Presentation Secondary School, Loughboy
In 1797 two very young Kilkenny women, Catherine Meighan and Isabella MacLoughlin traveled to South Presentation Convent, Cork to train as Presentation Sisters. In 1800 they returned to Kilkenny and founded the first Presentation Convent in the city. On 18th October 1800 the first Presentation School opened its doors to 60 pupils.

Presentation Primary School, also know as Scoil Mhuire, is located in the heart of Kilkenny City in the shadow of St. Mary's Cathedral. It is a large urban school, catering for 430 children. We have sixteen mainstream classes and two speech and language classes (for children who have been diagnosed with a developmental language disorder, DLD).

OUR SCHOOL
History. On 29th June 1829, the Presentation Sisters first came to the Parish of Castlecomer. This was the year of Catholic Emancipation and Catholics were now free to practice their religion. Catholic children could attend schools. Three Sisters from the Presentation. Convent Kilkenny volunteered to set up the school in Castlecomer.

The presentations were made by World Ploughing Champion John Whelan. The special evening was also enjoyed by many in the organisation and the men and women who made the local Kilkenny ploughing competitions such a great success throughout the year. Competitions took place in Danesfort, Tullogher Glenmore and Mooncoin.
