What is the Minimum Size for a QR Code in a Presentation?

Technically, QR codes shouldn’t be downsized below 1 cm x 1 cm (0.4 in x 0.4 in), as scanners won’t be able to decode the information. Our experience tells us it’s best to stick to a minimum size of 3 cm by 3cm. 

Can QR codes track how many times they’ve been scanned?

Depending on the QR code generator you used, yes, sometimes it’s possible, although that’s mostly a premium, paid feature. 

Can QR codes in presentations be customized in design?

Yes, we can change the colors and add logos in the center of the QR codes.

Can I change the URL linked to my QR code after it’s created?

That depends on whether you work with a dynamic QR code or not. Static QR codes won’t work for reassigning a new URL, whereas dynamic can point to any URL you desire and change in real-time (they won’t change their structure, just the hyperlink).

Can I reuse the same QR code for different presentations?

Yes, but only if you work with dynamic QR codes or if your presentation requirements don’t involve changing the link in the QR code. Be sure to check if there’s no link expiration date.

Presenters can place the QR code at a footer or sidebar in the slide design, integrating the background color of the QR code with the visual aid used to highlight it. The code itself cannot be animated, requiring a specific static structure to be scanned. This doesn’t imply that presentations cannot be animated if using QR codes. Consider them as image elements and place these codes accordingly without worrying about animation effects.

Ideally, 30 seconds or more. You need to consider the reaction time of your audience to scan the code.

You can use as many different color combinations as you can imagine, although it is required to preserve a strong contrast between the background and the color code. How to Create QR Codes in PowerPoint

Sharing shortcut: create QR codes in PowerPoint! If you are speaking at a conference, doing training, or speaking in the classroom, instead of collecting everyone’s email to share your slides, a survey, or extra information, use a QR Code! Your audience can scan the code to be taken right to the information instead of waiting for an email from you later.  

In this article, there are two different ways to create QR codes in PowerPoint: 

• To share information within the presentation  
• To share the entire PowerPoint at the end of a presentation 

Skip head or use both depending on what you are looking to share! The first is for sharing any added external information with your audience, like leading them to a survey, activity, video, or extra instructions you want them to take a look at, and the second way allows you to share your entire PPT file as a PDF to your audience via QR code. 

How to Create QR Codes to Share Information 

What you need: qr4office powerpoint add-in  .

First up, to begin creating a custom QR code to share any information with our audience, you will first need the QR4Office PowerPoint add-in. In PowerPoint, go to the Insert tab, then click Get Add-In , and search “ QR ”. Find QR4Office and select it. 

Now, in your add-ins, you see QR4Office. The Microsoft Store has a ton of add-ins, and we have actually rounded up our favorite PowerPoint add-ins if you want to discover more! The side panel will open and you can begin creating your QR code. Copy the link to the information you want to share with your audience. This could be a survey, a video, an activity, extra reading, etc. Then, just paste the link into the box.

Next to the box, you will see the drop-down menu containing the different types of links or information that you can turn into a QR code. Select the type of link you are using. (You can select Custom if you are not sure.)  

Now, you can customize the color and size of the QR code as needed. Once you are ready, hit OK and the QR code will be placed on your slide. Now, your audience can scan the code right from your presentation and get the extra information. (You will be able to edit size and location once it is on your slide too!) 

This QR4Office add-in can also be used in Excel and Word! Also, these QR codes are an image, so feel free to copy and paste where you please outside of PowerPoint.  

Create a QR Code to Share PowerPoint as PDF 

What you need: classpoint powerpoint add-in  .

To avoid sharing edit mode, disconnect from the projector or stop sharing your screen when you are finished presenting, then go ahead and exit presentation mode and click the Share PDF icon in the Inknoe ClassPoint ribbon. Now, anyone who has joined your class will automatically receive your PPT file on the spot, and can choose to save it, no scanning is needed!

Add a QR code to your presentation

By now, you’ve probably seen QR codes in many places. You may even have used them. They’re still fairly new.

What’s a QR code?

A QR code is a square image — usually black and white — that works something like a barcode that you see on products in a store. The code contains a link, usually to a URL. Then you use a QR reader app on a smart phone, which scans the QR code and displays the URL as a link, so you can visit the page. A QR code can also lead to text, a phone number or SMS (texting).

Why would a presenter want a QR code?

Do you put your website’s URL on your first and last slides? Email address? Twitter name? A QR code is just another way of letting people connect with you.  A QR code is a connection between offline (your presentation) and online but it has a technological connection that text on your slide doesn’t have — people with a QR reader on their smart phone can capture your URL without having to write it down.

