Google Search can now help you solve geometry, physics and calculus problems Google updated its search engine and Lens tool with new features to help you visualize and solve problems in more difficult subjects like geometry, physics, trigonometry and calculus. The update allows you to type an equation into the Search bar or take a photo with Lens to get the correct answer and a step-by-step explanation. The new feature also provides solutions to word problems. For instance, the solver can explain high school physics concepts like finding the average acceleration using the equation “vf= vi + at.” You can also access the math solver feature by typing “[math solver]” directly into the search bar. However, this function is only available on desktop. It will launch on mobile by the end of the year, the company told TechCrunch. Another useful new feature is the geometry solver. Since solving geometry problems requires a lot of visualization, Lens can now explain both the visual and the text components of the problem. However, Lens can only interpret “certain triangle problems,” the company wrote in its blog post, attributed to Google product lead Robert Wong. We reached out to Wong to clarify, who told us that the geometry solver can currently do the following: • Find the area of a triangle using A = 1/2 x height x base or Heron’s formula. • Find the perimeter of a triangle. • Apply the “Isosceles Triangle Theorem” to determine an unknown side length or angle. • Apply the “Pythagorean Theorem” to figure out the side lengths in right triangles. “For our geometry experience, we wanted to focus on a subset of problems that could have a large impact before eventually expanding to cover a more diverse range of geometry problems,” Wong added. Image Credits: Google For the physics and geometry solver, Google leveraged its Multitask Unified Model (MUM), which understands specific search queries across various formats, including text, images and videos. “Language and query understanding are complex challenges that require sophisticated systems to ensure we’re producing the most helpful results — especially in cases where our systems are looking at information in multiple different formats,” Wong explained. “In this case, these features need to understand information across both text and images to correctly interpret a problem and provide accurate step-by-step responses that include both text and diagrams.” When asked about the accuracy rate for the new experience, the company declined to share specific numbers. “Our testing shows the accuracy rate is very high,” Wong said. In addition to problem-solving, Google also launched new 3D models on Search, letting you examine interactive diagrams related to nearly 1,000 topics, such as biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy and more. Google introduced 3D models in 2021, rolling out diagrams for more than 200 chemistry, biology, physics and anatomy concepts. Over the years, the tech giant has launched multiple features that help you learn, including its interactive feature, “practice problems,” that tests your knowledge of high school topics like math, chemistry and physics. Type in or upload a picture of that tricky calculus equation

Google is updating its search engine and Lens tool with new features to help students visualize and solve tricky math problems.

We’re not talking about basic arithmetic either. The upgraded Google Search can now tackle more complex forms of math like calculus and trigonometry. All you have to do is type in the equation or integral  into the text bar at the top or take a picture of your homework with Lens. You’ll then see a series of step-by-step instructions explaining how to solve it with the answer at the bottom. Geometry is also supported with the company recommending people use Google Lens to solve those since they can have diagrams. You won’t be able to draw shapes into the search bar so uploading a photo of the equation is your best bet.

Additionally, you can type in word problems for physics questions. Google Search will highlight the “known and unknown values” and then show you the correct formula to use for that particular equation. As an example, if you need to find out the average acceleration of a cyclist going down a hill, it’ll tell you the specific kinetic formula needed.

The math update is currently live on desktop and the mobile app. Google states you can type the phrase “math solver” in the search bar to try out their new experience on desktop. However, when we did, nothing popped up. It's possible this could be referring to future expansion, but we're not sure. Either way, feel free to directly type the math problem into the search bar. You don’t need to bring up anything else.

Alongside the mathematics help, Google is rolling out interactive 3D models for certain fields of science such as physics, biology, and chemistry. The diagrams will let you zoom into an object as well as provide definitions of what you’re looking at.

At the time of this writing, the patch doesn’t appear to be widely available. We saw interactive 3D models for basic concepts like individual parts of a cell and periodic elements, but nothing for specific types of cells or molecules. You can look up a model for an oxygen atom, but not a carbon dioxide molecule for instance. What’s more, nothing had a definition. It was just the model.

