BBC Creative U's Advertising Course for Ethnic Minority Applicants Returns for 2023
BBC Creative U’s advertising course for Ethnic Minority applicants is back for the third time.
Launched in 2021 BBC Creative U aims to refresh creativity in the industry and is a place for those who want to take the first steps in advertising.
The course is for people from all walks of life who want to start using their creative skills and voices to help shape our culture.
Over the course of 12 weeks students learn the fundamentals of idea generation, strategy, copywriting and art direction with masterclasses from experts across the BBC and beyond. The students have the opportunity to visit the in-house agency in real life and everyone is assigned their own mentor.
Previous candidates have gone on to work for BBC Creative, as well as other agencies such as BBH, TBWA, and Universal.
Jodie Anderson from class of 2022, said: “Thanks to BBC Creative U my dream career has taken off.” Jodie now works as a freelance Creative, specialising in Social Media.
Faron McKenzie, head of station for BBC Radio 1Xtra is one of the guest speakers on the programme.

B BC Creative U is a 10-week masterclass in advertising hosted and taught by BBC Creative to improve the diversity of talent entering the advertising industry.
The first programme will take place every Wednesday from 4-6pm and be available to ethnic minority candidates aged 18+. The programme will run for the next three years.
The course will provide students with the necessary skills and contacts to start a career in advertising.
Throughout the 10 weeks students will learn the fundamentals of idea generation, strategy, copywriting and art direction, with masterclasses from experts from across the BBC and beyond.