How to create a QR code

There are several free services that create QR codes for you. Some have paid versions that offer more features, such as analytics to help you keep track of how many people are using your QR code. Here are a couple of free services:

• Kaywa QR code

The procedure is pretty simple. You may have a few options but basically you enter the URL and download the image. You can use that image anywhere. Here’s a QR code that I created with GoQR.me that links to my e-store. I set this one to be 200×200 pixels.

How to insert a QR code on a PowerPoint slide

Inserting a QR code on a slide is as simple as inserting a picture. Go to Insert> Picture and navigate to the file that you downloaded. You can resize the image if you want, but remember that it should be large enough so that people can scan it from their seat.  I’m not aware of any specs regarding how large a QR code has to be, but when I stood 5 feet away from my monitor and scanned from this blog post, the app didn’t work. From 2-3 feet, I had no problem. Of course, your QR code will probably be projected on a screen that makes it larger. I would certainly test it from the back row before using it!

How your audience can use your QR code

People in the audience need a QR scanning app. I used QR Droid, but there are many available.  On a smart phone, you go to the App store and search for QR reader or QR scanner, then download the app of your choice.

Once you have the app, you open it and it contains a thin line. To scan the QR code, you hold up the phone to the QR code and move the line across the image. Then, the URL that was set up appears on the screen. Here’s how it looks on my Droid 4.

You can simply click the link to go to the webpage on your phone, but you can also share the link. For example, audience members might want to send the URL to themselves by e-mail so they can go to your webpage later.

Either way, you succeeded in getting your audience to your website where they can find more information.

How do I create a PowerPoint QR Code?

1. upload the powerpoint presentation, 2. activate the sharing option for the file, 3. copy the sharing link, 4. create a qr code, 5. design the qr code, 6. include the qr code in documents, 7. add a call-2-action.

If you are speaking on a conference and you have reached the end of your presentation you can easily share your documents with your audience, using a PowerPoint QR Code . By scanning the QR code, your listeners will be taken directly to the PowerPoint presentation on their smartphone.

If you have not yet put your presentation online, the free cloud solution from Microsoft OneDrive is a suitable solution.

There you have up to 5 GB of storage space – enough for your entire PowerPoint supply.

First, upload your PowerPoint presentation to the OneDrive cloud, by clicking on Upload and then on Files .

In the next step, click on the ⋮ icon next to the PowerPoint file and then on Share

A dialog now opens where you can copy the share link at the bottom left.

The copied link is quite long, so a dynamic QR Code is ideal for linking. A short URL is automatically generated from the long URL and encoded in the QR Code. This has the advantage that it has fewer pixels and it is therefore easier to read.

To create a dynamic QR Code, log into your account or  create a new one . Now generate a new QR Code with the copied URL by clicking on “New QR Code” and pasting it into the first field:

After you have clicked on “Create QR Code”, the created QR Code is now available in your account. You can see how often the QR Code was scanned or change the link to another PowerPoint presentation at any time without having to reprint the QR Code.

In the last step, you can give the QR Code an even livelier look. Simply click on the QR Code and select a design option. Now you can assign your own colors or color gradients to the code and choose other shapes instead of the square blocks. A logo in the middle of the QR Code is also possible. But be careful: Always test the QR Code extensively to see whether it is readable. Too many design elements can make the QR Code difficult to read and the camera can no longer decode it.

You can now download the QR Code in various formats. Vector formats (PDF, SVG or EPS) are well suited for printing, as they can be printed out in any size without becoming pixelated or blurred. The PNG format is well suited for digital documents such as the PowerPoint presentation itself. For example, integrate the QR Code on the last page:

Never forget to add a call-2-action next to the QR Code that explains to the user why he should scan the QR Code or where the QR Code leads him. A QR Code alone does not tempt anyone to scan it if it is not clear what additional value it has ready.

How To Use QR Codes in Your Presentation

You can do a lot with great presentation design. But what if you need to give your audience more content or linked material, but you don’t want to clutter up your slide deck? You can use QR codes.

QR codes offer great options for letting your audience engage with your presentation at a greater depth on their own time, for extending the reach of your presentation and your brand, and for saving money on printed materials. So today we’ll be covering the steps to easily add QR codes in PowerPoint and Canva, and we’ll cover some ways to use them.

