What is an internship? • An internship is a work-related learning experience for individuals who wish to develop hands on work experience in a certain occupational field. Most internships are temporary assignments that last approximately three months up to a year.

Why should I get an Internship? • An internship is an excellent way to determine if the industry and the profession is the best career option to pursue. Interns not only gain practical work experience in a field that they intend to pursue but also build experience.

Benefits of an Internship: • Internships help individuals to combine theory with practical work experience. • Internships help develop professional work habits; provides an understanding of corporate cultures, gives an opportunity to analyze international business settings, and offers platforms to compare differences in work styles. • Allows you to include actual work experience in your resume.

Networking while interning • Networking is probably one of the most significant advantages interns may have. The opportunity to meet with company managers, executives and peers is a wonderful gain for interns. The contacts made during an internship can lead to information regarding job openings after your internship, either at the same location, or at other locations.

How do I find an internship? • There are many internships out there and you can find them using the following techniques: • Internet: www.monsterTRAK.com www.vault.com • Networking • Contacting a company • Utilizing the Internship Office on campus • Talking to friends and family

I found an internship now, how do I get it? • Getting an internship, paid or not, is like getting a job. You will need: • A Cover Letter • A Resume • An Application (provided by the company) • Transcripts (if applicable)

What to do while you are in your internship: During your internship: • Keep accurate records of your time • Develop a portfolio with your work samples • Collect business cards from people you work closely with (remember, this is a GREAT networking opportunity) • Paid or not paid, you can earn college units through your internship. Just enroll in Work Experience (WRKEX)

Internships in the Bay Area: • KTVU FOX 2 accepts junior and senior level college students for internships. Internships are for Spring (February-May), Summer (June-August), and Fall (September-January). • The station has "Open Calls" for interns three times a year, in May, September and December. The next Open Call will be in early September of 2004. You must be receiving course credit to qualify.

Internship Open Call • Creative services: Promotion-Publicity, 1-2 interns, 20 hours per week. Office work training, heavy phone activity. Learn production techniques in the making of promotional and sports spots and publicity/marketing skills. • Community Affairs: 2 interns per semester, 20 hours/week. Weekly talk show opportunity for researching topics and booking guests. Help produce PSA’s on location, script logging, script writing, learn about production needs. • News: 3-4 interns per news program, Mon-Sun/5am-11pm, 12 hrs/week. • Sales: 2-3 interns per semester, 15-20 hrs/wk. Learn about television sales, work with Account Executives and Sales Managers on research, ratings, and projections.

The SF Bay Guardian offers opportunities for its interns to develop reporting skills and to write numerous articles. They also provide workshops for interns on city politics, research and writing skills, and freelancing. Interns advance at their own pace. Although there are no guarantees, interns should leave the paper writing better and faster.

News internship: Assist staff reporters with research and news gathering and develop your own short On Guard articles. In time, some interns may write longer news features. • Culture internship: Write analytical articles about social issues, cultural ephemera, weird events, food, or travel. • A&E internship:Write calendar listings and short reviews. EA hires interns that can successfully manage the following responsibilities: • Software Engineers - Interns will be responsible for creating C, C++ or Assembly code and/or HTML, Java™, and SQL code as a part of teams developing simulations for various consoles, PCs and online products. Potential interns typically pursue a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering with a strong mathematical background. Candidates should have solid programming experience in various languages. Other desired skills include bit-mapped graphics, 3-D graphics, device level, artificial intelligence and/or digital signal programming. PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, Nintendo GameCube™, Xbox™ or online development experience is helpful, but not expected. This descriptive research study has been undertaken in private multispeciality hospitals, Tirunelveli City, Tamil Nadu to examine the perception of nurses towards the impact of employee turnover on employee performance. The study has sampled 60 nurses qualified with Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (DGNM) and Bachelor in Nursing (B.Sc Nursing) courses using judgement sampling technique. Primary data have been collected through a constructed questionnaire. Secondary data have been collected from books, journals, projects and journals. Percentage method has been applied to analyse profile of the respondents. The study has administered mean and standard deviation to understand perception of nurses towards impact of employee turnover on performance of the existing nurses. The results of the study has found that more workload for the existing employees, inability to leave the duty on time, health issues, inadequate care for the patients, conflict and dispute among the coworkers, stress, inability to take decisions on time and inability to segregate biomedical wastes are the foremost impact of employee turnover on performance of existing employees

Throughout the 8-week paid Advisor Services RIA Intern Program internship, you will uncover how Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) firms work and allows you to explore future career opportunities in financial services. As an intern, you’ll interact and support various areas of Schwab Advisor Services, participate in educational learning sessions, and explore the portfolio construction and financial planning process. You will gain experience in an area of financial services that’s about more than just making money-it’s about doing what’s best for clients. If you are passionate about gaining insights on how Schwab supports RIAs, developing your presentation and public-speaking skills within a professional setting, and learning more about how advisors manage their businesses and service their clients, this is the role for you.

What you have

Required Qualifications

Completed a minimum of two years of college-level education toward a related BA or BS degree tracking to graduate between December 2024 and May 2026

Ability to work full time and be on-site at our Westlake, TX Schwab campus during the 8-week program (June 3 to July 26, 2024)

Preferred Qualifications

Finished courses focused on CFP® certification/financial planning, business management, marketing, economics, finance, accounting, communications, or other.

Desire to work in the RIA industry post-graduation

Participated in extra-curricular activities geared toward a career in the financial services and/or RIA industry

Intermediate knowledge of financial products and services

Proficient in Microsoft® Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with internal business partners

Strive for or have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher in relevant coursework

Optimism with keen sense of purpose, awareness, and knowledge

Resourcefulness and flexibility, who enjoy working through cross-functional partnership and collaboration to achieve a common purpose

An innovative and questioning demeanor, who constantly look for better ways to do things, have a passion for service, and seek to exceed client expectations

Excellent organizational skills, enabling one to manage multiple priorities and projects, while meeting deadlines
