This inspiration, along with the provided tips, can help ensure you don’t overlook any important information.

Dear Mr. Pierce,

The pharmacy assistant position advertised in last Sunday’s paper sounds like it is exactly what I’ve been looking for. I’ve been working in a similar position for the last two years in a smaller pharmacy and am ready to change to a place where there is more growth potential.

In my current position, I’ve had the opportunity to assist in all the tasks of a full pharmacy, including customer service, inventory management, and prescription labeling. However, due to the relatively low sales volume, I feel that my skills are not as utilized as they would be in a larger company such as yours.

I like to be active and work hard, and to be intellectually stimulated on the job. I’m the type of person who would rather be kept busy the whole time I’m working, rather than have a lot of downtime. Being productive is a great way to learn, which will help me to be better at my job and, hopefully, to advance in my career.

I would love the opportunity to discuss with you how my experience and go-getter attitude can be put to work for the XYZ Pharmacy. Thank you for your time.

Hiring Manager Name

Company Name

Dear [Hiring Manager Name],

As a pharmacy manager at CVS, I was tasked with raising annual revenue by 15%. It was a daunting challenge, but by focusing on training, customer service, and customer retention, we managed a 20% revenue gain in just six months. My love of engaging with employees to provide the best possible customer experience made it possible.

This is why I'm so interested in the pharmacist position at Walmart. Your relentless pursuit of improving the customer experience mirrors my own. Your advertisement says you're looking for a pharmacy manager with 3+ years of experience. I've got six years plus these achievements that fit what you're looking for:

  • Customer Service.  Guided 20 pharmacy employees in proper application of customer service best practices. Raised customer retention 15%.
  • Training.  Trained, mentored, and supervised 11 pharmacy technicians. Performance increased 20%. Client complaints dropped 50%.
  • Customer Retention.  Increased customer retention an additional 5% through improved medication adherence and service. Led to 10% increase in profits.

I'd be glad to spend some time discussing how my leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills can further Walmart's mission of "giving customers what they want."

Best Regards,

[Your Name, Title]

PS—I'm also glad to explain how I turned a major natural disaster into deep community engagement.

Strong work.

That pharmacy letter of intent will show the hiring manager you’re not just another pill jockey.

Now, here’s how to write pharmacist cover letters like that:

Use the Best Pharmacist Cover Letter Template

Writing a good pharmacy cover letter is tough.

Where do you start? What do you include?

Like a prescription, this pharmacist covering letter template gives the steps and quantities.

Use it to write a great pharmacist or pharmacy technician cover letter.

Sample Cover Letter for Pharmacist—Checklist

  • your contact info
  • the company’s info
  • dear (hiring manager name)
  • paragraph #1: biggest achievement that fits the job responsibilities
  • paragraph #2: passion + accomplishments that prove key skills
  • paragraph #3: your offer
  • best regards + your name + title
  • PS + a little mystery

Pro Tip: How do you show passion in pharmacist cover letters? Talk about whatever fires you up about the job. But—link it to your schooling, skills, or an achievement.

How should you format a pharmacy tech cover letter? What font, margins, and line-spacing should you use? See our guide: Cover Letter Format: A Complete How-To Guide

2. Start Your Pharmacist Cover Letter Right

How do you start a pharmacist or pharmacy technician cover letter?

Well—

How does the pharmacy hiring manager want you to start?

Put it this way:

She’s wiped. She’s read 150 cover letters for pharmacist jobs today. They all begin the same.

If you want her to stop daydreaming about biologics, use a hook.

What’s that?

It’s an eye-catching fact that shows your pharmacist skills.

These pharmacy cover letter examples show how:

Pharmacist Cover Letter Examples [First Paragraph]

The first of these pharmacy cover letter examples goes down easy.

The job wants skills in training, customer service, and customer retention.

We’ve got a winner.

Why does that pharmacist cover letter example work?

Because it:

  • Shows pharmacist skills that fit the job ad
  • Shows how they helped your boss (20% revenue gain)

But this pharmacist covering letter example is contraindicated:

What’s wrong with pharmacist cover letter examples like that? They’re like Lisinopril: generic.

That example lists some skills, but not the ones the job ad mentioned. Plus it doesn’t say if all that great, on-time work you did helped anyone.

