How to Make Sashimi in Stardew Valley

Since Sashimi is a cooked dish in Stardew Valley , it can only be prepared in the Kitchen of an upgraded Farmhouse or by using a Cookout Kit. The recipe for Sashimi is obtained from the humble old man, Linus, who resides in a Tent on The Mountain.

When players reach a three-heart Friendship with Linus, he sends them the recipe for Sashimi via Mail. Players can increase their Friendship levels with Linus by giving him gifts that he likes . To make Sashimi, players only need 1 Fish of any kind .

  • Once players have fish inside their Fridge, they simply need to right-click on the cooker and select the Sashimi icon.
  • Alternatively, Sashimi can occasionally be found in the Stardrop Saloon’s rotating stock or Krobus’ Shop on Saturdays. Linus may occasionally send the player one Sashimi in the mail as a gift.

Best Fish to Turn into Sashimi

Sashimi is a dish that consists of thinly sliced raw fish. To make it profitable, it’s best to use fish worth less than 75 gold. For players without the Fisher or Angler professions, the following fish yield the highest profits when transformed into Sashimi:

The player’s profession and the quality of the fish directly influence the profits gained.

Uses of Sashimi

Besides being a convenient snack that replenishes energy by 75 points and health by 33 points, Sashimi makes a wonderful gift for Sebastian.

Sashimi is also part of the “Pierre’s Notice” quest. Pierre sends the player a Mail requesting Sashimi on Spring 21, Year 2. Completing this quest rewards players with 1,000 gold and 1 Friendship Heart .

Stardew Valley is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

How to Get Sashimi in Stardew Valley

Sashimi Recipe, Stardew Valley

Sashimi is one of the most valuable dishes in the Stardew Valley . It can be quite confusing to make, since it is a finished dish and not a raw material. But you don’t have to be afraid. If you know how to get the recipe of sashimi and the ingredients you need, you can easily make this dish. This guide will answer all the questions you have in mind about Sashimi. So let’s take a look at How to Get Sashimi in Stardew Valley.

How to Learn Sashimi Recipe

Sashimi is one of the hundreds of dishes you can make in Stardew Valley. Of course you need the recipe before you can make it. You can get that recipe from Linus , one of the funniest NPCs in the game. To get the recipe for Sashimi in Stardew Valley, your friendship with Linus needs to be at least three stars. As soon as you reach this level, Linus will send you a mail with the recipe. You can have the Sashimi recipe by checking your mailbox as you always do.

If you don’t know how to improve your friendship with Linus, don’t worry. Let’s talk about that quickly. The friendship system in Stardew Valley is usually determined by the gifts you give them. There are gifts that every NPC likes and dislikes. Since the list is long, I will not write them all, but if you want to be a close friend of Linus, you can give him the following gifts:

  • Blueberry Tart
  • Cacturs Fruit
  • Dish o’ The Sea

Linus loves the gifts above. Of course, you will have to spend some time and collect other items to get these gifts. But it’s definitely worth it to reach for the Sashimi recipe. Also, Linus is such a sweet person. Now that you have learned how to befriend Linus and got the Sashimi recipe, you’re ready to make some delicious dinner.

Linus' Tent, Stardew Valley

How to Make Sashimi

After receiving Sashimi recipe from Linus, you should decide by what method to cook it. Although both methods are almost the same challenge, you can choose the first one if you want a more permanent solution.

  • Upgraded Farmhouse Kitchen: In Stardew Valley, you need to upgrade your house to open the kitchen. While this is easy to make, you will need some supplies: 10K Gold and 450 Wood. When you upgrade your house, the kitchen will be available so you can make Sashimi.
  • Cookout Kit:  The most practical way to make Sashimi in Stardew Valley is to make it yourself using the Cookout Kit. To make this kit you need the following items: 15 Wood, 10 Fiber and 3 Coal. When you have these ingredients and your foraging ability is at least level 9, craft the Cookout Kit and craft Sashimi.

If you don’t want the hassle of making your own, you can buy Sashimi at local grocery stores. This will be costly in the long run, but may make sense for short-term solutions. If you go to Krobus on Saturdays you can find Sashimi.

You can also buy it when Stardrop Saloon has them in stock.

Cooking in Stardew Valley: Unlocking, Recipes, & Making Dishes

Unlocking Cooking

How to cook, useful recipes.

If you've been exploring Pelican Town in Stardew Valley, you may have learned some recipes. But how do you cook these recipes? After you upgrade your farmhouse, you will have access to your very own kitchen where you can cook up dishes that can restore your health and stamina, give you buffs, or can be given as gifts to other people around town. In this article, we'll explain how to cook in Stardew Valley.