How to Insert a QR Code into a PowerPoint Presentation

It’s really simple to create a QR code from inside PowerPoint when you follow these steps:

1. Click on the Insert menu.

2. Click on Get Add-Ins.

3. Type in QR Code .

4. Find QR4Office and click Add . (You have other options here, but we like QR4Office because you don’t have to create an account to use it.) You’ll see a QR menu come up on the right side of your screen.

5. From here, you can personalize your code. The drop-down menu lets you choose the type of URL/text you want to use. Now, just enter your URL or link.

6. You can customize your colors in the options box.

7. Then click Insert , and you’re done!

Now that you have your QR code on your slide, you can reposition or resize it just like you would any other design element.

How to Insert a QR Code into a Canva Presentation

Using QR Codes in Canva presentations is also really simple. From within your presentation, just follow these steps:

1. Click on Apps in the lefthand design menu.

2. Either search for QR or scroll down to find the QR Code generator on the list of apps.

3. Enter your URL/link.

4. Use the customize drop-down menu to change the colors and margin size.

5. Then click Generate QR Code .

Just like in PowerPoint, once you’ve created a QR code, it will function on the page like any other design element.

Some Ways to Use QR Codes in Your Presentations

Now that you know how easy it is to create QR codes and add them to your presentation, it’s time to start dreaming of all the ways you can use them. Here are just a few ideas to get you started:

1. Accessibility to your presentation.

For users who might have trouble seeing your presentation on a large screen, you can create a QR code on one of your first slides that lets them access your slide deck up close on a personal device. Or, you might simply want to make your slide deck available to your audience after you’ve walked them through it, so a code on the last slide gives them that access.

2. Drilling down into content .

For content that is too lengthy or detailed to put on a slide, you can include a QR code on those slides where users might want to “drill down” farther into the content. For example, if you want to give your audience access to research without spending a lot of time on it during your presentation, offer them a QR code.

3. Inviting participation .

QR codes are a great way to increase audience participation. Maybe you are taking a quick live poll and want to make it easy for the audience to access it. Or, you want to get feedback from your audience following the presentation. Or, you are asking your audience to sign up for something (a volunteer opportunity, an email list, etc.). All of these can easily be accomplished with a simple QR code.

4. Making your brand known .

QR codes are also an easy way to link to your company’s website or social media platforms to your presentation. With a simple “learn more about our brand” above a QR code, you can efficiently and effectively direct traffic where you want it.

QR codes allow you to extend the reach of your presentation.  Think about how you can save time and money using QR codes rather than printing materials, while at the same time offering a way for your audience to actively participate with your presentation.

Use office online in a browser; it's free, sign up for a free one-month trial, get office free as a student or teacher, try the mobile apps on phones and small ipads, join someone's microsoft 365 home plan, free microsoft office alternatives, key takeaways.

There are a few ways to get Microsoft Office for free: You can use Office for free in your browser, you can sign up for a one-month free trial, or you may get access through your educational institution if you’re a student or teacher.

Microsoft Office normally starts at $70 per year, but there are quite a few ways to get it for free. We'll show you all the ways you can get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other Office applications without paying a cent.

Whether you're using a Windows PC, Mac, or Chromebook, you can use Microsoft Office for free in a web browser. The web-based versions of Office are simplified and won't work offline, but they still offer a powerful editing experience. You can open and create Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents right in your browser.

To access these free web apps, just head to Office.com and sign in with a free Microsoft account. Click an application icon—like Word, Excel, or PowerPoint—to open the web version of that application.

You can also drag and drop a file from your computer onto the Office.com page. It will be uploaded to your Microsoft account's free OneDrive storage, and you can open it in the associated application.

Office's web applications have some limitations. These applications aren't quite as full featured as the classic Office desktop applications for Windows and Mac, and you can't access them offline. But they do offer surprisingly powerful Office applications, and they're completely free.

If you just need Microsoft Office for a short period of time, you can sign up for a one-month free trial. To find this offer, head to Microsoft's Try Microsoft 365 for free website, and sign up for the trial.

You will have to provide a credit card to sign up for the trial, and it will automatically renew after the month. However, you can cancel your subscription at any time—even right after signing up—to ensure you won't get billed. You can continue using Office for the rest of your free month after canceling.

After joining the trial, you can download full versions of these Microsoft Office applications for Windows PCs and Macs. You'll also get access to the full versions of the apps on other platforms, including larger iPads.

This trial will give you full access to a Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) Home plan. You'll get Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and 1TB of storage in OneDrive. You can share it with up to five other people. They'll each get access to the apps via their Microsoft account, and will have their own 1TB of storage for a combined 6TB of storage.