Next, what if you’re writing a pharmacy technician cover letter with no experience?

Sample Cover Letter for Pharmacy Technician [Entry-Level]

With entry-level pharmacy technician cover letters—

List pharmacy achievements.

Those can come from:

  • Transferable tasks from non-pharmacist jobs
  • Your six years of schooling

Or start your cover letter for pharmacist jobs with:

  • A fact that shows your passion
  • A connection at the company
  • Something that excites you for the job
  • An award or honor the company received

See the next of our pharmacy intern cover letter examples with no experience:

  • I graduated at the top of my class at Long Island University. My skills in...
  • When I trained six pharmacy techs at Rite Aid, my boss said I did more than teach skills. I also changed my trainees’ outlook.
  • My grandfather, mother, and father are all pharmacists. From the time I was ten...
  • Jane Saunders, your VP of Sales, suggested I apply to this position. I’ve known Jane for years, and she said my work ethic and high grades make me a good fit...
  • I read the article about Litman’s Pharmacies in Medical News Today. You’re really breaking ground with online sales, which is why I’m so interested in...

All those pharmacy tech cover letter examples work much better than, “I’m applying for this job...”

Pro Tip: Cut the street address from your cover letter email format for pharmacy jobs. List your phone and email handle at the end. If you like, add state and city to your resume.

How can you start a pharmacy technician cover letter with what the manager is looking for? See our guide: How to Start a Cover Letter: Sample & Complete Guide

3. Write a Healthy Pharmacist Cover Letter Middle

The hook in your cover letter for pharmacist jobs gets them reading. But—

It won’t land the interview.

To do that, strut your stuff a little more.

Write a second paragraph that shows your benefits.

  • Your passion for this pharmacist job
  • Your grasp of the pharmacist job responsibilities
  • Proof you’ve used those skills to solve employer problems

These pharmacist cover letter examples show right from wrong:

Pharmacist Cover Letter Examples [Middle]

The first of these pharmacist cover letter examples has powerful active ingredients. It shows passion , an understanding of the role , and proof .

Nicely handled.

That pharmacy cover letter example will put you in the pickup window fast.

You showed excitement, proved you understand their needs, and showed you’ve handled needs like that before. (With flying colors!!!)

How can they ignore you?

The next of our pharmacy technician cover letter examples has expired:

That’s all warning and no benefit.

The second of those pharmacist cover letter examples is a wish list. Instead, imagine the employer’s wish list, then show you’ll fill it.

Pro Tip: What if the job ad doesn’t say the most important skills? Informational interviews can help you write a great cover letter for pharmacist jobs.

Is it okay to write a pharmacist covering letter longer than a page? See our guide: How Long Should A Cover Letter Be? Sample & Guide

4. End Your Pharmacist Cover Letter Strong

You’re the best candidate by far.

But they didn’t hire you.

Where did you go wrong?

You don’t know how to end a cover letter for pharmacist positions.

True, you started with a hook, gave evidence of key skills...

But now you need to make an offer.

Wait, what?

Don’t they make the offer?

Yes, but they’ll do it faster if you offer something first.

These pharmacist cover letter examples map it out:

Cover Letter Examples for Pharmacist [Ending]

The first of these cover letter examples for pharmacist jobs handles it:

See the offer?

That pharmacy cover letter sample offers:

  • Alignment with company goals.
  • Secret knowledge that could help the branch.

Plus, you went right into their mission statement from their website. The hiring manager can’t help but think, “He gets me.”

But this pharmacist cover letter sample is incurable:

Speaking soon? To whom? With what purpose? That’s not an offer, it’s a wish. If that pharmacy intern cover letter example was a dog, it wouldn’t hunt.

Pro Tip: Got a fact you don’t want the hiring manager to miss? Put it in a PS. Even if they skim the rest of your pharmacy technician cover letter, they’ll read that post script.

The Pharmacist cover letter examples above should give you a good idea of the type of content you need to include in your own cover letter, and how it should be structured.

But if you’re really looking to wow recruiters and get your CV in front of the very best employers, then check out our guidance on how to write your own effective cover letter below.

How to write a Pharmacist cover letter

Here’s how to write your own winning Pharmacist cover letter

How to write a cover letter

Write your cover letter in the body of an email/message

When writing your Pharmacist cover letter, it’s best to type the content into the body of your email (or the job site messaging system) and not to attach the cover letter as a separate document.