Things You Should Know

  • Cooking is unlocked once you've upgraded your farmhouse for the first time, which adds a kitchen to your house.
  • You can get recipes by watching TV, befriending townspeople, increasing your skill levels, and buying them from shopkeepers.
  • The stove can only use ingredients that are stored in your inventory, in the fridge, or in your mini-fridge.

Cooking is unlocked after upgrading the farmhouse for the first time.

  • Only ingredients in your inventory, your fridge, or your mini-fridge (a furnishing item) can be used to cook items on the stove.
  • You can also use the Cookout Kit to cook anywhere, which is unlocked at Foraging level 9. The Cookout Kit is made of 15 wood, 10 fiber, and 3 coal. Any Cookout Kits placed will disappear overnight.

Step 1 Obtain a recipe.

  • You can learn 32 recipes from watching The Queen of Sauce on TV. New episodes of The Queen of Sauce air every Sunday in Year 1 and Year 2, and reruns that feature a random recipe play every Wednesday. [1] X Research source
  • 37 recipes can be learned by befriending other people in town. The requirements to unlock each recipe vary, but many villagers will give you recipes at three hearts and seven hearts.
  • You get 7 recipes for leveling up your skills. These recipes usually help increase your stats when you are using those skills, so they're good to learn. [2] X Research source
  • 4 recipes can be purchased from vendors in the game, though some of these vendors are not unlocked until you've completed another task (such as getting to the volcano dungeon or opening the island resort).

Step 2 Check the recipe's ingredients.

  • Ingredients in black text are available in your inventory, fridge, or mini-fridge. If an ingredient is highlighted in red, it is missing.
  • If a dish says ??? when you hover it, you haven't learned the recipe to make that dish yet.

Step 3 Gather the ingredients.

  • Growing them on your farm via crops or tree fruit
  • Gathering them from your livestock
  • Making artisan goods such as cheese or mayonnaise
  • Foraging items from around Pelican Town
  • Catching fish or gathering crab pot animals
  • Buying items from the store
  • Making a dish that becomes an ingredient in another dish
  • There are two miscellaneous ingredients: maple syrup and squid ink. Maple syrup is gathered from a tapped maple tree and is used to make maple bars. Squid ink is dropped by squid kids or gathered from a fish pond containing squid or midnight squid and is used to make seafoam pudding and squid ink ravioli. [3] X Research source

Step 4 Click on the stove, then click on the dish you want to make.

  • If one of the ingredients is red but you know you have it, check your chests. The stove can only use ingredients that are in your inventory, in the fridge, or in your mini-fridge.

Almost every recipe will restore health and stamina.

  • Pumpkin Soup : Obtained after raising friendship with Robin to 7 hearts. Requires 1 pumpkin and 1 milk. Gives you a +2 defense buff and +2 luck buff for 7 minutes and 41 seconds.
  • Complete Breakfast : Obtained from the Queen of Sauce on 21 Spring, Year 2. Requires 1 fried egg, 1 milk, 1 hashbrowns, and 1 pancakes. Gives you a +2 farming buff and +50 maximum energy for 7 minutes.
  • Lobster Bisque : Obtained from the Queen of Sauce on 14 Winter, Year 2, or from Willy after getting his friendship to 9 hearts. Requires 1 lobster and 1 milk. Gives you a +3 fishing buff and +50 maximum energy for 16 minutes and 47 seconds.
  • Banana Pudding : Obtained from the Island Trader for 30 Bone Fragments. Requires 1 banana, 1 milk, and 1 sugar. Gives you a +1 mining, luck, and defense buff for 5 minutes and 1 second.
  • Miner's Treat : Obtained by getting your mining skill to level 3. Requires 1 cave carrot, 1 sugar, and 1 milk. Gives you a +1 mining buff and +32 magnetism for 5 minutes and 35 seconds.

Stardew Valley Bream

How to Catch Bream in Stardew Valley

Image of Laura-May Randell

Catching fish can be tricky in Stardew Valley, especially since some are only available in certain weather, time frames, and seasons. If you need a Bream to complete the Night Fishing Bundle in the Community Center but aren’t sure when or where to get one, we’ve got you covered in this Bream guide for Stardew Valley.

When and Where to Catch Bream in Stardew Valley

Out of all the fish in Stardew Valley, Bream is one of the easiest to catch. You can find them in Rivers like the Cindersap Forest River or the Pelican Town River after 6:00 PM year-round. Unlike other fish that can only be found in certain seasons or weather conditions, Bream can be found at any time, in any season, provided it is after 6:00 PM.

Stardew Valley Bream Fishing Areas

Bream can be caught up until 2:00 AM in Stardew Valley, so head down to the River in the evening and fish for as long as you can, and the chances are you will end the night with at least one Bream in your inventory.

Fishing in Stardew Valley can be a frustrating experience, especially if the fish on your line has a darting behavior pattern. Thankfully, the Bream has a smooth behavior pattern, making it one of the easier varieties to catch. If you’re struggling to catch one, however, using a Trap Bobber or a Training Rod makes the fishing mini-game much easier to handle.