Microsoft also offers free 30-day evaluations of Microsoft 365 for Business , which is intended for businesses. You might be able to take advantage of both offers for two months of free Microsoft Office access.

Many educational institutions pay for Office 365 plans, allowing students and teachers to download the software for free.

To find out if your school participates, head to the Office 365 Education website, and enter your school email address. You'll be offered a free download if it's available to you through your school's plan.

Even if a university or college doesn't participate, it may offer Microsoft Office at a reduced cost to students and teachers through its bookstore. Check with your educational institution—or at least look on its website—for more details.

Microsoft's Office apps are free on smartphones, too. On an iPhone or Android phone, you can download the Office mobile apps to open, create, and edit documents for free.

On an iPad or Android tablet, these apps will only let you create and edit documents if you have a "device with a screen size smaller than 10.1 inches." On a larger tablet, you can install these apps to view documents, but you'll need a paid subscription to create and edit them.

In practice, this means Word, Excel, and PowerPoint offer a full experience for free on the iPad Mini and older 9.7-inch iPads. You'll need a paid subscription to get document-editing capabilities an iPad Pro or newer 10.2-inch iPads.

Microsoft 365 Home subscriptions are meant to be shared among multiple people. The $70 per year version offers Office for a single person, while the $100 per year subscription offers Office for up to six people. You'll get the full experience, with Office for Windows PCs, Macs, iPads, and other devices.

Anyone who pays for Microsoft 365 Home (formerly known as Office 365 Home) can share it with up to five other Microsoft accounts. It's very convenient: Sharing is managed through an Office "Sharing" page on Microsoft's account website. The main owner of the account can add five other Microsoft accounts, and each of those accounts will receive an invitation link.

After joining the group, each person can sign in with their own Microsoft account to download the Office apps—just as if they were paying for their own subscriptions. Each account will have a separate 1TB of OneDrive storage.

Microsoft says the subscription is meant for sharing among your "household." So, if you have a family member or even a roommate with this service, that person can add you to their subscription for free.

The Home plan is definitely the best deal if you're going to pay for Microsoft Office. If you can split a $100 per year subscription among six people, that's under $17 every year per person.

By the way, Microsoft partners with some employers to offer a discount on Office subscriptions for their employees. Check Microsoft's Home Use Program website to see if you qualify for a discount.

If you're looking for something else, consider choosing a different office application. There are completely free office suites that sport good compatibility with Microsoft Office documents, spreadsheets, and presentation files. Here are some of the best:

• LibreOffice is a free and open-source office application for Windows, Mac, Linux, and other operating systems. It's similar to the desktop versions of Microsoft Office , and it can even work with and create Office documents in common file types like DOCX documents, XLSX spreadsheets, and PPTX presentations. LibreOffice was based on OpenOffice. While OpenOffice is still around, LibreOffice has more developers and is now the more popular project. You can even make LibreOffice look like Microsoft Office .
• Apple iWork is a free collection of office applications for Mac, iPhone, and iPad users. This is Apple's competitor to Microsoft Office, and it used to be paid software before Apple made it free. Windows PC users can access a web-based version of iWork through the iCloud website, too.
• Google Docs is a capable collection of web-based office software. It stores your files in Google Drive , Google's online file storage service. Unlike Microsoft's Office web apps, you can even access Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides offline in Google Chrome.

There are many other alternatives, but these are some of the best.

If you just don't want to pay a monthly fee, you can still purchase a boxed copy of Microsoft Office. However, Office Home & Student 2021 costs $150, and you can only install it on one device.

Microsoft is slated to release a standalone version of Office 2024 , but it has not been released yet. Be sure to keep an eye out for it.

You won't get a free upgrade to the next major version of Office, either. If you're going to pay for Office, the subscription is probably the best deal —especially if you can split a paid plan with other people.

How to Scan QR Code on Phone Without Using Another Phone

• Take a screenshot of the QR code received via email, Messages, etc., to show in the Photos app.
• For iPhone, open the QR code picture in the Photos app and long-press the QR code.
• For Android, use the Google Lens in the Google app or Google search widget and select the picture.

Note : Both iPhone and Android can scan QR codes on the phone. If you receive a photo or PDF with a QR code via an email, messages app, or via other chat apps, take its screenshot for it to appear in the Photos app. Then, use the following methods.

Method 1: Using the Photos App (iPhone)

Step 1: Open the photo or the screenshot having the QR code in the Photos app.

