's room to walkie him and forewarn him. Jason and the rest of the team catch Lucas, and he quickly lies and tells them he found a clue that could point them to where Eddie is. He leads them to Hopper's cabin and abandons them when they aren't looking.

Meanwhile, Dustin, Max ( Sadie Sink ), Robin ( Maya Hawke ), and Steve visit Eddie at Reefer Rick's and deliver the bad news, which is that everyone is pretty convinced that he killed Chrissy ( Grace Van Dien ). The good news is, Dustin says, his name hasn't gone public so that gives them time to do the totally simple task of finding Vecna and proving Eddie's innocence. The gang tries to comfort a panicked Eddie by reminding him that this is not their first rodeo, although they used to have a girl with superpowers to help them out, but now they don't, so they're still in the "brainstorming phase." While they are talking, they see a bunch of cop cars speed by. They quickly hop in Steve's car and follow them to the scene of Vecna's latest crime, the road outside the trailer park where poor Fred's ( Logan Riley Bruner ) body lies twisted and mangled. A shaken Nancy ( Natalia Dyer ), who is talking to the cops, looks so relieved to see them.

They catch Nancy up on what they know. They realize that Chrissy and Fred acted strangely before their deaths and wonder if they might have seen Vecna before he killed them, like how a predator stalks its prey. Max remembers how Chrissy was coming out of the counselor's office the other day, which means maybe Ms. Kelly ( Regina Ting Chen ) knows something that could help them. Steve and Dustin drop Max off at Ms. Kelly's where she pretends she needed an impromptu "home" session, while Nancy and Robin go to the public library to follow a lead that Nancy calls a "shot in the dark."

Nancy fills Robin in on her Victor Creel theory but also seems inexplicably annoyed with her; Robin, in turn, picks up on the weird tension and asks if it has anything to do with Steve, whom she insists is only a friend, with a capital "P" for platonic. (Steve/Nancy shippers are rising this season, it looks like.) While looking through the basement archives, they come across an old article from The Weekly Watcher – a small press that writes about UFOs and Bigfoot and other "otherworldly" sightings. The article shares Victor Creel's side of the story. Victor claimed that his house was haunted by an ancient demon. His family hired a priest to do an exorcism, which not only failed but also made the demon angry, so it killed his family in retribution, leaving Victor alive as punishment. What if this demon, Nancy and Robin realize, was Vecna?

At Ms. Kelly's house, Max tries and fails to subtly get Ms. Kelly to tell her what Chrissy said to her during their sessions. Luckily, Max is able to snatch her office keys when she isn't looking, so she, Dustin, and Steve hightail it to school before she notices and break into her office files. While they are reading through Ms. Kelly's notes, a look of realization slowly passes over Max's face. Ms. Kelly wrote that Fred and Chrissy were both suffering from headaches, nosebleeds, nightmares, and past trauma – all of which Max has been suffering from herself. Right on schedule, she hears the chime of the clock and Vecna's gravelly, drawn-out voice calling out to her. She slowly walks down the school hallway and sees a clock inside the wall. Once again, Vecna calls out to her, and the camera zooms in on him charging up with his creepy-crawly tentacles. His eyes flash open, and the episode abruptly ends.

All Of Eleven’s Wonderfully ‘80s Outfits From Stranger Things Season 4

Her vintage look is very attainable.

mike wheeler and eleven hold hands at a skate rink wearing '80s clothes in stranger things season 4

In the fourth season of Netflix’s beloved Stranger Things , it’s 1986, and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is now living with the Byers family in California. Like seasons past, her wardrobe has changed drastically in new episodes. Throughout the season, Eleven, a.k.a El, a.k.a. Jane sports a combination of what seem to be hand-me-downs from her adoptive family, Joyce, Will, and Jonathan Byers. Essentially, a lot of flannel shirts, mixed with vintage tees, sweats, and mom jeans (literally).