Putting some bait on your fishing line can also help you catch more fish quickly!

What to Use Bream for in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley Bream

Once you catch your Bream, you might be wondering what exactly to do with it. Your first Bream should be reserved for the Night Fishing Bundle at the Community Center. After you’ve got that out of the way, you can use Bream to make fertilizer, meals like Sashimi and Baked Fish, blue dye, or you can use one to create the Fish Shirt at the Sewing Machine in Emily and Haley’s house.

Stardew Valley: How To Use Prismatic Shards

Do you find yourself having extra Prismatic Shards? Here are all the ways you can put them to use.

Prismatic Shards are beautiful, rainbow-colored stones that are one of many Minerals that can be found in Stardew Valley . It is one of the most rare items in the game. Every way you can find one has a low chance of producing one. But, do any of these things often enough, and you may find some of these shards burning a hole in your pocket.

Stardew Valley: 13 Tips For Finding A Prismatic Shard

What do you do with them once you do have many of these magical stones? There are a number of uses for them aside from looking pretty. This guide will list out everything you can do with Prismatic Shards from the grand and mysterious to the mundane.

All The Ways To Find Prismatic Shards

Before going over what to do with extra shards, here are all the ways you can obtain Prismatic Shards :

These percentages do not factor in daily luck or other luck bonuses (where applicable).

The Desert Trader And The Sword

There are two uses for Prismatic Shards in the Desert . You can actually find Prismatic Shards in the Skull Cavern and immediately exit to use them.

The Galaxy Sword

The first, and most well-known, use for a single Prismatic Shard is to use it to conjure the Galaxy Sword . There are three pillars in the Desert just above the Desert Trader's tent. You will notice a circle in the sand in the middle of these pillars. Step over that circle and a very short cutscene will play. When it's completed, your farmer will be holding the Galaxy Sword .

After unlocking the Galaxy Sword, you will be able to purchase other Galaxy weapons from Marlon at the Adventurer's Guild .

The Desert Trader

Once you've received your Galaxy Sword, and once you have multiple Prismatic Shards, head to the Desert Trader . Along with many other goods, the Desert Trader sells Magic Rock Candy . He asks for three Prismatic Shards for this food item . Magic Rock Candy gives you five buffs after consuming it:

This makes it one of the most powerful food items in the game. So, when you have at least three Prismatic Shards, trade them for this Desert treat.

The Desert Trader only sells Magic Rock Candy on Thursdays .

Donate To The Museum

Donating to Gunther should be the second thing you do with an extra Prismatic Shard. Much like with Dinosaur Eggs, the first shard you find, you keep to turn into a Galaxy Sword. Only after that do you donate to Gunther. This will help fill, and ultimately complete, the Museum.

You can decide to never donate a shard, but even if your goal isn't to complete the Museum, donating to Gunther continues to unlock more rewards . You have to donate 60 items before you can meet Krobus. And, after you've donated 90 items , Gunther will give you a Magic Rock Candy. So you will want to hand over one of your Prismatic Shards to him.

The Missing Bundle

If you have not completed the Joja Route and have instead completed all the bundles for the Community Center , there will be one more bundle that appears in the abandoned Joja Mart. That is the Missing Bundle .

There are six items you can choose from to fill five slots to complete the Missing Bundle . One of the items you can give to the Juminos is a Prismatic Shard. You don't have to use a Prismatic Shard to complete this bundle. However, if you have extras, it will be easier and more cost-effective to use one of your shards.

  • Donating Caviar , five gold quality Ancient Fruit , or silver quality Wine will cut into your profits
  • A Prismatic Shard sells for 2,000g or 2,600g with the Gemologist profession .
  • A Fish Pond , which is required to make Caviar, costs 5,000g to construct .
  • Five gold Ancient Fruits can be sold outright for 4,125g or 4,535g with the Tiler profession .
  • And silver quality Wine, while can sell for as little as 18g if using a Salmonberry , takes 14 days to craft in a cask. Casks can only be unlocked by upgrading your home multiple times, which will cost you 175,000g .

So, considering all things, using the Prismatic Shard will cost you less than these three other options.

The Dark Shrine Of Selfishness

This ominous-sounding shrine makes use of a Prismatic Shard each time you use it.

This shrine is located in the Witch's Hut , which will be accessible to you after completing the Dark Talisman quest . What does the shrine do? After you've married one of the bachelors or bachelorettes in Stardew Valley, you'll have the option to have or adopt children with them .

If you decide you don't want the children after already agreeing to have them with your spouse, you can give one Prismatic Shard to the Shrine of Selfishness. This will turn your children into doves . As they fly away, it removes them from the game permanently .