Step 2 : Long-press on the QR code . Select Open in Safari.

A few tips to keep in mind:

• If the above steps don’t work, tap on the Live Text icon at the bottom-right corner of the picture and tap on the QR code to scan it.
• Ensure Live Text is enabled in iPhone Settings > General > Language & Region > Live Text .
• This feature works on iOS 15+ only.
• You can also use Google Lens via the Google app or Google Photos app to scan the QR codes without using another phone. The steps are similar to those shown in the Android method below.
• If you prefer using shortcuts, try the  QR Reader from Images shortcut .

Method 2: Using Google Lens (Android)

Google Lens is a service that can find similar images, scan QR codes, copy text from images , and much more. It can be accessed in the following ways:

Way 1: From Google App

Open the pre-installed Google app and tap on the Camera (Lens) icon in the search bar. Grant the permissions if asked, Then, select the photo with the QR code from the pictures at the bottom. Tap the QR code to open the associated link.

Way 2: Using Search Widget

On many phones, you will also find the Lens icon in the Google search widget on the home screen. Simply tap the Lens icon and select the image with the QR code. Then, tap the QR code. Learn how to add the Google search widget to the home screen on iPhone and Android.

Method 3: Using QR Code Tile (Samsung Phones)

In addition to Google Lens, Samsung phones have a QR code quick tile that allows users to scan QR codes without using another phone.

Step 1: Swipe down twice to open the Quick Settings panel . Then, tap on the Scan QR code tile .

Step 2 : Press the Gallery icon and select the image to read the QR code.

Step 3 : Then, drag the selection box to include the QR code and press the Done button to see the results.

Note: If the Scan QR code tile doesn’t show up, you must add it first. For that, edit the Quick Settings panel and drag the Scan QR code into the list of active tiles.

Method 4: Using Third-Party Apps (All Devices)

Typically, you shouldn’t need third-party apps, as the native methods will work fine. But if a situation arises, try the following third-party apps on your phone. Install the app and select the picture.

• QR & Barcode Reader  (Android)
• QR Code Reader & QR Scanner  (iOS)
• webqr.com  (Online)

How do I sign in to Skype?

Open Skype and click or tap Skype name, email or phone .

Enter your Skype name, email or phone and select Sign in .

One fan might have found a very tricky clue hidden in the code on Monday's Raw. This clue might reveal the return date of Uncle Howdy and the debut of his new faction.

@Wyattcrimson6 on Twitter posted a screenshot from one part of the message on Monday's episode of Raw. It only flashed for a brief moment and inside that image was another message that the account admits took quite some time to find. The account shared the photo, along with the description, "like the backlash QR code we got these roman numbers V-XXV which are 5-25 the date of king and queen of the ring in Saudi Arabia and its also the birthday of Taylor Rotunda[uncle howdy]."

One can deduce this clue either identifies Uncle Howdy as the person behind the messages since it's Bo Dallas' birthday or, the date is the debut of the group at WWE's presentation of King and Queen of the Ring. If the latter, it's going to be a huge moment for the Saudi crowd and fans who have been eagerly awaiting what comes next will finally get some sort of answer.

Rumors suggest that Uncle Howdy (whose coat was seemingly shown in the latest video) is putting together a group that consists of Erick Rowan, Nikki Cross, Joey Gacy, Dexter Lumis, and himself. It's not clear if the group has a name, but most believe it will in tribute to Bray Wyatt, who sadly passed away and was adored by the Saudi audience, where the Fiend had some pretty big moments.

Inspect the Code : Scammers may use tactics that mirror a legitimate QR code. Take a moment to examine the QR code closely. Look for any signs of tampering, unusual colors, or misspellings. If something seems suspicious, it’s best to avoid scanning the QR code.

Be Cautious of Unsolicited QR Codes : Avoid scanning unsolicited QR codes received via email or text message. Be aware of codes from unknown sources. We will never send a QR code via text or email asking you to confirm your information.

Be Aware of Urgent Requests Using QR Codes : Fraudsters often pretend to be government officials and use fake QR codes to defraud people. For example, a scammer may pose as a Social Security employee claiming that you have an outstanding debt or there’s a problem with your account and demanding immediate payment. A scammer may send fake QR codes via text or email requesting the payment. Remember, Social Security will never request any form of payment using a QR code.

Stay Informed : Stay up to date on the latest QR code fraud and scams. Follow trusted sources such as cybersecurity blogs, news outlets, and official government websites for updates.