According to the hit show’s costume designer Amy Parris, “she’s still figuring herself out” and, in the meantime, “her style is weird.” In a conversation with Netflix’s Tudum , Parris explained El’s style further. “She’d bought stuff with Max [in Season 3], but Max isn’t there with her to help her accessorize and guide her in how she might want to dress, so she’s uneasy,” she said.

The designer also revealed that, when prepping for season 4, she drew inspiration from Sarah Jessica Parker's character Patty Greene in the early-'80s sitcom Square Pegs . (Do yourself a favor and Google image search that quick.)

Ahead, we broke down all of Eleven’s delightfully whimsical outfits from season 4 of Stranger Things. Plus, lookalike pieces for you to shop.

We only include products that have been independently selected by Bustle's editorial team. However, we may receive a portion of sales if you purchase a product through a link in this article.

Grungy Basics

In the first episode, Eleven wears a teen look so timeless, it could easily be from 2022. She donned a vintage graphic tee and colorful sweats, complete with a flannel shirt she definitely copped from Joyce’s closet.

Parris shared that when Millie Bobby Brown first stepped onto the set in this look, she told her: “Well, I don’t really feel like myself, but I think that’s good.”

"Strawberry Festival" T-Shirt

Quirky Layers

In a roller rink scene, Eleven strangely (pun very much intended) paired a drop-waist dress featuring a funky striped design over a plaid button-up. It’s a mystifying layering choice, to say the least — but, hey, that’s just where Eleven’s at right now. She styled the bemusing ‘fit with classic white crew socks and a pair of vintage sneaks that she wears throughout the season.

LA Hearts Flannel Button Down Boyfriend Shirt

Sporty Stripes

In a sporty, blue striped rugby-style shirt and sweatpants, El nails the relaxed-cool vibe, yet again. I guarantee you she plucked this entire outfit from one of her new brothers’ closets.

More Mixed Prints

This outfit brings another quote from Parris to mind. “There's times where I was like, ‘This is so bizarre,’ but I think that's the right feeling because she doesn't know where she's going,” she told Tudum.

Eleven rocked another flannel (this time of the blue variety), which she layers over a floral print waffle shirt and a navy V-neck. White mom jeans, likely stolen from her actual mom, complete the casual look.

'Revival' series set at Syfy

Syfy has given a series order to Revival , a drama based on the comic book series of the same name, for a 2025 debut. The announcement was part of Syfy’s upcoming slate reveal ahead of the NBCU upfront presentation Monday.

It also included Reginald the Vampire , starring Jacob Batalon, whose second season premiered May 8, and The Ark , whose second season will follow this summer.

2024 Premiere Dates For New & Returning Series On Broadcast, Cable & Streaming

As Deadline reported exclusively earlier this week , there are talks about the sci-fi series starring Alan Tudyk moving from Syfy to NBCU cable sibling USA Network, with a return to Syfy for Season 4 unlikely.

Produced by Canadian company Blue Ice Pictures, Revival is set on one miraculous day in rural Wisconsin when the recently deceased suddenly rise from their graves. But this is no zombie story as the “revived” appear and act just like they once were. When local Officer and single mother Dana Cypress is unexpectedly thrown into the center of a brutal murder mystery of her own, she’s left to make sense of the chaos amidst a town gripped by fear and confusion where everyone, alive or undead, is a suspect.

Lance Samuels, Daniel Iron, Samantha Levine, Daniel March, Luke Boyce and Aaron Koontz serve as executive producers.

Cubs vs. Pirates prediction, odds, pick – 5/11/2024

T he Chicago Cubs will continue their three-game series with the Pittsburgh Pirates on Saturday at PNC Park. We’re here to share our MLB odds series , make a Cubs-Pirates prediction, and pick while showing you how to watch.

The Cubs are doing well this season. They are hanging around the top of the National League Central. Overall, they have gone 4-4 over the first eight games of the month. The Cubs will play seven games against the Pirates over an 11-day span.

The Pirates are playing mediocre baseball at the moment. Somehow, they lost two of three at home to the lowly Los Angeles Angels. The Pirates are just 3-4 over the first seven games of the month. Now, they hope to gain some ground in their division as they meet the Cubs over the next two weekends.

