Since the beginning of human time, work has been part of life, sometimes dreaded and sometimes enjoyed. Shifts in technology and societal trends have brought about new insights into what it means to live and work. Once relied upon for strength and muscle, humans are now more than ever becoming knowledge workers needed for the power within their minds. No longer can organizations ignore the well-being of workers if they want to succeed in a globally competitive environment. To be leverage the power of the workforce of the future requires a new approach to designing organization. Our design imagines a future where both workers and organizations can flourish live never before.

This paper aims to examine whether companies in Indonesian controversial industries can rely on their corporate social responsibility (CSR) practices to improve potential employees' job pursuit intention, which lead to a higher quality of work life (QWL) and a better performance from their employees.
Design/methodology/approach
The target respondents are interns, staff and supervisors of 42 Indonesian listed companies in controversial industries. The data collection method is performed by distributing questionnaires using a seven-point Likert scale. Collected data using partial least squares (PLS) analysis are conducted and tested.
Consistent with the existing result, the authors find out that potential employees have a higher intention to join and accept a job offer from companies with a higher level of CSR practices. Regarding the corporate social responsibility, it is further proven to have a positive effect on employee's quality of work life. More interestingly, the findings of the current study reveal that CSR also affects employee performance (EP), both directly and indirectly, through QWL.
Research limitations/implications
Findings demonstrate that CSR in Indonesian controversial industry represents an important factor for recruiting top employees that lead to the improvement of the employee's quality of work life and performance.
Practical implications
The findings indicate that enterprises should be more concerned about CSR engagement in attracting new talents, enhancing the quality of work life and cultivating the employee's performance.
Originality/value
This study enhances previous supports and studies on the concept of CSR and human resource management by analyzing the relationship between CSR and employee performance. Previous researches have concentrated their objectives in finding the link between CSR and the financial performance of a company. However, it must be understood that a company's success actually hinges on the performance of one of their greatest assets, the human resources. Additionally, due to the change in generations that will be the job seekers, recruitment strategy to attract job applicants and improve the job pursuit intention (JPI) is now needed more than ever. One of the strategies that Indonesian companies can use to do so is by practicing CSR. Hence, this is the first study in an attempt to observe the overall relationship of the CSR with the job pursuit intention, QWL and EP, especially in the controversial industries. The study will drive companies to intensify their efforts in maintaining good employee performance.

To succeed, almost every employee needs work/life support at some point. Women and people of color need it the most, research shows, because they face greater challenges and have fewer resources available to them. They are also the least likely to receive it, however, and as a result often are forced to change or leave jobs and lose out on opportunities for advancement.
Given that situation, the authors decided to examine what effects various corporate work/life programs had on the management workforce. Analyzing data from more than 800 U.S. companies over 30 years, they found that when companies offered flexible work schedules, family leave, and childcare support to all employees, the percentage of women and people of color in management rose significantly. In fact, those work/life benefits had a larger impact than the most popular racial-equity programs did.
Companies have long known that programs promoting work/life balance boost productivity, reduce turnover, and improve employees’ mental and physical health. And now it’s clear that they are also a powerful way to increase organizational diversity.
It’s a secret weapon for achieving organizational diversity.

To succeed, at some point almost every worker needs work/life support, and the data suggests that women and people of color need it most. But they don’t receive it—or even learn about company benefits—nearly as often as they should.

The Context
For many companies, the ideal worker remains somebody unencumbered by family obligations, who can adhere to the kind of demanding daily schedules and career trajectories that were standard for white men in the 1950s and have intensified since.
The Way Forward
Companies need to spell out and uniformly offer policies in three areas: flexibility, time off, and childcare. Doing so, studies show, helps workers and managers alike by lowering stress, improving productivity, boosting retention, and increasing diversity.
Corporate programs that support work/life balance promote productivity, reduce turnover, and improve employees’ mental and physical health. That much is well-known. But our research has revealed another benefit: They can also boost your organization’s diversity. In fact, when it comes to increasing diversity among managers, they’re better than the most popular racial-equity programs.

In the light of current changes, human resourcing is considered as the essential factor of the growth and development of any organization.If the concept of quality of working life (QWL) began to evolve since the early sixties of the twentieth century, we note that this have been based on the idea that improving the quality of working life of employees has a direct impact on improving their performance and well-being though such a better taking into account their human needs by the organization.This concept has become a major requirement; any organization must insure its proper application to enhance its human capital. In this research our attention has focused on the importance given to QWL as perceived by male and female employees at the University of Jijel.In the empirical study realized in four faculties, we evaluated the QWL as perceived by two samples of 117 women and 59 men.The study has beenconducted using a questionnaire that has undergone tests of validity and reliability and has three mains null hypothesis.We analyzed the data collected using appropriate statistical indicators.

Objectives: Tuberculosis (TB) is a significant public health concern in Afghanistan, with a high burden of disease in the western province of Herat. This study explored the risk factors of TB and TB's impact on the quality of life of patients in Herat. Methods: A total of 422 TB patients and 514 controls were recruited at Herat Regional Hospital and relevant TB laboratories between October 2020 and February 2021. Data was collected through interviews using a structured questionnaire and the SF-36 questionnaire. Descriptive statistics, chi-square tests, Multivariate General Linear Model, and logistic regression analysis were used to analyze the data. Results: The results showed that male sex ( p = 0.023), chronic disease ( p = 0.038), lower education levels ( p < 0.001), and worse health status ( p < 0.001) were significantly associated with higher odds of TB infection. The study also found that TB patients had significantly lower quality of life scores in almost all components ( p < 0.05). Conclusion: This study provides important insights into the specific ways in which TB affects the wellbeing of patients in Afghanistan. The findings highlight the importance of addressing the psychological and social dimensions of TB.

How trivago maximized audiences in Japan
Getting started was easy for trivago. Thanks to its previous experience in the market, the company already knew what users were searching for in Japan and which destinations were the most popular.
"The whole process was very smooth," says Bruno. "We used existing campaign content and our knowledge of operating in Japan with other search engines to quickly create new campaigns in the Microsoft Advertising platform."
They started out with the basics: Text ads. And to avoid having to manually monitor performance, trivago decided to try the Target cost per acquisition CPA automated bidding strategy to save time and improve ad efficiency. Once everything was set up, the volume started to come in.
Higher conversion at a cheaper cost
The ratio of clicks that converted to actual bookings was 20% higher on Microsoft Advertising, while it was 25% cheaper in cost per click (CPC) from June through July 2022, despite lower volume compared to competitors.
“Even if the volume is smaller than Google or Yahoo, with this amount of traffic, we just can’t ignore the potential of Microsoft Advertising,” said Bruno. “It makes a difference, and it makes sense for us to be here”.
Now, trivago achieves more booking value with the same investment than other search platforms.
“At the moment, we’re having around 50% less price of buying the booking value compared to others,” admits Bruno.
The high quality of the Microsoft Advertising audience has been a differential factor for trivago.
“The type of traffic we’re getting from Microsoft is usually desktop heavy, and they come with higher likelihood of making the purchase compared to the mobile users”.