This ensures that your cover letter gets seen as soon as a recruiter or employer opens your message.

If you attach the cover letter as a document, you’re making the reader go through an unnecessary step of opening the document before reading it.

If it’s in the body of the message itself, it will be seen instantly, which hugely increases the chances of it being read.

Write cover letter in body of email

Start with a friendly greeting

Cover letter address

Start you cover letter with a greeting that is professional but friendly.

This will build rapport with the recruiter whilst showing your professionalism.

  • Hi, hope you’re well
  • Hi [insert recruiter name]
  • Hi [insert department/team name]

Avoid overly formal greetings like “Dear sir/madam ” unless applying to very traditional companies.

How to find the contact’s name?

Addressing the recruitment contact by name is an excellent way to start building a strong relationship. If it is not listed in the job advert, try these methods to find it.

  • Check out the company website and look at their  About page. If you see a hiring manager, HR person or internal recruiter, use their name. You could also try to figure out who would be your manager in the role and use their name.
  • Head to LinkedIn , search for the company and scan through the list of employees. Most professionals are on LinkedIn these days, so this is a good bet.

Identify the role you are applying for

Now that you have warmed the recruiter up with a friendly greeting, firstly you need to let them know which role you are applying for.

Sometimes a recruitment consultant will be juggling 10 or 10 vacancies, so it’s important to specify which one you are applying to.

Give us much detail as possible (team/department, role title etc.) and paste in the reference number if you have one.

Here are some examples you can use.

  • I am interested in applying for the role of Pharmacist with your company.
  • I would like to apply for the role of Sales assistant (Ref: 40f57393)
  • I would like to express my interest in the customer service vacancy within your retail department
  • I saw your advert for an IT project manager on Reed and would like to apply for the role.

Highlight your suitability

The sole objective of your cover letter is to motivate recruiters into to opening your CV. And you achieve this by quickly explaining your suitability to the roles you are applying for.

Take a look at the job descriptions you are applying to, and make note of the most important skills and qualifications being asked for.

Then, when crafting your cover letter, make your suitability the central focus.

Explain why you are the best qualified candidate, and why you are so well suited to carry out the job.

This will give recruiters all the encouragement they need to open your CV and consider you for the job.

Cover letter tips

Keep it short and sharp

When sending a job application to a recruiter or hiring manager, it is important to remember that they will normally be very busy and pushed for time.

Therefore, you need to get you message across to them quickly (in a matter of seconds ideally). So, keep your cover letter short and to-the-point. A long waffling cover letter will overwhelm recruiters when they are running through hundreds of emails in there inbox, but a concise one will get their attention.

So, keep your cover letter to just a few sentences long, and save the extensive detail for your CV.

Sign off professionally

To round of your cover letter, add a professional signature to the bottom, giving recruiters your vital contact information.

This not only gives various means of contacting you, it also looks really professional and shows that you know how to communicate in the workplace.

Include the following points;

  • A friendly sign off – e.g. “Warm regards”
  • Your full name
  • Phone number (one you can answer quickly)
  • Email address
  • Profession title
  • Professional social network – e.g. LinkedIn

Here is an example signature;

Warm regards,

Gerald Baker Senior Accountant 07887500404 [email protected] LinkedIn

Quick tip : To save yourself from having to write your signature every time you send a job application email, you can save it within your email drafts, or on a separate document that you could copy in.

Email signatures

What to include in your Pharmacist cover letter

So, what type of information should you write about in your Pharmacist cover letter?

The specifics will obviously depend on your profession and the jobs you are applying to, but these are the key areas you should be covering.

  • Your industry experience – Tell recruiters the types of companies you have been working for and the roles you have held in the past.
  • Your qualifications – Highlight your most important relevant qualifications to show employers you are qualified to do the roles you are applying for.
  • The impact you have made – Demonstrate the positive impact you have made for employers in previous jobs. Have you saved money? Improved processes? Made customers happy?
  • Your reasons for moving – Employers will want to know why you are leaving your current/previous role, so provide them with a brief explanation here.
  • Your availability – When will you be able to start a new job ? Check your current contract to find out your notice period if you are in a position already.