Justin Steele starts for the Cubs. He is 0-0 with a 0.96 ERA. Recently, he tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings while allowing three hits and striking out two against the San Diego Padres.

Paul Skenes makes his major league debut on Saturday. He is a 21-year-old who posted a 0.99 ERA while throwing 27 1/3 innings. Significantly, he was the first overall pick for the Pirates in the 2023 draft. Skenes is ready to rock in his first outing.

Here are the MLB Odds , courtesy of FanDuel.

Why The Cubs Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Cubs have been inconsistent on offense this season. So far, they are 20th in batting average and 16th in slugging percentage. But the Cubs are also 13th in on-base percentage, 12th in runs, and ninth in home runs.

Nico Hoerner entered the weekend with a batting average of .273 with one home run, 10 RBIs, and 21 runs. Substantially, he has pounded the Pirates throughout his career, generating a mark of .371 with three home runs, 27 RBIs, and 29 runs over 39 games against them. Cody Bellinger has been inconsistent this season, hitting .239 with six home runs, 18 RBIs, and 11 runs. Moreover, he has struggled against the Pirates, batting .257 with nine home runs, 33 RBIs, and 32 runs over 36 showdowns.

Christopher Morel is having a bad start to the season. Currently, he is batting just .211 with eight home runs, 24 RBIs, and 21 runs. Morel is also clipping just .231 with three home runs, nine RBIs, and 10 runs over 20 games against the Pirates. Ian Happ is hitting .225 with one home run, 12 RBIs, and 18 runs. On the flip side, he loves facing the Pirates. Happ is batting .320 with 17 home runs, 62 RBIs, and 58 runs through 95 games against Pittsburgh.

The pitching staff has done slightly better. Significantly, the Cubs are 13th in team ERA. But the bullpen has struggled. Unfortunately, they are 22nd in team ERA.

The Cubs will cover the spread if the offense can generate some scoring chances and make Skene’s first start a nightmare. Then, they need Steele to pitch well.

Why The Pirates Will Cover The Spread/Win

The Pirates have struggled mightily in offense, ranking just 27th in batting average and runs, 22nd in on-base percentage, 28th in home runs, and just 29th in slugging percentage.

Andrew McCutchen is having an awful start to the season. Sadly, he is hitting just .184 with three home runs, seven RBIs, and 11 runs. McCutchen is batting .282 with 28 home runs, 104 RBIs, and 107 runs over 188 career games against the Pirates. Meanwhile, Bryan Reynolds hopes to contribute. Reynolds is hitting just .240 with four home runs, 17 RBIs, and 15 tuns this season. Additionally, he is batting just .257 with eight home runs, 26 RBIs, and 39 runs over 69 games against the Cubs.

Oneil Cruz is hitting only .252 with five home runs, 15 RBIs, and five runs this season. Likewise, he has not done well against the Cubs, batting .237 with one home run, 10 RBIs, and seven runs over nine games against the Cubs. Rowdy Tellez is continually whiffing, batting just .200 with one home run, eight RBIs, and eight runs. Moreover, he has struggled against the Pirates, hitting just .239 with six home runs, 15 RBIs, and 14 runs over 31 games.

The pitching staff has kept this team afloat. Currently, the Pirates rank 11th in team ERA. The bullpen has had mixed results. Ultimately, they rank 16th in team ERA.

The Pirates will cover the spread if their lineup springs to life. Then, they need a good debut from Skenes.

Final Cubs-Pirates Prediction & Pick

We knew this day would come. Now, it is here. Many project Skenes to be an amazing pitcher with a five-tool repertoire. Furthermore, they believe he can become an ace fast. The Cubs also have an emerging ace in Steele. Therefore, it might be a day when both offenses struggle to hit the baseball. Look for Steele to shine for the Cubs and Skenes to flourish in his first career start. Consequently, it will mean much less scoring than usual. The under prevails.