Stardew Valley: Everything You Need To Know About Having Children

At the top of the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island is the Forge. When you first reach the top, there is a chest that holds a single Prismatic Shard .

The Forge allows you to combine rings but also to enchant your tools . To give your tools an enchantment, you will need to use a Prismatic Shard each time you do. You can also use a Prismatic Shard to enchant a melee weapon .

You cannot enchant your Scythe or Trash Can in this way. That includes the Gold and Iridium Scythes.

Along with costing a Prismatic Shard, this also costs 20 Cinder Shards each time you use it. Enchantments are randomized , so you will want to bring many Prismatic Shards with you if you'd like to get a certain enchantment for your tools and weapon(s).

Junimo Huts

Want to see a cool trick? If you have constructed Junimo Huts on your farm, place a Prismatic Shard inside .

To construct a Junimo Hut , you will have needed to, again, completed the Dark Talisman quest . On completion, The Wizard will have a magical tome with different buildings and items he can construct for you, including the Junimo Huts.

It takes 200 Stone, 100 Fiber, and nine Starfruit to have one built. When it is, Junimos will leave the hut to harvest any crops you have placed around them. If you place a Prismatic Shard in their hut, Junimos will continuously change colors to match the rainbow of the shard. This can be done for multiple huts.

Once you're able to use Emily's Sewing Machine , or she has gifted you one after completing the Rock Rejuvenation special order , you can place a Prismatic Shard in the spool in order to make one of five Prismatic clothing items.

  • Prismatic Shirt
  • Prismatic Shirt with White Sleeves
  • Prismatic Shirt with Black Sleeves
  • Prismatic Pants
  • Prismatic Genie Pants

These clothing items will behave similarly to the Junimos, in which they cycle through the colors of the rainbow magically.

There is no guarantee what order these clothes will be made in. That means you may get duplicates, and that can happen before you've tailored each of the five.

If you've done everything above that you've wanted to do, then gifting your extra Prismatic Shards is a great use. Prismatic Shards are loved by everyone, except for Hayley, who hates them. If you haven't reached max hearts with everyone in Stardew Valley, gift them your extra, unwanted shards .

To maximize their effect , gift Prismatic Shards on the Birthdays of the people of Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley: 10 Tips For Earning Max Friendship With The Villagers

If you've done everything above, including gifting Prismatic Shards to the villagers of the Valley, sell your extra shards.

These will bring you 2,000 to 2,600g for each shard you sell, meaning a major paycheck if selling multiple at a time.

Do this only after you've used all the shards you've wanted to.

Wedding Ring

This is one more use for Prismatic Shards that you can only access if playing in Multiplayer . That is to craft a Wedding Ring with one.

To get the crafting recipe, you will purchase it from the Traveling Merchant for 500g . Once you do, you will need five Iridium Bars as well as one Prismatic Shard .

This functions like the Mermaid's Pendant . When you present this to another player, they can choose to accept or refuse the ring. If accepted , a wedding ceremony will take place three days after the proposal .

If there is an event or Green Rainy Day at the time you would have your marriage ceremony, it will instead happen on the next day.

The Wedding Ring sells for 1,000g and it can be equipped like other rings , but it gives no benefit to your farmer.

Stardew Valley fans, you have to see this new Studio Ghibli-inspired farming sim

Charm on a stick.

Ewan Moore

As someone who's put an ungodly amount of hours into Stardew Valley , I've found very few farming sims have ever quite been able to scratch the itch in the same way.

Let's face it: Stardew Valley really is one of a kind. And while there are plenty of other really great cosy farming games , it's rare that one comes along that really gets me excited anymore.

Well, until today. Take a look at Starsand Island below.

The first thing you'll notice about Starsand Island is that it's drop dead gorgeous. This is a brand-new farming sim that's as inspired by the likes of Studio Ghibi l as much it is Stardew Valley .

Developed and published by Creativision Studio, Starsand Island pitches itself as "a tranquil island farming simulation game that invites you to embark on a leisurely pastoral life on your very own island."

A press release reads: " Starsand Island is more than just a game—it’s a journey for the soul. Imagine yourself amidst warm sunshine, soft sands, lush meadows, gentle windmills, friendly townsfolk, affectionate dolphins, vibrant corals, cozy cabins, and lively squirrels.

"This is an island world inspired by the whimsical style of Ghibli where you can shed the burdens of reality and enjoy the peace and beauty of your very own slice of paradise."

Planned for release in 2025, Starsand Island promises a vast island to explore, over 40 NPCs to befriend, and a ton of customisation options for your character, farm, and home. Basically everything you could want from a farming sim.

I'm already sold in a big way. Starsand Island is an absolute treat for the eyes, and if it can balance that visual splendour with genuine depth and well-written characters, we could well be looking at one of 2025's most exciting games. We'll be sure to keep you updated on this one.