We reached out to Google asking if this patch is seeing a global release or will only be available in a few countries like the United States. We’ll update this story if we hear back.

Undoubtedly, this will help students advance in their courses. But don't forget about the hardware. If you're in the market for a computer, be sure to check out TechRadar's list of the best student laptops for 2023 .

Math Homework Help: A Guide to the Best AI Math Solver of 2023

By Casey Allen, 24 Oct 2023

About a quarter of the average college student's courseload is general education requirements. While these are graduation requirements, they also are  usually time-wasters . They're challenging and stressful... but luckily, help is available.

If you're looking for quick math homework help, an online AI math solver can bring your grades up quickly and effectively. Read on to learn more about free math homework help that you can always rely on.

What Is an AI Math Solver?

AI math solvers use automated technology to solve math problems. They work to pick apart both simple and complex equations so that college students can get accurate and advanced solutions.

It's a fast and accurate way to get solutions to college math questions. You won't need to worry about tedious mathematical tasks and can spend more time focusing on courses for your major.

How Does an AI Math Homework Solver Work?

Quality AI math solvers use powerful computational computer engines. These databases have large language model AI software. This makes them extremely versatile so they can solve a wide range of math problems.

This math homework solver uses predetermined algorithms to break a problem down into simple parts. After disassembling them, the AI technology works quickly to solve each simple equation and put them back together. The whole process usually takes under a minute.

Using Interactive Mathematics Technology

Interactive Mathematics is an accurate, efficient, and effective online technology. It's also free to use so that passing your math class doesn't break the bank.

All you need to do  is go onto our website and enter your homework question into our technology. If it's from a digital sheet or online textbook, you can copy and paste it into the chat box. If you're working off a physical sheet or textbook, you can send it in photo form.

There's no need to manually change the format of your homework!

Once you enter the problem into our website, the algorithm will get to work breaking down your problem. Within moments, it will generate an accurate solution for you.

Most math classes don't just grade you based on a single numeric answer. They assign you a grade based on whether you show your work step by step. Unlike a calculator, Interactive Mathematics gives you a step-by-step breakdown of how our software took your problem and got the solution from it.

You'll be able to see each step and record it onto your homework. Plus, since you can't use an AI math solver on in-class tests, you can assess each step on your own and see how the AI got there. You can then learn from the breakdown and apply your findings to classroom exams.

Why Is Our Software the #1 Option?

Interactive Mathematics prides itself on being of a higher quality than popular alternatives. Our solver is faster than math tutors and calculators so you can get coursework completed quickly. It's also more accurate than other AI solutions like ChatGPT.

This is in part because it's specialized. It's also because it interacts with a large knowledge database to solve complex mathematical equations with tons of different algorithms.

Our AI technology is also super versatile. We don't just help solve algebra problems or trig equations. We also stand above other AI math solvers because we provide you with the capacity to solve word problems.

When you plug a  complex word problem  into our software, the solver will interpret it for you. It will then figure out what mathematical operations can solve the problem. You won't need to worry about converting text to a formula anymore - it'll all be done for you.

Interactive Mathematics is also accessible at any time of the day or night. You can plug equations in when cramming at 2 AM or talk with a well-programmed chatbot at midnight.

Unlike person-to-person tutoring services, you won't need to wait until regular business hours. It's convenient and effective.

Is It Only for Gen-Eds?

The answer to this question is a resounding "no!" Up until now, we've mostly talked about our math homework software as a quick way to pass general education courses. However, it can do far more than that - it can give math majors the skills needed to succeed, too.

You can plug equations into our software to check your work after completing it. You can also analyze the AI-generated step-by-step process to better learn how to break down problems. This lets you see your math homework and questions in new ways so that you learn how to be more analytical and solutions-oriented.

Plus, our chatbots and human tutors are all able to discuss complex facets of math with you. You'll have a sounding board for mathematical ideas and theories. These AI bots may also be able to give you some ideas to enhance your thoughts and hypotheses.

Unlike other AI math solvers, we don't charge you an insane amount of money for services. Our team aims to get rid of the cost-related barriers standing between you and academic success. That's why we give you exclusive discounts and free services up to $1085 when you sign up. You'll get access to: • Top AI math homework help • College counseling • Student loan counseling • Resume review services • 65% off SAT/ACT prep courses • College essay services (courses and editing) • 80% or more off of used textbooks You get all of this for only$9.95 per month! If you choose to pay yearly instead of monthly, you'll only pay $3.33 monthly. When you use all of these strategies in unison, you'll be able to get a comprehensive mathematical education. You'll also become more career-ready post-graduation with a high-quality resume and professional-level essays. Get Math Homework Help for Free - Try it now! Take a photo of your math homework, upload it to our website , and get an automatically generated accurate solution ASAP. Be the first to comment below. Google has introduced new updates to Search and Lens to help learners solve math and science problems. The new updates will provide step-by-step solutions and explanations, making it easier for users to solve complex math and science problems.

“It can feel frustrating when you are trying to solve a math problem and aren’t quite sure what the next step should be. Now, when you look up the problem on Search, you will be able to get even more help on subjects like trigonometry and calculus,” the tech giant said in a blogpost on October 30.

You can simply type your equation or integral into the Search bar, or take a picture with Lens, and you will see a step-by-step explanation and solution. Also, you can type “math solver” to give this experience a try on desktop and it will soon be available on mobile.

Also, you can now get help with word problems, starting with many fundamental topics from high-school physics. This experience will help you to identify the known and unknown values and understand which formulas to use and when.

When solving geometry problems that are difficult to describe with words, like finding the area of a triangle with a diagram and side measurements, you can use Lens. Lens can interpret both the visual and text aspects of the problem and provide step-by-step solutions, making it easier to get help without needing to describe it in words.

To master STEM subjects and foster curiosity, it’s important to develop a deep visual understanding. For instance, you might know about mitochondria but struggle to picture its inner structures like cristae and matrix. With 3D models on Search, you can now explore interactive diagrams with definitions and overviews for around 1,000 topics in biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy and more.

Google Search Is Making It Easier For You To Solve Math, Science Problems: Here's How

Posted: 31 October 2023 | Last updated: 2 November 2023

Google has recently introduced significant updates to its Search and Lens features, aimed at assisting learners with complex problems in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.

The design of these updates aims to offer enhanced support for math, physics, and geometry, simplifying problem-solving and understanding for users.

How Does Google Search Help Simplify Math and Science Problems?

Google Search now offers enhanced assistance for math and science problems. Users can simply enter their equation in the search bar or use Google Lens to take a picture of the problem, and they will receive a step-by-step solution. Additionally, a “math solver” feature is available on desktop and will soon be introduced to mobile devices.

How Does Google Search Help with Word Problems?

Google’s advanced language models now provide help with word problems, starting with high-school physics topics. This feature assists users in identifying known and unknown values and choosing the right formulas to solve the problems.

How Does Google Search Help With Problems That Can Be Difficult To Explain in Words?

Geometry problems can be challenging to describe using words alone. To address this, users can now use Google Lens to interpret visual problems, such as finding the area of a triangle. The tool generates step-by-step explanations for geometry challenges.

Visual Learning for STEM with Google Search: Google has also introduced the ability to visually explore STEM concepts on Search. This feature allows users to interact with 3D models and interactive diagrams for over 1,000 topics related to biology, chemistry, physics, astronomy, and more. This visual understanding, Google believes, is crucial for mastering STEM subjects.

Rob Wong, Product Lead at Google, commented on the updates, stating, “With the latest enhancements in Search and Lens, individuals can now intuitively visualize STEM concepts and effortlessly identify the appropriate equations. These improvements empower people to nurture their curiosity and acquire new knowledge seamlessly.”
